We had a fantastic meal at Het Veerhuis. This restaurant has a wonderful and original concept: in addition to the regular dinner menu, there's a tasting menu, where you can order virtually the same dishes but in smaller portions. This allows you to choose, for example, two starters, two small main courses, and even several desserts. Ideal if you're looking to explore different flavors – highly recommended! The menu is very diverse, so there's something for everyone. Everything we tried was delicious and beautifully prepared. I personally enjoyed a small eel on toast, carpaccio, beef tenderloin, and risotto, finishing with a delicious scroppino for dessert. Every dish was flavorful and well-balanced. Besides the food, everything else was perfect: • pleasant atmosphere • attentive and friendly service • good value for money • plenty of choice and a pleasant experience from start to finish All in all, we give Het Veerhuis a solid 8 out of 10. We will definitely be back, especially in the summer, which seems like a wonderful time. We spent about €74 per person. For example, I had two starters, two main courses, one large dessert, one glass of wine, one amaretto sour, apple juice, one hot chocolate milk, and a sandwich. And maybe I'm forgetting something.

Good restaurant to eat, but...unfortunately, I didn't go. We made a reservation over a month ago, and then they canceled a week in advance. A large group was given priority. The owner said there was no discussion, and no other offer. That's not good service when you think you're having Christmas dinner with your family!

Nice place for a drink after a walk. But I was disappointed with the food twice. Once, I ordered a dish but wanted it without mushrooms, well... That didn't work! It was full of them, despite the promise. The other time, they forgot to add the guacamole to the salmon tartare. Inquiry revealed that the kitchen had indeed forgotten it. We had a delicious meal. And what I really appreciated was that they also offer a tasting menu. It's the same as the regular menu, except the portions are smaller. Perfect for those with smaller appetites. It's wonderful.

Beautiful place where you can eat well

Unfortunately, the food is okay, the meat is delicious (the vegetables on the plate weren't cooked evenly for all of us, hence the three stars), but the wait is far too long. We were seated at our table just after 7 p.m., ordered a starter and main course within 10 to 15 minutes, but our starter took half an hour to be served, and the main course didn't arrive until 8:45 p.m. Those who hadn't ordered a starter were quite ready for dinner by then. We suspect the kitchen was either short-staffed or something happened to cause the delay, but in the latter case, we would have appreciated being informed. We left the restaurant at 10 p.m. We were very attentively provided with painkillers for a headache at our table. We appreciated that; thank you for that. But the wait times are truly far too long, so next time we'll choose a different restaurant for our birthday dinner. Our tips: * Better kitchen planning, or * Inform the customer if something is running significantly late or goes wrong * In that case, offer a compensation or an extra small snack (without the customer seeing it on the bill, of course). This way, everyone stays happy, and the customer will be happy to return. The restaurant's location is fantastic!

What a beautiful old taproom, with the trophies of the Paul Kruger shooting club on the wall. And what a location, right on the river. And what a dining room, a beautifully preserved tall barn, with a lovely terrace and view at the back. The menu is rather basic, so we didn't stay for dinner. But the Van Dobbens are excellent!

The food is good, and it's in a beautiful spot on the Rhine. The atmosphere is cozy, but not at all clean. Cobwebs are on the ceiling, and the restroom could use some cleaning.

The location is fantastic. A beautiful, atmospheric, nostalgic building by the water in a stunning setting. I've been here several times as a stopover, and the terrace is a great place to enjoy coffee or lunch in the summer. A restaurant in this location and setting has enormous potential for excellent hospitality. So, I was eagerly looking forward to dining there sometime. The welcome was warm. Unfortunately, my partner's choice of "no-ribs" turned out to be quite burnt, and she sent them back to the kitchen, asking if they could make another portion. They told me this wasn't possible, as the dish had been prepared whole in a large pan that morning, and any other portion would taste the same. Fortunately, they understood the situation and offered an alternative: pork medallions, which were served shortly afterward. The "beef Bali" I ordered was a bit sparse but okay. It was a shame, though, that for 33 euros, it didn't come with any garnish, salad, or vegetables. Two portions of fries and fried potatoes were served with the dishes, which tasted fine, but we had to pay an extra €2.70 for the small bowl of mayo, which didn't make our overall experience any more positive. Unfortunately, we weren't tempted to have dessert. The price-quality ratio of the dishes served at this dinner wasn't what we'd hoped for this evening. This beautiful place deserves a bit more passion and less "wholesale" in the kitchen. Hopefully, they'll take this to heart; if they do, I'd love to come back.

Beautiful location with lovely rooms. My sisters and I were warmly welcomed on the outdoor terrace overlooking the water. We had a drink and some bitterballen (Dutch meatballs). They were delicious and served at the perfect temperature. Even though there was almost no meat in them, they were still very tasty.

't Veerhuis has always been a doubtful case for us, because of previous experiences, in terms of food, sometimes it is very ok, and sometimes it is very disappointing. After a long time, we thought we would give it another chance this week. The prices are now a lot higher (than average in the region), and the menu has not changed much. When we entered, we were assigned a table at the back of the large cattle shed. The first thing I noticed was the poor finish of the space. Unfortunately, it is all just not right. The chairs look a bit weathered, the space is very large and decorated rather uninspiringly. On the right side there seems to be a door to the kitchen area. To the right above the milk glass doors there is a large hole in the wall through which the wiring protrudes. As if someone forgot to install a power outlet here. Anyway, we order something there. The person seems a bit disinterested (also towards each other), and when asked what we would like to drink, I ask a counter-question, whether I can see the drinks menu. That way I have an idea of ​​what they have and I can maybe choose something tasty or special. "No, we don't have that", is the answer from the staff. Huh, no drinks menu? "How am I supposed to know what to order"? Was my first thought, because it also encourages the customer to choose something special or tasty, but apparently they don't care that much about that at 't Veerhuis in Opheusden. My wife ended up ordering a regular Spa Blue, and I wanted a glass of wine. "Can I have the wine menu for you"? You guessed it, they didn't have that either. Huh?! What?! No wine menu?!? Sorry, but any self-respecting restaurant (certainly with a price range like 't Veerhuis) should at least be able to offer its customers a decent wine menu?? I was really astonished. When asked which wines they could offer, the employee started to list a series of wines, of which I had no idea what types they were, what the flavor combinations and/or prices were. Really bad this ... in the end I went for the safe option and chose the Pino Grigio. For starters we both chose the fish tasting. We had had this before in the past but unfortunately it did not appeal to us as much as the last time. Because the menu also contains a 'tasting menu' (a copy of the a la carte menu but smaller portions) my wife chose the fillet steak for €18.25, and from the regular menu I chose the pork medallions for €25.50. The latter dish tasted very okay, but the presentation was quite sad and (here again quite) uninspired. The portion of the meat seemed to come from the tasting menu, and the 'vegetables' consisted of one broccoli florets, three small green beans and two thin slices of carrot. The steak from the tasting menu was really the disappointment of the evening. In a small bowl, there was a tiny little piece of steak, in a huge layer of fat and unburned butter, and there was literally not one (!) piece of vegetable with it. And this little pile of misery cost € 18.25!!! When asked if 'everything had been to your liking', we clearly indicated that the steak in particular was really a big disappointment. The employee tried to defend it by explaining that the pieces of meat sometimes differ in size, but that should not be a reason for the disappointing presentation (or actually, the lack thereof). No, we gave it another chance, but unfortunately 't Veerhuis was really the last time for us. The entire experience was extremely disappointing, the atmosphere (or lack thereof) and decor uninspired and if you can't even offer your customer a drinks menu or even a wine menu, I find that almost an insult to those who come here to spend a lot of money. For the two of us, without dessert and 'small main course' we spent almost €100(!!). And for such a hugely disappointing experience that is a lot of money. Hopefully the owner of 't Veerhuis in Opheusden takes this criticism seriously.

It used to be a great place, since the arrival of the new owner it is a drama! They serve really crap, even the cocktails are from a standard (cheap) bottle. Nothing invites to go there anymore. We left a drink and will never come here again.

There are two cafes/restaurants in the area. The prices are Dutch. The quality was very good. Fries, apple pie with cream, and a fish salad bowl. Pleasant atmosphere, both indoors and outdoors.

However, I was recently cut off on a Sunday morning by a van from this company that thought it necessary to overtake us on the expulsion plane so that we and all the cars behind us had to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident. The walk "the blue room" leads you to a ferry to cross the Neder-Rijn. Right next to the ferry entrance, on the southern bank, is the Veerhuis. Great seating on the terrace. Beautiful view of the river. Delicious apple pie with delicious coffee.

An absolute disgrace – what a disappointment! What a shameful display our visit to Restaurant 't Veerhuis was. From the moment we sat down on the terrace the misery started. With a two-year-old toddler with us, we had to ask for a high chair ourselves — and then drag it out of the restaurant ourselves. Service? Nowhere to be found. Waiting for drinks took forever, and all that while the staff calmly walked past without any eye for their guests. Even an upturned water bottle in the cooler was no hint to them. As if we were invisible. The courses were served in random order, as if darts were being thrown in the kitchen. And then the 'counter steak': perhaps the animal had once seen the Indian Ocean, but oriental? Not a single herb in sight. Ordered medium-rare, received well done. Sent back, and then a cold, bloody piece of meat came back. The chef lacks the basic skills – preparing a steak seems too much to ask. The height of unprofessionalism? Six times — six! — waiters bumped into our child’s chair without an apology or even a glance. The so-called half portions of the tasting menu were shameless mini-versions. One third, at most. And as if it couldn’t get any worse: the waiter who brought our drinks was sitting at a table among the guests smoking five minutes later. A waiter who also barely spoke Dutch. Uncomfortable, ill-mannered, unacceptable. What makes the disappointment complete are the owner’s reactions to negative reviews. Instead of listening, learning and improving, there is defensiveness or denial. That says it all. A good entrepreneur sees criticism as an opportunity, not an attack. This restaurant may have a beautiful location, but that is the only positive thing. The owner should be deeply ashamed. We will — of course — never come back here again.

Price quality of the menu is really not right in this restaurant. €33 for a steak of less than 150gr. and overcooked. Salad without dressing and side dishes that were served much later because the fries still had to be fried? We expressed our dissatisfaction but unfortunately no response. A waste of money, we won't be coming back here again.

Op 1e paasdag waren we daar voor de borrel, voor het overige was er veel horeca dicht . Nee, vanavond zitten we vol! Jammer. Even later bleek er toch nog een plek vrij te zijn en dat was een uitstekende keuze. Dit gezellige familierestaurant bleek een dubbele kaart te hebben, voor kleine eters en grote. De gerechten waren lekker, zoals verwacht en de hele schare obers zorgden ervoor dat het aan niks ontbrak. Gracias!

We had a party here last week. With cold and warm buffet. It was fine. Most of our guests had never been here before. We have only received compliments from them about this location. Atmospheric authentic building and excellent food. The buffet was also well stocked.

Went for dinner recently but to be honest the service has deteriorated considerably since Jan no longer works there. Having to make do with 1 glass of wine all evening! And I think paying €34.50 for a normal steak is really overpriced.

We come here often and enjoy it, but today was really terrible and I feel the need to write a review in the hope that something can be done to regain our previous experiences. We arrived for lunch around 1200. My wife and I both ordered a brown sandwich. After 5 minutes the waitress came back saying there was no brown bread. Decaf coffee is also not available. Then a white sandwich, the tuna salad was delicious and the sandwich was also fine. Ordered a freshest mint tea as a second drink. Again, after 5 minutes the waitress came back and said there was no coin.. For dessert we both wanted to eat an ice cream sundae. But you guessed it: after 5 minutes the waitress came back that our ice cream sundae could not be made today either. If literally everything is gone/cannot be delivered on Monday, my advice is not to open. Then as an additional note: The toilets are really out of order! These have not been updated since 1930, nor have they been cleaned for women. Glasses were dirty, toilet paper had run out, soap had run out and it all just looked old and dirty. We really hope that the food will return to what we were used to, then we would love to come back. When we complained that everything was gone, the response was laconic and that we should not come on a Monday. Very strange. Edit: good professional response too! We reported our complaint to the female clerk, who responded laconically, just like you are now. So it's not anonymous and my name is there too, what more could you want? Maybe another course in dealing with feedback?

Ik ging gisteren naar ’t Veerhuis in Opheusden. Voor koffie met gebak. Voor ik kon gaan zitten ontstond er een akkefietje met een mevrouw in de bediening. Ze was wat ouder. Ze liep langs mij heen, in gewone kleren en ze leek op een gast. Ze liep ook met de snelheid van een gast, langzaam dus. Ze vond dat ik haar had moeten begroeten. Dat zei ze op zo’n heel beledigend toontje, echt uit de hoogte. Ik zei dat ik aan niets kon zien dat ze in het café werkte. En ik had al de ober achter de tap begroet. Ze zei dat dit er niet toe deed. Ik had haar moeten groeten. En weer dat beledigende toontje. Ik had opeens geen zin meer in de koffie. Ik naar de liep naar de tap. Ik zei dat ik niet van deze toon gediend was, en zei nog een keer dat ik aan niets kon zien dat zei daar werkte. Ze zei voor de derde keer dat dit er niet toe deed. De sfeer werd nog meer onprettig. Ze zei zoiets van: “dan heb ik iets voor u, en ze wees mij op de deur naar de toiletten. Kennelijk was ze hier een baas, of zo. Ik wist niet dat langs de toiletten ook een uitgang was. Ik was door een andere ingang gekomen. Ik dacht: “gaat ze nou door met beledigen en stuurt mij naar de toiletten?”. Maar ik wilde weg. Weg van dat toontje, de botheid en het conflict. Dus ik liep naar de ingang waar ik was binnengekomen. En ik zei dat ik wegging. Toen kwam er een ober door de deur en blokkeerde mij de weg. Ze had hem een seintje gegeven, of hij deed dit uit eigen overweging. Opeens kon ik niet meer weg uit dat conflict. Ik zei tegen de ober: “Ga je mij werkelijk in de weg staan?” Toen schoof die beetje naar links en ik kon er langs. Ik heb alles goed gedaan. Ik heb gezegd wat ik vond. Ik ben heel rustig gebleven. En ik heb geprobeerd om uit het conflict weg te gaan. Ik heb nog nooit meegemaakt dat er dan geprobeerd werd om mij tegen te houden. Wat de ober gedaan heeft, mag zo echt niet. Ik heb niets gedaan dat zijn gedrag kan rechtvaardigen. Buiten ben ik aan de overkant van de weg op een bankje gaan zitten. Ik moest even bijkomen. Toen heb ik de politie gebeld en het verhaal verteld. Ik heb vooral verteld dat de ober mij wilde tegenhouden toen ik uit het conflict weg wilde. Die hebben de melding geregistreerd. Dat zegt op zich niet zoveel. Maar dan staat het tenminste ergens dat die lui in dat café zich raar gedragen. In de commentaren hier op Tripadvisor staat op verderop nog een geval van bedreiging. In ’T Veerhuis in Opheusden is het soms niet veilig.

Just after half past four (!!!) I see waiters walking around with my chocolate milk, but I don't know where it should be delivered. I wave to the boy and get my order. He leaves the used crockery behind. Under the imitation whipped cream there is something that tastes vaguely like chocolate milk, but mainly like water. I'm done with it and pay for the whipped cream that I ate and let them know that the chocolate milk tastes mainly like water. Why doesn't the owner of such a large business bother to properly train and instruct his staff? And why doesn't he know what his customers are being served. Pure contempt.

Unfortunately, we did not have a good feeling about our visit last night. It took a very long time before we got the attention of the waiter and after about 45 minutes we had to ask for the menu ourselves. As for the food; fish tasting good, sea bass also good, but meat trio, two of three unfortunately dry and tough.

Kwamen binnen voor een bakje koffie. Aan de bediening gevraagd of dit kon en na even denken en navragen bij de baas was dit mogelijk. Was al vreemd, want veel tafeltjes waren gewoon vrij. Na een half uur genegeerd te zijn door de ruim aanwezige bediening besloten weer te gaan zonder bakje koffie gekregen te hebben. Vreemde ervaring, maar gezien de recensies een ervaring die zich vaker voordoet hier.
