What was supposed to be a fun promotion from this restaurant turned into a huge disappointment for a lot of people this evening! FATHER'S DAY!! Tomahawk Sunday on Father's Day!! After waiting 2.5 hours for our dish and after asking multiple times where it was, we eventually left without eating! This restaurant is truly bizarrely bad! Zero communication from the kitchen. Even the wait staff didn't know what to say anymore. Several tables left angrily without eating. The tomahawks that were served (after really hours of waiting) went straight back to the kitchen, either too raw or cooked like a shoe sole. A real letdown! Such a shame because the menu promised something great!!

We had a reservation for 6:45 PM on Father's Day and came specifically for the tomahawk special. What a disappointment. We waited over 2.5 hours for our food. At 9:00 PM, we had to ask for the second time where it was. One waiter said "another half hour," 35 minutes later there was still nothing, so we asked again: "probably another 20 minutes." It was almost 10:00 PM, so we just asked for the bill. If you offer a special, make sure your kitchen and grill capacity are prepared for it. They receive all reservations well in advance, so this is pure misplanning. The bill also listed two appetizers that we hadn't ordered. And then to ask for "proof" of the deposit, which is mandatory via their own website — that takes the cake. Kita tries to project a chic image, but the organization is chaos: poor communication, poor planning, and faulty administration. The only positive thing is that the drinks were waived, but that changes nothing about the totally ruined evening. My father — who successfully ran a restaurant himself for 35 years — never received his tomahawk steak. For anyone who doesn't want to wait at least 2.5 hours for food: skip Kita.

Upon arrival, the tall young man (employee) told us very loudly that we had to report to the front desk without being welcomed first. Apparently, after parking the car, we did not arrive at the "correct" entrance... subsequently, upon arriving at the desk, there were two employees: a lady and a tall man wearing a colored waistcoat. The gentleman was bent forward and did not look at us for a single second, only staring at the female employee, making us feel absolutely unwelcome. Only when escorting us to the correct table, where he walked very quickly, did he speak minimally to us. The waitress who served our table was very attentive, though. The male employee who spoke to us rudely upon entry also gave us misinformation while serving and simply walked away when we asked follow-up questions regarding his lack of clarity... The food was also excessively expensive, absolutely not worth it. The fish was not fresh.

Unfortunately, our group dinner did not meet expectations. Although the staff was friendly and polite, the evening was very chaotic in terms of organization. There were several problems with the orders. Soups were served incorrectly, some guests did not receive a starter at all, and the portion sizes seemed incorrect. It also turned out that some non-alcoholic cocktails actually contained alcohol, which obviously should not happen. Additionally, the waiting times were very long. We arrived at 5:00 PM, but the main course was not served until around 9:30 to 10:00 PM. As a result, several colleagues had to leave early and missed dessert. Drinks were also frequently forgotten, and we had to ask for them multiple times. Furthermore, it was noticeable that dishes were not served simultaneously, meaning that part of the group was already eating while others had to wait for a long time. It seemed that the restaurant was insufficiently prepared for the size of our group and that the crowds were too high to ensure everything ran smoothly. Although we still managed to make it a pleasant evening together, the overall experience was disappointing. For an organized group dinner, we had expected more care, organization, and service.

Cozy place, but service is a bit slower after being served for the first time. Due to forgotten drinks. We were also set very late for the main course. The biggest red flag is that our wine bottle was placed on the armrest. I dropped it. And we received a 50 percent discount on the bottle (we only drank two glasses of it). We didn't get an apology or "I understand" after the bottle fell because it had been placed on the armrest. However, the sommelier had to be called for every wine issue, even though he wasn't present. All in all, they do their best, but you won't miss anything if you don't go there. You'd be better off at the Harbour Club (Rotterdam) or Metropole (The Hague). P.S.: There were four of us, and we paid after the main course. The bill was €359; with dessert and coffee, we would have ended up at about €450.

Un-believable, how good it is and what a beautiful place. The staff were dressed very smartly, were helpful, and extremely friendly. There were 6 of us men, and we came specifically for the 1 kg TOMAHAWK per person. See photos; it was perfectly prepared. The cooking was top-notch. It arrived at the table already nicely sliced ​​on a sturdy board. Accompanied by a delicious truffle sauce and a red wine sauce. Bimi and truffle fries on the side completed the experience perfectly. There was also a DJ playing great music, and no... not too loud. We will definitely be back again. Yesterday, I ate at Kita for the first time together with my boyfriend. On the advice of friends, we were celebrating our one-year anniversary. The arrival was very polite. Our coats were taken and we were escorted to our table. The evening started off nicely. We had ordered our drinks. It took a while before we could order our food. We wanted to go for the 5-course menu, but I don't eat meat and my boyfriend does. I had asked if I could get the 5-course menu as a fish or vegetarian option. It was checked with the kitchen, and no option was available. Even though there are plenty of fish, shellfish, and crustaceans on the menu. We found this very disappointing. Not everyone eats meat, and many restaurants take that into account. It is very unfortunate that it wasn't possible here. And they didn't even look for another solution. We don't know if we will come back here. Despite everything, we were able to enjoy our evening together.

And 3.7 stars. Review: Restaurant Kita, Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht Restaurant Kita is located on the Noord river, the connection between Rotterdam and Dordrecht. With the Waterbus right outside, it's easily accessible (until 8:00 PM). As a sister restaurant to La Barrage in Alblasserdam, our expectations were high; it's always a pleasant place to be. Kita is housed in a beautiful modern building and shares the ground floor with Il Mercato. The entrance is tasteful, with a lovely wine room behind it. The restaurant is beautifully decorated from floor to ceiling: beautiful materials, a lighted floor, and a stylish interior. Upon entering, we had to wait a while for the staff to greet us. It was incredibly busy on this Thursday evening around 7:00 PM. The music was loud, and the many glasses around significantly amplified the bass notes. We had booked a set menu and opted for a sparkling rosé as an aperitif. The first glass was practically dead (1). The glasses were thankfully replaced with a fresh bottle of bubbly. Unfortunately, a recurring phenomenon in the hospitality industry: wanting to pour out that last drop. For the main course, we chose 'medium rare'. We were served a nice appetizer, followed by a cheese and potato terrine with brisket. What do you mean, medium rare? (2). "A mistake," was the answer. The wine (8-9 euros) was poured into inexpensive glasses (reasonable, that is, with a rim), which significantly enhanced the experience. The beautiful, slender glasses were for the "expensive" wine. The fries were good, and the brisket tasted fine, but not like beef. The terrine was served cold/lukewarm. It's not a gratin, but it's helpful to mention this difference beforehand. Incidentally, the fries were charged separately. Dessert consisted of ice cream with cake (I'd call it 'Käsetorte cubes'), vanilla ice cream, and a fresh garnish. Not a highlight. My partner asked for a cheese board instead of sweets. That wasn't really possible, but they checked. Why is this always a "problem"? In the end, of course, it was possible, without extra charge. Nevertheless, ice cream was served first (3). The cheese was disappointing: of the five, only two were tasty. The rest were far below par. Was everything bad then? No, that's a different level. The staff is friendly and courteous. However, the music was far too loud at first (100 dB). Kita only has a 3.9 star rating on Google, which already startled me. Considering all the previous praise, that's a poor score. The bill for three courses, two sparkling wines, two glasses of red wine, a beer, and a Ximénez came to €121.50. Unfortunately, there was also a bottle of water on the bill that we hadn't had (4). In summary: That 3.9 on Google is still a positive result in my opinion. When four mistakes are made at one table, it paints a questionable picture. I rate it a 3.7. Not worth repeating. The place looks trendy, but the experience is a bit bleak.

We actually wanted to go for the Valentine's Day Special, but ultimately opted for dishes from the regular menu – and we absolutely didn't regret it. The food was delicious and perfectly seasoned. The cocktails and mimosas were a real 10/10 🍸✨ The live music was a bit loud, but otherwise it was perfectly manageable and created a cozy atmosphere. Hats off to the beautiful interior – stylish, warm, and very atmospheric.

We ordered sushi, Edamame beans, and a tomahawk steak. WARNING! You order for two, which is indicated in small letters above. After ordering, instead of €55, you order a kilo for two people. They only explained this method when we got the bill! It was really disappointing, as they're already quite expensive, so they could have made it clearer. It's a shame this didn't go well. These promotions didn't feel very trustworthy, and after reading all the other reviews, it doesn't anymore. The steak was also very small and not very tasty. For €110, I wouldn't recommend it!

The dinner started well, but the main course was very disappointing and, in our opinion, subpar. Furthermore, everything was inconsistent. For example, it was initially indicated that certain dishes were not halal, while the manager later indicated that everything was halal. We found this contradictory information confusing and unprofessional. There was also confusion regarding the house rules. We were forced to hang up our coats because this was supposed to be a rule, while at the same time we saw other guests simply leaving theirs on their chairs. This felt unfair and uncomfortable to us. Due to this combination of points, our experience was unfortunately negative, and we therefore recommend against returning. During our meal, the waiter kept walking by, refilling our glasses as if they needed to be finished. Upon entering, we asked for a table, but were seated at the bar with the promise that one would become available "in a few minutes," even though the restaurant was half empty at the time. I had a business dinner here for 11 people. The ambiance was fantastic, the decor beautiful, and the atmosphere was very chic and trendy. The service was incredibly slow; we had to constantly ask for everything, and we struggled to order drinks. They even skipped me, even though my glass was already empty. Of course, only one other colleague could take orders, but he was nowhere to be seen. It was a real struggle to keep ourselves and our international guests happy and to place orders; this shouldn't be allowed. The staff were completely unsmiling, which is a real shame.

The menu clearly stated that the meat would be 250–450 grams of grilled meat, but what I received was considerably less than promised. There were four of us, we asked for a round table but weren't given one because you're only allowed to sit there for groups of five or more. Couples (of two) eventually got those tables. You think, oh well, as long as the food is good. It took 30 minutes to get a drinks menu and 45 minutes for a dinner menu. We finally got our order after barely fifteen minutes. The meat courses were cold, really cold. We sent them back, got new ones... also cold. Then you think, Jesus, I'm going to eat this because I'm starving. When, while clearing the table, they ask if you enjoyed it and you give your honest opinion, they look at you with a smile and say, "Tell me something new!" and walk away. We ordered desserts. Please don't bother. It's absolutely ridiculous. We ended up leaving them. You probably have to keep drinking after your dessert, otherwise you'll be escorted to the cash register as soon as possible with the receipt you didn't even ask for. It's a fun and trendy place to be. If you're just coming for a drink (except for the cocktails, which are all truly awful) or bringing a client you don't particularly like, it's perfectly fine. Just to be clear, this isn't a place to eat. Absolutely not.

We came specifically for the tomahawk on Tuesday. It was perfectly prepared to our desired medium rare. The only thing I found disappointing was that it was the toughest tomahawk I'd ever eaten, but it certainly wasn't bad. And for the price, no complaints. We also loved the one-bite salmon taco. And the skewers were delicious. We thought the service was great. They explained the menu well and had a nice chat. They often stopped by to ask for service. The atmosphere was nice, not too dark, and my table could hear each other well. Would I come back? Definitely, I'll try the other tacos next time!

We were lured by an offer from American Express with free meal for two. We could detect the low ability to deliver and the mediocre quality from we entered the somewhat overdecorated interior with a clear view of the container harbour on the other side of the canal/river. Never the less, we had set off this time for a family occasion, so we decided to take up the offer. The offer was a joke. Especially as I (not my wife and daughter who accompanied me) have shellfish allergy, something that made it impossible for me to order anything on the offered menu. The focus was on supplemental charges, not what was on offer. They did have some steaks on the alacarte menu, so I did not have to leave hungry. Or total order was: Pata Negra, bread with butter. 16 sushi pieces. 3 oysters. 2 steak tartar. Truffle risotto. 1 Ribeye steak with fries and bimi (broccoli) Salmon on pure. Dame Blanch, caramel popcorn and cheese cake with stroopwaffwel. For a total of around 350 euros. The sushi was very good. The tartar was just tasteless, missing salt. The steak was clearly not salted before cooking and blend; however adding salt after serving made it eatable. We nearly gave up and went for desserts at McDonald's, however we ended up trying three different ones that were tasting very good. The main problem remains: You felt that there was a taxi-meter running. It was not an environment where the focus was on customer satisfaction, but a focus on charging as much as possible. The quality was a far cry from what you would expect, and all together there is no way I can recommend this place to anyone; not even my worst competitors.

We had a bad experience. We called to have dinner with three people, but once we arrived at the restaurant, the staff was completely clueless. The woman in the green suit sighed, and we were quickly shown to a table. Once we ordered our food, it didn't take long for it to arrive. In our opinion, you're getting luxury tapas for far too high a price. The staff was unfriendly, the food was way too expensive for what you get, and it was pitch dark inside. Definitely not recommended!

We were looking forward to a pleasant evening out, but unfortunately, our visit to Restaurant Kita was quite disappointing. The evening started with cocktails, one of which, a margarita, was absolutely undrinkable. After we politely pointed this out, another employee with a bun and glasses came to our table and explained that "this is how it's supposed to be" and that there's a difference between not liking something and not liking it. This reaction led to an awkward discussion at the table, which felt completely unprofessional. He even indicated that the cocktail shouldn't actually be taken off the bill because "it's already been made." This is incomprehensible to us. That's no way to treat guests. This immediately set the tone for the rest of the evening. A replacement cocktail then arrived, and it seemed like it had been deliberately made incorrectly. To avoid further discussion, we didn't mention it and left the drink. The food was also very disappointing. In our opinion, the sushi could have come straight from a budget table that had been sitting for hours at a lunch buffet. It wasn't fresh or refined at all, which is the least you'd expect at a restaurant like this. We also asked for less salty soy sauce. This seemed like a simple question, but we only got an answer after we asked again, more than fifteen minutes later. All in all, not a pleasant experience. We didn't feel welcome, and the service and quality were subpar. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

What a disastrous experience at Restaurant Kita. From the very first moment, everything went wrong and it just kept going downhill. The cocktails were outrageously bad, with a margarita that was simply undrinkable. When we pointed this out, we received no apology, just a know-it-all staff member who lectured us as if we had no idea what a good cocktail was. His comment that the drink "can't be off the bill because it's already been made" was absolutely ridiculous. Hospitality is apparently an unknown concept here. The replacement cocktail (amaretto sour, see photo) was no better; frankly, it seemed like it had been deliberately made incorrectly. We had no energy for another discussion and simply left our full glass. The food was, if possible, even worse. The sushi tasted like it had come straight from a supermarket buffet container that had been languishing for hours. No freshness, no refinement, no quality. To dare to serve this is simply scandalous. And then there's the service... asking for less salty soy sauce resulted in minutes of silence, until we had to ask again ourselves. They were indifferent, slow, and clearly not interested in their guests. In short: an evening full of frustration, poor service, and terrible food. Restaurant Kita is everything a restaurant shouldn't be. A waste of time and money! You'll never see us back!

Last weekend, we spontaneously went to Kita again, a place we frequent often, including on special evenings with live music. For the second time, we were fobbed off with a high table by the bar, only after insisting. Instead, we had to eat the shared dishes AT the bar. The short waitress immediately told her colleague that she "saw more people arriving" – it was clearly about money. The other woman also indicated there was plenty of room at that moment, so the excuse about reservations was invalid. It's blatantly obvious that this restaurant is only interested in "money guests" and a supposedly exclusive clientele. It was also painfully obvious that the hostesses treat you with less respect if you are of color – the difference in attitude isn't subtle, but confrontational and disrespectful.

My recent visit to this restaurant was disappointing. We had to wait a very long time for our dishes. The beef tataki had a strange colour and taste (see photo), which is why I had to send it back. To my surprise, the dish was still on the bill. We also ordered chicken gyoza, but got a vegetarian version. Since the taste was okay, I ate it anyway. When I pointed this out, nothing was done about it. The service was poor; the staff seemed unable to come up with solutions. Even after voicing my complaints, nothing was done about it. All in all, a bad experience.

Went to eat at Kita yesterday. The food was delicious and it looked very nice inside. However, it took 45 minutes before we got the menu and 1.5 hours before we got the first share dishes. One employee did his best for us but we were not seen otherwise.

We had made a reservation by phone at Kita yesterday around 5:30. Once we arrived, we were immediately received in an unfriendly manner. The man behind the counter - who apparently normally works in the kitchen, given his clothing - looked at us in a particularly nasty and disdainful manner, especially my husband. When we indicated that we had made a reservation, he said with a dirty look that my husband was not allowed in because he was wearing Nike tech fleece. Excuse me? We have eaten here so often and he has worn that more often, nothing has ever been said about it. We pay well over €250 for every visit, and now we are treated so disrespectfully and discriminatorily? The atmosphere was already cold and empty, but this beat everything. We will never come back here, and will also advise everyone in our area not to ever go to Kita again. As far as we are concerned, a place that only values ​​customers if they fit into a certain picture. Scandalous treatment. Unbelievable that this is still happening in 2025.

Kingsnight with DJ La Fuente! Dinner and party evening at Kita with DJ La Fuente! We had a delicious meal, but due to the crowds the dishes were different than we are used to! Unfortunately, some dishes were served cold... the DJ played a little on the loud side during dinner so you couldn't hear each other... otherwise we had a nice meal and a fun party evening! Even though it was a bit too busy for us, so you were crammed on top of each other!

After a night out for dinner we decided to have a drink here. We were received well and friendly. Once we were seated, it took 15 minutes before we could place an order. Not very long at all. We ordered a total of 4 drinks for which we waited 50 minutes. Even after asking a few times where our drinks were, we kept getting the answer that they were coming. In my opinion, the drinks were quite expensive when looking at the quality. We didn't try any food as we only went there for some drinks I really liked the DJ! And he was having a great time himself. Nice addition.

Nice restaurant, nice atmosphere and good chairs. Food is good...we had the 4 course menu. It is the quantity you expect at fine dining, so they are small dishes. The price for all this is on the high side. A small appetizer with the menu would have been welcome. Nevertheless, we had an excellent meal.

We had a reservation for 9:00 PM on Valentine's Day, but unfortunately this was quite late, so we could only be seated at our table after 45 minutes. Once at the table it took a while for someone to come to us, and we were only given the drinks menu. We had to ask for the menu for the food ourselves. We ordered, among other things, a bottle of wine, and what we are normally used to is that the staff regularly checks whether your glass needs to be refilled. That was not the case here, so at one point we had to pour our own glasses. Fortunately, the starter came quite quickly, within 10 minutes, but the main course, on the other hand, took a very long time. We had to wait at least half an hour, and around a quarter to 11 we were still waiting for our food, even though we had been sitting at the table since a quarter to 10. The service really left a lot to be desired. The staff seemed to pay little attention to the guests. They did offer us extra champagne as an apology for the long wait, but that only came after 45 minutes. All in all I was not completely satisfied with the service. Hopefully this will be paid more attention to in the future.

What was supposed to be a really great evening was unfortunately disappointing. It started well, coats were neatly accepted and we were allowed to wait for our table. Was busy, of course Valentine's Day... But in the end we were seated and it took 45 minutes before we were offered a card, so we asked for one ourselves. Finally ordered something, the oysters already took an hour, then we had to wait almost 2 hours for the rest of our food. In the meantime, everything was brought to our table, but it wasn't our food... It turned out that 2 chefs were sick and they had to make do with 3, completely understandable, but let your customers know. I mean a table at half past nine and your food only at half past ten is not very nice.. We finally ordered a dessert for which we had to wait 30 minutes and our receipt was also lost. All in all, the food we ate was great, tasted good, so praise for the chefs, but the rest was just a shame. The only apology we received was because the receipt was lost and we had to wait again to pay. Unfortunately, not a very positive evening for us on our wedding day. It's a shame that this is our first experience... because Kita is so well regarded.

In one word fantastic! I was a bit skeptical given some of the reviews, but in my opinion these are completely unjustified. The reception, friendly, hospitable, you immediately feel welcome. The hostess thought carefully about the table since we preferred a round table, we started at the bar and then we could take a seat at a round table. The food is great, you pay a bit more, but that is logical given the dishes, the ambiance, etc. Afterwards, the same hostess (small lady, blond hair) neatly put our coats on and asked very kindly if everything was to our liking. I recommend Kita to everyone!! Aicha

I ordered food and it was supposed to be there at 12:15, but then it arrived half an hour late. I ordered two Farmer chicken burgers and one Turkish pizza with cheese. First of all, the chicken burger wasn't at all like the picture. I expected a chicken burger with a potato underneath, like in the picture. For €8.50, you can expect something, but don't expect much because I got a soft bun with a few shreds of lettuce, a chicken burger that was half cold, and meager sauce on it. You're better off going to McDonald's than ordering here; you'll still get your money's worth. The Turkish pizza was also half cold; there wasn't even any cheese on it, just lettuce and a soggy wrap. For €6.95, I thought this was a real disgrace. I should have eaten at McDonald's because then you feel like you're getting your money's worth compared to this messed-up place.
