What a great experience we had at Zout & Citroen. A great evening full of delicious food and matching wines. We had a 7-course dinner with matching wine arrangement. Patricia is an incredibly good, social and professional hostess. She knows how to find the perfect balance between a joke and personal interest in her guests, all this without detracting from the professionalism as a hostess. In addition to her welcoming attitude, Patricia has a wealth of knowledge regarding the different wines she serves. Patricia likes to think along with you without forcing her guests. A very pleasant experience! I can only say "great" about the food. It is not for nothing that they have a Michelin star, and in our opinion that is completely justified! The price-quality ratio is fine. The prices are transparent on the website and indicated during dinner, so you will not be faced with unpleasant financial surprises here. We can't wait for our next visit. Patricia, thank you!

We had a delicious meal at Zout & Citroen, where we visited for the first time last weekend. We enjoyed various beautiful and tasty dishes in a beautiful, atmospheric restaurant with a view of the garden. After three appetizers, we started with the menu, with a perch ceviche being the first dish, nice and spicy. Then a surprisingly tasty steak tartare with a pepper in it. Then a delicious piece of sweetbreads, incredibly tasty. Lamb as main course and cheese at the end. We had a really nice meal and all this with delicious wines, which made us have a very nice evening. On to next time.

Beautiful restaurant, all the dishes looked wonderful. Personally, I didn't like the focaccia bread dish because it was soggy. There was also something with a very strong aroma that I didn't like. For a 1* Michelin restaurant, I thought it was a bit disappointing. The food wasn't bad, but I'm a critical person, and I didn't get that wow feeling. The hostess was very friendly; it's a shame the chef doesn't come to your table, which is often the case in Michelin-starred restaurants.

Last Saturday evening, March 1, 2025, I had dinner here for the first time with friends. For me it was the first time that I ate in a restaurant with a Michellin star. I eat vegan, and when making the reservation I was asked well in advance whether this could be taken into account, which was possible. We opted for a 5-course menu with a wine arrangement. In one word AMAZING! Our and my taste buds are truly spoiled, all my expectations have been exceeded! A menu was put together especially for me, the flavors of which were on par with the dishes of my non-vegan table companions and the layout was stunning (seriously almost a shame to eat). I let my table companions taste my dishes (because they were very curious about this) and they were also amazed by the taste sensations and sometimes even found it tastier than their own dishes. I thought it was a very special experience, I really felt pampered and honored and I never once got the feeling or idea that I was a difficult customer because I did not want to eat animal products. Even though it was very quiet in terms of guests, the atmosphere was great and this was really created by the enthusiastic and friendly, sweet but above all (wine) knowledgeable table lady and the chefs who came to tell each dish what they had made and with which ingredients. What a class again. 5 course lunch with fantastic flavors that will stay with you. Not a single dish disappointed. We love the special mix of classic French with an Asian and Oriental twist. The sauce with Persian Adviceh lingered for a long time, as did the appetizers with bread miso. Excellent.

Due to personal circumstances, we requested an adjusted menu and adjusted times. Wasn't a problem at all and as far as I'm concerned, this restaurant deserves a gold star. Other star restaurants can take an example (they did not even respond or it was impossible to adjust.) In addition, the food and service were great, so in my opinion it is highly recommended.

Yesterday we joined a group for the first time for the beer dinner that we had already heard a lot about. Reception in the garden, beautiful glass of Farmyard, good start, after which we were guided to the table. The atmosphere was relaxed, not too stiff as sometimes happens in high class restaurants, but the staff was nice and relaxed, which matched the atmosphere in our group. The dishes were all mouth-watering, the pairings with the beers were very well thought out. We didn't have any bad combinations, but we did have a few absolute high-flyers with the steak tartare and IPA and the Adams beers from Side Project that went very well with both the main course and the dessert. I thought it was definitely worth the 160 euros and will definitely come back for the next edition. Absolutely enjoyed it!

Perhaps we had different expectations because we regularly eat in a star restaurant, but as far as we were concerned it was not a successful evening. For a star restaurant, we are used to a higher level in terms of flavors, service and operation. In our opinion, price-quality is not in proportion. The dishes are all very salty. Kitchen staff comes to serve the food in dirty aprons. We did not see the chef. We are used to this always coming to the table. It couldn't have been due to the crowds. There were only 3 tables on a Sunday evening.

A woolen wedding, that's what it is when you've been married for 7 years, and we were on August 14th. Eating out in a star restaurant. That's what we do on the year and half of our marriage. After a short search on the world wide web, we found the Zout en Citroen restaurant in Oosterhout with a hotel within walking distance. Ideal! At 3:00 PM we were allowed to check into the hotel where an entire youth football team from Denmark was staying. That did provide some extra "atmosphere" but it didn't bother us much. It was a challenge when we wanted to get into the elevator. The young athletes took advantage of it all too eagerly. We often had to wait until the elevator was empty. Even on the first floor, the football players entered the elevator, while you are faster if you take the stairs. I don't think Denmark will become world champion anytime soon. In the afternoon we first walked through the picturesque town to explore the way to the restaurant, after which we tried to kill time on a terrace until we could get dressed and ready to go out. A little later we walked into the restaurant dressed up, where we were assigned a nice spot with the festive background music from the fair that was 100 meters away from us, which turned out not to be very disturbing. Of course we opted for the full 7-course surprise menu with wine arrangement. The appetizers and dishes followed each other in rapid succession. It all tasted good, but we were not really impressed. Maybe we eat out too often, we thought for a moment. Maybe we don't really appreciate it anymore, but maybe we have developed a refined taste and we have to evaluate the food differently. The fact is that it was another nice evening and we walked back to our hotel satisfied, where we once again collapsed on the bed with a big tripe.

Wow! What a perfect evening we had at restaurant Zout en Citroen. Celebrated our wedding anniversary here and didn't regret it for a second. Enjoyed a 7-course dinner outside on the terrace. Every dish was delicious! The staff put a smile on our faces and were extremely friendly. Due to my pregnancy and allergies, I was not an easy customer, but they did not shy away from that and turned it into a party. Of the many Michelin star restaurants we have visited, this restaurant is one of my favorites! Thank you very much for your top service!

We selected this restaurant as part of the restaurant week, where you can eat cheaply at good restaurants. The parking lot was fine, there was some arguing about the reservation at the reception. Our table was fine. I found the service distant and often difficult to understand. The 5 course menu could be expanded infinitely. 4 of us took the 5 course drink package and an additional 3 cheese boards for all. The entire menu came with plenty of bottled water. I thought everything was very over-flavored, in other words, too salty except for the dessert. In terms of costs, we came to € 160 pp, quite a lot for a restaurant monthly offer. I often have the feeling that I definitely want to go back, but I don't have that here. (sorry uploading photos is difficult)

Overall we had a very successful evening, but with a star (and associated price) we are used to a slightly higher level. The dishes and wines were in principle star-worthy, but we expected the taste and coordination of some of them to be a bit more refined. One area for improvement that evening, however, was the black brigade. This seemed a bit understaffed, which meant that some people were in a hurry and/or in a bad mood and just too many things went wrong.

We were not able to experience a star-worthy restaurant at all tonight. Menu was clearly communicated and the dishes at the table were incorrect! No allergies taken into account! In addition, we always had to ask for wine or drinks or pour them ourselves! The flavors of the food were very noticeable everywhere. This started with the appetizers and continued to be reflected in the dishes. After 5 courses we were asked if we wanted coffee or tea, but had to indicate that we were still waiting for course 6! For us, a lesser experience that we were still very much looking forward to!

Heard a lot about it, so this was on the schedule and there was room. Staff was friendly and we got a nice spot outside on the terrace. The kitchen came to serve several dishes with a nice story. The sommelier briefly told something about each wine, but I am normally used to more detailed stories. But the wine was good and that's what matters. The food was tasty, but not extremely special. There could have been a little more attention to the layout and I'm guessing that several dishes were prepared well in advance. The steak tartare was tasty and original, only at the edges you could see that it had probably been sitting for a while and had dried up a bit. Among the cheeses, one had a dried out side. It had probably been there for a while without plastic covering it. The rest was very tasty and definitely worth a visit. The interior is great. I would give it a 7 instead of 3 stars :-)

I had the fortune to attend a multi-course business dinner at Zout en Citroen, so I can only judge the quality of the food and not the value for money. Having said that, the food presentation is very imaginative and while the portions are predictably small for a Michelin star restaurant, nor are they too stingy, either. With a wealth of other options in the Benelux region, it was not clearly better than the other places we have tried in Belgium but the owners deserve a lot of credit for what they have put together and it is worth trying it out.

This restaurant was very bad experience! A lot of time had clearly been put into the dishes, but the flavors didn't match at all. Each dish had a much too 'sour taste', which the entire table was not happy with. We also had to indicate ourselves that someone had allergies. The wine arrangement is not at all tailored to the dishes and they were not open to receiving feedback from the chef + sommelier. The location is beautiful, the staff is not enthusiastic, over-priced and very bad restaurant.

I expect passion at a restaurant with a star. There certainly was in terms of the quality and presentation of the food that was. The welcome was a bit stiff and so was the service to some extent. A great restaurant! The welcome is friendly. You can choose between a number of menus, but you can also vary considerably. The matching wines are surprising and even more delicious and surprising is that you also get matching beers. The plates are beautiful to look at and it tastes very good. The service is great! When the weather is nice you can sit outside on the terrace in the private garden. Inside it is attractively decorated. In short, highly recommended!

Very fine dishes with oriental influences. Surprising wine-food combinations. And don't forget the delicious beer-food combination. I'm not a beer drinker but this way...wow! Bram and Patricia are doing great. Bram in the kitchen as chef and Patricia as hostess understand their profession down to the smallest detail. Top business!

Enjoyed the 5-course menu with drinks package. Wine/special beer for my table companion, the BOB for me. All tables - neatly spaced within the current Corona rules - were occupied. The atmosphere breathed relaxation and joy for the newfound freedom, both for the guests and the hosts. The seasonal menu was a hit, tuna, lobster, langouste, lamb and the cheese dessert. Each course is accompanied by - admittedly young but - perfectly balanced wines. The LBV port was an exception, certainly in a positive way. The specialty beers do not appear in our glass every day and were therefore extra appreciated. The homemade friandises with coffee made us completely forget that we had turned down a sweet dessert. The small appetizers in between always remain a pleasant surprise, worth keeping as part of the restaurant's signature. Fortunately, Zou & Citroen has been able to retain its Michelin star in 2021, which is completely justified in my opinion. Top quality at a not average, but very realistic price level. Simply hospitable also exists in this segment, a carafe of water is gladly brought. Contacts with guests transcend the purely professional and are pleasantly personal, without becoming too jovial. We will definitely come back and hope that Zout & Citroen likes it as much as we do.

Although eating locally is difficult, we have brought the restaurant home with the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. Delicious dishes where the instructions did lead to small questions here and there, especially due to the identification of the various ingredients. It is also a sport to present the dishes beautifully. Doesn't detract from the taste!

I ate there a few years ago. My parents invited the whole family. I have rarely eaten so bad. With extremely rude service. I felt sorry for my parents, because they also realized that it was a mess and also had to pay a big bill. And something like this gets a Michelin star. This says everything about Michelin. Sad. A few weeks ago we ate at Zout & Citroen for the third time. Our number one always was, but not anymore. There were four of us and we chose the five-course surprise menu. Below are the reasons why we won't be returning to Salt & Lemon anytime soon: - One of us asked for vegetarian and fish, of the four courses (except dessert of course) one course was vegetarian and that was also the vegetarian course that everyone got. In other words, not listening carefully to the guest's wishes. In addition, all dishes containing meat were purely replaced by fish, so no other dish was created. So little creativity on the part of the chef. - The flavors were a bit disappointing, while Salt & Lemon had always been number one for us because of the "flavor explosions", this was now less so. Anchovies had now also been added to their version of the Caesar salad. An amuse that was the embodiment of these "flavor explosions". In our opinion, the anchovies are by no means an improvement. - Finally, the service was also not satisfactory. We had to wait a very long time (at least half an hour) for our drinks. For example, we had made a reservation at 7:00 PM and at 8:30 PM we had not yet started our first course. It all took a very long time and it wasn't even full. Unfortunately, Salt & Lemon will no longer be in our top favorites from now on.

This restaurant was very bad experience! A lot of time had clearly been put into the dishes, but the flavors didn't match at all. Each dish had a very 'sour taste', which the entire table was not happy with. We also had to indicate ourselves that someone had allergies. Then an amuse was served, which contained fish. The plates remained full during all five rounds, and we indicated in each round that we did not like the food. We then reported this to the owner and we simply received the full bill. Definitely cannot recommend the restaurant! From starter to main course it was disappointing. Very unfortunate, over priced and an overrated restaurant👎!

It had been more than five years since we had been there, they have been included in the Lekker top 100 for two years now. We were curious about the developments, so we made a reservation for lunch during the Riesling weeks. We were guided to a table in the conservatory overlooking the beautiful garden. As an aperitif I would like a Riesling, as only a Riesling was served this afternoon, it also became the first accompaniment. A Riesling 2017 Feinherb from Claes from the Moselle that was well received. Next to it a trio of snacks. Prawn crackers seasoned with furikake. Canelé of polenta with sweet and sour corn and popcorn seasoned with ras-el-hanout, very tasty. And the compact version of the “Caesar salad”. The first amuse was a tomato cookie, topped with smoked tomato jelly and celery jelly, finished with a dried tomato and a sprig of dill. Many preparations for a small snack. The second amuse was preparations of mushroom. As a base, a cream of mushroom with Madeira, next to a cream of mushroom made with aceto balsamic vinegar with a cube of sweet and sour cucumber on top. The whole thing was covered with pieces of shaved raw mushroom and finished with smoked olive oil powder. That went down nicely. The Gillardeau oyster with dill oil and enoki covered in a foamy sauce of champagne and smoked butter, delicious with a two-stage taste experience. The first course was presented by the chef. A classic steak tartare with dollops of piccalilly, crispy spelled, sweet and sour vegetables and a blend of fresh herbs, finished at the table with a grate of pickled and smoked egg yolk. A large portion with good flavors and fresh notes that combine well with the Riesling. A bit more of an eating dish than a fine dining dish. (7.5) Over to red with a chilled Spätburgunder 2017 from Sander from the Rheinhessen, elegant and refined. From the kitchen a thick brown fried halibut fillet with different structures of cauliflower, dots of tarragon cream, sprigs of samphire and a sauce of grapefruit with thyme oil, finished at the table with a foamy beurreblanc made with lettuce. The halibut was nicely cooked and still nice and juicy on the inside. The seasonings were the tarragon cream and the grapefruit sauce that was also the link to the delicious wine. (7.25) The dessert wine was a Huxelrebe spätlese 2017 from Erbeldinger from Rheinhessen, rich aroma with notes of ripe apple, honey and subtle spiciness, an excellent sweet-sour balance in the mouth. A sleek presentation on the plate. A white chocolate bombe with layered filling. Ice cream made from elderflower syrup in the center, surrounded by a compote of strawberries and rhubarb and a layer of firm elderflower mousse. Topped with elderflower meringues with dill powder. Next to it a quenelle of goat yoghurt ice cream with dill, finished at the table with a surprising sauce of strawberry, dill and Sichuan pepper. Flavors that impressed, especially the ice cream and sauce, but also the refined meringues, the wine just barely held up. (8.75) Service was well taken care of in a correct manner, with Sjoerd Bergmans the sommelier in the leading role. In summary, it was a good experience, slightly less fine dining than expected, although the dessert made an impression. Next to it, delicious wines that were neatly selected. This in a good ambiance with a view over the relaxing garden.

Tonight my wife and I had dinner here again for some time now. We opted for a 5-course dinner with accompanying 'drink package'. It was explained to us that both wine and beer would be served with the dishes. The appetizers we received were tasty, although 2 mini buns in a 'box with a lot of stones' doesn't really look nice. Of the 5 dishes, two were surprising and two were very mediocre. We omitted the fifth dish and opted for coffee with sweets. We thought the dish with steak tartare tasted very sour with the dressing. The 'special' cloudy-looking and extremely bitter tasting beer served here (in a half-filled wine glass) was a complete disappointment. The rendang dish consisted of a piece of meat cooked for 72 hours and a piece of meat cooked for 48 hours, which was served in a deepened 'dessert' plate. Cutting the meat that was really needed was hardly possible in this recessed plate. The cutting knife I was served was missing one of the mounting screws in the handle...? We paid € 235.00 for this dinner with drinks package with 2 Campari orange juice in advance. This amount has no relation to what we ate and drank. The location is very nice, the restaurant is dated. Quite a disappointment.

We picked up spareribs here along with a pasta carbonara, and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. The ribs practically fell off the bone, deliciously sweet (if you order the sweet spareribs), the fries were nice and crispy, and the sauce was great. I highly recommend it!! Pickup was easy.

A deep bow to Jip and his team! With their new concept, they've raised the bar and exceeded our expectations. We had the 5-course menu with matching wines and thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, the excellent wine selection, and Jasper's passionate explanations.
