We were a group of eleven for dinner, and it was extraordinary. The restaurant is chic in a warm inviting way, the presentation of the food elegant and the food itself varied and original. We had a great evening at Fris restaurant. We went for the 6 course package, but with the appetizers you still get 8 different dishes, or flavors, as they call it. We are not into wine nonsense and have enough knowledge to choose our own wine, which is why we simply chose a bottle from the wine list. The concept of taste sensation is a bit old, but I still want to use it for the majority of the dishes. We will definitely come back here!

Had a great experience here with the 12-flavor menu, which consists of fantastic tasty dishes and accompanied by very good wines. There is a nice atmosphere. The staff is very good and attentive, with very good explanations about the wines and dishes. The dishes all taste fantastic, each one better than the other. We opted for the Wagyu A5 as a supplement and that was the best choice we could make: we had never had such a tasty and tender piece of meat before. My personal favorites were the dish with foie gras (what a taste sensation), the caviar with king crab, and the rabbit with langoustine. The vegetable dishes, such as the combination of beetroot with wasabi and the dish with onion, were also delicious. And don't forget the lady blanche with truffle afterwards. In short, a wonderful evening. I would love to come back again!

We had a fantastic meal at restaurant Fris last night. All flavors were correct and we were very surprised. I thought the vegetable dishes really stood out. In addition, we were received with warmth and personal attention by Julius, Koen and the rest of the team. Incidentally, Koen does deserve a place in the information booklet! So young so good in his profession, we were impressed. The atmosphere gets 1 star less, purely because of the fish on the wall that personally bothered me a bit.

Restaurant Fris in Haarlem. We came here on the occasion of my birthday. We ate here once a few years ago, but now with new owners and service it is a great time to taste what comes out of the kitchen here. Upon entering we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. The explanation of the menu was a bit confusing, my birthday present consisted of an 8-course surprise menu, but because we arrived just after Christmas and the restaurant would be closed for a few days, we could no longer order everything and we were given a 5-course menu. recommended. After consultation with the kitchen, we were fortunately able to opt for an 8-course menu. The first appetizer, a cherry tomato, grilled and in a Sake Kasu sauce, the leftover from the Sake making process. Then we got a 'cake' of burnt bread pudding with smoked eel. We also ordered oysters, which came from Ireland from Oysri. Then we ate Hamachi, also called yellowtail tuna. Delicious king crab with a wasabi vinagrette with a ring of nori. Sole salad with Jerusalem artichoke and caviar gravy. Short rib with various preparations of onion. Pigeon with a fermented peach gravy and a beetroot terinne. A ring of duck liver with macha ice cream and Japanese baby peach. For dessert we could choose from a cheese board from our favorite cheese shop L'Amuse, homemade dame blanche with homemade vanilla ice cream, chocolate and truffle or a mascarpone with nori, orange and meringue. All dishes were served quickly and tasted delicious! The wines were also very tasty, including a Chardonnay from Burgundy from Le Renard, a Marsanne Les Vignes d'à Côte from Yves Cuilleron and we drank Lucky Luciano Shiraz from Kings of Prohibition from Australia. We already got to know this winery during our trip to Bali. The Chardonnay is also very tasty. With dessert we also drank the 'port' from this house, namely the Old Tawny Roy Olmstead. After a nice chat with Simon, the maitre d'of the evening, we left satisfied from this nice, modern restaurant that serves delicious food with Asian and Japanese influences in a traditional French way.

During our visit to **Restaurant Fris** in Haarlem, we were not immediately received by the waiting staff. Although there was eye contact with the kitchen staff as we waited at the cloakroom, they could have at least welcomed us or called in the wait staff. Because of this we waited for a few minutes and eventually decided to hang up our coats ourselves. After an apology from the staff we were escorted to our table. The restaurant has a beautiful, chic interior and water was immediately placed on the table, after which we were asked if we wanted a bubble - an offer we politely declined. ### Start of the evening The amuse, a caramelized tomato with foam, was a tasty surprise and immediately set the tone. Oysters were offered next, which we appreciated, and we ordered half a dozen. Unfortunately, the menu took some time to arrive, and it took about 45 minutes before it was finally brought. This felt like a missed opportunity in the first impression. We also noticed that it was cold in the restaurant. The name "Fris" therefore took on a somewhat too literal meaning, which was not conducive to the atmosphere. ### Dinner For dinner we opted for the five-course menu, which was introduced by two amuses. The first appetizer, a satay, was bland and nothing special. The second, a bread pudding with eel and herbs, was technically good, but the sweetness of the bread pudding overpowered the flavor of the eel. Too bad, because an amuse-bouche should be a highlight. - **Appetizer**: A cream of cashew nuts with papaya, apple-carrot salad and a mango sorbet. This dish was a hit. The flavors were fresh and beautifully balanced, and the accompanying wine was excellently chosen. - **Second course**: Red mullet with fennel crisps, gray shrimp, fennel marmalade and a chorizo ​​sauce. The chorizo ​​flavor could have been a bit more prominent and the sauce a bit fuller, but the Portuguese wine provided a nice balance. This dish was served with brioche, which was excellent. The flavors were refined and a nice end to the evening. ### Final conclusion The kitchen of Restaurant Fris shows talent and taste control. The dishes themselves, especially the starter and main course, were particularly memorable. However, there were clearly areas for improvement: the welcome, the pace of service, the temperature in the restaurant and the sometimes disappointing wine choices detracted from the overall experience. At €135 per person, including half glasses of wine, we expected more consistency and a smoother flow to the evening. The restaurant has a lot of potential, and with more attention to details and hospitality, Fris can become a top address. **Final rating**: ⭐⭐⭐☆ (3.5/5) Suitable for gourmets, but currently the value for money and hospitality are not in balance.

A nice, young, enthusiastic and professional crew will make you enjoy yourself all evening. Quality food but without the stiff character of the classic star tents. The dishes are all equally beautiful and tasty. We had a nice modern wine arrangement, but an alcohol-free arrangement based on homemade distillates and syrups was also possible. Went out for dinner last Monday evening. We opted for everything they had to offer and didn't regret it. We started with a glass of champagne and oysters beforehand. I had actually never had oysters from Ireland before, they were very tasty, nice bite. You can often tell by the shallot in the red wine vinegar that the kitchen knows what they are doing. So that gave good hope for the rest of the dinner. Then 8 courses with matching wine. Every course was good! We were simply served nice wine, good glasses, no silly fuss about quantity, after all we were having a night out. If I can give out a few "wow's". The quail main course and the fried foie gras. That made us really happy. The gentlemen were also attentive, correct and good at their profession. The team had also not forgotten my girlfriend's birthday. They showed this upon arrival and a small surprising snack for dessert. Very nice. Compliments to the professionals of team Fris and who knows, see you soon!

The service (nice in sneakers), very experienced and friendly, you feel so welcome and they really pamper you. We had a 7 course menu and were surprised. Didn't even look at the map. I lost count, but with all the extras we had 9 courses and enjoyed it for 5 hours. Even the towels in the toilet are a treat (smell so good)! See you again in a year or 2 years :-) thanks again for the great guys in the kitchen and in the service!

Small portions, service (wine) sales very pushy, draft and cold comment was made at the window but no solution was offered while there were still some empty tables elsewhere. Wat een fijne plek. Jonge ambitieuze chef en sommelier hebben ons een een topavond bezorgt. Bijzondere smaken en combinaties, Frans net een Aziatische twist. Alle gerechten voorzien uistekende verassende wijnen. Het menu uitbreiden met een kaasplank is zeer aan te bevelen. Wij komen zeker terug!

Zaterdagavond bij Fris gegeten - de sfeer is matig, veel tafels leeg en het restaurant oogt zeer gedateerd en (een beetje) sfeerloos. Het eten zag er goed uit en werd met zorg opgediend maar het niveau haalde het gewoonweg niet. Bij veel gerechten te veel van het één wat te overheersende smaken opleverde en allesbehalve uitgebalanceerde gerechten. Bij de zalm zat bv een saus van schaaldieren dat de smaak van de zalm volledig deed vervagen. Ook veel te veel saus bij de wagyu beef wat de kracht van het vlees doet afnemen. Al met al niet voor herhaling vatbaar. De wijnkaart viel ook niet in de smaak - weinig keus. Het grote Pluspunt is het personeel, dat veel aandacht had en zeer vriendelijk was!

Lekker gegeten. 4 vd 6 gangen waren yum! Bijpassende wijnen overwegend goed. Service goed. Personeel kundig en vriendelijk, maar die afgetrapte gympen vonden we niet passend op dit niveau. De wagyu was wel heel klein en de smaak werd verpest door het te zure overheersende sausje. Dit vlees heeft geen saus nodig. Limoncello was niet lekker. Wortelgerechtje viel ook minder in de smaak.

We hebben enorm lekker en goed gegeten. De service was optimaal, personeel die verstand heeft van zijn product.

Eten was niet heel uitgesproken wat je wel zou verwachten van dit type restaurant. Desserts en friandises waren echt beneden maats. Wijnen en bediening waren top. Al met al geen goede prijs kwaliteit verhouding.

Alweer prima gegeten bij Fris. Nieuwe eigenaren doen het fantastisch. Verrassende gerechten en uitstekende bediening.

Afgelopen zondagavond mijn vriendin meegenomen naar Fris voor een etentje. Op een zondag avond had ik het wat drukker verwacht maar dit mocht de pret zeker niet drukken. Alle gerechtjes waren echt van hoge kwaliteit, de opmaak van de borden waren op sterren niveau maar konden misschien wat creatiever. De wijnen waren ook stuk voor stuk goed uitgebalanceerd met het eten maar ook daar mag het wat spannender. De service was echt formidabel, casual, geïnformeerd en vriendelijk. Het interieur voelt wat gedateerd aan, vloerbedekking, grote riante stoelen, systeem plafond in de toilette en een karretje met wiskeys. Uiteindelijk echt een heerlijke avond gehad, ik zou iedereen aanraden om hier eens te gaan eten. Die ster komt er wel!

Afgelopen zondag voor het eerst van een vijf gangen menu bij restaurant Fris mogen genieten. Toen bij aankomst bleek dat het een private-dining ervaring zou worden dacht ik voor een seconde “oh jee”, maar mijn “oh jee” maakte al snel plaats voor een “wauw!”. De vlotte en leuke service, heerlijke (en prachtig uitziende) gerechten en attente houding van het personeel heeft hier absoluut aan bijgedragen. De Frans-Aziatische keuken komt tot in details terug in de gerechten en de chef weet je te verrassen in smaak en ervaring. De wijnpairing met de gerechten mag wat mij betreft origineler en verrassender en wellicht misschien ook wel meer de Frans-Aziatische touch krijgen. Kortom, respect voor het hoge niveau wat binnen een relatief korte periode is neergezet met het nieuwe team. Die Michelinster komt er wel!

Uitzonderlijk lekker gegeten bij Fris voor de eerste keer. Gebruik gemaakt van het Fork menu en bijpassend wijnarrangement. Echt genoten, bediening heel prettig, alle 6 gerechten waren verrassend lekker. Geen enkele aanmerking. Ambiance is rustig, geen muziek gehoord, alle aandacht voor elkaar en goede gesprekken. Wij zouden hier absoluut weer heen gaan!! Bedankt Fris staff!

Ontzettend lekker gegeten! Top service en verfijnde smaken. Een hele fijne uitgebreide lunch gehad in een relaxte sfeer. De alcoholvrije cocktails zijn trouwens erg goed. Ze maken dit zelf met pure ingrediënten. Echt een aanrader! P.s. Leuk dat je hier nog steeds thuis menu's kan bestellen.

Via de Primera-actie hadden wij een vijfgangendiner voor 52,50 pp in plaats van 75,- pp. Chef-kok Eddie Meijboom is goed op weg naar zijn eerste Michelinster, maar hij is er nog niet helemaal. Zo overheerst het zoet in veel gerechtjes, zo ook in het geserveerde brioche-brood. Brioche moet zoet zijn, maar hier was het net té. Een van de amuses (wij kregen er twee, terwijl de andere gasten allemaal drie amuses kregen; had dit met de Primera-korting te maken? Of was het door de opgegeven allergieën? Wij kregen geen uitleg hierover) was met huisgemaakte kimchi die echt iets te pittig was en daardoor de fijne balans miste. De - in het extra wijnarrangement gekozen - wijnen waren op één na spot-on; de gepresenteerde rode wijn bij de eend was te zwaar en overheerste daardoor de rosé-rode eend. Prima wijn, prima gerecht maar de combinatie was het net niet. Het lijkt nu 'kommer en kwel' maar dat is het absoluut niet. Dineren bij Restaurant Fris is heerlijk. Voor hen die een 'sterrenervaring' willen hebben voor een veel aangenamere prijs (wij kwamen inclusief drankjes - met voor één persoon een wijnarrangement - op 83,- pp) zijn bij Restaurant Fris aan het juiste adres. Het team van jonge mensen is professioneel en luistert goed naar opbouwende kritiek. Gaan ze met z'n allen op die weg door en weten ze de finesses nog beter te adresseren, dan zou het mij niet verbazen dat Eddie Meijboom met Restaurant Fris een Michelinster bemachtigt.
