The food is very tasty. For smaller appetites, you can order the tasting platter, which is approximately 60% of a normal portion. Accessible toilet available; however, ask for the key and be able to maneuver well (electric wheelchair). The door can be closed if someone is willing to do this for you (just ask). Terrace has a beautiful view of the horses. Reservations recommended.

Visiting the Veerhuis for the 2nd time, after a fantastic 1st experience. Unfortunately, last Saturday on our 9th wedding anniversary was a bit disappointing. It was busy, and the service showed. Drinks (bottles) were served without a tray and without clean glasses. No spoon was served with my pasta, and it tasted different and less tasty; I also found the table very cramped for 4 people, as you couldn't sit next to each other to eat properly. It's a shame, because the first time was fantastic.

Lovely, we are going again next week. It was just the two of us this time, next week we are going with a total of five people. The service was good, we got something to eat quickly, great. We went to Veerhuis again today with the neighbors, we had a delicious meal again, it was top-notch again, both the food and the service were amazing, thank you.

Unfriendly. I called regarding intolerances and asked if an ingredients list might be available, but there wasn't one, and within 1 minute I was told that I was “in the wrong place”. I have never experienced a restaurant being so uncooperative (in such a short time).

We got off the ferry and wanted to have a bite and a drink for a bit of socializing. We took a seat on the terrace, when a sign appeared reading "terrace closed," without a word being said, while there were still people sitting on the terrace drinking coffee. My husband went inside, assuming we could still order something, but he was told "terrace is closed" and that was that. My husband and I found this to be, at the very least, very rude, inhospitable, and unfriendly to customers.

Ideally located on the Lower Rhine near the Blauwe Kamer-Opheusden ferry. There is a great view of the river from the terrace. Had coffee with a waffle, whipped cream, and cherries. Highly recommended.

Disappointing isn't the right word.. 4 staff members who didn't bother to welcome us. We were able to get a drink in the café. But it was swarming with flies! 2 tables that still needed to be cleared became the flies' new home.. When I asked one staff member if we could get a drink outside, the response was "no, we do NOT serve outside!" This, even though there were tables and chairs standing right outside(!) I thought it was already remarkably quiet. I do understand why..

A very nice restaurant with unusual dishes, all prepared with great care and creativity. The staff are young and incredibly friendly. The place has amazing potential. But why is it so terribly dark in there? You have nothing to hide. This darkness dampens the atmosphere. And menus on the tables would be great. As it is, you end up ordering—at least the drinks—blindly, without knowing how much you'll have to pay. That's unacceptable. Nevertheless, the restaurant is fantastic!

A very beautiful location for dinner, small, nice menu. The fake schnitzel, vegetarian, was delicious. Excellent value for money. And the atmosphere: top-notch!

We used to come here regularly for the good food and friendly staff. Unfortunately, this image changed completely yesterday after the owner reacted in a very inappropriate and foul-mouthed manner. We were invited by our uncle (80 years old and very frail); he indicated that he did not appreciate being sent back and forth multiple times, whereupon the owner immediately went on the offensive. Very unnecessary, when an apology would have sufficed. She then indicated that they would not make any further effort for us for the rest of the evening. The atmosphere was completely ruined by this, and given that we were really looking forward to this dinner and it is a significant expense, we decided to leave. Again, no apology, no compensation. Very disappointing and sad. Fortunately, there are plenty of eateries in the neighborhood where you are welcomed with open arms.

Worst place ever! We were severely, and I mean severely, discriminated against here just because we happen to have some tattoos. Waited 2 hours for our food (which never came), were completely ignored by the staff, and finally mentioned when paying for the drinks that we had waited 2 hours and still hadn't received any food. We were casually told that it was because we had tattoos and that wasn't accepted??? We were also told that we are never welcome again... we are NEVER coming here again, and I don't recommend it either! What an insult for nothing.

The owner is truly very customer-unfriendly. My uncle had made a reservation for 5 people and was the first to arrive; he has great difficulty walking and was sent back and forth multiple times. When he mentioned this to the owner, she stood her ground and was very foul-mouthed. A very unprofessional attitude and a bad example for the staff, who, by the way, are all nice.

There is no menu for people on the terrace, so you can guess what they have. Response: indeed, so that was a stupid reaction from the waitress when I asked for a menu. Furthermore, I also find your reaction to my experience a stupid one.

Beautiful location with friendly service

Delightfully quiet location close to the ferry. At the front, you sit comfortably in the shade with a view of everything happening by the river. At the back, you are in the sun with a wide view over the polder. Plenty of parking space. Very rural.

Never been here before. We were here by invitation. Picked out by family in this neighborhood. Top choice. Where else do you find such nice and helpful staff in the Netherlands? Perhaps even more important than the drinks.

We come here quite often. For years. We had made a reservation here last week as well. For me, as a light eater, it's nice that a tasting menu is included. Unfortunately, we will never be coming back here. Because we were back outside by our car within an hour. In 40 minutes or even less, we received a bread board along with the starter and the main course a little later. And the plates were slammed onto the tables. The spoons even fell on the floor. And not just at our table. We went home very disappointed and bewildered. Such a shame.

Super beautiful place with nice staff

In a beautiful location close to the ferry and the waters of the Lower Rhine stands a stately building with terraces on both sides. We chose the terrace by the water. Unfortunately, the wooden benches are in dire need of a fresh coat of paint. The small tables are covered with discolored and dirty tablecloths. The pots with plastic flowers have been put back broken, and the once-red parasols have faded in the sun. The lady who sat down next to us complains about the smell of cat urine and moves to another spot on the terrace. A sense of faded glory creeps over me at the start of this lunch. Nevertheless, we give it a chance and order. The tea box offered died years ago but has never been replaced. The served fried egg sandwich is neatly prepared. The waitresses are certainly friendly. Unfortunately, there is no decaffeinated coffee available; that costs them a star for the food in my eyes. I didn't go inside, so I can't comment on that. The owner can make a world of difference with a few small adjustments…

I need to eat gluten-free and dairy-free. Dishes I could choose from turned out to contain either gluten or dairy-free milk protein. I eventually received one salmon fillet, without sauce or a substitute. The side dishes of two vegetables, fried potatoes, and fries were limited to just fries for me. I had to ask for everything that arrived at the table to be verified, and it turned out that everything contained milk. At my request, the waiter therefore had to continuously check the kitchen. Had I not allowed this, the negative consequences for me would have been significant and unpleasant. The kitchen staff is neither competent nor creative in this regard. They do not know alternatives; absolutely nothing was taken into account. It is a good thing the young man who served had a salad (a small bowl of greens) made, otherwise it would have been even more deplorable than deplorable. The owner, who was present, did not show herself to us, offered no apologies, and even seemed to avoid our table. As compensation, however, we did receive two free drinks. This restaurant is not even worthy of that one star.

3:30 PM We wanted to have a quick drink on the terrace of ‘t Veerhuis. Before we were even properly seated, we were told that service had stopped due to dinners. As we were walking away, the waiter at the table next to us asked where people were sitting if they wanted another drink. Pretty weird!!!

Very unfriendly hostess! Not hospitable and certainly not approachable when it comes to a dispute regarding payment! If the staff is unclear about the policy among themselves and subsequently changes the agreements unilaterally, passing this on to the guests, then you have completely missed the mark! Not recommended for a stay with a group of well-behaved guests.

The first option looked good in the morning until a very unfriendly older woman pushed her way behind the counter. It's a shame; I wanted to have dinner there with the group in the evening too, but we decided against it.

Last Sunday, a reservation was made for a reception for 26 people to have coffee as the start of a joint walk on the Klompenpad. In consultation with previous telephone contact, everyone was to pay separately. Which was no problem. The reception was scheduled for 10:00 AM, but the establishment was still closed at that time. After the opening, and everyone had enjoyed their coffee, the fun began: settling the bill. The owner herself was standing behind the counter, and at the first two requests to pay, she completely lost it, asking how we could possibly think of paying separately. She would have just as happily given the money away as to allow separate card payments. The organizers were called in to resolve the issue. The eventual result was that we also had to remove all cars from the surrounding building, otherwise she would call the police to tow them away (so-called private property). The end result was therefore, after a 5-hour walk, everyone went home without a drink or a bite to eat. Another bit of lost revenue. I just had to get this story off my chest, with 50 years of experience in the hospitality industry myself. I have never experienced anything like this before.

On behalf of grandpa and grandma, for whom we booked a table, a solid 10 for the food; it was delicious. The location is fantastic, and the atmosphere inside too. The only downside was that they had to wait quite a long time for the food... they sat down at 7:00 PM and didn't get their food until 8:30 PM... probably due to a staff shortage perhaps, but on the other hand, the food was really super tasty!

We celebrated our parents'/grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary here in the front room last Saturday. We are full of praise for the willingness to help; we were allowed to decorate the room ourselves and show a PowerPoint presentation, and they really went the extra mile to ensure the day went as beautifully as possible. The room offered us a lot of privacy, which created a cozy atmosphere. The service was very attentive and communicated excellently with us. Mrs. Vonk herself also makes you feel very welcome. Last but certainly not least, the food was very well prepared and delicious. It is also great that in many cases you can get a tasting menu (i.e., a smaller portion). Downright rude service by poorly organized staff

We had to wait more than 25 minutes for our coffee and saw people who arrived later receiving their orders sooner. After a complaint to the boss(?), my partner was told that the boss has been working in the hospitality industry for 50 years and that she shouldn't complain. In short, this hospitality dinosaur should have retired long ago.

We stopped by here for lunch with the family. The food was excellent, and there was a wide selection on both the lunch and dinner menus. This certainly made it harder to choose, as so much seemed delicious. We ultimately opted for the Veerhuis Schnitzel. It was absolutely delicious, with delicious fries and fried potatoes. Especially for lunch, it was a very generous portion, so we didn't need to eat again in the evening. It wasn't the time of year to sit outside on the terrace, but it seems there are plenty of options.

We had a wonderful dinner, and the tuna as a starter and main course is highly recommended. The veal steak was also wonderfully tender. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and excellent service.

The food was delicious, the timing was a bit off, but we had to wait a very long time for our main course garnish. That was disappointing... and really unacceptable. The staff were crying and couldn't handle the pressure.

The location and atmosphere are good, but unfortunately, as other reviews have stated, the service isn't great if you bring a child. You have to chase a high chair yourself, even though the staff knew a child was coming due to a reservation and even saw them approaching the table. Unfortunately, there were also some errors with the food order, and items were missing that had been clearly requested several times during the ordering process. Mistakes happen, but when it happens with almost every course, it's frustrating because the customer has to chase everything themselves. That's a real shame, because that's not what you want to eat out for. There was also a long wait between courses, and the staff wasn't very understanding about this.

It's also great that you can order the entire menu in smaller portions via the "tasting menu"—a nice touch that more restaurants should adopt. We had a fantastic meal at Het Veerhuis. This restaurant has a wonderful and original concept: in addition to the regular dinner menu, there's a tasting menu, where you can order virtually the same dishes but in smaller portions. This allows you to choose, for example, two starters, two small main courses, and even several desserts. Ideal if you're looking to explore different flavors – highly recommended! The menu is very diverse, so there's something for everyone. Everything we tried was delicious and beautifully prepared. I personally enjoyed a small eel on toast, carpaccio, beef tenderloin, and risotto, finishing with a delicious scroppino for dessert. Every dish was flavorful and well-balanced. Besides the food, everything else was perfect: • pleasant atmosphere • attentive and friendly service • good value for money • plenty of choice and a pleasant experience from start to finish All in all, we give Het Veerhuis a solid 8 out of 10. We will definitely be back, especially in the summer, which seems like a wonderful time. We spent about €74 per person. For example, I had two starters, two main courses, one large dessert, one glass of wine, one amaretto sour, apple juice, one hot chocolate milk, and a sandwich. And maybe I'm forgetting something.

The owner said there was no discussion, and no other offer. That's not good service when you think you're having Christmas dinner with your family!

Nice place for a drink after a walk. But I was disappointed with the food twice. Once, I ordered a dish but wanted it without mushrooms, well... That didn't work! It was full of them, despite the promise. The other time, they forgot to add the guacamole to the salmon tartare. Inquiry revealed that the kitchen had indeed forgotten it. The food wasn't very good either. A shame.

Beautiful place where you can eat well

Unfortunately, the food is okay, the meat is delicious (the vegetables on the plate weren't cooked evenly for all of us, hence the three stars), but the wait is far too long. We were seated at our table just after 7 p.m., ordered a starter and main course within 10 to 15 minutes, but our starter took half an hour to be served, and the main course didn't arrive until 8:45 p.m. Those who hadn't ordered a starter were quite ready for dinner by then. We suspect the kitchen was either short-staffed or something happened to cause the delay, but in the latter case, we would have appreciated being informed. We left the restaurant at 10 p.m. We were very attentively provided with painkillers for a headache at our table. We appreciated that; thank you for that. But the wait times are truly far too long, so next time we'll choose a different restaurant for our birthday dinner. Our tips: * Better kitchen planning, or * Inform the customer if something is running significantly late or goes wrong * In that case, offer a compensation or an extra small snack (without the customer seeing it on the bill, of course). This way, everyone stays happy, and the customer will be happy to return. The restaurant's location is fantastic!

What a beautiful old taproom, with the trophies of the Paul Kruger shooting club on the wall. And what a location, right on the river. And what a dining room, a beautifully preserved tall barn, with a lovely terrace and view at the back. The menu is rather basic, so we didn't stay for dinner. But the Van Dobbens are excellent!
