We ate there as a couple. I did have my reservations after reading the reviews. But in my opinion, if your coffee or fries are cold or lukewarm, just report it. Then the staff can do something about it, rather than putting it on the internet. Everything we had was super tasty and the atmosphere was cozy. And a person complaining about her dog; it is an open kitchen, so it is quite something that dogs are allowed inside. And you should have brought your own bowl of water, and your dog can easily go without water for a while while you are out eating. It was quiet, but you have to know it's there, and then you will naturally go more often.

Somewhat dated location. Self-service, selection somewhat limited.

I found the service very poor. She also spoke broken Dutch. And the time between courses was also very long, even though it was quiet. And when settling the bill, she was unable to do it independently. I had to call someone, and it eventually worked out via video call.

Arrival was friendly and businesslike. The setting was neat, as discussed. The table was kept to our schedule throughout the evening, so it was important that we were given plenty of time. A drink and platter beforehand, good food, and the service was neatly taken care of. It looked delicious, and the taste and presentation met all expectations. We rewarded and expressed the staff's calmness and empathy. Dessert was a wonderful treat to savor. We headed home with a nightcap. Thanks again.

It must be said, the view is beautiful. The food served, much less so. My wife and I had a cappuccino beforehand. No cookie with it, as is often customary—a small effort, we thought. The food was downright bad. My wife had a satay menu with fries. The satay seemed reheated, not crispy, and lukewarm to boot. The accompanying tasteless sauce looked like it was pulled from a bucket. The fries were limp and lukewarm, looking like leftovers from a previous round. My hamburger was certainly not homemade. I suspect it came from a box with multiple pieces (from the freezer guy?). For some reason, I had two on a bun, which in this case certainly added no value. The hamburger seemed to consist partly of meat and partly of binding agent, and had a rubbery mouthfeel. The fries were the same as described above. Not a single lettuce leaf with it either. You had to buy the Remia fries sauce separately, about 10 ml per container, at €0.80 each. In short, not service orientation but routine laziness seemed to be the guiding principle; not exactly a good advertisement for a business that seems to have gone downhill over the past few years. I did lose €52, but they put a half-full plate in the disposal container—you have to do that yourself too.

The food was reasonably good, but the self-service concept didn't work very well. You had to get up yourself to pass your food, but then still had to wait a long time. The staff were generally friendly, but not towards each other; that didn't come across as professional. Of course, it was in a beautiful location.

We have been loyal customers of restaurant De Grevelingen for about 35 years, but we have truly never experienced anything like this before: our dog is suddenly no longer given a bowl of water because otherwise the parquet floor would curl up! We were really very angry! Our dog is part of our family! It turned out that the woman was new, unfriendly, and also a manager! There was always super friendly staff who would bring out a bowl of water as soon as they saw our dog! In any case, we are not coming back now! There are plenty of other restaurants!

There are 7 of us here, adults and 2 children... ordered 3 chicken bellies, got everything... ordered chicken salads and got them, ordered cappuccino and got it... ordered 2 salmon... only got salmon with sauce... no fries... so I told the staff that fries were missing from the 2 salmon... The staff eventually brought the fries and looked at our plate as if we were lying about not getting fries... Our plate was probably swapped with the à la carte one... I'm certainly not going to lie to get fries for free... We come here often... but after this incident and how the staff reacted, this is our last time... (the staff wasn't very nice while ordering food either...) probably new staff...

Visited self-service. There was only one vegetarian option for the main course, which was a shame. It wasn't a large portion either, but it tasted good.

Nothing special, with the exception of the view. And I guess you pay for that beautiful view. The food wasn't special, a bit tasteless, really too expensive for what you get.

The food is tasty. It also looks clean. But if someone helps me and I have to start speaking English because she doesn't speak Dutch, I consider that a major downside. And yes, the price, you know.

I have never eaten such bad fries and kibbeling in my life. As tough and dry as a shoe sole. The staff wasn't exactly pleasant either.

Actually, two restaurants. One where you get your drinks at a counter and order at the cash register. And one à la carte. We went for option 1. For the mussels. There were 3 different flavors. And since there were three of us, we ordered 3 different ones. We could sit inside or outside. The à la carte section is clearly marked. We looked for a spot outside, in the shade of a parasol. Beautiful view! The mussels were brought to us. Tasting each other's. But actually, we liked the Dutch ones best. But perhaps that is also what you look forward to: the familiar. The mussels were served with a tasty salad and fries. You do have to bring your own mayonnaise when ordering. Another drink, coffee afterwards. You have to get that yourself though. The staff is very friendly. We briefly looked at the other menu, the à la carte one. But for us, it was fine as it was. There is a large parking lot. I have trouble with stairs, but I was able to bypass them easily. It is quite a large restaurant, but it wasn't very busy. We were there on Friday from about 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. It was a nice and tasty outing.

I don’t know whether my expectation of having food on the table after 1-1/2 is too high? If that is the case then I’m sorry. Otherwise, this place is so slow that I can watch the Mussels growing up. Come for the atmosphere. DON’T COME if you are expecting to finish dinner in less than 3 hours.

Delicious food, relatively expensive, even on the self-service terrace. Great view and quiet location.

1- The service is so bad and it takes more than 45 minutes to get your food. 2- If you are coming from Social Deal, you have to pay a lot of extras for nonsense and you have almost no food choices: 3 types of soup, 4 main courses and that was it, and yet you still have to pay extra. I would not recommend it and certainly would not come back.

14.50 for a tuna salad sandwich, are you alright, Netherlands?

We wanted a cup of coffee. It wasn't really clear whether it was self-service or if we would be served at a table. After waiting for a reasonable amount of time, we went to get a cup of coffee anyway. Unfortunately, the coffee we received was cold. We actually left immediately.

Go and try it out yourself. Be aware that there are sections on the terrace where you have to order inside.

It's so beautiful there, the service was excellent and the food was very good.

Fine restaurant, but the pasta calimara was really very small. And we are really not big eaters. Small plate for €25 self-service. I had sole, nothing wrong with that. But the fries that came with it were soggy and tasteless. All in all, not a treat. Sorry.

Where some little mistakes but the chef fixed it properly to us. Thanks again.

A wonderfully quiet and spacious restaurant where we have now had two delicious meals. Our children, aged 11 and 14, also enjoyed the food both times. Beautiful view, cozy alcoves with round tables, and very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely be back 👌🏻

the service was terrible. Never in my life, i have felt that uncomfortable with and in a restaurant. The food was alright, but the choices are so limited. Definitely can’t not recommend, especially when you are not local apparently.

Beautiful place on the Grevelingen

We dined in the dining room without a reservation – we came spontaneously after a day trip. The service was friendly and pleasant, and the menu offered mid-range to high-priced dishes. The food was beautifully presented and delicious.

We came for the mussels. We called ahead and they were supposed to be available. Unfortunately not. So we went to eat somewhere else after all. Otherwise, it has always been fine and tasty here.

The food was okay. The waffle for dessert was unfortunately terrible. It was most likely leftover from the day before, as it was simply hard and dry; even the generous amount of powdered sugar didn't help. When we're on vacation again, we won't be coming here.

Nice view to the beach and water, friendly and professional staff, good food for reasonable prices. You may choose to seat and eat in the self service area, or in the à la carte room.

43.50! For 2 portions of fries with a croquette. The fries were undercooked and the croquettes inedible. We did get 8.50 back, though. That is not something we would do again.

Today we were served a spoiled croquette. We are never coming here again, also thanks to the Hilton prices they charge here. The dog, at least, was happy with the service.

The environment is nice. You can see the beautiful sea. Cake and bolognese are yummy. Taste of soup of the day is interesting.

Ordered kroket with white bread, plus a drink for 18euro. The kroket is the worst one i had for years: dry and distant sense of roten. Environment is good, toilet is clean, nice refuel station on the beach. Do not count on the food. Hope they can improve 1)safe food 2) delicious food, because the newly renovated restaurants seems expensive.

Spaciously situated on the Grevelingen with a beautiful panoramic view. The restaurant is spacious and very clean, but due to the spacious layout, it also lacks atmosphere. The service is excellent and the food is not bad. A fine place for a quick lunch or to sit comfortably on the terrace.

The food isn't particularly cafeteria-style. It is nice, though, to have a drink with an apple strudel.

Good and affordable food. Staff is friendly.

The situation keeps getting worse. There are no visible prices, you pay first and then still have to ask for the bill. And “apple strudel” apparently means a 3×7 cm piece for €5.50. If they’re cleaning the full storage area and clearing used plates, they expect you to stand there with all your things without “kindly” move aside but they talk english "there" even we talk dutch. This is the bare minimum of service, especially when customers are already expected to clean their own tables.

We drove past here around lunchtime. The restaurant is situated in a unique location by the water with a great view. The restaurant consists of two parts, which we only discovered later. We ordered in the self-service restaurant. The food we ordered was brought to the table quickly and courteously. If we are ever in the area again, a second visit is certainly not out of the question.

Delicious food and a nice atmosphere👌

The benches are broken, which looks very shabby. It ruins the atmosphere. The chairs are intact, though, and all sorts of things, which makes it more inviting. Tip: Remove the cushions and blankets. Very unhygienic.

It had been years since we'd eaten here, and we weren't impressed. We decided to give it another try and give it a second chance. Upon entering, the staff was joking around with each other. Well... Terribly poor food for a truly exorbitant price. I had a trio of fish, three different kinds, which were too much, lacking any flavor, and the different fish tasted just the same. The mayonnaise on the fries had a yellowed layer on it. It had probably been sitting there for days. No, the food is truly awful, and the price is far too high. It's a shame, because the restaurant is in a truly beautiful location. Too bad, again. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!!!

Unfortunately, it was self-service. I ordered food, kibbeling (fried fish) with fries. Unfortunately, no sauce was provided with the fish. Mayo stick cost 50 cents. No atmosphere...

Just good, nothing more, nothing less

Unfortunately, the sole, salmon, and tuna were very dry. And I've never had a restaurant say, "Sorry, we don't have that anymore, it's gone" at 6:00 PM. We wanted to order a drink, but it's not on the menu, and they couldn't tell us what they had...so we won't be back!

The staff was friendly, which explains the two stars. The food wasn't great; the fries were refried and the meat was full of tendons. Dessert wasn't a dame blance (or however you spell it), but hazelnut ice cream without chocolate sauce. We won't be returning.

Part of the restaurant was very busy because of a bus ful of tourists so service was a little slower. There was a more formal ding area that was quiet. Food was delicious. Beautiful view of the water.

The staff speaks little to no Dutch! We don't have apple strudel, so that's out of the question. The tables, chairs, and benches are completely worn out, the seats and cushions brown with dirt. Food scraps are smudged under the benches and along the flower boxes. The tables are dirty, sticky, and haven't been cleared!!! The list goes on. You can't call this a restaurant anymore. A great project for Rob Geus. I'll never see you again.

The food was delicious, better than expected! And the waiter was friendly, and he even gave us an extra dessert.

Was here on Boxing Day with Nooteboom Tours. We all enjoyed the Christmas dinner. Venison steak: a tip, it was tasty, but the steak could be cooked a little more. Also fries, salad, and fried potato slices. And for starters, a platter with crusty bread, tapenade, etc., but well presented. And the atmosphere was top-notch. At the end, a plate of sweets, also delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for Christmas. Everything looked very cozy in the Christmas spirit. Beautifully decorated. And importantly, the staff was top-notch.

Last October, my husband and I had our wedding at the Grevelingen restaurant. It was an unforgettable evening. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was perfectly arranged. Communication before the wedding also went very smoothly. The contact person responded quickly to emails and other inquiries. Thank you for an unforgettable evening!

I liked the place, it is very cozy, spacious and in a scenic place near water! Restaurant team is very welcoming! I tried mushroom soup which was really amazing! Apple strudel tasted delicious! Also a great location for an event or celebration. Highly recommend to visit!

Nice spot after a walk. On the Grevelingen lake.

Very disappointed. The price-quality ratio is completely out of balance. There's a wine list on the table, but more than half of it was unavailable. It was the same story with the desserts: Ben & Jerry's was on the menu, but they were out of stock. I ordered fresh ginger tea – also listed on the menu – with a slice of orange or lemon. The waitress even went looking for citrus, only to return and say they didn't have either. How can a restaurant not have lemon? It's a staple used in almost every kitchen. The service also left a lot to be desired. After the main course, it took a very long time for someone to come and clear the table. In the end, we had to ask for attention ourselves and immediately request the dessert menu. The waiter replied that we would get it as soon as he had cleared the table, but then hung around in the kitchen. We even had to ask a second waiter to get it. In short: an evening full of missed opportunities, frustration, and disappointment. Such a shame. The starters (fish plate and scampi) were delicious as well as the main courses (sole and ribs), the pork tenderloin was too little and also too dry.

The restaurant appears to consist of two parts: a "self-service" section and an "À la carte" section. And yes, folks, if you make a reservation at the self-service section, it's normal to pick up your own food and drinks and open the bottles yourself. This is inherent to the concept and the associated price. We tried the "À la carte" section through a Social Deal offer. The welcome was extremely friendly, and we were allowed to choose our own seats. It took a while for the waiters, who were extremely friendly, to arrive to ask if we wanted a drink and to bring the "menu." I couldn't help but think they had a special menu for Social Deal customers. It was just a simple black-and-white printed A4 sheet that they had laminated. The menu's appearance was bland, yet it wasn't really clear what the dishes were. When we were taking our choices, they also couldn't tell us what the "chef's dessert" was. All in all, the order was taken, and while we enjoyed our drinks, we looked around the restaurant. It looked neat, clean, and tidy, something some restaurants could learn from. Gradually, we saw other customers getting their dishes while we were still quietly waiting. It took a really long time for our appetizer, and miraculously, we received a platter of bread and spreads along with it. I had expected the platter of spreads a bit earlier, and I can't help but feel like they'd forgotten about us. Anyway, now for the part we went out for, and we were pleasantly surprised. The platter of bread and spreads was absolutely delicious. The bread was fresh, and the spreads were tasty and in decent quantities, allowing you to fill your sandwiches properly. The appetizer was also delicious, with good, fresh ingredients. After the appetizer, we ordered a drink, and unfortunately, it took a while again to arrive. When they finally came to collect the empty plates, we were asked if we wanted our main course. The answer "yes" was barely out of the bag before it was served. Not that it mattered, as we'd already been lingering for quite some time. This main course was also what you'd expect, except that they'd topped the schnitzel with cheese and other garnishes and melted them briefly in the oven. As a result, the schnitzel was saturated with the cheese, and you practically couldn't taste the schnitzel itself. It was nice that they tried something different with schnitzel, but in my opinion, it wasn't entirely successful. It wasn't that it was terrible, but if I had been able to tell from the menu, I certainly wouldn't have ordered it. My girlfriend had the fish, and it was simply delicious. They'd made a nice crispy crust on it, which definitely added to the experience. After the main course, we were able to linger for another half hour before dessert (which we didn't know what we were getting) was served. This also looked delicious and was certainly good. They clearly didn't skimp on the whipped cream, and the ice cream was deliciously fresh and good (without ice crystals). All in all, the food was good, and we certainly weren't left wanting. Finally, I stopped by the restroom. It looked neat there too, but the placement of the soap dispenser was a bit odd. It was mounted on the wall between the mirror and the sink, leaving only a tiny bit of room to put your hand underneath to get soap. Not very convenient, but at least it was clean and stocked. When I left the restroom, I was glad the door wouldn't lock, as the handle was broken. If it locked, you wouldn't be able to open the door from the inside.

After a long search, we found this place through a friend, and the service was excellent. We asked if they served kibbeling (fried fish), but the employee told us it was only available for lunch. My friend asked if he could ask. He told us they were still serving it. We enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly... definitely recommended. 😊👍

It's always baffling that even when a restaurant isn't even busy, there are still dirty tables. Perhaps there's a better atmosphere in nice weather and with a bit more activity, but on a weekday lunchtime, there's absolutely no atmosphere.

If you're interested in a fun Fawlty Towers evening, I would definitely recommend making a reservation here! The staff frantically runs around with trays, looking for the table. Taking the starter's cutlery is less simple than you might think: it was still there by the end of the meal. The main course (mussels) was mediocre: you can argue about whether they were cooked properly, but if it resembles a raw oyster, it's definitely not cooked. The price was definitely for the better (larger) mussels, but unfortunately, the selection went to the smallest size. A bit of a shame. Spareribs at €30 per portion is quite expensive; you don't order half a pig or anything. For dessert, we made it quite difficult: two different desserts! It turned out to be difficult indeed: one dish arrived 20 minutes after the other. Clearing the table was another challenge: the man wanted to take everything at once, but guess what? That wasn't going to happen... A+ for creativity, though: he tossed the dirty cutlery loose on the table and left with the rest of the dishes. He even came back for the cutlery, but "forgot" to wipe the table with a cloth (nice for your clothes...), even though it was expertly draped over his shoulder. Upon leaving, it turned out that clearing the table was indeed a challenge: a table for about six people was still full of dirty dishes, gnawed bones, and half-eaten waffles gleaming next to people who were still enjoying their meal... Enjoy! Next time, I'll go to a real restaurant. Such a shame about this place; it had so much potential. It turns out the hospitality industry is truly for professionals, not for well-meaning amateurs.

Too few options if you want coffee or tea with something to eat in the morning. Also a bit pricey for a small piece of pastry (+4.00). There's no toilet paper in the ladies' restrooms around 11:30 in the morning. (So it's not cleaned then, otherwise you'll see it's gone.) It's also a shame that passersby aren't welcome to use the restroom. Put a container aside for that and pay 50 cents.

Last Wednesday, we went back for dinner after a long time. Unfortunately, there's a new owner, and we ordered fried mussels, but they looked like they'd just been reheated. They were covered in so many spices that you didn't feel like you were eating mussels. The ambiance was also much worse. You could choose between painful wicker bucket chairs, school chairs, or uncomfortable, ugly white chairs with brown streaks. There were plenty of cushions with dirty stains. We sat by the window, and it was covered in insect droppings. It's a real shame the place has deteriorated so much.

On September 6, 2025, we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at De Grevelingen restaurant. What a celebration and what great service. The food, service, and warm welcome were fantastic.

We ate in on September 9th. A bit on the expensive side. The windows were all grimy. Dust on the lamps. There was a lot of trash on the floor. It's a shame because the interior itself is very nice. The lady at the counter was very friendly.

We've been coming here for years. You pay a price for the experience and excellent food. Unfortunately, it's now become a self-service and takeout place; it's simply better to just eat at the Grote M. We ran out of cutlery, the top of the sandwich wasn't on, man, oh man, what a disaster. The people who bring the food don't even know where the tables are, they're just searching for them. What a catering company this has become; it's an insult to the catering industry. I wouldn't recommend sitting here; you have to arrange it yourself via QR code and you're no longer being served. You have to clear your own table yourself 🤣, which you pay a fortune for. No, you'll never see us here again. Shame on you if you own this restaurant. Please remove the word "restaurant" from the facade.

We celebrated our daughter and son-in-law's wedding here on Friday. Everything was perfectly organized, from the outdoor ceremony to the evening party. The people were wonderful; I can't think of anything that was not perfect. We had a wonderful time. Thank you for everything.

Unfortunately, it's not a restaurant. You pay a lot for self-service. You have to order at the counter, arrange your own cutlery (if there's any, because we ran out of forks), open bottles, and then return everything to a tray (if there's room, because the dirty dishes were piled so high we had to put them on the floor). And the food is tasteless, and the staff just keeps running back and forth to bring the food. A La Place is ten times better, and you get more for your money. We won't be back.

The food was delicious, the venue was beautifully decorated, and the plants were beautifully cared for. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Faded glory. Ordering via QR code is convenient, and you pay immediately, but then waiting about 20 minutes for your order is too long. One of the waitresses didn't speak Dutch and spoke mediocre English. The view is and remains fantastic.
