Everything tasted great, even the vegetarian dishes were excellent. We only had to pay €15 for two bottles of water, even though we'd barely drunk any. A bit odd.

Omdat we wat te vieren hadden hier twee plekjes aan de Chef's Table geboekt en ons laten verrassen in 9 'belevenissen'. Bij binnenkomst sta je even te kijken hoe ze die ruime hebben ingericht, fraaie combinatie van oud en modern, veelbelovend! Eenmaal aan tafel wordt dat meer dan waargemaakt. Bijzondere combinaties, heerlijke smaken, prachtig opgemaakt door een enthousiast team dat je leuk ziet werken olv de Chef. Onder een goed verhaal schenkt de sommelier met aardig wat kennis van zaken op een heel prettige manier de bijpassende glazen wijn. Deze top-service draagt helemaal bij aan het gevoel van echt avondje uit. Wel grappig was dat als drankje vooraf aan de bar het enige biertje van de kaart werd geschonken als stevige bodem in een wijnglas. Bleek ook wel om heel bijzonder biertje te gaan, maar toch ...

We had a wonderful evening at the church. We had a delicious meal and, thanks to the chef's experience, were able to peek into the kitchen. You sit at the bar and watch the chefs prepare the dishes. The staff is very friendly, welcoming, and open to chatting about the food, the preparation, and the restaurant. For food and cooking enthusiasts, this is a fantastic bonus. A true experience!

After living in Amsterdam for 10 years, it took some time to find good and enjoyable restaurants in Arnhem. My husband, a food snob, is especially picky. Last week, we celebrated our first wedding anniversary and decided to make a reservation at The Church to celebrate. We couldn't have made a better choice. A beautiful location, efficient, knowledgeable, and young staff both in the kitchen and around it, and incredibly delicious food. We opted for the chef's nine-course menu and are still enjoying it for days. Delicious, surprising combinations. Lots of fish, Japanese influences, and adapting to my shellfish intolerance was no problem at all. It didn't make the adapted dishes any less enjoyable and delicious. I'm enchanted by The Church and can't wait to dine there again soon.

In a word, perfect. Everything about this restaurant is perfect. The welcome, the explanation of the wines and ciders, the correcting of your food when you get up, the serving and presentation of the plates, the dishes, and the flavors. If you want a wonderful evening out with attention to detail and genuine care for you as a guest, go to this restaurant. The young owners and their team know how to do it. A big 10 for all of them!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 9-course lunch. The restaurant's location is fantastic, and the table arrangement creates a unique atmosphere. The four of us (my husband, our neighbors, and I) recently enjoyed an evening at The Church in Arnhem, where we booked the Summer Special package. The location is beautiful, and the food was truly fantastic – creative, refined, and surprising in every course. Kudos to the kitchen! However, we encountered a few issues that unfortunately overshadowed the experience. Upon arrival, the exact contents of the package weren't clearly explained – even though the reservation had been made on July 9th and the dinner was scheduled for July 17th. It would have been nice if they had explained what to expect upon arrival. Two of our dinner companions didn't want the full wine pairing (one because of driving, the other simply didn't want it) and asked to indicate this early in the evening. They agreed, but without explaining that the package had already been paid for and there would be no refund. Clarity beforehand would have prevented a lot of confusion. Even small requests, like extra bread, received little consideration: my husband asked if more bread could be brought, but was told that the next dish would include brioche. A shame, because that's a completely different matter. A simple reply: "Would you like the bread after all?" would have resolved this neatly. For dessert, I requested a cheese board instead of a sweet dessert – which came with an additional charge. Understandable, but that too hadn't been clearly communicated beforehand. The most disappointing moment came at the end of the evening, when we settled the bill. Suddenly, it turned out that four wine pairings were on the bill, even though two people hadn't taken advantage of them. Instead of a solution or an apology, an argument ensued. They referred to a "free drink" I'd supposedly received, but that felt more like an attempt to justify it than genuine service. We left feeling uneasy. Finally, I do want to compliment the second sommelier who served us – she presented the wine and explained the details with enthusiasm, flair, and knowledge. You truly hung on her every word. A world of difference from the first sommelier, who came across as very technical and unpersonal. In short: a beautiful venue, excellent dishes, but unfortunately, disappointing service and unclear communication that significantly affected our overall impression of the evening. It's a shame, because this could have been a real to-go spot.

Finally, the time had come, dinner at The Church, a 9-course dinner at the Chef's table. We like/are allowed to eat everything and like to be surprised when we go out for dinner. That certainly happened: it was great!!! So beautiful to see the collaboration between chef Bart and his team. A single word, a gesture, nothing more is needed, they understand each other, sense flawlessly what is needed. Non-stop, at a high pace, without a break, an eye for every detail, 100% focus, but in a relaxed atmosphere. The result: beautiful dishes that look fantastic and taste fantastic with special flavour combinations, one even more delicious than the other. With delicious matching wines and, for me, also a number of surprising non-alcoholic options. Not the standard juices, but a full-fledged alternative if you don't want to drink alcohol or less. The service is just as perfect, attentive, with personal attention, hospitable. In short, we had a great evening and certainly hope to come back more often. The Church is a great restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed. The service is professional and pays attention to every detail. Everything went smoothly and we felt truly pampered. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Each dish was well put together and the flavors were perfectly balanced. What made it extra special was that we got an extra dessert because we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary. The Church knows how to give guests a special evening. We will definitely be back.

Very good! Pricy, but worth it! Fine dining and service is outstanding. We had a 6-course menu and matching wines. Just one point for improvement: We asked for half glasses, because drinking full glasses was too much for us. Some glasses we were just able to get 1/2 zips because it was so little.. considering the amount of money we spent, I would expect a little but more in my glass! Still, a very good experience and amazing atmosphere.

Wat een geweldige locatie om heerlijk te dineren! In deze kerk worden echt topgerechten geserveerd met bijpassende uitstekende wijnen. Als je in Arnhem op hoog culinair niveau wil eten in een mooie en bijzondere ambiance, moet je hier zijn. En ook de geweldige service ontbreekt niet. Wij waren hier voor onze trouwdag en hebben genoten van(af) de champagne tot en met het laatste dessert.

A unique and elegant atmosphere in a restored historical church with an elevated food and service experience. The Noordzeekrab starter (lime caviar, Dutch wasabi & green apple) offered a clean, vibrant start, while the Lam main (lemon, cumin, peas, tarragon & garlic) was rich yet fresh. The Bietenrassen salad added earthiness that tied things together nicely. The Ribeye (shallot, hazelnut, sherry) hit the right balance of juicy and. Every plate showcased thoughtful cooking and quality ingredients. Service was polished and relaxed. Altogether, an impressive dining experience that’s refined without feeling overly formal. I’m glad the Church has been saved and many elements of its history in tact.

You don't know what hits you when you enter this old Lutheran church. A beautifully designed bar, old pews, the old pulpit, hotel rooms that "hang" high in the church. Fantastic murals and lots of nice seats. You really look your eyes out for a moment. Fortunately, there is very friendly staff who put you back on the ground. We started with an aperitif at the bar. Delicious mocktails! Three surprise menus of 6, 9 or 12 courses. By the way, we were called a day in advance about possible allergies. We chose the 9 courses. Let the photos speak for themselves. What attention, perfection and detail. Especially nice how enthusiastically everything is presented and explained at the table. Also by the chefs themselves! There is a formidable wine list with I think something for everyone. Fantastic what has been achieved here in this beautiful old church. We are very happy with this super introduction to The Church!

What a special place. Spending the night in a cozy hotel room that feels like it's hanging in a church and a chef's table of 12 courses of the highest level. In short, we were pampered in a special and high-quality way. You pay for that, that must be said honestly, but for us it was definitely worth it. Disappointing. The food is surprising at times, but that's about it. Overly pretentious stuff. Pushy service, keeps trying to sell more wine despite repeated "no". And then it was also much, much too hot.

Well, where do I start 😍😍😍😍. What a wonderful experience and what a delicious meal we had. Expectations were high but were exceeded. Everything just superb. What struck us most was the relaxed atmosphere of the crew. The time the service took was nice and the extensive information from the nice female sommelier completed the picture. We will be back soon.

We really had a fantastic evening here in good company of friends. Everything was perfect, the atmosphere, the dishes, the staff. What a treat. The only downside was the bill :) but it was worth every cent and we will definitely be back. Highly recommended and an asset to Arnhem.

We gingen voor het 2e Kerst diner. Aanvang 20.00 uur. De organisatie op 2e kerstdag liep fantastisch. Bijna perfecte 9 gangen samenstelling. Twee desserts (8+9) is wat overdreven. Als extra's ook nog een soufflé was te veel van het zoete. Wij waren ook op Champagne brunch geweest eerder en herkende 2 Gerechten ook op Kerstmenu. De wijn begeleiding was uitstekend. Presentatie van gerechten uitmuntend. We zaten als 1 van de 6 koppels aan 'Chef's- table' maar Chef koos voor 2 zelfde koppels voor contact. Niet storend, eerder opvallend. Locatie is uitmuntend. Toilet heren erg sober, matig en klein. 1 Urinoir. Toilet dames goed maar weinig plaats waardoor wachten mogelijk werd. Invalide toilet heeft absoluut nieuwe bril nodig. Geen verdere uitleg. Korte samenvatting: Heerlijk gegeten en 4 uur vermaak. Top organisatie met wat uiterst goed bedoelde opmerkingen als stimulans richting een welverdiende Ster. Complimenten.

A very special and wonderful experience! And what a beautiful location in the center of Arnhem, run by young, enthusiastic entrepreneurs with a love for the profession. Starting with a nice and hospitable welcome. We sat at the bar and did not regret for a single moment that we were not seated at a normal table. Because it was great to see how much love, passion and precision go into the dishes. And no shouting at each other, as you might see on TV, but just peace and quiet and everything ran like a well-oiled machine. The chefs were also up for a chat and answered curious questions from me and my girlfriend. Bart (Chef and owner) also doesn't mind having a chat and answering your questions. The sommelier was a very knowledgeable lady who responded perfectly to our wishes regarding wine. I am a novice wine drinker myself and I was served very nice wines that also matched the dishes perfectly. You would expect the acoustics in a church to be difficult, but because there are limited places it is not busy and you are not bothered by other people or too much noise or stimuli. We went for the 9 courses. Every dish was delicious in taste. I myself had never had an oyster and was happy with my first introduction. My girlfriend was also not a fan of fish, but she was also pleasantly surprised with the flavors. All in all a great evening as 'fine dining' should be!

Unfortunately, I found The Church to be a disappointment. There were certainly tasty dishes, but we had a relatively large amount of bread in between. I missed some creativity with vegetables in addition to the meat and fish dishes. The staff was friendly but seemed nervous. They were helpful and it is a very special place to sit. Overall a nice evening but not in proportion to the price. Personally I wouldn't come back.

How wonderful to discover such a gem in your own city! As soon as you enter you have the feeling of entering another world. Very tastefully and separately decorated with a sense of detail. This same sense of detail certainly applies to the food. We opted for the 9-course menu with the addition of cheeses. It was a tantalizing experience from start to finish. What topped it off was that our son, who has to eat gluten-free, was able to follow the same menu as us with only minor adjustments. For the first time he didn't feel like an outsider in a restaurant. All credit to the chefs who made this possible. I found it striking that sweetness often had the upper hand. The staff was very service-oriented but came across as somewhat rehearsed and distant. A small point for improvement.

Eten in een totaal verbouwde kerk, die enorm sfeervol is ingericht met ook oude elementen van de Lutherse kerk. Bediening is erg vriendelijk. We namen een 9 gangen diner. Porties zijn erg klein, maar zeer smaakvol. Zeer veel vis, maar de moeite waard. Alles wordt mooi geserveerd op apart servies. De bediening van de bar is erg kort, geeft informatie die nodig is, meer niet. Sommige waren moeilijk te verstaan. Daar is nog wat aan te doen! Parkeren in Velperplein garage, zeer dichtbij. Aanrader dus, gevulde portemonnee meenemen !

Geweldig gegeten in de Church, ook letterlijk in een verbouwde kerk. Met z'n zessen gingen we voor het 9-gangen menu (6 of 12 kan ook). En of dat nog niet genoeg is, kwamen er ook nog twee amuses langs. De gerechtjes waren klein, anders lukt het natuurlijk nooit om er 9 te eten, maar zeer smakelijk en divers. Als toetjesmonster was ik bijzonder gecharmeerd van de beide desserts, nog aangevuld met een extra taartje voor de jarige. De wijnen waren ook erg goed en de bediening snel en prettig. Al met al een fantastische ervaring. We besloten met een nacht in het hotel en de volgende ochtend een heerlijk ontbijt, en nu eens niet in buffet vorm.

We initially opted for 9 courses, but after 3 courses we switched up to 12. We wanted the full experience because boy, was it so good. Deeply impressed by the very young chef Bart. A great talent and very clever how they run such a well-oiled, hospitable machine with a young team. So folks, go eat here. And if you come from further away, the rooms are also great. What a wonderful place, in terms of food, wine and service. The location itself is beautiful, but what surprised me was the peace and quiet in the church itself (no reverberation box in terms of acoustics). This means you can have a nice chat while dining. I think it's a huge plus that you can immediately see the kitchen (again: the peace that the team radiated, fantastic). The service is knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with. We opted for the 6 courses and we walked away very satisfied. The variety between flavors, the variety in fish, meat and vegetarian and structures made us very happy to come back again. Buying indulgences has never tasted so good! I was fortunate enough to sit at the Chef's Table where I got to watch the careful preparations and ask questions about my 9 course tasting menu. Bart Leussink's team creates very careful compositions with beautiful ingredients, sometimes using delightful contrasts in texture. Highlights for me were the yellowtail in a umami-bomb broth, the smoked thinly sliced rib eye, lamb with crunchy chimichurri, and lobster with gel topping. I was happy to have the sommelier lead me through a variety of excellent wines. A divine experience in a heavenly space, highly recommended.

The restaurant is located in an old church in the immediate vicinity of Arnhem city centre. The location is spectacular. A very special ambience. The pleasant atmosphere was supported by the really attentive and friendly staff. All questions were answered competently. Each course was outstanding in terms of quality and creativity, so we were completely satisfied with the look and flavour. The oyster deserves a special mention. The breaks between courses were absolutely appropriate. This is an important point for us to judge the evening. It was a fantastic evening for my companion and me.

4 course chef's menu LUNCH... what a wonderful afternoon, everything was very beautiful; food, service and church itself and the food was delicious, really delicious. Then back on the bike in the sun and enjoy. Top choice for lunch. I thought the prisecco apple symphony was a festive discovery and I recommend the Church to everyone (really pricey so you must like stars)

We did the Chef's table with 9 courses and simply wow! An amazing variety of food and techniques and they are super accommodating towards dietary restrictions (in my case, vegetarian). The service was also outstanding, from the lady who welcomes you, through each of the chefs who explain each course thoroughly, to the sommelier. A truly unforgettable experience, if you want to do something special, this is the place to go. Do keep in mind, for Chef's table you need to book quite a lot in advance if it's on popular days.

Alles was tot in de puntjes verzorgd. Wij zaten aan de chef’s table. Het was ontzettend leuk om mee te krijgen hoe onze gerechten met zorg werden samengesteld en opgemaakt. De smaken van alle gerechten waren voortreffelijk en goed op elkaar afgestemd, de wijnkeuzes uniek en lekker. Wij gaan zeker nog eens terug.

Beautiful place and delicious food. However, the portions are very small, it is clear that they prefer you to order the 6 or 12 course menu. When explaining the dishes it comes across as very rehearsed, the feeling is missing. Even if you have ordered a bottle of wine, you have to make sure that the glasses are always filled, because the bottle was put away on another table at the side. We eventually put the bottle back on the table ourselves.

Special place in a well-hidden location. Nice and quiet, no children or animals. Seats are a bit uncomfortable. Friendly staff.

What a beautiful Restaurant and Boutique Hotel that is located in a beautifully converted church. The service is very friendly and extremely professional. The food is of absolute top class and certainly worthy of a ⭐️!

You will find this absolute gem in a beautiful spot, a bit hidden. We received a tip from a friend and we had quite high expectations. These have really been surpassed. The hostess knows her trade, the chef cooks at a high level, the dishes are beautifully prepared, worthy of a star, and the flavors are enchanting. The wines are really good! We have had culinary meals quite often, but these people have only been open for a year. Truly a promise and an asset to the province! Highly Recommended!

General impression of hotel room: Met all expectations. Small and cozy. General impression of restaurant/service: Spacious and beautifully designed restaurant. Open kitchen, very nice to see. It gives a soothing and chic feeling. The Service is really fantastic. The customer is king, you will be completely pampered. Dinner was fantastic. Each dish is beautiful and delicious to eat. The perfectly matching wine was recommended by a great sommelier. The dishes came a little quickly after each other. After asking for a slight delay, this was handled well. Truly in one word: fantastic!! Thank you for this fantastic experience.

Flavor bombs in an exceptional setting with enthusiastic and friendly service.

For me as a vegetarian, this was not a successful evening, with only 2 vegetarian à la carte dishes (while the service recommended 3 to 4 dishes in terms of portion size). So I was a bit lost when my meat/fish eating dinner companions ate 3 courses. That was not picked up by the service either. And then I wasn't even very happy with one of the vegetarian dishes. Why would you serve a vegetarian a tomato tartare that looks like meat? And anyway, tomatoes in March? I thought it was much too sour, not the refined sourness of Peter Gast, where chef Bart worked. Too bad, I expected much more.

In one word: wow! We had booked a package for a 12-course menu and an overnight stay. Upon arrival, you are immediately overwhelmed by the impressive building in which many old details have been preserved and enriched with new elements. This was extended everywhere, including in the rooms, a cool combination between old (recycled) church materials and new modern materials. In the evening we sat down at the chef's table in the kitchen. Here you are literally right on top of the preparation of the dishes and so you really get to experience everything. It's extra nice that the people in the kitchen, and the chef in particular, take the time to explain your dishes or just have a chat. Also a shout out to the sommelier who talked about the wines with fire and passion! The food was phenomenal and well balanced. Surprising and refined dishes. We are fans! In short, an experience that we will not soon forget! Thank you!

What a fantastic experience at The Church. Everything is right: atmosphere, exceptionally hospitable and knowledgeable hosts; heavenly dinner; slept wonderfully and had breakfast. Address to remember, we will definitely come back!!!

Had a delicious meal at The Church. A nice and atmospheric setting in a former Lutheran church. We had the 9 course menu, where each course was particularly tasty accompanied by delicious wines. The service is friendly, with the chefs serving the dishes. You can also sleep there. We had a charming room on the ground floor. To be repeated!

Enjoyed a Sunday Champagne brunch. Each course has a picture on the plate (the tableware itself is also very beautiful) and delicious flavors too. Service pleasant, friendly and attentive. It's nice that the chefs themselves also regularly serve the courses. And of course a beautiful location! We will definitely come back someday.

A special place with a very special atmosphere. We chose the 9 course menu and enjoyed every bite. The service staff was very attentive. After four hours we were very happy and full! It was more than a dinner, it was an experience!

We had dinner here last weekend. It was fantastic. The food, the service and the ambiance, everything fits together seamlessly. You can see and taste that every detail is thought through and that every detail is worked with love. Keep it up and see you soon!

We dined at the Church in mid-October 2023. We loved the atmosphere but we found the service to be way too slow, 4.5 hours for a 12 course meal it’s really too long. We found the food decent, but not great, most dishes were nice but lacking depth, and were not delicious, which is not what I expect from fine dining. The restaurant is beautiful. Overall I would not recommend this place as the price tag is not worth the quality of food and service.

Had a delicious Valentine's Day menu. Eating there is an experience! Worthy of a Michelin star. We enjoyed it immensely!

The Church is highly recommended. From the moment you step inside, you will be enchanted by the unique atmosphere of this former church. The decor was beautiful and created a special ambiance. The staff were exceptionally attentive and friendly. The plates were served by the chefs themselves and you received a clear explanation of the dish served. The presentation of the dishes was also beautiful. We went for the 12-course chef's menu, and every dish was a unique experience. Much admiration for the young owners! They have managed to create a beautiful and mature product in a short time! We will definitely come back again!
