Ordered kroket with white bread, plus a drink for 18euro. The kroket is the worst one i had for years: dry and distant sense of roten. Environment is good, toilet is clean, nice refuel station on the beach. Do not count on the food. Hope they can improve 1)safe food 2) delicious food, because the newly renovated restaurants seems expensive.

The situation keeps getting worse. There are no visible prices, you pay first and then still have to ask for the bill. And “apple strudel” apparently means a 3×7 cm piece for €5.50. If they’re cleaning the full storage area and clearing used plates, they expect you to stand there with all your things without “kindly” move aside but they talk english "there" even we talk dutch. This is the bare minimum of service, especially when customers are already expected to clean their own tables.

We drove past here around lunchtime. The restaurant is situated in a unique location by the water with a great view. The restaurant consists of two parts, which we only discovered later. We ordered in the self-service restaurant. The food we ordered was brought to the table quickly and courteously. If we are ever in the area again, a second visit is certainly not out of the question.

The benches are broken, which looks very shabby. It ruins the atmosphere. The chairs are intact, though, and all sorts of things, which makes it more inviting. Tip: Remove the cushions and blankets. Very unhygienic.

It had been years since we'd eaten here, and we weren't impressed. We decided to give it another try and give it a second chance. Upon entering, the staff was joking around with each other. Well... Terribly poor food for a truly exorbitant price. I had a trio of fish, three different kinds, which were too much, lacking any flavor, and the different fish tasted just the same. The mayonnaise on the fries had a yellowed layer on it. It had probably been sitting there for days. No, the food is truly awful, and the price is far too high. It's a shame, because the restaurant is in a truly beautiful location. Too bad, again. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!!!

The staff speaks little to no Dutch! We don't have apple strudel, so that's out of the question. The tables, chairs, and benches are completely worn out, the seats and cushions brown with dirt. Food scraps are smudged under the benches and along the flower boxes. The tables are dirty, sticky, and haven't been cleared!!! The list goes on. You can't call this a restaurant anymore. A great project for Rob Geus. I'll never see you again.

Was here on Boxing Day with Nooteboom Tours. We all enjoyed the Christmas dinner. Venison steak: a tip, it was tasty, but the steak could be cooked a little more. Also fries, salad, and fried potato slices. And for starters, a platter with crusty bread, tapenade, etc., but well presented. And the atmosphere was top-notch. At the end, a plate of sweets, also delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for Christmas. Everything looked very cozy in the Christmas spirit. Beautifully decorated. And importantly, the staff was top-notch.

Very disappointed. The price-quality ratio is completely out of balance. There's a wine list on the table, but more than half of it was unavailable. It was the same story with the desserts: Ben & Jerry's was on the menu, but they were out of stock. I ordered fresh ginger tea – also listed on the menu – with a slice of orange or lemon. The waitress even went looking for citrus, only to return and say they didn't have either. How can a restaurant not have lemon? It's a staple used in almost every kitchen. The service also left a lot to be desired. After the main course, it took a very long time for someone to come and clear the table. In the end, we had to ask for attention ourselves and immediately request the dessert menu. The waiter replied that we would get it as soon as he had cleared the table, but then hung around in the kitchen. We even had to ask a second waiter to get it. In short: an evening full of missed opportunities, frustration, and disappointment. Such a shame. The starters (fish plate and scampi) were delicious as well as the main courses (sole and ribs), the pork tenderloin was too little and also too dry.

Arrival was friendly and businesslike. The setting was neat, as discussed. The table was kept to our schedule throughout the evening, so it was important that we were given plenty of time. A drink and platter beforehand, good food, and the service was neatly taken care of. It looked delicious, and the taste and presentation met all expectations. We rewarded and expressed the staff's calmness and empathy. Dessert was a wonderful treat to savor. We headed home with a nightcap. Thanks again.

The restaurant appears to consist of two parts: a "self-service" section and an "À la carte" section. And yes, folks, if you make a reservation at the self-service section, it's normal to pick up your own food and drinks and open the bottles yourself. This is inherent to the concept and the associated price. We tried the "À la carte" section through a Social Deal offer. The welcome was extremely friendly, and we were allowed to choose our own seats. It took a while for the waiters, who were extremely friendly, to arrive to ask if we wanted a drink and to bring the "menu." I couldn't help but think they had a special menu for Social Deal customers. It was just a simple black-and-white printed A4 sheet that they had laminated. The menu's appearance was bland, yet it wasn't really clear what the dishes were. When we were taking our choices, they also couldn't tell us what the "chef's dessert" was. All in all, the order was taken, and while we enjoyed our drinks, we looked around the restaurant. It looked neat, clean, and tidy, something some restaurants could learn from. Gradually, we saw other customers getting their dishes while we were still quietly waiting. It took a really long time for our appetizer, and miraculously, we received a platter of bread and spreads along with it. I had expected the platter of spreads a bit earlier, and I can't help but feel like they'd forgotten about us. Anyway, now for the part we went out for, and we were pleasantly surprised. The platter of bread and spreads was absolutely delicious. The bread was fresh, and the spreads were tasty and in decent quantities, allowing you to fill your sandwiches properly. The appetizer was also delicious, with good, fresh ingredients. After the appetizer, we ordered a drink, and unfortunately, it took a while again to arrive. When they finally came to collect the empty plates, we were asked if we wanted our main course. The answer "yes" was barely out of the bag before it was served. Not that it mattered, as we'd already been lingering for quite some time. This main course was also what you'd expect, except that they'd topped the schnitzel with cheese and other garnishes and melted them briefly in the oven. As a result, the schnitzel was saturated with the cheese, and you practically couldn't taste the schnitzel itself. It was nice that they tried something different with schnitzel, but in my opinion, it wasn't entirely successful. It wasn't that it was terrible, but if I had been able to tell from the menu, I certainly wouldn't have ordered it. My girlfriend had the fish, and it was simply delicious. They'd made a nice crispy crust on it, which definitely added to the experience. After the main course, we were able to linger for another half hour before dessert (which we didn't know what we were getting) was served. This also looked delicious and was certainly good. They clearly didn't skimp on the whipped cream, and the ice cream was deliciously fresh and good (without ice crystals). All in all, the food was good, and we certainly weren't left wanting. Finally, I stopped by the restroom. It looked neat there too, but the placement of the soap dispenser was a bit odd. It was mounted on the wall between the mirror and the sink, leaving only a tiny bit of room to put your hand underneath to get soap. Not very convenient, but at least it was clean and stocked. When I left the restroom, I was glad the door wouldn't lock, as the handle was broken. If it locked, you wouldn't be able to open the door from the inside.

If you're interested in a fun Fawlty Towers evening, I would definitely recommend making a reservation here! The staff frantically runs around with trays, looking for the table. Taking the starter's cutlery is less simple than you might think: it was still there by the end of the meal. The main course (mussels) was mediocre: you can argue about whether they were cooked properly, but if it resembles a raw oyster, it's definitely not cooked. The price was definitely for the better (larger) mussels, but unfortunately, the selection went to the smallest size. A bit of a shame. Spareribs at €30 per portion is quite expensive; you don't order half a pig or anything. For dessert, we made it quite difficult: two different desserts! It turned out to be difficult indeed: one dish arrived 20 minutes after the other. Clearing the table was another challenge: the man wanted to take everything at once, but guess what? That wasn't going to happen... A+ for creativity, though: he tossed the dirty cutlery loose on the table and left with the rest of the dishes. He even came back for the cutlery, but "forgot" to wipe the table with a cloth (nice for your clothes...), even though it was expertly draped over his shoulder. Upon leaving, it turned out that clearing the table was indeed a challenge: a table for about six people was still full of dirty dishes, gnawed bones, and half-eaten waffles gleaming next to people who were still enjoying their meal... Enjoy! Next time, I'll go to a real restaurant. Such a shame about this place; it had so much potential. It turns out the hospitality industry is truly for professionals, not for well-meaning amateurs.

Too few options if you want coffee or tea with something to eat in the morning. Also a bit pricey for a small piece of pastry (+4.00). There's no toilet paper in the ladies' restrooms around 11:30 in the morning. (So it's not cleaned then, otherwise you'll see it's gone.) It's also a shame that passersby aren't welcome to use the restroom. Put a container aside for that and pay 50 cents.

Last Wednesday, we went back for dinner after a long time. Unfortunately, there's a new owner, and we ordered fried mussels, but they looked like they'd just been reheated. They were covered in so many spices that you didn't feel like you were eating mussels. The ambiance was also much worse. You could choose between painful wicker bucket chairs, school chairs, or uncomfortable, ugly white chairs with brown streaks. There were plenty of cushions with dirty stains. We sat by the window, and it was covered in insect droppings. It's a real shame the place has deteriorated so much.

We've been coming here for years. You pay a price for the experience and excellent food. Unfortunately, it's now become a self-service and takeout place; it's simply better to just eat at the Grote M. We ran out of cutlery, the top of the sandwich wasn't on, man, oh man, what a disaster. The people who bring the food don't even know where the tables are, they're just searching for them. What a catering company this has become; it's an insult to the catering industry. I wouldn't recommend sitting here; you have to arrange it yourself via QR code and you're no longer being served. You have to clear your own table yourself 🤣, which you pay a fortune for. No, you'll never see us here again. Shame on you if you own this restaurant. Please remove the word "restaurant" from the facade.

Unfortunately, it's not a restaurant. You pay a lot for self-service. You have to order at the counter, arrange your own cutlery (if there's any, because we ran out of forks), open bottles, and then return everything to a tray (if there's room, because the dirty dishes were piled so high we had to put them on the floor). And the food is tasteless, and the staff just keeps running back and forth to bring the food. A La Place is ten times better, and you get more for your money. We won't be back.

We were warmly welcomed. We ordered food, and the appetizer was delivered quickly and was really delicious. Then we had to wait for the main course, which took over an hour. When it finally arrived, we were gone within 10 minutes. Wow, that was terrible! The pepper sauce was spoiled, the schnitzel wasn't good either; I think it came straight from the freezer. The steak, the same fries, were limp and raw (rushed). We had this through a social deal, so everything was already paid for, so they won't feel much of it. I do have to say, though, that they should be careful with the waitress; she was excellent and was extremely embarrassed by the food we received.

We ate there today. We made a reservation for 5:00 PM at Van Dooren for 5 people through you. The starter arrived and was very tasty and promising. Then came the main course, which we had to wait an hour for. No, it wasn't busy. It was served...5 main courses: - 2 schnitzels with pepper cream sauce 1 pork tenderloin with pepper sauce 1 steak with mushroom sauce 1 chicken thigh. The pepper sauce was spoiled, and the waitress confirmed this. The schnitzels smelled sour and were inedible. The steak smelled sour and was also inedible. We returned the food. We didn't order dessert.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience at this beautiful location. The apple strudel was tasteless. The pasta was served practically cold, and I couldn't find a single grain of ground beef in this so-called Bolognese. No Parmesan either, but I could just barely find a few grains of grated young cheese at the bottom. What a disappointment and a shame for such a beautiful location. And to top it all off, a very grumpy manager.

Disappointing with both the service and the food. Half the menu was unavailable. The fries were only half-cooked, the steak had no flavor, the beef stew was bland, and the chicken fingers were rock-hard. It's a shame because the location is fantastic. We will definitely never return and advise against it.

Normally I don't write a review quickly but I find everything very disappointing. My family went there because we thought we would get nice food and on the pictures the restaurant looked cozy. But it was a disappointment, the service is not professional and the food was terribly bad. A few girls came walking without a smile. They pulled their faces as if they had to work. Food was lukewarm and rib eye was partly still blood so they asked if he wanted a new piece or if it was grilled again? You shouldn't ask such questions to your customer? You automatically give a new portion and apologize but that was not the case. Very unfortunate! Never again!!

Ate here via socialdeal......was terrible. Had ordered a schnitzel, but was more breadcrumbs than meat. I think it came from the freezer. Also the meat but also the fries were lukewarm and limp. It wasn't very busy but we still had to wait a long time for the food. It was terribly warm inside, which made it uncomfortable. Definitely not recommended!!

Normally I always write positive reviews but I have never eaten as bad as in this Grevelingen restaurant...what a worthless kitchen..the steak is cooked medium as standard but is cooked tough..when asking for a red steak in advance this is made up for with a free stick of mayonnaise..after that it is thrown on a grill and is served raw and cold...the cutlet is fried and tastes like Maggie, tough as a shoe sole. What bad food we will not/never go there again. One star is still too much.

Have been coming here for years but it is going downhill. No mayo with the fries and for a mini, really mini, bowl of salad you pay €4.95. A quick bite to eat costs €60.00 and the portions are getting smaller. Too bad, always came and come here with pleasure but now I'll go and have a look at verde4.

Wat een fijne verjaardagsavond hadden we bij Strandclub Horizon! Mooie locatie en sfeervol ingericht. Goed en lekker eten met een goede prijs/kwaliteitverhouding. Het culinaire hoogtepunt was het heerlijke en uitgebreide dessert dat we konden delen. En de bediening was goed en behulpzaam. Kortom: Strandclub Horizon is een echte aanrader en voor herhaling vatbaar!

Wir waren mit 2 Kindern vor Ort (3 und 5) und die Kinder wollten Bitterballen essen! Wir waren nicht in der Lage die Sachen zu bestellen weil man es nicht kombinieren konnte mit unserem Hauptessen Sorry absolutes NoGo gerade weil es Kinder sind -5* wäre noch zu viel an der Stelle!
