Restaurant Loca in Klarendal

Yesterday, we were introduced to restaurant Loca in the heart of Klarendal. It's a remarkable combination. A high-end restaurant in the middle of a working-class neighborhood. We sat down on the terrace, or rather, the sidewalk. And that was the only thing we could find to complain about. You have a wonderful view of the fat bikes, trash trucks, and other questionable people passing by. Anyway, we came for the food. And now for the good news: it was truly top-notch. Perhaps even close to a Michelin star. We opted for the five-course surprise menu, and it was an exceptionally pleasant surprise: daring combinations, deep and full flavors, and beautifully presented. The waitresses are charming, attentive, and helpful, ensuring a carefree evening. All in all, we've given it five stars. It's not cheap and perhaps not for everyone's budget, but you can enjoy a delicious meal there for a full evening. Even the beer menu has been carefully considered. Well done.

Had a great meal at Loca last week. The surprise menu is a treat. The portions were all together enough to fill you up. The wine selection is majestic. Finally, we had very nice service. Recommended!

We come here often; the food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the beautiful glassware stands out. What disappointed me last time was my vegetarian dish from the right side of the menu; DISHES (read; not the bites). After 5 oysters as a starter, in two ways, delicious, with caviar!, you expect a reasonably generous dish from this part of the menu. A main course. But for 18 euros I only got a few (mind you small) cauliflower florets. ??? Even surprisingly little if it had been a starter... My table companions had meat and fish and a normal portion; they also burst out laughing when they saw my plate. I also mentioned this and the employee said that it was just a small dish. I would have liked to know that in advance, then I would have ordered something else. For 18 euros you expect enough cauliflower on your plate, come on... A whole cauliflower costs 3 euros. At home I made a sandwich that evening. That shouldn't be the case if you pay almost 250 euros.

After the ballet performance (in the Leeuw theatre around the corner) we wanted to have a drink. Unfortunately they didn't have any Rivella or white beer. In the end I just went for a coke zero. I also ordered some snacks. Because there were 3 of us and the snacks were per 5 we asked if 1 extra was possible for an additional charge. That was no problem. Everything else was fine, but I don't think it's really a place for me because there is caviar on the menu and they mainly serve wine and no Rivella. What I do find a downside is that the terrace is on a crooked pavement so the table is not straight. Legend: 1) Terrible! I advise against it, I will never come back! 2) Too bad, below my expectations, I will not come again. 3) Ok, nothing wrong with it, but not special, nice for 1 time. 4) Fine, worth coming back. 5) Excellent! I recommend it, I will definitely come back!

Fantastische avond gehad, met dank aan de eigenaar Rob en zijn team. Er wordt verfijnd gekookt met hoogwaardige, verse producten en waar mogelijk wat lokale producten. Het tempo tussen de gerechten is goed, misschien voor ons doen wat aan de snelle kant, maar op het moment dat we dit aangaven, werd het tempo precies goed verlaagd. Delicatessen supplementen en een waanzinnige wijnkaart, waarbij er niet wordt bespaard op het glaswerk. Ook het servies is handgemaakt. Avondje uit op z'n best.

4/5 because it is really crazy expensive. It's a Michelin-like experience with small portions and big prices. However, you really get something in return. A skillfully put together menu with quality and freshness. Tasty products. The restaurant is on the small side and has an open kitchen, so it can seem somewhat noisy. The wine list is very extensive and very good knowledge is available.

Ordered a 5 course menu yesterday... had a wonderful evening. Every course was delicious! Thoughtful and pleasant staff... There is probably room for improvement somewhere... but I don't know where... we had a perfect evening!

Fantastische, creatieve gerechtjes van meer dan prima kwaliteit. De bediening gebeurt door mensen die verstand van zaken hebben; zowel kooktechnisch als kennis van wijnen. Omdat we wat later op de avond (20:00 uur) binnenkwamen kregen we in eerste instantie het tafeltje bij de deur. Dit was wat jammer; juist omdat we ruim van tevoren hadden gereserveerd voor deze aankomsttijd. Na de amuses en eerste gang werd dit hersteld. We hebben een meer dan prima avond gehad.

Fine dining in een casual setting. Heerlijke gerechtjes, goede bediening, lekkere wijnen, hiervoor hoef je niet helemaal naar Parijs. Het zit gewoon hier in Arnhem!

This is a small restaurant in an urban district in a quiet suburb of Arnhem. In summer the are a few tables outside on the street. Our server was excellent as was his knowledge of the dishes. You could see he liked his job. Food was very good as was the presentation. Kitchen was open planned and the owner was the chef. I will definitely return when I am next in the area.

We had a delicious meal! A four-course menu with a taste surprise every time. You can sit relaxed and spacious in the restaurant and yet it has a living room atmosphere. I really felt like a guest because of the professional and pleasant service! Recommended.

Leuke ambiance, verrassende gerechten, bijzonder en erg lekker! Porties zijn aan de kleine kant. Wil je met een gevulde maag vertrekken dan heb je wel wat (extra) porties nodig. En dat merk je in je portemonnee. De wijn is schandalig duur trouwens.

Nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Beautiful dishes and fine wines. The dishes are small and that means you really have a nice long evening. The well-recommended wines are served in beautiful glasses, which really enhances the taste. The staff is nice and gives a nice concise explanation. Food is great. Service excellent. Acoustics insufficient. (can be greatly improved with relatively minor interventions). Definitely recommended.

Top restaurant, food is of high quality. Reservations are actually a must, but I didn't do that. I was assigned a spot at the bar. Great service. They think along with you and, above all, the atmosphere in the restaurant and the team is top notch. Enjoyed it immensely. Worth repeating.

Restaurant with beautiful dishes in a location where you would not expect it. Personal favorite. Delicious surprise menus of 4 to 7 dishes, but also a fixed selection of bites to kick off with, such as chorizo ​​croquette and the like. Wines excellent, accompanying wine advice also excellent. The only downside is that wine pairing is not possible.

Delicious 7-course meal on Christmas Day. Quality this evening was in no way inferior to that on regular days, which you see at many restaurants. Actually, everything was good: the dishes, the combination with the wines, the smooth and knowledgeable service, the pace (we were there from 6:30 PM to 10:45 PM for 7 courses including coffee) and the accessible (living room) atmosphere. We have never had a bad meal at Loca and I don't think it will be long before this place can put a star on its facade. Recommended with a capital A.

We have eaten here many times but the food is always a - positive - surprise. The 4 course set menu is great value. Impressive wine list which tempts you break the bank. Great staff, knowledgeable and with the right attitude.

Mijn tafelgenoten waren enthousiast maar ik vond voor de 2e keer op rij de keuze uit de hoofdgerechten niet bij mij passen. Zal ongetwijfeld aan mij liggen, maar ik ga hier niet weer heen. Wijnkeuze in het onderste segment was ook beperkt. Maar ja, voor € 100(0)+ kon ik natuurlijk wel prima terecht....

Een super gezellig klein restaurantje in/vlakbij Klarendaal. Ontzettend lekker 6 gangenmenu gegeten incl. kaas. De wijn die erbij geschonken werd was erg lekker en paste er goed bij. Altijd goede ervaringen tot nu toe gehad bij deze plek.

Vandaag geluncht met 6 personen en wat een feestje. Zeer mooie creatieve gerechten met prachtige smaakbalansen. Wij hebben het 5-gangen menu genomen en het waren stuk voor stuk feestjes. Er staat een jong en enthousiast te koken en te serveren en het niveau gaat -mijn inziens- richting een Michelinster.

Super lekker gegeten. En zo relax en ontspannen, echt een aanrader. Hier proef je de liefde en passie en voel je het plezier. Erg fijne avond gehad ❤️

Super lekker gegeten, kundig en gastvrije bediening.

Gisteren hebben colin en ik bij Loca gegeten. We vonden het super!! We kozen het vier gangen verassing menu maar namen er zelf nog een kaasplankje ronde bij. Elk gerecht was verrassend en afwisselend. De smaken waren op een lekkere manier sterk en pasten goed bij elkaar. De witte huiswijn was toegankelijk, dus dat is een fijne om per fles te bestellen. Bij sommige gangen wilde we een bijpassende wijn. Het personeel gaf daar goed advies over en schonk de wijn in leuke glazen. Ze waren in alles best professioneel, maar de sfeer bleef wel informeel en ongedwongen. Dat vond ik fijn. Ik zou wel even reserveren. Wij hadden geluk dat er nog een plekje voor ons was. En nog wel naast het raam met verwarming voor onze regenbroeken!!!!
