What lovely people, warm welcome 140 fresh pancakes!!!!

We had a very disappointing experience at high tea with a large group to celebrate our wedding. The appetizers took ages to arrive, each portioned per person on a serving platter, and there was too much time between them, which made us hungry. No drinks were served between meals. A high tea should be a "party," with full tiered stands and someone enthusiastically explaining the food. We emailed complaints but received no response.

It's a shame there hasn't been a response to our email with complaints. The ferry house might not recognize this. But please let us know if you do. There's plenty of time to upload pointless videos to social media, but there's no response. It's a real shame, because I used to enjoy going there.

Delicious food and good service. However, the atmosphere was considerably disrupted by a large group of people who were also present and very noisy. (It was a kind of private party in the middle of a restaurant with other guests.) Unfortunately, the noise level wasn't mitigated by the staff, but was even amplified by the use of sound equipment.

To celebrate my parents' 85th and 84th birthdays, we had dinner at the Veerhuys. My parents and sister, who had been there beforehand, had reserved the separate section of the restaurant to the left of the entrance for the family of 16. Upon arrival, we were seated at four separate tables in the main part of the restaurant. This made communication impossible, especially for the older members of the group. When I complained about this situation, I was yelled at, given his appearance, as "the vagabond" posing as the manager that evening. He said he hadn't made that arrangement with me and denied the prior agreement made by my parents and sister. - Some of the steaks had a sour taste. - We weren't even given a choice between raw, medium, or well-done. - The fries were served far too late and too few. - One teaspoon of mayonnaise for four people per table. Lukewarm chocolate sauce, too late and not enough for dessert. When this was complained about, the person was also yelled at. In short, plenty of reasons to give 't Veerhuys restaurant a miss.

Walking past this restaurant, more things go wrong than I can write about in one day.

Advice: find a different restaurant! Last Tuesday, my 89-year-old mother and an 80-year-old friend wanted to eat pancakes at 't Veerhuys. What a disappointment! Instead of the standard pancake with bacon, they served a lukewarm rolled pancake with (cold) frozen fish (!) inside. I returned the pancake, only had coffee, and then left. What a disgrace to people of this age. Apparently, there's a new owner?

The food itself was delicious, the "Twijfelaar" carpaccio with scampi was excellent. The sea bass fillet was good. The potato rosette and potato wedges were probably reheated. Wedges instead of the Roseval potatoes listed on the menu. The price-quality ratio seems a bit off here. See previous reviews. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive.

Lovely covered area. Very attentive service. I even had a pancake with bacon.

The four of us dined here, actually five of us, as our dog Woody (see photo) was welcome to join us. We called ahead and were able to get in right away. From the very first moment, we received an incredibly warm welcome. The hospitality was truly exceptional, especially towards Woody—you don't see that very often! They even asked if Woody could have a photo taken for their Instagram, so nice! The food was delicious, the atmosphere warm and relaxed, and we immediately felt welcome. A place where they work with care and heart. We will definitely be back!

Nice cozy restaurant, with friendly staff. The food was very good. The waiter who served us was very nice and attentive. Only one thing that bothered me was the garden area (closed terrace) was very dark in the evening, there was not enough light for me to read (menu) and if they cook so well, it's nice to see :)

We dined with eight people, and the food was served quickly, so it was very hot! That was great! The food was average; the pancakes were melty/soft, which was a shame. The dessert, however, was very good for all of us. The service was mediocre; empty glasses weren't collected, and drinks took a long time to arrive (compared to the food), but they were friendly. We didn't particularly enjoy the atmosphere; the benches we sat on didn't have backrests, so you're sitting with your back against the windowsill, and when the door opens, there's a very strong draft.

Just wonderful, friendly smile and humor...felt so good

We stumbled upon 't Veerhuys Leerdam on spec. We're so glad we did! The staff is incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The menu is extensive; we came for the pancakes. We loved both the savory and sweet ones, a bit on the thin side, but overall, it was delicious! Thanks, Veerhuys!

We enjoyed a delicious high tea. They really paid attention to everything, and it was delicious and looked fantastic! The friendly service was fantastic!

Sat on the terrace for fifteen minutes. Then Swiebertje (what a disheveled person he was) came to take the order. Two iced coffees, please, and a little water for the dog. Those two iced coffees were fine, but a bowl of water for the dog! He didn't know that yet. Received the order after about 10 minutes, but no water for the dog. Then asked for the bill. €12 for two iced coffees in half-filled glasses! When I asked, "Are you serious?" he said, "I also have to pay for the gas and electricity," took the €12 + €1 from the table, and walked away without a thank you. I've never met a bigger jerk in the hospitality industry. A solid 1.

We have been there more often, usually for lunch. Crazy about pancakes and you can eat deliciously there. This time dinner. The three of us. 26/6. Was very tasty. Been to lunch several times... The food itself is fine but certainly very expensive. Have often indicated to the staff that the tomato soup is tasty but that it could do with a sieve. Last time we went to lunch for my birthday. I ordered the asparagus soup from the monthly menu and here too I did not pay any attention to passing the soup through a sieve to remove the hard fibers from the peels. Also nice the soup for that €7.50 - a bit with chives maybe a bowl of homemade herb butter. The quantity is in proportion to the price there is little. You can do little wrong with an uitsmijter. Well the price. The restaurant is nicely located but price / quality could do with a bit more attention and refinement.

Dirty cappuccino and not very friendly service unfortunately

High Tea bij het veerhuys Leerdam. Nooit meer. Eten niet te eten en de bediening zeer slecht. Ook de eigenaar is niet te genieten. Halverwege de high tea weg gegaan. Dit is me nog nooit eerder overkomen!

Delicious food and drinks with a beautiful view. Depends on whether you are at the top or not, when the weather is nice. In any case very cheerful people who like to help you and the food is also certainly tasty. I have enjoyed every time I am here and will definitely come back for the pancakes. If you are in Leerdam this is certainly a nice place to go out for a bite to eat and a drink.

The chicken salad looked like nothing... 2 slices of chicken fillet (cold meat!!) and 2 slices of bacon on a bed of lettuce mix that seemed to come from the supermarket. You had to look for cucumber and tomato and dressing. And that for more than 20 euros. How dare you serve it....

Cozy atmosphere and fast service.

We spontaneously made a reservation on a sunny day. There was room. Food (pancakes) was delicious. Salad was a bit small but well filled. Service was friendly and the view was excellent. Unfortunately it was a bit quieter in the restaurant that day, but that resulted in fast service. Fine.

We ordered a dry white wine, but got a Misty Cove, a Zeeland wine. Was super tasty. Recommended. I love it. Xxx

Food was mediocre. Prices on the high side for what you get. Hostess was very friendly.

Served by a nice and hospitable waiter who takes action where necessary, chapeau. Relaxed on the small side terrace on the public road. It was a warm sunny day and we sat here on the shady side. While we enjoyed a nice cool beer and a pleasant lunch (the bouncer 't Veerhuys is highly recommended), the view over the chaos of the public road was hilarious. It's wonderful to see how everyone moves, drives, brakes, blocks, drives the wrong way, and continues on all kinds of means of transport. It's hilarious and almost a miracle to see how everyone just messes around, ignores the rules and yet everything somehow runs smoothly and smoothly. We had a great time!

Enjoyed a great high tea in a beautiful historic building. Fantastic friendly service and truly unlimited tea drinking. Big compliments to the attentive employees. Was still quite busy for a weekday.

An average of fourteen euros for a sandwich that can be made at home in no time (thin slices of smoked chicken fillet from a package, bacon, with some lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise). At many other restaurants/cafés you can get a much better lunch for the money. Unfortunately, other sandwiches from our party were no better. A place to avoid if you want a decent lunch.

Limited options in lunch menu. Simple sandwiches (16 euros 😱), can also easily be made at home. Service slow and no smile.

Food was fine, friendly service. We were a group of 12, so we could all choose the same thing, so we all had a 12-hour meal, we all had a sandwich or we all had pancakes. I thought less of that. A choice of 2 would have been a bit nicer.

I think it is a less good restaurant. Ordered 5 x pancakes with dessert and drinks. Pancakes are placed on your plate with the blackest side at the bottom. When we complained about a burnt bottom, it was about 3 discs whether we wanted another one because they don't offer refunds. Ultimately we opted for a new pancake, but it was clearly smaller and thinner than we had originally ordered. The service here and the customer is king policy is hard to find. No, for me this was disappointing and the quality was substandard. Or once but never again.

Afgelopen week hier pannenkoeken op viel ons slecht tegen, onze zoon had rozijnen op pannenkoek, maar die waren helemaal aan onderkant van de pannenkoek verbrand (volgens personeel was dit normaal) merkte het pas nadat mijn zoon genoeg had en ik stukje wilde proeven anders had ik hem gelijk teruggestuurd. verder waren de pannenkoek slecht belegt en erg ver doorgebakken ik had pannenkoek met champions, maar die waren niet zichtbaar en heb ze niet geproefd. ook zaten we in een soort tent naast het restaurant, het was koud en erg veel tocht. voor ons nooit meer hier naartoe.

Not a friendly welcome. We hadn't made a reservation so that was already 'difficult'. Finally got a table. And....wait. When they came to take the order, we didn't have a card yet. When we ordered, people made strange comments about our order. That wasn't there until it was on the menu. 3 staff and not knowing what complete coffee is.. We were also not asked what kind of coffee we wanted. So I spoke to someone again... a colleague arrived shortly... Not coming here again. We didn't feel welcome

Always tasty for a pancake but also for something else. Nice place in a beautiful town

Tasty food for a good price. Friendly waitresses. Our dog was allowed onto the heated terrace and they also came up with a good solution where the stroller could best be placed.

It was very busy and we were put in the corner near the kitchen, but before we placed the order we were fortunately put in a nicer place. We ate a delicious carpaccio sandwich and drank coffee. It's great that you can overlook the square in Leerdam.

The welcome and service were extremely friendly, we were there on a rainy, windy day, it was quite drafty and it was chilly, the heaters were turned on after we said something about it, which was nice. We had a brown carpaccio sandwich, the sandwich was noticeably small. Furthermore, no salad, chips or the like next to it, which you would expect with a sandwich €14.50! We were still hungry after this lunch. Shame.

Grandpa and grandma day. Had lunch with the grandchildren. Every child could choose what they wanted, a wide choice of food and drinks. Enough places both inside and outside. We had a great time. We will definitely come back, but with all the grandchildren

Good base for cyclists! Even a water point in front of the door. Handy for refilling your water bottles. Great service, nice atmosphere. The apple carton with spice in the heart is highly recommended.

They have gluten-free pancakes, but the rest of the menu also has plenty of delicious options. You can discuss with the chef what you can take in case of intolerance and I was very happy with a lot of vegetables with my food.

Atmospheric location for a tasty pancake or a delicious lunch... Fresh and more than enough, even for big eaters. Service very friendly and helpful.... after lunch you can walk into the town and there is a parking lot in front of the door. .

Very welcoming to a couple of Brits who speak no Dutch. They explained what was a available. Service excellent. Food very good. They do steak. Pizzas and loads of pancakes. Compared to uk prices are high but good value. Eat no. Later than 7 as the place gets quiet as does the town. Draft lager.

Goed restaurant met heel uitgebreide kaart, die werkelijk van alles biedt. Wij hebben op het overdekte terras geluncht en vonden het echt heel erg lekker. Je krijgt gewoon waar voor je geld met vriendelijke bediening.

Had dinner tonight at 't Veerhuys. Quite a nice meal, no wow! But really just enough. I didn't think the carpaccio was great. While I am really a huge lover. But there were a lot of threads in the carpaccio, not really great. The potato gratin with the Dorade was also not great. Tasteless and too hard a crust... All in all, not bad. But not highly recommended either. I understand that my table companions ate well. Corn chicken, soup, sea bass, etc... The atmosphere was pleasant. The service seemed very nervous (shaking order, bringing plates and drinks) and unsure.

Super friendly staff who work hard.

Cappuccino with a piece of warm apple pie with whipped cream. Downright sad. Apple pie is heated in the microwave and is then a soupy mass. For heating you also have to pay 50 cents extra on the already absurd price of € 5 for a small round of pastry. When you tell this to the waitress, no one responds. From that moment on, you will be assigned someone else from the service who acts as if her nose is bleeding. In short, never again the Veerhuys, even though this was a nice and good restaurant a few years ago.

Had pancakes here with our family tonight. It is pleasant to sit in the conservatory and the service is friendly. The pancakes were delicious. Especially pancake "'t Veerhuys", half sweet, half savory, is highly recommended.

Delicious coffee with apple pie

Coffee with forest fruit cake piece. And that cake tasted just like the coffee. If you cycle the blossom route along the Linge with the starting point Geldermalsen, you will arrive at the Veerhuys.

Quite variable in all areas. The tables give a pretty cheap impression, but the prices are not. My partner and I went for the glass menu. Cutlery was too complicated for the lady who had to set it, probably difficulty with left and right. The starter, skrei cocktail, was served in a glass bowl with a funnel-shaped glass lid containing 1 lettuce leaf. Made no sense. A knife and fork were also included, making it impossible to start anything in the glass ball with a knife. Dish was quite bland. Main course, duck, was tasty. The duck had good doneness. It is a great pity that the dietary restriction that was clearly indicated was not communicated to the kitchen. One of the signs therefore had to be returned. Because of this we ate one after the other. It was also very strange that the person whose plate had to be returned to the kitchen, i.e. where the mistake had been made, was not offered anything while the other was eating. When after some time, long after the first had finished eating, a new plate arrived, the other was offered a drink. In itself a good gesture, but presented to the wrong person. Very special. The tip has expired at this time. The dessert was fine, the floes should have been cut into small pieces, now it was a lump, but otherwise fine. But here too a presentation that misses the point. It gave us an 80's feeling. Shame. Maybe stick to pancakes and sandwiches.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. No reservations and it was very full. Luckily we could wait a while because people were just leaving! We highly recommend the sandwich with the rib fingers! Possibly the tastiest we've ever had!

Tasty, but pricey for what you got.

Ate here for the 3rd time. The quality of the food and service has really deteriorated. Really disappointing for the first time. The quality of the sweet dishes in particular is very poor. With pastries that came straight from the freezer or were already several days old. The lunch dishes were also of little interest, with long waiting times for drinks.
