Restaurant Sukiya - sushi & fusion in Meerwijk

Great food, the quality is comparable to other all you can eat sushi, maybe a little better. But the real relief is in the fact that you can take your time to eat and don't have to gobble down. You can sit here all evening and eat at a normal healthy pace and that is worth something if you ask me. In short, nice shop, great food and service, nice place if you want to dine all evening.

One of the best all you can eat restaurants I've been to! Highly recommended :)

Last week, the four of us enjoyed a surprisingly nice evening at restaurant Sukiya in Haarlem, located in Schalkwijk. To be honest, we were a bit skeptical about the location, but what a discovery this turned out to be! First of all, the atmosphere: the restaurant is well maintained, clean and neatly decorated. You can tell that care and attention is paid to it. Despite the fact that it is quite large, you can dine in private: the tables are placed in such a way that you hardly notice the other guests. Ideal for a relaxed dinner, also with children - because Sukiya is absolutely child-friendly. A special round of applause for Talha, our waiter of the evening, who really excelled in friendliness and efficiency. Everything was served very quickly, without feeling rushed. Talha was friendly, attentive and knew exactly when he was needed. You want that kind of service everywhere! We can be brief about the food: excellent quality! The hot dishes tasted great, the sushi was fresh and neatly presented. Although we found the sushi selection a bit on the meagre side – no maki for example, which we found a bit of a loss. Hopefully that will be expanded in the future. A small practical point: the tables are a bit on the small side, especially if you are with four people and get multiple dishes on the table at the same time. Some smaller plates or a serving platter would help enormously. It also took some getting used to the ordering system at first, where you can only order a limited number of dishes per 12 minutes. But to be honest: in retrospect this worked well – it prevents overeating and ensures a nice build-up in the meal. The only downside that the restaurant cannot do anything about is the view of Schalkwijk, which is not exactly romantic. Maybe that is why it was a bit on the dark side inside. Still, the atmosphere was warm and pleasant. In short: Sukiya is highly recommended for anyone living in Haarlem (or the surrounding area) and who is in the mood for delicious Japanese food without fuss. A good restaurant, friendly staff, excellent food and a relaxed, hospitable atmosphere. We will definitely come back – hopefully with some maki on the menu 😉.

The menu was very extensive and the quality was also very good! They work with a tablet system. Everything you order is then brought to the table quite quickly. Recommended!

Had a great meal at Sukiya yesterday! Beautiful stylish interior, nice atmosphere and super tasty food. Per round you choose 1 dish from a very wide selection: soup, cold or hot dishes, fried or grilled snacks and of course sushi. Every 12 minutes you can order again, side dishes are unlimited. Everything fresh, well seasoned and friendly staff. Really enjoyed it, recommended! 🍣✨

The food in this restaurant is tasty and nicely presented. The service is friendly and quick, although the food could be served a little faster now and then. What made the visit less pleasant, however, was the reaction of the manager when our 1.5 year old dropped some rice and a piece of broccoli on the floor. We were asked if we could "control" our child and keep a closer eye on him. For parents with young children, it is good to know that there is little understanding here for normal toddler behavior. So if you come with a little one, be aware that you may be unexpectedly addressed and that they will not tolerate any contradiction. Tip for the restaurant: perhaps do not allow toddlers. Then you do not have to pick up food from the floor (something these parents always clean up).

The food was all very tasty, we tried as much as possible. From soup to sushi some fried things and everything was tasty. We had our doubts about the fact that you could only order once every 12 minutes but we found that it flowed together well. We didn't really "wait" for 1 moment before we could order again. Concept is just not very cheap.

I am super positive about Sukiya! From the moment you enter you feel welcome. The restaurant looks modern and cozy, and the atmosphere is relaxed. What I especially like is that you can enjoy here without a time limit - that makes it much less rushed than other all-you-can-eat restaurants. The food is really great: fresh sushi, original dishes (such as sushi with melted cheese and sushi burgers!), and also warm dishes such as Peking duck and chicken buns were delicious. Everything is served quickly and neatly, often even by a robot cat, which is super fun and unique. You can easily order via an iPad and it goes quickly. The service is friendly and alert, despite the fact that it is sometimes busy. I have been here several times now and every time the food is of high quality and the atmosphere is nice. Recommended for a cozy evening with friends, family or a date! I will definitely come back!

1 dish per 12 minutes is really worthless. Waiting so long for your dish. After 5 dishes (and if you order sushi, 4 pieces at a time) you will be further away for hours

The concept of being able to order 1 dish per 12 minutes is really worthless. Especially considering you get 4 pieces of sushi each time you order sushi. Wasabi is not sharp. Ended up having 12 rounds. But with a normal AYCA you have at least 5 dishes per round. Then you have more variety. Furthermore, the reception by the owner was mediocre... I also found the staff to be friendly. But never again. 42 euros for this is just a shame.

We were 2/3 rounds behind with our food before you get your food you are already not hungry anymore, which is a pity :(

Ate here last Thursday with my sister. Was very nice restaurant! Furthermore, I thought the service was very nice and it was also very clean! I really loved the tourledou with pepper sauce! I also thought the sushi was very good! For the one with chicken! My sister also liked the shrimp and salmon! Definitely recommended!

My 1 year old dropped some food on the floor. Owner came and cleaned it up and said that this is not possible. When I asked if he had children he said he had children but didn't do this. Indirectly he says that a child should eat like an adult!!!

Today we had dinner at Sukiya in Haarlem with my wife and our 1.5 year old son. Our child was a bit active, as you would expect from a toddler, but was not acting excessively at all. To our great surprise, the owner suddenly came up to us and started shouting loudly and rudely: “What kind of child is this?!” – totally inappropriate and embarrassing. Instead of understanding or friendliness, we received an aggressive attitude that is absolutely not appropriate for a catering establishment. We felt extremely unwelcome and left with a bad feeling. Sukiya Haarlem is clearly not a child-friendly restaurant, and the way customers are treated here is downright scandalous!!!! I absolutely do NOT recommend this restaurant!!!

Personally I really liked the food, but not the concept of ordering every 12 minutes. Service was great just a few mistakes here an there but thats normal. The atmosphere was great till the end, where drunk people from outside came inside to use the womans bathroom. I was washing my hands when 2 woman and 1 man came inside, drunk and went inside 1 bathroomstall. It was not a nice feeling and I just immediatly went outside of the bathroom. When paying they ran outside giggling and laughing, they were not even customers who went to eat there. I adressed this to an employee. Not a nice experience for this fancy restaurant.

Yesterday we had the opportunity to eat at this place for our 16th anniversary, and we can say: Hidden gem! We had made a reservation for 5:00 PM. I indicated that we had never been here and we received a calm, good explanation of the concept. You could order a new dish every 12 minutes, at first I thought: that's long. But it always came to the table quite quickly, so it turned out to be an ideal, well-thought-out concept, we didn't have to wait unnecessarily long at all. What I thought was perfect was that you could sit as long as you wanted, so you didn't feel rushed at all and you could enjoy all the goodies in peace. We thought the dishes were really delicious and everything was beautifully presented. The restaurant quickly filled up and despite that it was not noisy at all. There was a very nice atmosphere. We thought the quality/price ratio was really good because the dishes are larger than the average all you can eat and therefore perfect for sharing. All in all an asset for Schalkwijk. We enjoyed ourselves immensely at Sukiya, and will definitely come back! Kind regards and many thanks from table 46 :-) :-).

Highly recommended if you go to Haarlem for a day, delicious dishes and the concept is slightly different from the other allyoucaneats. You can sit without a time slot and order 1 dish per person per round. This makes the dishes a lot more luxurious in appearance and taste. The dishes are brought by robots and there is also plenty of choice for the little ones.

Had a delicious meal with my girlfriend and the kids. After a day of shopping in Haarlem, a nice place to relax and enjoy real tasty sushi (and more) Recommended!

Eat at Tatsu haarlem instead. Sukiya's business model seems to be: "Serve slow, keep people ordering drinks". For an "all you can eat", this place does not want to let you eat much. You can order 1 item per person per 12 minutes!!! Ridiculous. Every other AYCA I've been to allows you to order 4-5 items per 15 minutes. Also, dessert is not included, and drinks are a whopping 3.70 each! This place is way too expensive compared to just about every other AYCA in the area. The website also claims "we don't serve tap water", which is actually mandatory BY LAW. The plating is very pretty, but the food was too fat, too salty, portions too small, and not enough choices. Aside that the "sides" such as rice, french fries etc could be ordered with no time limit, and the other food usually comes with a ton of sauce or chunky greens. The business model here is WAY too focused on profit, and not enough on the customer. I value my time too much to spend it watching a timer go down to come here again. It needs a better setup to justify the price they dare ask for dinner.

Worst all you can eat sushi restaurant ever! Poor value for money, the menu is very limited and not varied, and if you are really a sushi lover, then you have nothing to do here. No nigiris, no gunkan, no Temaki!!! Not even the basic maki. Only makis that they let swim in mayo and sweet soya sauces. Dessert is not included, you pay extra for sashimi despite the price, and per round you can only choose 1 item per person and then wait another 12 minutes. In short, a very mediocre sushi restaurant...

Very good cuisine. Nice concept. Slightly larger portions and all you can eat but unhurried. A bit more pricey, but the quality is also slightly better. In short, definitely worth 4 stars.

What a joke. You may order 1 dish per 12 minutes, and you may also order rice or fries. Very smart because people quickly get full of these two things. Drinks are not included, but drinks consumption is mandatory? Why am I obliged to order something? I have had much better food at other places with affordable prices. In addition, I find 42 euros absurd for a restaurant located in Haarlem Schalkwijk. Had it been Amsterdam, it would of course be a different story. Moral of the story; I don't think it's worth my money for food that I can get from a takeaway for the same quality.

Yesterday we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Sukiya in Haarlem. The quality of the food and the nice atmosphere make it a must for an evening with your partner, friends or family!

If you are looking for a good all you can eat, I definitely recommend Sukiya. The food comes very quickly, but that's it. The lamb and tenderloin were nice and tender, the sushi is fine for what you pay and the tuna tacos are very simple but tasty. Definitely recommended and a return!

Top restaurant. Works here with an all you can eat concept but high quality. You order 1 dish each time, so you enjoy your food much more. The flavors are very good. You can eat here all evening without a time limit (of course until the kitchen closes). It is a pity that the simple desserts are available at an additional cost. Food is served quickly.

Super cool restaurant and concept. Not a standard AYCE, but one with a culinary tour de force without time duration and no rounds. Food great! Staff top! Interior top! Everything fits together. You're not on top of each other either. Delicious cocktails (€12 per person) I wanted to taste all the exclusive dishes on the menu, but we will save that for next time. The only thing I didn't like was the tuna taco. I really thought I was getting a taco, but unfortunately it was Pringles chips.

Have eaten it several times and it remains delicious! Fresh sushi, cozy atmosphere and less noise like in other all you can eat restaurants. Every dish tastes good and is served quickly. The tables are also not too close together, which is often the case in other restaurants.

Very nice place. We have been here twice now. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The acoustics are good. It is big, but you don't notice it because there are all kinds of nice "corners". The food is all beautifully prepared and it all tastes equally delicious. Service is also more than excellent! We will be back again in 2 weeks!

Good food good service but little contact due to tablet and robots. But certainly a nice restaurant where you can spend the entire evening.

Recently ate at Sukiya, a very beautiful and stylishly decorated restaurant. However, the food was quite disappointing, you can choose from approx. 8 types of Sushi, all equally tasteless, also had the Bisque soup, which was quite sour and not full of flavor, I think it had been there for a few days. And then the chicken cubes with Japanese mayonnaise, tasty, but a chicken nugget from McDonalds tastes better. Other dishes were tasty but nothing special. All in all, the price of € 41.00 per person is far too high for what you get. The far too high price does not even include desserts, you have to pay for them separately. I assume that there are better AYCE restaurants in Haarlem, fortunately here in Brabant. The shopping center where the restaurant is located is just one big gribus, where you'll be run over by all that scum on Fatbikes.

We enjoyed it so much at Sukiya, every 12 minutes you could order a new dish and you could sit as long as you wanted. The food was truly delicious! The Sushis were very tasty and the other dishes were also beautifully presented and came to the table quickly.

Food was pretty good, but you can only order one thing ever 12 minutes including side dishes, so the high price isn't reasonable. Staff was very kind in helping my partner with food allergens.

I think it is a great place with delicious food and I was pleasantly surprised. All dishes are simply delicious, the sushi was top notch and the meat was wonderfully soft, a beautiful and trendy restaurant with friendly service... in short, highly recommended... and to think that the center of Schalkwijk is becoming even more beautiful, so this restaurant is located on a top spot...
