Restaurant Jaspers in Nieuwe Pijp

Ik was in mei bij dit restaurant en het blijft maar in mijn hoofd zitten. Normaal schrijf ik geen beoordeling, maar deze keer wil ik mijn ervaring toch delen. Tijdens mijn bezoek viel er glas en water op de grond, vlakbij de keuken en de bar, waar ik goed zicht op had. Een medewerker, een donkere man, kwam netjes met een doek om alles op te ruimen en wachtte rustig tot de gasten aan de kant waren. Op dat moment kwam de eigenaar naar hem toe en duwde hem ruw aan de kant, waardoor de medewerker bijna viel. De manier waarop dit gebeurde vond ik echt niet netjes; het had ook gewoon met woorden en respect opgelost kunnen worden. Excuses van de eigenaar heb ik ook niet gezien. Verder was het eten fantastisch – daar heb ik echt van genoten. Alleen jammer dat ik moest zien hoe de kok zo behandeld werd, dat heeft toch een nare indruk achtergelaten

The three of us sat at the chef's table, and it was a truly fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in, it felt very warm and personal. The location next to the kitchen is fantastic; you can see everything happening, and the chef and sommelier regularly stop by for a chat and explain what's on your plate. The menu was delicious: beautiful dishes, surprising combinations, and perfectly balanced. The wines paired perfectly and completed the meal perfectly. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service attentive without being stuffy, and you can tell everything is prepared with love and care. In short: an evening full of conviviality, delicious flavors, and a unique experience. Highly recommended!

Fantastic evening! We went to Jasper's yesterday with a group of five, and it was simply fantastic. The oyster with coconut, their signature dish, was incredibly delicious. The tomato dessert was also very surprising and delicious. The pairing wines, selected and explained by sommelier Tim (with a charming French accent), made it perfect. Tim was incredibly friendly, provided clear explanations, and really taught us a thing or two about wine and food. The teamwork with the kitchen was excellent, and everything was perfectly tailored to our wishes. Be surprised, just like us, and enjoy an evening you won't soon forget. Highly recommended!

What a fantastic place! I'd go back just for the amuse-bouches. Fantastic food, brilliant wines, friendly service. Everything was perfect! A real treat!

Geweldig restaurant, vast menu dat uitbreidbaar is met enige add-ons. Al vanaf de amuse waren we verkocht. Dit proefden we eerder alleen bij de Librije. Alle smaken perfect herkenbaar, en briljant naaar elkaar. Prachtigeopbouw. Keurige, deskundige (!) bediening. Niet goedkoop, maar dan heb je ook wat.

Brilliant restaurant. We were already sold on the amuse-bouche. We'd only previously tried this at De Librije. A three-course set menu, with optional add-ons. This means the chef can dedicate his full attention to his masterpiece. And the guests don't experience FOMO. All the complex dishes retain all the layers and nuances of texture and flavor, while still creating something new together. Not exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for.

We zijn hier vanavond geweest om mijn 50ste verjaardag te vieren en was zoals ik had gehoopt. Prachtig eten en goede bediening en heel mooi ook door de chef die ook aan tafel komt. Helemaal top. Vond het eten zeer lekker en erg mooi gepresenteerd en goed uitgelegd. Een aanrader. Dank jullie wel voor een mooie avond.

A not too big restaurant with an open kitchen. The tables are far enough apart to experience 'privacy'. The Service The service is well organized. A sommerlier for the wine who advises you with knowledge, enthusiasm and flexibility. If you have a different preference even though it is less suitable for the dish, you will be advised just as enthusiastically. You can also 'taste' wine by the glass and then make a choice. It is also nice that chef Jasper comes to your table. The service is continuously present without it becoming excessive. Food & Wine The menu is clear and consists of at least 3 dishes. You can supplement these with intermediate courses up to 7 courses. We had the oysters with foam of coconut, galangal, lemongrass and ginger as an aperitif. Delicious. Then we had the Dorade | Strawberry | Szechuan | rhubarb. A kind of ceviche-like taste, where a white wine with 'acid' is a good match. The next dish was a Steak Tartare prepared in a special way. As a main course there was cheek (don't remember which animal). This was super tender and full of flavours. My advice to combine this with Marrans (see photo). A light wine, but still strong enough (Beaujolais with power). The price is absolutely in proportion to the price and service. Parking in the city is expensive and difficult to find a spot.

First time eating here and what an experience! All dishes were just perfectly in harmony with each other. The service was also great! Definitely worth repeating.

El menú presentaba porciones pequeñas y opciones muy limitadas. Desafortunadamente, los platos adicionales no atrajeron a mi gusto, y dejé el restaurante todavía con hambre. Las bebidas tenían un precio excesivo con una variedad limitada, lo que aumentaba la frustración. En general, fue la peor experiencia gastronómica que he tenido en Amsterdam.

We had a delightful dinner at Restaurant Jaspers. It’s a 3-course prix fixe (the courses listed in boldface on the website: starter, main, dessert) with the option of adding up to 3 additional courses (+/- cheese selection) for an additional fee per course. This flexibility was a nice touch. We really enjoyed the creative flavor combinations with global inspiration (flavors like szechuan, Vietnamese pho, shiso). The sea bream starter with strawberry and rhubarb was especially standout. The staff were all very friendly and courteous and Chef Jasper circulates around the tables creating a warm atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Probably the best meal I’ve had in Amsterdam. Food and service were incredible. We had a big group in the private room and everyone left very happy. Will definitely be back.

Yesterday I had a delicious meal here with my girlfriend to celebrate the purchase of our new house. We enjoyed a four course dinner. Every dish was excellent! Especially the cod appetizer and the catfish were heavenly! And don't forget the "special" oysters! We are wine lovers but not real connoisseurs. Fortunately, our cheerful host gave us phenomenal advice on choosing the right alcoholic grape juices. Thanks to his expertise, we received the most suitable glasses for each taste sensation. Both he and Jasper took turns talking passionately about everything she presented to us. We had a very nice evening!

Excellent experience. The food is brilliantly conceived and thus very tasty! Everything is sourced locally and very fresh. The sea-bream course was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The service staff were very knowledgeable and helpful but it was great that head-chef Jasper came to check on us a number of times with explanations and recommendations. (It's an open kitchen so you can see the chefs working). My wife is not a lamb fan, but the lamb dish was amazing, and she cleaned the plate. The tasting menu worked really well and the portions were larger than you usually find and thus there is no way you could be hungry after eating here. Plenty of bread if you want it with an excellent white bean dip (they could put that in jars and sell it!). We recommend Jaspers highly--just a short tram ride from the city centre. Well worth the trip if you've visiting Amsterdam. Finally thanks to all at Jaspers for recognising my wife's significant birthday without ever mentioning the significant age! Class. David and Amy.

Cost effectiveness is the most fundamental principle of this restaurant. At the same time they are declaring the quality first priority. They pretend to be a fine restaurant but they are not. Just a good one. Prices are ok.

Vlakbij de bioscoop waar we heengingen wilden we wat anders dan de (overigens ook heel gezellige en leuke) overvolle cafés en restaurantjes daar om de hoek. Bij Jaspers was de ontvangst fijn en persoonlijk en het eten heel lekker en goed. Niet goedkoop en ook geen restaurant voor een snelle hap.

Dined here with my partner and had a fantastic evening. The open kitchen creates a nice dynamic, the atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is friendly and professional. The food is not only unique and creative, but above all delicious - clearly prepared with a lot of attention and craftsmanship. This is not a trend-sensitive place that goes along with hypes, but a reliable restaurant that has been delivering top quality for 14 years. Definitely recommended!

We dined at Jasper's last night to celebrate the birthday of my husband. It was such a very very good experience. The service is spot on! The employees are very accomodating and making sure we are well taken care of the entire evening. Every dish is presented and explained well. You can really tell that the entire team went to proper training for hospitality. Jasper himself also came to our table multiple times. It was really a nice experience. The food is absolutely delicious and specially made. The wines are good. If you can't decide which one to chose, no worries because they make suggestions according to your taste and of course what goes better with the food. I couldn't express here long enough how we enjoyed our dinner there. We will certainly come back again. Thank you Jasper and team!

Perfect diner here ! We had 6 dishes each super original and full of flavors. The poached oysters are a must !!! I will also always remember the pear/mushrooms dish and the fish with beurre blanc and chili. Céleri dessert was also unique and delicious. They have the most exquisite wine to pair with. Chef jasper is here to meet his guests, friendly. The service is perfect. I strongly recommend this place and we will definitely come back !

Kom er vaker, geen al te hippe wij-zijn- anders-houding, maar relatief klassieke stijl met vernieuwende recepten. Altijd weer een feest!

Tuvimos un tiempo maravilloso en Jaspers - el ambiente era muy acogedor y relajado mientras se sirve comida increíble. Todo el personal estaba muy bien informado sobre la comida y el vino (hicimos el maridaje que era genial! ) También muy servicial, ya que estoy libre de gluten (ellos tuvieron en cuenta esto para toda mi comida). Los sabores eran fantásticos! La cocina abierta era un toque muy agradable y el chef regularmente nos sirvió y habló con nosotros, lo que hizo una experiencia inolvidable. Muy recomendable!

Zeer goed restaurant. We zochten een gezellig, intiem en niet te massaal restaurant wat lopend te doen was vanaf het Concertgebouw. Na wat gegoogeld en diverse reviews gelezen te hebben, op dit restaurant uitgekomen. We bestelden een drie gangen diner. Heerlijke aparte gerechten die je zelf nooit klaarmaakt. Het is echt fine dining. Het zijn niet al te grote porties maar dat is altijd met fine dining. Tussendoor kregen we nog een verrassing en toen we nog een koffie op het einde bestelden, kregen we weer een verrassing. Toen zat ik ook wel vol. Over al het eten krijg je goede uitleg. Als we weer naar het Concertgebouw gaan, gaan we zeker daar weer dineren. We wonen niet dichtbij, anders waren we zeker meer keren gegaan.

Heerlijke avond gehad! Restaurants zoals Jaspers zie je niet veel meer in Amsterdam. Goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding, een super vriendelijk en kundig team, een comfortabele setting en bovenal een eigen karakter; niet de zoveelste kopie van hetzelfde concept.

Wij hebben ons 12,5 jaar huwelijk gevierd met een intiem etentje: mooi diner met uitgekiende wijnen, heel prettige en vlotte bediening en een heel prettige omgeving om lekker te zitten en rustig met elkaar te praten. Een heerlijke avond!

Met dieet werd rekening gehouden. De visnoedels met gamba, zo heerlijk. En de hertenstoof met rode ui zeer smaakvol. Kortom we komen terug

Zoals altijd uitmuntend. Wat een leuke avond hebben jullie ons bezorgd. Niet alleen het eten, maar ook de bijpassende wijntjes waren uitstekend.

Nos encantó la variedad de platos (que estaban muy bien hechos) , sabores ricos, el ambiente y el gran servicio. El personal era muy servicial, amable y profesional! Refined dishes with fresh ingredients. Wine arrangement fits in perfectly with this. Friendly and personal service. Excellent price/quality ratio. Tables are somewhat close together. Nevertheless, the combination of the service and the food makes for a memorable evening. Here you don't have to leave after an hour and a half like many other Amsterdam restaurants.

Voorafgaand aan het concert van Pink besloten om hier te dineren. Om 17 uur konden we terecht en we hebben zeker geen spijt van onze keuze voor dit restaurant. Wat een feestje om hier te mogen eten. Super vriendelijke gastheren die op een leuke manier uitleg gaven over het eten en de bijpassende wijnen. De gerechten waren een genot voor het oog, een plezier voor de smaakpapillen. Een dikke vette aanrader! Oh ja, we waren ook nog eens op tijd voor het concert!

Absolutely extraordinary! Wondrous food and amazing service. The chef proves the adage that “less is more” with the only menu option a substitution of the Lamb main for Halibut. Each dish a wonder and the wine pairing sublime! The halibut was one of the best dishes I’ve tasted in years. Having eaten in many Michelin 🌟 restaurants, Jasper reminded me why I feel the sweet spot is restaurants that deliver that level of quality but don’t care about the star, they are simply there to let their love of food shine through as they share it.

Had a great evening. Fine dining at its best. Lively view into the kitchen from the adjacent table. Nice! Pleasant, professional staff. Personal service. Enthusiastic chefs. The amuse with leak and magnolia was very surprising! The poached oyster with foam from Laos and lemongrass is a winner. Deliciously soft lamb shoulder that melts on your tongue. Almost completely Dutch cheese board. Dessert, bread and butter, was a little less successful in my opinion. Wines delicious and well chosen. Recommended and worth repeating!

Jaspers is a great experience! Upon entering you are overwhelmed by a wonderfully peaceful yet energetic atmosphere, partly created by the beautiful decor consisting mainly of soft earth colors combined with beautiful still lifes. Coats are accepted at the door by a friendly, funny yet extremely professional member of staff. After still or sparkling water is poured at the table, you can choose from a nice range of aperitifs, including a delicious alcohol-free sparkling (cold) tea. The sommelier also has a beautifully detailed history. After a short moment of rest with the refreshing drink, the appetizer is served. We opted for the oysters with a light but tasty salty foam, and again a detailed explanation was given to precisely indicate the different flavors. This is done for each dish by the sommelier, owner or one of the chefs. This makes each dish a real experience, by tasting and combining different flavors, a different aspect of the dish emerges each time. So the evening continues quietly. The dishes are served quickly but without haste. This gives you perfect time to process and discuss the flavors of the previous dish, but also to quietly continue your personal conversation. Since this was my first time fine dining, we joked a bit about still being hungry after dinner, but after a delicious and filling main course. In which the lamb gravy was a really great element (see photo 1). We no longer had any doubts that we would go home well-filled and extremely satisfied. This was only further assured with dessert. I can definitely say this was the icing on the cake. The bread and butter pudding was amazing (see photo2). Served with a whiskey cream with a delicious soft yet distinct taste. Although we were the last in the shop, we were able to enjoy our dessert in peace and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. All in all, Jaspers has been thought out down to the last detail and developed into a wonderful and relaxing experience that I recommend to everyone. Whether it's your first time or if you eat stars every week, Jaspers is definitely not to be missed. In any case, we will come back again!

Not the best food for the price that you pay. The soup with mussels in it was especially very salty. The main dish with meat was just like a stew meat, nothing fancy. I also didn't like that the cutlery was in boxes on the table and we had to grab them ourselves. Not a fine dining experience.

Great food, great service and a great evening. If you have to complain about something (and it costs 1* deduction): it is Amsterdam, but to charge €5 PER BOTTLE for homemade sparkling water and €5 PER glass for ginger tea with 2 pieces of ginger: poverty. It's a shame that this phenomenon has also struck here. As far as I'm concerned, it detracts a bit from the quality of the rest. 4.5 stars and not 5

Restaurant Jaspers has been our favorite restaurant in Amsterdam for years. The food is sublime and the menu is always surprising. We are also very charmed by Sommelier Tim and the delicious and always surprising wine arrangement. Jasper himself always has a chat and it feels like "coming home".

This is the kind of gourmet comfort food you'll come back for. Strong, warming flavors with an Asian touch here and there that embody winter in everything. And make you curious about the menus in other seasons. In addition to the food, the atmosphere in the restaurant also wraps you around like a warm blanket. We'll be back.

Atmosphere great, personal service by the staff is on top of the excellent food. Chef Jaspers take on the salade nicoise with Japanese touch just fabulous. A detail perhaps but important: the acoustics have been paid attention to.

Whenever we have friends visiting Amsterdam we recommend Restaurant Jaspers. The food, service, chef and overall dining experience are incredible. We always make it a point to get a reservation for a date night when we visit our family in the Netherlands.

Geweldig restaurant. Fantastische culinaire gerechten met een uitzonderlijk mooi wijnarrangement. Daarnaast zetten Jasper en zijn team een heerlijk ontspannen sfeer neer en was de timing van alle gerechten subliem.

Divine dinner experience Discovered this gem through restaurantweek and was amazed with the food, the service and the restaurant atmosphere! We did the four course menu and each one was a scrumptious piece of art. The servers and the host were also extremely attentive which made for a lovely evening

Jaspers is al jaren één van onze favoriete restaurants in Amsterdam. Zo eentje waarbij je genietend van het gerecht je ook weer ineens realiseert hoe lekker de ingrediënten zoals een simpele tuinboon eigenlijk is! En dat in een plezierige omgeving en met hele plezierige, niet te stijve bediening en goede wijnen.
