Restaurant "De Twee Provinciën" in Haren-West e.o.

Upon entering, we were already a bit hesitant, as only two tables were occupied. The atmosphere wasn't very pleasant, and the food was nothing to write home about. The carpaccio wasn't good, and the pickled salmon was just a block of raw salmon. Then came the main course. We both had the catfish. Both were covered in bones, and the sauce was lumpy and a bit sour. We didn't finish either. The staff offered to remake it or choose something else, but we didn't want that, as nothing had tasted good up to that point. Before dessert, we paid for our drinks and left to visit the local snack bar. All in all, a sad, yet hilarious experience.

The hot and cold buffet was excellent. Friendly and efficient service. Ample parking. Beautiful view of Paterswoldsemeer.

Yesterday (28-11-2024) we had a fantastic meal here with 4 people. We had a 4 course menu and all dishes were equally tasty and the wine was of very good quality. The service was also pleasant. Everything was already in the Christmas spirit, which felt very nice. We had a very nice evening and will definitely come again.

Prior to visiting Martiniplaza, we had reserved a 3-course dinner via Socialdeal. Highly recommended. Upon arrival we were told to leave at a quarter to 7 at the latest. This was taken into account. Service nice and correct. Good advice, definitely worth repeating. Very tasty food and a nice bock beer from Hertog Jan.

We opted for a 4-course menu here via SocialDeal. The food was really good for the price, good portions, reasonable choice for a deal and excellent service. Waiting times are not too long, but enough to have a nice chat. Price/quality is very satisfactory

I once celebrated my father's mother's eightieth birthday here and now his own eightieth birthday. We were able to go there right away when I called and everything was possible. Marcel the owner thought along with us so that we could organize an unforgettable birthday for my father. Top location.

You can NOT go here if you have an ALLERGY. There were less than 20 people on the terrace, but they refused to clean a corner in the kitchen for gluten in my case to prevent cross-contamination. (It's nice that they are at least honest about this). I watched how my table companions were eating, too bad. Just like the service, you can carry the high chair yourself, and it was also sticky. Furthermore, passive aggressive notes on the menu; that a glass of tap water costs 1 euro and with more than 10 people you are forced to all take the lunch deal. Striking: no vegan options. Untidy terrace that is clearly never swept, there are sugar packets and cigarette butts everywhere. This is a shame, because there is certainly potential due to the beautiful location. Update: The owner's response confirms the passive-aggressive nature. I would like to invite the owner to at least respond publicly to the allergy section so that people with allergies know whether they can go here.

Reserved 1 day in advance with a friendly employee. The day AFTER there was no table for us due to... a party. The previous evening they had been waiting for us at 5:30 PM, the owner said. Very annoying! We almost apologized until we realized that we had only made the reservation by phone the night before at 9:50 PM. Making mistakes is not a problem because food is available everywhere. However, it is not a nice approach if the responsibility is placed on the guest!

Geluncht met een vriendin. Een zeer kleine lunch kaart . We hebben dezelfde keuze gemaakt 2 kroketten met brood besteld met bruin brood. Er werden 2 kleine bordjes gebracht met bestek wat ons verbaasde. Daarna werd een houten bakje gebracht met twee droge witte bolletjes met een kroket erop. We zeiden dat we bruin brood hadden besteld. Dat kon niet zei de ober. Dat was niet tegen ons gezegd. Dus twee kale droge bolletjes met een kroket voor maar liefst €11,50. Geen kuipje boter erbij en niets om het bord op te leuken. Buitengewoon onprofessioneel. Er zaten weinig mensen op het terras. Eerder was het zoeken om een plekje in de zomervakantie, maar nu snappen we waarom dit zo was. Het is een prachtig plekje aan het Paterwoldse meer. Erg jammer! Gezien de slechte recensies, denken wij dat dit niet goed gaat.😩

Altijd weer gezellig en relaxed hier te borrelen en te eten. Het is, zoals overal, wat prijziger geworden maar het eten was heerlijk. Wij waren met z'n viertjes en 4 verschillende gerechten geprobeerd. Allemaal even lekker. Bediening was ook weer top. Niet te popie joepie en niet te chique. Lekker normaal. En daar houden we van. Locatie is ook nog es hartstikke fijn. Direct aan het water achter glas tegen de wind. Eén dingetje ontbrak: parasols boven de tafels direct aan het water. Als het warm weer is dan zijn deze tafels wel erg warm .

When we asked if we could have fries with it, the waitress gave us a big beak as to whether she was ready yet... Half a liter of beer was lukewarm and poured with 4 fingers of foam!. After a complaint, we received 1 round of cold and full beer afterwards, which turned out to be free. Management promises something but never delivers. We understand that it is busy. We requested additional fries twice. Because, we said, you get 1 bowl per person, right? Not, according to the waitress. Medium rare ribeye was served rare. The "warmed up" frozen vegetables were served half cold. I put a fork of vegetables in the waiter's hand and he agreed that it felt cold. And then don't just offer new ones... The lettuce mix was drenched in a load of white sauce. All in all, the food lacked any finesse and we felt treated disrespectfully. When paying, the owner himself said: "that is € 180 divided by 3, which makes € 60 each". I asked for the receipt, and it turned out to just say €176.50. So the owner also tried to cheat us. Appropriate the tip for yourself? Even 1 bowl of fries out of 4 - for 5 people ... - was charged € 3.50 ... Our umpteenth bad experience here. Shame. Because the location is so beautiful. And as a fellow boat enthusiast you would rather expect preferential treatment than such a bad experience as we received here. Shame!

Eten is echt toeristisch. Van te voren gemeld dat er iemand glutenvrij was, kreeg de opmerking dat ze een gerenommeerd restaurant waren en echt wisten hoe hier mee om te gaan. Nou niet! Een salade met couscous couscous?!?’ En in de carpaccio zitten gluten! Hoofdgerecht kabeljauw helemaal gortdroog! En een sausje maken of wat champignons erbij? Nou denk niet dat het in de keuken op voorraad is. De baas vroeg of wij lekker gegeten hadden en bood nog wel aan om een ander visje te maken, wat wij niet gedaan hebben maar wel door ons gewaardeerd werd. Maar seen gerenommeerd restaurant serveert toch geen groente mix van bonduelle. Personeel was wel heel vriendelijk 🤗 en heeft wel het glutenvrije hoofdgerecht van de rekening afgehaald als tegemoetkoming! 👍

Portion size is too small. A normal portion should consist of 3 sandwiches, so about 18 euros, with drinks we spent an average of 25 euros for lunch.

Delicious on the waterfront, small dishes, but the price reflects that. Excellent quality.

Beautiful location, but I didn't think the service was very friendly, and that's putting it mildly. I don't think 1 was interested in serving us at all. In addition, something went wrong with the order. That can happen, but we have gone a long time without drinking. Then we finally got our order and that didn't go smoothly either. We received a menu with mini sandwiches, but on the other side of the table we saw larger sandwiches. I personally think 15 euros for 2 mini sandwiches and 1 soup is very pricey. The only positive was that when 2 baskets were missing and 1 soup was wrong, it was resolved quickly. All in all, a great shame, because it should have been a nice brunch for the family. I won't come here again.

Starter, Tandoori salmon was tasty but very cold....just came out of the refrigerator....😬 Main course, Red mullet was fried in plenty of butter according to the waiter...I think it was boiled or stewed...not special!🤨 With a lot of pesto that is quite overpowering.... Dessert was fine! Too bad...🙃

A few years ago we had dinner here with a large group. It was great, atmosphere and food was good so now we went there again. Food was mediocre, only 2 tables occupied on Saturday evening that came via social deal, very quiet and unpleasant.

Nice for lunch. Nice view over the lake. Beautiful, attractively decorated place. The food is good in relation to the price. Highly recommended.

Ate here via Social Deal. That was surprisingly good and tasty. Friendly service. For just €20, a four-course menu that really spoils you and is beautifully presented. In our experience, you won't get this this good anywhere else. It's more than worth the money. I personally find the interior a bit cold in black and white, but the restaurant is beautifully situated on the Paterwoldse lake.

Echt een hele fijne plek! We zijn er nu een aantal keer geweest (via Social Deal) en elke keer was het eten weer top, vriendelijke service (ook heel flexibel, hondje mocht bv mee). Gewoon ontspannen sfeer op een mooie plek met supervriendelijke bediening. Zeker een aanrader.

Vond het vrij matig, weinig keuze uit eten. Niet echt lekkere sfeer en buiten zittend zie je dat niet alles aan gebouw en het groen er omheen onderhouden wordt.

Wij zijn hier gaan eten met mijn ouders en oom en tante en zijn hier terecht gekomen via sociale deal. We hadden een mooi uitzicht en een mooie keuze uit vaste gerechten en echt wat hebben we genoten van het eten de bediening maar zeker ook van de eigenaar wij komen zeker terug

Heerlijk gegeten...en goede service...niks te klagen...zeker een aanrader

We hebben hier de grootouders een uitje gegeven. Het was niet druk. Dus we werden vriendelijk en vlot geholpen door een opmerkzame bediening. Het eten kwam ook erg vlot. Lekkere mosterdsoep, zalm en champignonsoep vooraf. Vis van de dag, parelhoen en schnitzel als hoofdgerecht. De vis was goed gebakken, de porties goed en de salade goed gekruid. Dessert ook lekker maar wel erg zoet.

Lekker spontaan geluncht. Mooi plekje in de zon aan het water. Vriendelijke bediening en lekker eten.

Tolles Ambiente - wir saßen draußen auf der Terrasse direkt am See. Leckeres Essen, anständige Portion, feiner Capuccino, freundlicher Service.

Mooie locatie om lekker uit eten te gaan. In dit geval was het een bedrijfsetentje, we zaten buiten met het mooie weer. Er was van alles geregeld zoals een barbecue met ruim aanbod in eten en drinken. kortom genoten, voordat ik er erg in had was het al redelijk laat geworden.

Zaterdag 8-7-'23 met vrienden heerlijk gegeten bij de Twee Provinciën 😊👍🏻 Gekozen voor het 3 gangen menu met een heerlijk dessert van de chef, echt verrukkelijk. Vriendelijk personeel met toch 1 opmerking....laatste hap in de mond of het bord werd al weggehaald, dit vond ik onprettig. Wacht even tot iedereen uitgegeten is en dan pas opruimen. Idem met de koffie....koffie was nog niet op en werd al weggepakt....ho ho, nog niet op!! Daar mag wel wat beter opgelet worden dat dit anders moet.....Maar verder fijne plek om te zitten en te eten!

7-7-2023 was onze fantastische dag bij de 2 provinciën. Niks ontbrak ons, super locatie en personeel. Marcel bedankt voor alle goede zorgen

Ons lievelingsrestaurant! Altijd gezellig, prachtig zonnig terras aan het water en heerlijk eten. Vandaag voor de verandering geluncht bij Marcel . Heerlijk! Ook heel fijn is het om aan het eind van de middag even een drankje te doen, lekkere sfeer zonder harde of softe juziek, maar gewoon aan het water zitten, achter het windscherm, luisteren naar het klotsende water, en kijkend naar de vele boten die voorbij komen. En tja, dan zit het zo lekker dat we dan ook regelmatig blijven eten. Ook heel lekker en niet al te belachelijk duur.

is op zich beter dan een 3-ster maar ze hadden hun openingstijden niet goed op google bijgewerkt, stonden we daar voor niets voor de deur...

Eten matig tot redelijk, geen sfeervolle zaak, wat achterhaald allemaal. Mooi uitzicht over water.

Op het terras heb je een mooi uitzicht op het Paterswoldse meer. Het restaurant is rolstoeltoegankelijk, heeft een invalidentoilet en een invalidenparkeerplaatsen voor de deur.

We hadden een high tea met de fam. Alles was superverzorgd, er werd zelfs een pannenkoek gebakken voor de kleintjes. Omdat het heel warm was zaten we wel erg te zweten binnen. Maar er werd veel water aangesleept. Topmiddag gehad!
