Cozy, lovely place. We were at the terrace since the weather was perfect for a diner outside. The meat was great, the staff kind, friendly and professional. We will come back in September to enjoy the live music (it is cancelled during) summer time). Would be great also to see some Argentinian beef in the menu 😉.

We had such a perfect dinner yesterday! Starting with excellent shrimp bitterballen and ending with a delicious pavlova, good wine suggestions and very attentive and friendly service. Lovely ambiance too and space. They didn’t have the lamb last night so good excuse to go back, and would love to try their freshly made pasta too.

The quality is really top-notch! Great service, but really cheap for the quality you get!! Absolutely recommended. Note: they really went all out, and even that is cheap!

The place is super nice and we visited it twice during our short stay in Amsterdam. Really good meat, delicious aperitifs and deserts 😊 Bar has a lot of options, we really loved it. The terrace is peaceful and the restaurant will suit both: slow dinner for 2 or a gathering in a big group! Will definitely recommend to come ❤️

I still haven’t tasted their food, but I’m sure it’s just as amazing and sweet as their staff. My phone had died, and even though they were already closed, they kindly let me in and gave me a charger. That level of kindness is rare to find anywhere else. Moments like this are part of what makes Amsterdam so beautiful. 💛

Friendly, open staff. Really nice terrace, off the beaten track, and not immediately noticable from the front (it's in the back), even though we live around the corner. Interior is really cool, food is fine.

We were here on Thursday evening with 4 people. Nice, atmospheric place, friendly service, and the live music was great. But the food and drinks were disappointing! For starters, we had prawns, which were the only thing that was delicious. The rest was a huge letdown. The steak tartare was bland, lacking flavor, the bavette was tough and small, and the lamb wasn't anything special either. The wine we wanted to order was not chilled. The wine they recommended was sold out after just one glass, so we had to choose another wine. Also, the wines are quite pricey. And for a meat restaurant, we found it very strange that there is no tournedos or tenderloin on the menu (it was in stock according to the staff).

A really nice, industrial-style setting. The food is good, with excellent quality meats. They offer live music in the evenings, but it's still easy to have a pleasant conversation. Varied wine list.

I was here last Saturday with a group of 8 people and we had a delicious meal, chatted, and laughed from 7 pm to midnight; truly a top-notch place! Upon arrival, it is unclear exactly what type of restaurant you are entering, which makes it a bit exciting, but as soon as you step inside, you are surprised by the beautiful decor and receive a friendly welcome. The food was top-notch and the service friendly and fast. Absolutely a hidden gem and highly recommended! The Bavette I had was pure heaven, but I also heard good things about the other dishes! Definitely worth a return visit!

We had Valentine's Day dinner here. The food, decor, and atmosphere were amazing, BUT we arrived hungry and left hungry. €140 for two people for a total of three mini portions (two appetizers and a main course), each served on one plate to share, plus a mini dessert, is a joke. The portions were microscopic. We were disappointed and even asked the waiter if that one plate was actually for two people... Unfortunately, it was. We celebrated our first anniversary here. We'll definitely remember that, because we were still hungry 🙆

I had a wonderful evening there with a group of people from a conference.

It felt like we were in an episode of Gordon Ramsey's "War in the Kitchen." What should have been a romantic Valentine's Day dinner turned into a disappointment. Although the food, the location, and the live music were excellent, we were left with a bad taste in our mouths. It started with the reservation: the website was almost unreadable due to a constant "reservation" pop-up. Eventually, we managed to view the menu, which included both a regular menu and a Valentine's Day menu for €70 per person. However, at the restaurant, it turned out that only the Valentine's Day menu was available; ordering directly was abruptly impossible; the only options were meat or vegetarian. The service was then chaotic and unclear. After a long wait, we received a plate with two oysters, placed for one person without any explanation. Then another long wait and another small plate of meat strips, again without any explanation or option to properly share it. The third course took over an hour. Meanwhile, the waitstaff came by several times with dishes meant for other tables (oysters, meat strips, and even desserts). When the main course finally arrived, it too was served to one person without explanation. The taste was okay, but the dish was bland and the portion was actually too small for two. Dessert went wrong again: the waitstaff tried to serve oysters again, and the dessert was also served without any explanation. We saw other tables experiencing the same problem, or even worse: a table behind us had only received two oysters after an hour and a half, while later guests were already enjoying their main courses. As an apology, we were offered a drink on the house, but it later turned out that it had been added to the bill. All in all: an amateurish experience. €50 for a bottle of wine, €70 per person for a four-course meal with portions barely enough for one person, and service that was seriously subpar.

The atmosphere was wonderful! We were there on a Saturday evening and walked in to live jazz music. We were greeted by friendly staff, even though we hadn't booked in advance. We started with the prawns, burrata, and carpaccio... they were delicious! For the main course, we each had a piece of meat with different sauces. Generally tasty! But not a culinary highlight. A nice glass of wine and a sgroppino for dessert. All in all, a very pleasant evening. P.S.: Also ask the staff about the history of the building and its current use. P.S.: The only downside is that the surroundings aren't particularly special.

Read the reviews about the service and was fearful but in the end they seemed to have addressed the issues.. We had a great evening the food was good and the music perfect. Good to see the Pompstation getting back to the way it was when it was packed every night, and had delicous steak and great wine.

Delicious food but really ridiculously bad service

We went for dinner here on a rainy and moody Wednesday evening. It seemed like a quiet night with only a few tables filled. The place eyes (and is pretty) huge, and has an industrial feel. It’s dark, warm and welcoming. Great food, enjoyed their take on a Philly cheesesteak and a great steak with a variety of sides. Overall great atmosphere. Service was good, but not special. As a local, I will definitely come back.

I had dinner here with a friend last night and we had such a great evening. The atmosphere was so nice especially with the live jazz musicians. The staff were genuinely warm, super attentive, and made us feel very welcome throughout the evening. The starters were amazing, especially the gambas and the hamachi (I recommend!). For the main, we shared the côte de boeuf with veal jus, which was cooked really well and absolutely delicious. Overall, we both had an amazing night. Can’t wait to come back!

Had such a great experience with my boyfriend here. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the food was delicious and beautifully presented, and everything felt thoughtfully done. The service was fantastic. I had a lovely conversation with the manager about wine, and they were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, which made the experience even better. They gave great recommendations that paired perfectly with our meal. Overall, a fantastic spot with great food, excellent wine, and wonderful hospitality. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice night out.

We came across Pompstation by chance and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our visit. The space is beautiful and relaxed, with a really warm atmosphere. We started with cocktails at the bar and stayed for dinner, which was excellent. The dishes from the grill were full of flavour and nicely presented, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. There was live jazz playing softly in the background which made the night feel special without being loud or overwhelming. You can enjoy a proper meal and still have a comfortable conversation. A lovely place for a relaxed dinner and drinks. We would happily return.

Chaotic restaurant. The staff's knowledge of food, wines, and cocktails is disappointing. There's a lack of a professional manager or someone who understands when orders aren't right and can resolve the issue so the evening can be enjoyed.

Two of us dined here last Friday to celebrate our anniversary and get a feeling for the venue as we are considering potential wedding locations in the city. Unfortunately, our experience made neither very enjoyable. We showed up for our reservation on time at 21:00 and patiently waited to be seated, as instructed upon entering. Greeted only by the smell of the toilets, we were only reluctantly approached by a member of staff after almost ten minutes. We were told we could hang our jackets in another room and follow the waiter to our table, but by the time we had put our jackets away he was gone. We approached him at the bar and were shown to a table for four that was still dirty. Another member of staff was asked to clean it but did not finish doing so before leaving. We waited another ten minutes before anyone came back to finally clear and wipe the table. The food menu was only provided upon further request, with only the drinks menus left at the table at first. The food itself was good and arrived quickly, although it was repeatedly first brought to the neighboring table, whose guests had already finished their meal long before. Ultimately, the staff’s inattentiveness and persistent lack of communication made this a very poor experience. This culminated in us being presented with another table’s bill, which we paid, resulting in a €50 overcharge, before realizing the mistake. The issue was resolved with the staff before we left. Overall, the location is cool and cozy and the kitchen was efficient, but the disorganization on the floor was striking. Given that the restaurant was only about half full and we were among the few tables still ordering food at that hour, there seemed to be no justification for such substandard service.

Dining with surprises, ......... and not all culinary ones Yesterday I dined with a group at Het Pompstation in Amsterdam. I had already studied the menu online, and my choice was clear: the Rubia Gallega Spain Côte de Boeuf (500g). The desire was there, the Google search was done, now to execute. Upon entering, however, we were first greeted by an aroma that was somewhere between toilet blocks and a sewer experience from the depths of the metropolis. Original? Absolutely. Tasty? Less so. After being glazed, it immediately became apparent that polishing glasses is not in the culinary dictionary. Beautiful large wine glasses with a greasy haze and the remnants of lip contact. At the table, the coveted Rubia Gallega had vanished. The waiter explained that the menu "had changed last week," but perhaps—and this word deserves an honorable mention—there might still be something left. An alternative was immediately offered: the Dubbeldoel Netherlands Côte de Boeuf. To convince us, a piece was brought out of the kitchen: 1.2 kilos. Impressive, absolutely beautiful meat, but clearly meant for sharing with a small family or if you happen to be with a rugby team. We ultimately opted for plan B: sirloin steaks. A little later, the waiter returned with news: there were only two left. So, we improvised. It turned out to be a combination of lady steaks, a bavette, two sirloin steaks, fries, and someone ordered artichokes. The artichokes appeared… well… the artichokes turned out to be grilled corn on the cob. To be fair: the food was fine, but this was certainly not fine dining and certainly not a "wow" experience. Dessert: coffee. One of us ordered an Italian coffee. A little later, the coffee arrived with the announcement that cocktails were on their way. We hadn't been informed, but that's fine, surprises are the theme of the evening, after all. The Italian coffee turned out to be a kind of shaken coffee cocktail with alcohol and something that vaguely resembled whipped cream. An interesting experiment, but not recognized as Italian coffee outside Italy's borders. All in all, the evening felt somewhat amateurish, with many small things that just didn't quite work. As civilized as we are, we ate and drank everything neatly. But honestly, this experience left us feeling we'd rather not become regulars. With a little more clarity, coordination, and attention, this could certainly be improved, but for us, this was a one-off adventure.

We had a delicious meal with good meat, and Miguel even gave us some limoncello. There was also some great live music.

Restaurant Pompstation deserves all five stars, thanks in large part to manager Jiri Simons. He has a wonderful atmosphere, is a great resource, and makes everyone feel at home. The service was fast, professional, and yet very warm. The food was delicious, and Simons' excellent guidance made it a fantastic evening. I will definitely be back!

Started with a great wine with awesome jazz / bossa nova live music, moved to a very good t-bone ( shared with friends ) and has a blast on the tiramisu! Service was also perfect! The vibe of the place is something difficult yo get in Amsterdam, lots of space, with good music in a relaxing setting... Really recommend!

Unfortunately we didn’t have a nice experience. We were having a bachelorette evening with a very small group. The two stars are for the live music and the ambience of the place which was beautiful. We were seated, the waiter asked if we wanted water, left and didn’t come back. The next waitress gave us a winecard and a card for other drinks didn’t exist apparently and left. We waited for a while and then asked for a menu card ourselves. ( btw it was a dinner reservation in the evening) We chose our dishes and drinks ( had no bartender so no cocktails) The food came, the drinks were still missing, a food order was missing as well. The waitress said she would bring the missing food item right away, which didn’t happen. Drinks weren’t served and we finished our food. I had to walk to the bar to tell them we would like to pay ( which a lot of guests had to do). The waitress already took the drinks of the receipt, but didn’t apologise, she said they are short staffed…. If you want a nice evening with good service I wouldn’t record coming here.

Something went wrong, which resulted in a very long wait. We had a large group. Portions were small; the steak, baby potatoes, and fries were served after the main course was finished. The tiramisu wasn't anything special.

Service extremely slow and really difficult to grab waitress’ attention. It took us almost an hour to get our first course. Mussels portion is also really small. The live band was the only positive experience of the evening.

A beautiful location. Bonus: live jazz at speakeasy volume on Friday evening. Fantastic! Vitello Tonnato was the starter. Truly sublime. Beautiful veal, interesting tuna mousse, with a strong reduced jus that—interestingly enough, because it's not really supposed to be—worked very well. Waiter 1 was very friendly and certainly knowledgeable about wines. Absolutely perfect. Main course: a sirloin steak with chimchurri, and my companion a lady steak. Also very good—perfectly cooked with delicious sauces. Waiter 2 was unfortunately not knowledgeable and couldn't offer any advice. The salad with Parmesan and citrus dressing contained very nice and fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, no Parmesan, and no citrus dressing. I mentioned it to waiter 2, who mumbled something like "too bad" and walked away. No alternative was offered. Dessert: we would have liked a sgroppino or something similar. "We don't have that," and waiter 2 left again, again without offering an alternative. Meanwhile, waiters 1, 3, 4, and 5 were behind the bar, and there was no one left serving. I asked for the bill, which unfortunately still had the salad on it. After a comment about it, waiter 3 immediately deleted it, even though he honestly had no idea why, because waiter 2 hadn't given me anything. So, it seems like a "standard" thing. In short: a fantastic location, with a top-notch kitchen crew, and service that still managed to end the evening on a sad note.

A brilliant find where the setting is the main attraction. The food is certainly strong, though it plays a supporting role to the captivating experience of the venue itself.

We had a private event here, all was well arranged. The food arrived to all of us at the same time and was served at the good temperature. The ambiance was pleasant and comfortable.

Very bad experience. Had to order several times our dishes and wine. Then we finally received only the frites after approaching the waiter it took ages again until something came. We were busy to correct and ask the waiter the entire evening to get us our ordered food. Very poor quality, non attentive and didn’t know what they do.

Unique building, delicious food. The vitello tonato and the roasted cauliflower are especially recommended.

We had a reservation at 19:00 (so quite early) and when we wanted to order the special of the day that was proposed to us when we ordered drinks earlier they told us that it was already sold out. Then around 20:30 we wanted to get cocktails they told us we couldn’t get some because it was „too busy“. Also the food arrived 2 hours after we ordered it. I’m sorry but we were there on a Friday and this is pure miscalculation. How can you not budget people wanting the food or cocktails on a Friday night? Why does it take so long to prepare normal dishes? They also forgot to bring us 2 glasses of wines that we ordered - so unfortunately pure incompetence. Sad, because the food is actually decent

Overall, a nice location and reasonably good food. Some dishes were tasty. The fish of the day, halibut, was a bit flat and lacking in flavor. Unfortunately, something went wrong with the bill. The server accidentally overcharged me €400, and I noticed it too late. That can happen, although it was a bit sloppy. They promised to fix it and refund the money. That took another 30 minutes, and the debit card was refunded. This can take four days, and then I was asked to pay the bill anyway, so all in all, that would have been a charge of over €1,000. Of course, I wasn't interested and had to insist that I wasn't planning on doing this. The next day, it was credited to my account, so I requested to pay for dinner. I called twice, and the gas station promised twice. The next day again, and finally, it was sorted. Mistakes can happen, but the fact that the restaurant refuses to take any responsibility for the error bothers me the most. It's all a bit sloppy. Even though I've been promised not to be called back, it really bothers me to just be able to pay. Strange behavior.

Afgelopen vrijdag bij het Pompstation gegeten. De accommodatie is uitstekend, voldoende gelegenheid om buiten te eten. Personeel behulpzaam en de kwaliteit van het eten is redelijk, maar zeker niet top. We moesten echter veel te lang wachten op ons hoofdgerecht en eerst nadat wij hierover na ruim een halfuur een opmerking over hebben gemaakt werd het eten geserveerd. De prijzen zijn redelijk de porties niet echt groot. Er was geen live muziek zodat we dit niet hebben kunnen ervaren.

My parents-in-law were married for 40 years yesterday, but I was abroad with their son, but we still wanted to surprise them at their dinner. That's how I got in touch with the staff and they really thought along with us to surprise them from thousands of km away and it worked out great! My parents-in-law had a delicious meal, so good that we have to come back with the whole family in 3 weeks because of my father-in-law. Service, ambiance, food, wine everything was great! i was sitting at a table very close to the stage where three lovely musicians were trying to share their music. i say “try” because i heard the staff being so disrespectful and rude to them that made it impossible for these professionals to do their job. food is overpriced, mediocre and the people are not welcoming at all, i don’t see any reason to recommend this place to anyone.

I was there for a company event. The decor, furnishings, and ambiance were top-notch. The food was good, and the service was very attentive.

Very nice place, there was a band that played while we were eating, it was very nice! The meat and truffle pasta were excellent! On the other hand, a slight downside is that the cocktails were really not good, and the waiting time is quite long :)

The meat was incredible, the live music was a very nice addition to the meal. Unfortunately the cocktails were basically sparkling water with some flavor and I would keep the traditional approach to the tiramisu. But overall a great experience!

We visited Pompstation in Amsterdam Oost and left with mixed, yet mostly positive impressions. The evening kicked off with a carpaccio that was nothing short of exceptional — tender, well-seasoned, and perfectly textured. A definite five-star dish that sets the bar high right from the start. We followed up with the côte de boeuf, which was generous in portion and easy to share. While it was tasty, it didn’t quite reach the same heights as the starter. Solid, but not extraordinary — we’d give it three stars at best. What truly elevates Pompstation, however, is everything around the plate. The ambiance is lively and inviting, with top-class live music that adds a special energy to the space. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. We were there with our baby and were happy to find that a high chair was available. For parents dining out with little ones, we highly recommend going right after opening time — there’s more space, less rush, and the food tends to arrive faster, which makes a big difference when dining with a baby. In short, Pompstation offers decent food with a few highlights, but it’s the atmosphere, service, and music that truly make this place worth visiting.

Disappointing experience We had high expectations, but unfortunately it was very disappointing. We had to wait far too long for our food, which ultimately was of mediocre quality. Given the high prices, we really expected more from this. The service was downright bad: slow and disinterested. We raised our hands several times to speak to someone, but were repeatedly ignored. When we finally asked where our food was, we just got an unintelligible mumble and the server walked away, without any explanation or politeness. The only positive was the live band, which created a nice atmosphere. But otherwise it was not a pleasant experience for us and certainly not a place we would recommend. Shame!

Service was quite slow, once got a wrong dish. Dishes themselves were decent to good, highlights were the duck breast and the scallops, but the prawn ravioli was not cooked and still cold. Nice interior and ambiance. In general quite good, but for these prices there is better in the area.

We had a dinner on Saturday here. The food arrived very late and it was cold. However, I have to say that the waiters/waitresses were very kind and understanding. Also, despite the live jazz music concept is really nice, they played live music only 20% of the time. Given the relatively high price range of the food and drinks; I would say it was overall a disappointing experience.

Really disappointing experience. The service was extremely slow—even though the restaurant was nearly empty, we waited over an hour and a half for our starters. The portions were ridiculously small, definitely not worth the price. Some friends ordered the 800g steak, asked for it rare, and what arrived was anything but. It was terribly cooked, almost boiled instead of grilled. It was so poorly done that they couldn't even finish it. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

The food is fine, but for me not in relation to the price. The price is quite high and therefore I expect either high quality or so much that you will go home rolling. This is not the case for me. The choice is limited and with a three-course menu for 50 euros I don't expect half a bavette but a whole one. The dessert was also good in taste, but so small that you were done after two or three bites. So for me it's not worth the money.

Had dinner here with friends last night. The food is of good quality, but it could be a bit more. Sometimes there are moments in restaurants when things go wrong and that can happen anywhere. It should be noted that it works well captured by skilled and friendly staff. Patta, Muze and Sophia thank you very much for that. This completely makes up for any mistakes that were made. Live music on a Friday night and enjoyed the surprise 4 course chef menu!!

A nice Valentine's day experience let down by excruciatingly slow service. We had a 4 course menu served over 3.5 hours. We had to wait over 45 minutes between the amuse bouche and the entree. By that point my bouche was no longer amused

A truly top private party with around 350 people. The food was well prepared and both the normal and vegetarian versions were surprisingly tasty. Very beautiful and atmospheric place. You can party and sit downstairs and upstairs. The bar is nicely decorated, the staff is friendly. A really great place!

After a previous bad experience, the restaurant allowed us to eat again yesterday. The service was friendly, the corridors flowed neatly into each other. Food was hot and delicious! We had a very nice evening. Thank you pump station for this experience! We have adjusted our previous review.
