What a fantastic experience at Restaurant Niemeijer! From the moment we walked in, we felt more than welcome. Had the pleasure of eating at Niemeijer last Thursday. What a fantastic experience! Enjoyed it non-stop from arrival to finish. The service was professional, the food sublime and it was nice to see the open kitchen. We will definitely come back!

We had a delicious meal with our teenagers who are on a culinary voyage of discovery. This certainly includes a restaurant with a lot of love for food. So recommended.

Beautiful restaurant in a special location. Dishes are beautiful paintings prepared with care and refinement, but what ultimately matters, the taste, far exceeds expectations. All dishes taste surprisingly good. Nice balance in acids and bitters, crisps and ointments. All elements in taste and structure were balanced in every dish. Moreover, finally an extensive menu + aperitifs menu with classic delicacies such as caviar, oyster, sweetbreads, chicken liver and duck liver in Groningen. Wines were very good and were well advised and informed by the hosts and hostesses. Each one delicious! Imperial caviar with eel, crème fraîche on a crispy, wafer-thin toast was fantastic! Sweetbreads were perfect in size and preparation! Not just 2 snacks that are too crispy, but a nice portion of soft sweetbreads, sometimes a little crispy, with a layer of lacquer and delicious garnishes. I tasted salmon with Jerusalem artichoke and grapefruit from my partner. Phenomenal combination! Oyster was great! Dry aged sirloin perfect cuisson and garnishes were delicious and looked great. Could have had a little more gravy. Cheeses at the right temperature and were delicious. Crisp and apple mustard weren't really my thing. But that's a matter of taste. Madeleine was warm and baveuse. Top! We will come back again. A really surprisingly nice restaurant in the city!

Beautiful building. Had a delicious lunch. But all in all it took too long. 2 courses and then sitting for over 3 hours. The table was also not cleared. Plates, glasses etc etc actually stayed on the table the entire lunch. That is not possible with this status of the restaurant.

Had dinner at Niemeijer for the first time last weekend. This restaurant had recently received good reviews and this aroused our curiosity. Upon entering you enter a beautiful room where you have a direct view of the kitchen. The restaurant looks nice and sleek and is spacious. After our coats had been accepted and we could take a seat at our table, we were given the appetizer menu. This went smoothly. From that moment on, the service was less attentive and sharp. We waited a very long time for drinks and our first course. The glasses were regularly empty, without anything new being offered, which is a shame. There is certainly room for improvement here and that this could run more smoothly. As the evening progressed we noticed that we could not hear each other well at the table due to the acoustics, people were sometimes a bit noisy. The food was great and very tasty, it also looked good. We certainly understand the good assessment. We will certainly come back again in the future.

The restaurant looks nice but not really special, with an open kitchen. The service is friendly, polite and smooth. But then the food: all courses tasted absolutely perfect. The starters, the duck, the sweetbreads. It was the tastiest sweetbreads I have eaten (and I eat them often). The flavor combinations are sometimes strange but always fit together so beautifully. The highlight (better: 1 of the highlights) is duck liver with ice cream for desert. How did you come up with the idea, but it's genius. The only "downside" was that the sauces are super tasty but quite thin and therefore remain too much on the plate. So clean the plate thoroughly with my finger (if there had been no other guests, I would have licked all the plates). The prices are high, but still very modest considering the quality. All in all, this case, as a major exception, gets the full 5 stars.

What a feast for your senses, nice informal staff, beautiful flavors with not too many structures, crisps, gels, they can certainly hope not to get a Michelin star, because then this restaurant will have a more difficult, spoiled audience. Nice wine list and special: Baked foi gras with coffee for dessert! And a good price-quality ratio, we sometimes see that differently

Delicious food. Surprising dishes such as steak tartare with langoustines and sweetbreads or artichoke. The allergy, which I communicated when booking, is taken into account very attentively. Beautiful decor. I would love to come back again.

We enjoyed the dishes and the delicious bottle of wine. The restaurant is located in a very beautiful and new building where everyone has a view of the open kitchen. Beautiful, delicious and refined dishes in a good atmosphere. With nice variations on regional delicacies such as the egg ball and Jan in the bag. We will definitely come again.

Paying for creativity and atmosphere. The building looks neat; modern appearance in the city center of Groningen. Easily accessible by bicycle. Upon entering we are kindly received and can choose a table. The service is quick with a drink and explanation of the menu. The menu offers a starter, intermediate course, main course and dessert. The choice is not wide (4 options per course) and the dishes must be to your taste. We choose the egg ball. Here they testify to courage; a Groningen product that is exciting. However, the egg ball has nothing to do with Groningen. Apart from the shape and the fact that it contains a (soft-boiled?) egg. The ragout is a vague mixture of ingredients and has nothing to do with the original egg ball. In fact, it detracts from the taste. As a main course we choose the entrecôte. Medium fried (a bit overcooked and therefore slightly tough). Delicious served in melted butter. A striking detail is that the meat is served separately. Our plate was a painting. Nicely prepared with few vegetables and pasta. For dessert we opted for the Groninger poffert (although a taste cannon, but no relation at all to the Groninger poffert) and the crepe Suzette. In summary: Beautiful location, excellent service and delicious dishes that pamper the taste buds. The courage to take up Groningen dishes has failed. The portions are small, so a big eater will still be hungry for a real Groningen egg ball afterwards...

Beautiful fine-dining restaurant in the heart of Groningen. The atmosphere is modern. The kitchen is in the middle of the business: you can do (almost) everything nicely. The food was fantastic and our host Teun topped it all off with some very successful wine suggestions.

Had dinner at Niemeijer for the second time last night and once again enjoyed it immensely. The plates are beautifully presented, delicious (in our case vegetarian) dishes from the season, attentive and attentive service and a very relaxed atmosphere. We ate at the bar with a view of the open kitchen, highly recommended if you like to get a peek into the kitchen! We will definitely come back.

Nice people and delicious food!

This was my first visit at this restaurant. Located at a nice location in Groningen. I had a perfect view on the open kitchen. The kitchen staff works very professionially, well organised, prepared and without stress. The menu is á la carte with a nice selection of wine, not much choice per glas, which I understand. I would expect a fine dining restaurant to offer a wine arrangement but I guess that is a bit more difficult for á la carte restaurants. The waiter did not know much about the wines, but she did ask someone for advice. It would be nice if there was a sommelier for serving the wine. At this price-point I think that would be better. All the courses were well presented and most were delicious. The asparagus soup was surprising with some Fryslander cheese, a combination that inspires me. The main course was plaice, with white asparagus, morrel and saffron. It was prepared well, just one taste came trough very dominently, making the taste a bit strong and one sided, overpowering the taste of the fish and asparagus. In my opinion it could have been more subtle. I use good saffron in my own kitchen quite often. Certainly this is a restaurant I will return to. A new favorite.

What an asset to Groningen! Delicious food and drinks.

Delicious 4 course menu. This egg ball was delicious! We always taste something from each other (sweetbreads, fish, duck, crepe) and everything was tasty and with 4 courses you really have eaten enough. We don't take pictures of our food anymore, but hmmm, really good!

We hebben nu 2 keer geluncht bij Niemeijer en twee keer was het super. Echt fantastisch eten (heel lekkere combinaties), prachtig ingericht en het is leuk dat je zo de open keuken in kunt kijken waar de jonge keuken brigade hard werkt. De eigenaren zijn erg attent en je voelt je heel welkom. Er werd heel goed rekening gehouden met intolerantie voor eten. Wat heel leuk is, is dat je bij je aperitief een klein hapje/amuse kunt bestellen. Dan kom je direct in de stemming. De toiletten zijn ook echt heel mooi (ook belangrijk :-)). Kortom! Super! Het is niet goedkoop maar dan krijg je zeker wat! Als ik dan toch 1 dingetje mag opmerken…de stoeltjes zitten niet heel lekker. Je zit erg rechtop en je voelt een harde rand in je rug. Maar de banken daarentegen zitten fijn.

In een rustige hoek van Groningen vind je op loopafstand van de Grote Markt en de Vismarkt een gastronomische topervaring! De stad Groningen kent meerdere restaurants die culinaire ervaring bieden, maar zo ongedwongen en 'laid-back' als hier is de ervaring zelden. Het interieur is adembenemend en brengt je gelijk tot rust, daarnaast zorgt het glaswerk op tafel voor een verfijnde uitstraling. Over alles is nagedacht, en dat kun je zien. De bediening is erg plezierig in de omgang en hebben stuk voor stuk een professionele uitstraling. Het restaurant biedt geen bijpassend wijnarrangement, maar dat is geen gemis met zo'n kundige maître die je kan adviseren in wijn-spijs kwesties. Het eten was van hoog niveau. Als aperitief is het gevulde eitje erg aan te raden! Het gevulde eitje is een oer Hollands recept met een verrassend tintje, een aangename smaakervaring. Dat beloofde veel goeds voor de rest van de gangen! En als je als voorgerecht de eierbal (typisch Gronings) besteld, dan zul je ook zeker niet teleurgesteld worden. Samen met twee vrienden heb ik hier gegeten en we hebben allemaal iets anders van de kaart besteld. De keuze is genoeg, maar niet reuze. En dat is juist wat het zo goed maakt. 4 keuzes per gang, en allemaal steengoed bereid. Geen ellenlange boekwerken doorbladeren, maar een minimalistische menukaart met een aanbod dat nauwgezet is samengesteld. Een van mijn tafelgenoten had een glutenallergie. Daar werd uitstekend mee omgegaan en heel erg goed over nagedacht. (Bijna) ieder gerecht werd aangepast of was glutenvrij te bereiden, tot en met het 'koekje' bij de koffie of thee. Nog nooit had ik Zwezerik gegeten, maar allemachtig wat is dat een goeie ervaring, en zeker als het bereid wordt door de koks van dit restaurant. Een echte aanrader! De hoofdgerechten zijn allen stuk voor stuk een smaakervaring die je ertoe aanzetten terug te komen bij Niemeijer! Het a la carte concept is dat je het zo duur kunt maken als je zelf wilt. Je zit niet vast aan een bepaald aantal gangen met een prijs. Wil je geen 5 gangen? Dan neem je alleen een voor- en hoofdgerecht met koffie na, één glas wijn erbij en je hebt en heerlijke maaltijd met smaaksensaties. Wil je wel 'all-the-way'? Dat kan ook, 6 gangen lang, met iedere gang een andere wijn. Kortom, bij Niemeijer kun je terecht voor een gastronomische topervaring in een ongedwongen sfeer. Het eten staat hier voorop, niet de poeha! Kom binnen, ga zitten en geniet!

Food was great and service was good. In my personal opinion the lights were somewhat bright and due to a busy table it was loud inside. But I really enjoyed my time there.

From start to finish, 1A cuisine, very attentive, friendly service. Price/performance ratio is consistent.

They do everything right here. A nice surprising menu in a very hospitable environment with a beautiful open kitchen. Right in the center and the dishes are delicious. We'll be back soon!

Delicious food, nice chairs and good staff. You can watch in the kitchen, which adds a nice dynamic to the evening. The chefs work precisely and the kitchen is beautiful to admire. Each course has 4 options, when we were there 2 meat, 1 vegetarian and 1 fish. So keep in mind if you eat vegetarian that you don't have an option. For us, the main course of fennel and dessert of chocolate stood out. Had a wonderful evening.

Met tien personen heerlijk diner. Iedereen had wat anders gekozen van de kaart en alles was een verrassing. Bediening aardig en erg kundig. Aanrader!

Inmiddels heb ik twee keer mogen genieten bij Niemeijer. Kort na de opening in 2023 maakte ik voor het eerst kennis met de geweldige kookkunsten van Janick en zijn team. Onlangs gingen we met ons gezelschap opnieuw naar de Akerkstraat voor een lunch bij Niemeijer. Het menu is onderscheidend en er wordt gewerkt met prachtige combinaties van ingrediënten (ook uit eigen tuin) waarvan je geniet en over napraat. Er hangt een goede sfeer en de persoonlijke benadering is prettig. Het pand, de aankleding, het servies, etc. zijn met elkaar in harmonie. Ik kom gauw weer terug !

Heerlijk gegeten bij dit recent geopende restaurant in Groningen. Het behoort bij een van beste restaurants van de stad Groningen wat ons betreft. Verfijnde keuken en alles was heerlijk. Brood, eierbal, steak tartaar enz. Tot in de kleinste details. Heerlijk sfeertje en ontzettend leuk deskundig personeel. Aanrader!

Geweldige avond gehad en heerlijk gegeten! Genoten van de mooie gerechten, met originele en bijzondere smaakcombinaties (o.a. producten uit eigen tuin). Zeer vriendelijke bediening. Prachtig interieur, mooie open keuken, er hangt een relaxte sfeer. Topavond gehad, we komen zeker nog eens terug!

Fine dining restaurant in 't centrum van Groningen. Bij het aperitief worden smaakvolle bites geserveerd. Bij ons bezoek kiezen we steak tartaar, zwezerik en ribeye, alles overtrof onze verwachtingen. Compliment aan het team voor een warm welkom in dit modern ingerichte restaurant met open keuken. We komen zeker terug om meer van de kaart te proeven.

Wat een fantastische ervaring ! Uniek restaurant. Inventief menu met ingredienten uit eigen tuin . Buitengewoon vriendelijke bediening. Heerlijk gegeten. Een aanwinst voor stad Groningen !

Heb zo lekker gegeten en het restaurant heeft een soort huiskamer sfeer heel relax, bediening super tot in detail echt super! En de eierbal wauw Genieten met hoofdletter G!

Geweldige lunchervaring bij Niemeijer, lovenswaardig dat er weer een restaurant is welke lunchmogelijkheden heeft! Groningers hebben toch nog wat drempel(lunch)-vrees kennelijk. Begonnen met cava en verrukkelijke lauwwarme oesters in beurre blanc en in een schuim van champagne. Zo lekker deze oesters, dat we ze ook weer als dessert hebben besteld. Daarnaast nog een Eierbal met een zeer smaakvolle ragout die een perfect gekookt zacht eitje omsloot. Coquille, Varkenswang als tussengerecht en Schol als hoofd. Uitstekend gegaard. Een mooie overzichtelijke wijnkaart. Het restaurant is ruim opgezet met een fantastische grote open keuken. Je kunt de bereiding van begin tot eind volgen als je dit wil. Meer dan dik in orde hier in de Akerkstraat.

Heerlijk gegeten!! Echt een aanwinst. En wat een topper is de eierbal. Wie had gedacht dat die ook met een zachte dooier bereid zou kunnen worden. Nou daar moet je dus gewoon voor naar Niemeijer. En niet alleen daarvoor want alle andere gerechten waren ook top. En een heerlijk relaxte setting en supervriendelijke bediening. Hier komen we zeker terug!!

Top avond gehad in het hagel nieuwe restaurant Niemeijer. Eten is fantastisch en de bediening super vriendelijk! De eierbal is een absolute aanrader op het menu! Wij komen hier zeker weer terug!
