The food looked beautiful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't surprise us at all. We found it bland. The lukewarm dishes were cold. The restaurant (and terrace!) look very nice, but we were bothered by a lot of noise around us. A noisy table next to us, bottles from the bar being placed in crates, and on top of that, music blaring from the speakers. The staff was very friendly but exhausted from a busy day, they were running out of steam. The wines were excellent, and the kitchen was very considerate of allergies.

We had a wonderful evening, the food was delicious, and they were very helpful in accommodating our intolerances. Highly recommended!

It was a quiet evening with only a few guests outside. The food was good, but the only downside was the excess sauce that covered the main course. It's better to serve the sauce separately.

We enjoyed a delicious high wine/beer with delicious dishes. The service was excellent, very friendly and accommodating to our wishes.

Last Sunday I had lunch at De Vrijheid. I received a very friendly welcome from a woman. We were given a nice spot on the terrace, after which we enjoyed a delicious meal. Compliments for the food, but also for the waitress who made our visit very pleasant. You don't see such a combination of quality and friendliness very often these days. The appetizer came very quickly, but they immediately scaled back the pace when we mentioned it! This restaurant is highly recommended!

Quality is fine, nice menu. When bread came in advance we immediately thought that the portions of dinner would be small and that was also the case. Small portions, just give some vegetables or salad why pay separately for this. Too bad we will not come back. Too expensive!!

The lack of fries or fried potatoes with the main course is quite normal, you should not have to order this separately. You will not see me for dinner anymore. Too bad because the location is unique.

It was Parkfeest this weekend, the door was open, the weather was great and we could enjoy the music in the park. Yet we could still have a nice chat with each other.

Good food for a reasonable price and tasty three or four course menus. Excellent and service oriented staff.

What I find a pity is that in the garden there were bird droppings on almost all tables. We didn't get a placemat so everything was served on the dirty table. I put my fork on this table, so not tasty but just disgusting.

We had a really delicious meal! Great asparagus and tasty diamond tenderloin. Delicious dessert and delicious bread for starters. Unfortunately, we thought it all took too long. We received the menu very late. In addition, we sat on the terrace and were in the dark for a long time towards the evening because there was no outside lighting, which was quite annoying because we could not see our food. The staff was very friendly, but they often didn't look at us even though we wanted to order something, so we even walked in to indicate that we wanted to order.

We regularly go out to eat and this time we opted for De Vrijheid. To be on the safe side, we made a reservation on Sunday evening at 6:30 PM, but upon arrival we were surprised that 'only' 3 tables in the restaurant were occupied, while restaurants across the street were full. No new guests arrived after us. The quality of the food was good, but the service was not focused on the guests present. Even had to ask if we could order a drink. The atmosphere was also somewhat chilly. Very unfortunate because we think this location has a lot of potential.

Beautiful location with friendly service and super tasty food. We will definitely come back here.

Enjoyed a 3 course dinner. Portions were just big enough and very tasty. My wife and I both had 2 glasses of wine and a coffee/tea afterwards. Price-quality ratio was really great. Will definitely come back here more often.

Great meal. Been several times and always excellent. Price quality is good. Service was good too. Even after dessert they asked if I wanted any fries. How did they know I'm such a fries lover? Afterwards it turned out that it had been asked at the wrong table. Humor, right? Definitely recommended!

We were here for lunch on Boxing Day. It was clear that they paid a lot of attention to the quality of the food as well as the presentation and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend De Vrijheid.

Food was really delicious. We had a group of 7 people who had 1 course, 3 courses and 4 courses. Service was great. Everything was well coordinated with us, fine. Good explanation of the wine pairing and Lieke felt the atmosphere at the table very well. Recommended for a pleasant evening.

Not recommended to eat with a group of 12. Waiting time is absurd, after more than 2 hours still no main course. Busyness isn't too bad either.

Alles wat ons (stel) blij maakt bij een restaurant bezoek vinden wij niet bij Restaurant De Vrijheid. Ook na een tweede kans in een andere maand en jaar. Geen smaakbeleving, de friet was slecht en veel te veel, geen sfeer, geen rust, geen privacy, geen fijne bediening, geen goede prijs kwaliteit verhouding. 80 euro (in het jaar 2021) waarvan we dan liever elders twee keer lunchen. Wij hebben het geprobeerd en na twee keer opgegeven.

Erg leuke plek om te eten! Heel vriendelijke en attente bediening, ze houden het allemaal (op de goede manier😉) scherp in de gaten. Het eten is echt van heel goede kwaliteit en vers. Enige puntje van kritiek is de (grote hoeveelheid) gerookte paprika poeder op alle gerechten. Als dat iets minder zou zijn dan is het helemaal top, verder alles dik in orde hier👍🏻!

Very tasty food at an absolute gem of a location, still in the heart of Oosterhout. There is a new owner who continues a successful concept and makes culinary food accessible at an extremely reasonable price. Despite some minor flaws in the service because they are new, they had a very personal approach. The matching wines from the wine package offered were very surprising and they filled the glasses well and even added them here and then. All in all a very good experience and I will definitely come back here!

Unfortunately, this establishment has switched to another beer brand. Not a bad brand in itself, but previously it was the only store with Stella Artoise. So that means buying another crate at the Belgian border.

Had dinner here on Saturday April 13 with a group of 20, including 2 small children. We had agreed via email to take the freedom menu. 3 of us had not looked at the menu in advance and did not find anything that they liked, which is possible. But nothing else was allowed to be ordered, which is crazy in this day and age. Because in my opinion, every euro now counts in the catering industry. But There was no way they could manage to choose something from another card. Then these 3 went to the shop next door. So those are lost euros. We were there at half past 7 and we got 1 course every hour, we also had to shout every time to get something to drink while the glasses were all empty, the 3 serving girls behind the bar kept giggling. Here too, all turnover in the catering counts, especially drinks, so I don't think the owner would be happy with this. I have to say the food was worth it, and so was the price, but letting us sit until half past nine with 2 children is not okay with me. So that's once but unfortunately never again. Shame.

Went here for lunch about 2 years ago, which was a bad experience. One person in the group (an adult) wanted to order a sandwich, but it was made clear to us that these are only for children and therefore should not be ordered by an adult... very special and bizarre. Then I decided, I will skip De Vrijheid from now on. Until a week or 2 ago the first rays of sunshine came and the person I was with wanted to have lunch in the sun. And they do it well, they have a great location with the terrace. So, I gave it a second chance and sat down in the sun at Vrijheid for lunch, hoping that things wouldn't be repeated. It was the weekend, the sun was shining, we thought we might as well have a glass of wine with lunch. The waitress asked about the dry white wine she could serve. I was given 2 options, which I found a bit limited. Also not the best options but OK that's taste. So I asked the lady if there wasn't more choice. Then the answer was; “No, because there are no other bottles open at the moment.” My first reaction was very surprised as to whether it was possible to open one of those bottles, but that was not an option. Pffff. man man man, as a restaurant (at 1:30 PM on a Saturday) you are not prepared to open a bottle of wine and opt for poor service and experience out of perhaps a fear that you will not get the other 5 glasses poured in 2 days? I think a lot about it but in short; penny wise, pound foolish, idiotic and extremely poor service. Then you really don't understand hospitality and gastronomy and it might be an idea to throw in the towel.

Just enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner. It was great, nice atmosphere, delicious and beautifully prepared 5-course dinner. Service super friendly and enthusiastic. So glad we made a reservation here. The four of us enjoyed the whole evening. Compliments to the entire Team👌👌🥂🎶

Great place, but ordering a 0.0 beer and then getting a can of beer for €5.50 does not fit the picture. I had the impression for a moment that I was in a chip shop.

We had a party here. There is a room upstairs which we used as a party room, it is perfect for groups up to 50 people. Dined with a group of 35 downstairs... Very good. Really tatsefull autumn dish. Perfect alternatives for allergies and veggies.

Very good value for money. For example, an excellent house wine for €4.50. A good bottle of Merlot for €22. Homemade fries and mayo for €2.00 (2 persons). The dishes have not been made more expensive to compensate. Nice! The service was very good, despite the enormous staff shortage. Outside there was a sign saying 'colleagues wanted... experience not necessary'. We didn't notice much of the stress with the service (only two waiters in a full restaurant). The salmon as a starter was buttery soft and tasty without any cooking smell. The pork tenderloin was also perfect. Just like my wife, I am an avid culinary traveler to France, including the better vignobles. In our home city of Rotterdam we live in Kralingen with top restaurants within easy reach, we are actually spoiled to the point of being annoying, and then it is extra nice to be in Oosterhout against De Freedom to walk. Do it too! The location on a cozy monumental square is also inspiring.
