Restaurant Nerello in Kralingen-Crooswijk

I ate here for the 3rd time, and finally decided to write a review. I returned twice for the tagliatelle parmesan and truffle, and the delicious tender beef tenderloin. But honestly, I think yesterday was the last time and I won't be coming back. The service really leaves a lot to be desired. Everything takes a long time and there was miscommunication a few times because they didn't understand (English-speaking staff). Upon arrival, we were asked if we wanted a bottle of water right away, so that arrived immediately, which was very pleasant. However, nothing happened for a very long time after that. We just sat there, didn't get a menu, and our aperitif order wasn't taken either; we were actually quite in the mood for a drink. Eventually, we had to signal someone ourselves, and that wasn't easy because the staff weren't looking towards our table, so we had to ask for the menu and if we could order a drink ourselves. Well, that's pretty much the end of it for me, especially when that remains the case all evening—having to signal waitstaff myself to finally be able to order something, and then having to signal again for another drink. When bringing new drinks, empty bottles and glasses were not taken away. It feels so unpleasant when you are eating surrounded by empty bottles and glasses. Furthermore, I sat upstairs all three times and the acoustics are unpleasant; you really have to talk quite loudly to hear each other. And it was hot. I think sitting downstairs is much more pleasant in terms of warmth and acoustics. Nevertheless, the tagliatelle with Parmesan and truffle and the beef tenderloin were incredibly delicious again!!! The carpaccio starter was very salty, whereas it was truly perfect last time. So it seemed like the chef slipped up, what a shame! All in all, my overall experience this time was really disappointing. A pity. When you pay so much money for good food, the total package has to be right; you also pay for good and prompt service, and that really left a lot to be desired. I had that experience the 1st and 2nd time as well: long waits and inadequate service. Unfortunately, this is my honest review.

Visited with a group of friends, booked in the early afternoon for that same evening. A welcome worthy of a top-tier Italian restaurant, yet without sacrificing our ability to be both warm and professional at the same time. Impeccable table service and a menu that lets you take a break from exploring local food customs and return to excellent Italian dining, with plenty of dishes designed for sharing our authentic cuisine even abroad. The bill was fair for the quality of the products.

We had a delicious meal with four of us. It was a shame, though, that one main course was cold. Cozy atmosphere and good value for money. The staff makes you feel like they appreciate their customers.

What a fantastic experience at Nerello! I regularly visit Italian restaurants all over the world, but I have truly never eaten such delicious Tagliatelle al Parmigiano. The dish is prepared at the table in a spectacular manner and is absolutely top-notch: perfect in flavor, creamy, and truly unforgettable. The staff also deserves all the compliments. Everyone is exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Empty glasses are noticed immediately, and you truly want for nothing. Nerello is an absolute top-notch establishment and without a doubt one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever eaten at. Highly recommended — I will definitely be back!

A great welcome from the manager; the owner, of Sicilian descent, was on vacation, which is to be expected during this period. The staff, generally Italian, speaks good English, is motivated, and very friendly. There was even a little serenade for my wife's birthday with dessert. Very nice! The dishes, despite being quite pricey—which has become normal in the Netherlands—are of good quality, though still a bit safe for the general public. The same goes for the wine list, which is mainly supplied by two large importers. It is a pity; there, too, they play it safe regarding the average taste of the Dutch consumer. But this cuisine specifically calls for the cream of the crop from Italy, and certainly from Sicily. Putting together an exciting wine list in the average Dutch hospitality establishment apparently remains difficult, even though there are countless good (small) importers bringing truly authentic wines to the Netherlands. Finally, if you want to dine at an original Italian, or in this case Sicilian, restaurant, you surely want to taste the atmosphere and flavor of pure Italy. Why then do I have to listen along to background music all evening that comes from anything but Italy? The points above are constructive "criticism"; we had a wonderful evening and will certainly return from Wageningen again.

Nice restaurant with tables outside, pleasant service, and tasty wine, but the food was a bit disappointing for the price. The Parmesan cheese sauce with the main course turned out to be, in our opinion, the same Gorgonzola sauce as in the starter; we ordered the filleto di manzo medium, though it was very well done! In short, a nice experience, but not worth repeating.

This restaurant had been on my wish list for a while, thanks to recommendations from acquaintances. Tonight was the night, and we went to eat here. Upon arrival, we could choose from several spots on the terrace. The service, and Alessando in particular, was very hospitable and friendly and helped us excellently. The food was truly fantastic; authentic Italian, good portions, and delicious flavor! To finish, coffee and a delicious dessert made the evening complete. I can absolutely recommend this restaurant!! We will definitely be back again.

Good food. Didn't see the waiter much; he was a nice man though, very friendly. We had made a reservation, but it was very busy. We were "tucked away" upstairs. There were 2 people sitting at a nice table for 6 downstairs, which was noticeable. We had a nice and tasty meal, but if you want a cozy atmosphere, reserve a specific table.

What a wonderful experience this was. We enjoyed a fantastic evening where absolutely everything was perfect. The presentation of the dishes is beautiful and the flavors were outstanding. The dessert, in particular, with the chocolate sauce and the pieces of pear on the plate, not only looked artistic but tasted delicious as well. We will certainly be back here soon for a next time. We thoroughly enjoyed a lovely dinner with children and their partners on a sun-drenched evening. Delicious dishes, from the tuna steak to swordfish carpaccio and the beef tenderloin to grilled prawns. However, the reservation conditions for a group of 8 people or more do not seem very welcoming.

Fantastic experience at Nerello! My girlfriend and I were there last night for our 5th anniversary and it was phenomenal. The owner is a man after my own heart. Enormous passion, hospitality, and knowledge, especially regarding the wines (which we had a nice chat about). The waiter/sommelier was very sharp, skilled, and knew how to pair the perfect glass of wine with every dish. The food itself felt like being in Italy for a moment. Quality and taste are clearly a top priority. Overall, a super experience and they can certainly expect us back soon!

Last night we went to Nerello for the second time in a long time. We are true fans of meals and restaurants like Nerello, which deserve to be appreciated and cherished, and for this reason we consciously choose to come here as a treat to enjoy the delicious food they prepare. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal we were served: grilled portobello, grilled mortadella as an appetizer, and ossobuco as a main course. Saltimbocca and beef fillet for dessert, we had Sicilian cannoli and tiramisu... The dishes were delicious, but the dessert was divine! Personally, I was sad that my dessert was finished. We also received a complimentary limoncello with our coffee from the owner. I want to take this opportunity to thank the entire Nerello team once again for this unforgettable evening. Specialty truffle pasta is amazing

The food was fantastic, we especially loved the ravioli and gnocchi, and the wine pairing was excellent. The restaurant is cozy, though a bit cramped for the number of tables, which made conversations slightly difficult. Service started off inconsistent, but thankfully improved with a very friendly and attentive waiter later in the evening.

A truly good Italian restaurant. You can tell immediately by the preparation method that this is made by Italian chefs. Super delicious, and we instantly felt like we were back in Italy. We will definitely be coming back here more often.

The food is delicious. But…… €7.75 for a bottle of San Pellegrino, €19.50 for a cheese platter, €8.75 for a glass of Valpolicella, and €29.50! for a plate of pasta with cheese/truffle. I am willing to pay quite a bit for eating out, but these prices do not justify the quality. Moreover, it took 60-75 minutes before we received our main course. To then pay €330 for 5 people is truly bizarre to me for what we ate and drank.

We had a disappointing experience at this Italian restaurant. Delicious bread with olive tapenade was served as soon as we sat down, then we were asked if we wanted ham, but it was too fatty and the ham was cut too thickly. Tuna tartare with avocado, coarsely chopped tuna, and bland flavor. The main course, filetto di manzo, consisted of three slices of steak stuck together. The lamb crown was still raw when it arrived, even cold on the bone. It wasn't grilled as stated on the menu, but fried, and the gremolata wasn't on it or included. And when you then hear the comment that the chefs always do this, it's clear to me that they lack knowledge and skill. Such a comment is, by the way, inappropriate! A one-time visit to Nerello for us.

Great food, good wine, nice people

The food was delicious. The portion size was normal. I had the swordfish carpaccio (highly recommended if you like fishy flavors), the gnocchi with red mullet (DELICIOUS), and the tiramisu (nice and soft, not too whipped). My girlfriend had the flambéed pasta with truffle and the beef tenderloin, which was also absolutely delicious! The service was good, and the host was especially great! It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it!

What a DELICIOUS meal we had here! We were inspired by the positive reviews, and they proved entirely justified. The food is truly sublime. We chose the tagliatelle with truffle and the burrata as a starter, followed by tiramisu and cheesecake for dessert—each a true explosion of flavors. The wines were also very good. Upon arrival, you receive a basket of bread with truffle tapenade, which is a wonderful start. The service is friendly and attentive, the atmosphere cozy and lively. We're not from Rotterdam ourselves, but the next time we're in the area, we'll definitely be back to eat here!
