Normally you get fries with the main menu, but not here, you have to pay for that. I had mussels (unlimited) but when the pan was empty they didn't ask if I wanted more, expensive food so I won't be repeating it.

Beautiful restaurant. We arrived with our stroller and almost 2-year-old son, and nothing was too much trouble. They asked if we wanted to sit right next to the play area, and a high chair was immediately brought to us. I've never seen such a child-friendly restaurant. We were also immediately offered an extra plate and special children's cutlery. We had schintzel and fish stew. Besides being delicious, the portions were also very generous. Highly recommended. And the waiters were very friendly.

I ordered mussels, which were incredibly small and inedible. I would have been embarrassed to serve them this! The prices on the menu don't match the bill. It's worth skipping this place.

We were well received, two adults with two young children, and we spoke a little Dutch. The servers were very attentive and friendly throughout the service. We were very warm on the terrace thanks to the multiple heaters, and our large dog even had a bowl of water! We ate very well despite our surprise at the extra charge for fries, which were not included with the all-you-can-eat mussels, but we are still very surprised to have been charged €200!!! Note that smoking is allowed, which is very annoying. Parking is available in the nearby public parking lot for €5 per day.

We went there for dinner this afternoon, and it was a real disappointment. The steak was tough, the fries were frozen, and my wife had a queen's snack that tasted very much like a flower. I'll never go back.

If you like to eat lots of delicious mussels, this is the place for you. 1.4 kg of mussels, very tasty. Friendly service!

My advice is to pass this place by. IT'S ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!!! €22.50 for a half-liter of house wine that tastes like nothing. Steak tartare (€22.95) with dried-out fries, and the tartare resembled a prepared meal from Aldi, completely flavorless. (Prepared meal from Aldi is much better.) The lukewarm goat cheese (€25.95) with a crusty pastry turned out to be a tasteless, crumbled goat cheese with runny honey on a piece of toast from a Dutch gas station. When the waiter at the table next to us asked if it was good, they politely replied that their food was far too expensive and tasteless. I'll never set foot in here again. Next time, I'll read the reviews first; they're 100% accurate. €1.60 for a jar of bad mayonnaise from a dirt-cheap brand. €4 for a small portion of dried-out fries, probably reheated several times in the fryer. Far too expensive for this junk.

A gin and tonic on the patio for €17.95! It should definitely be served with a touch of luxury and some salty snacks and olives. This time, it was a standard glass with a few cucumber slices. Definitely not worth the price, not recommended.

It was super busy! The staff was friendly, but the food wasn't that great... the stew had a strange texture and flavor (and the pot was tiny!). You definitely shouldn't be a big eater! The shrimp croquettes could have been fried a bit more... the inside was pure mush, and once you put it in your mouth, you could chew on it for 10 minutes. The flavor wasn't great either... we hadn't even sat down before the food was already there! I'd rather wait 15 or 20 minutes and have the food be good than have everything rushed and not good! The mayonnaise costs €1.50!

Ordering. And paying for drinks comes later, which I can understand. BUT! Your glass is still half full, and they're already asking if you want anything else. The vanilla milkshake is clearly made with real vanilla pods. It's full of flavor and has a perfect finish, just like a real milkshake should. It's served perfectly frothy in a giant glass, perfect for enjoying on warm summer days. For less than €10, you won't find a better one in Sluis and the surrounding area. I highly recommend it!

We ate here the day before yesterday and found the price-quality ratio very uneven. The sole was tasty (but very small), and the pork tenderloin was also tiny. The fries were served in a stainless steel bowl, the mayonnaise in a small container with a disposable spoon, and the promised salad consisted of a few lettuce leaves with a slice of tomato. The service was friendly and polite. The tables were very close together to accommodate as many guests as possible. There was absolutely no privacy.

Just ate mussels. When we ordered, we were told they were serving medium sized mussels; we've never seen such small mussels. 24.95 euros, plus another 4 euros for a portion of fries and 1.60 euros for a small pot of mayonnaise. It's truly outrageous how expensive this stuff is.

The mussels were so small, you wouldn't find them in a supermarket! They were selling pure waste mussels, which cost them less than 2 euros a kilo. On top of that, you pay extra for a portion of frozen fries that tasteless. We got 1 bowl for 3 people (at 4 euros per person). When we asked for more, we should have paid another 4 euros per small bowl, because according to the waiter, this was more than enough for 3 people. Which was told to us in an arrogant way. It was unpleasant to sit there because it was far too stressful and everything was actually thrown on the table. The prices on the receipt also turned out to be more expensive than on the menu. Expensive to drink as well. To end, I would say an unpleasant experience all in all. They will certainly not see us again!!! I'm never coming back! I went to eat mussels with my mother, and I was embarrassed that I'd brought my mother here. The mussels were so small they were inedible. Fries and sauce have to be paid separately, so you easily pay €35 per person just for the mussels, which aren't actually allowed to be sold. (Scam)!!!!!!!!

OVERRATED! CHOOSE ANOTHER BUSINESS! A long time ago, this place was still good, but yesterday I finally went in again, and this was clearly the last time! 4.20 for a coke is already more than the price in a historic city, and 7.95 for a mini glass of wine (3 sips and it was gone) is a bit much. Since it's the start of mussel season, we wanted to give it a try, but oh, how disappointed we were! Mussels were priced at 24.95 (like many places in Sluis at the moment), so we ordered two mussels. The mussels themselves were fresh and Super (the smallest size), but the preparation was awful! Bland, a bit of leek, 1 ring of onion, and really not tasty. My husband's pot contained several ICE COLD mussels 🤔. He left 3/4 of his pot because he really didn't like them! In the Philippines or at home, he'll devour at least 2kg! Then you pay an extra 4 euros for very mediocre fries and another 1.5 euros for a small jar of sweet mayo with a wooden spoon in a plastic container. We mentioned this, and they tried to offer us a house dessert, but we declined. We've never left so many mussels because the preparation was subpar. Choose the Philippines instead of Sluis for mussels! We eat out a lot, and this was by far one of the worst places in recent years!! I know I should take the reviews with a grain of salt, but I wish I'd read them first.

Large establishment that immediately stands out when you walk into the city centre. We were able to sit down at a table right away and were served in a friendly manner. There was no rush: we were given plenty of time to look at what we wanted to eat. The waiting time for the food was fine, although I have to say that we only ordered around 7:30 pm, so it was perhaps a little less busy. Our drink was nice and fresh and the food was okay – not spectacular, but certainly okay. After dinner we were offered the dessert menu, but they didn’t look at us strangely when we didn’t order anything else – that was nice. The establishment closes at 9 pm and around 8:50 pm we were still sitting on the terrace with two other tables, so it wasn’t really busy anymore. All in all, we had a great meal, but next time I’ll probably try another establishment, because there are still plenty of nice alternatives in the area.

I paid €15.50 for a croque monsieur, but got 2 home-made toasties! The ones from the football canteen were even better. As for the lunch menu, stay away from here!

Mussels too small, super small. Not much taste to the mussels. Asked for house wine of 6.95 and were charged a chardonnay of 7.95 euros. If the wine had been good or there had been a lot in the glass, it would have been a different story, but no. Food was below average and certainly for the price you pay. Would not immediately recommend this restaurant.

A bit on the expensive side for soft drinks

For anyone who is hesitating to eat budget-friendly mussels here: don't. 'Mussels all you can eat for 24.95 euros' is a trick to attract customers. This is how you pay without knowing: 1) almost 4 euros per person (!) for a portion of fries; 2) 1.5 euros for mayonnaise; 3) almost 30 euros instead of 24.95 euros for mussels in a different way than 'mussels natural'. Two positive points: 1) The man who served us was very friendly and came to ask us enough if everything was to our liking. We really appreciated that. Thanks! 2) The (mini) mussels were tasty (but not worth the price).

Went on Thursday, very friendly staff, mussels were a volonté and we unanimously thought they were the best mussels we had ever eaten, they were on the small side but this was said in advance. We didn't have to wait long and waiters regularly came to ask if everything was okay. Definitely recommended!

Not much space on the terrace, tables are far too close to each other, prices are not normal, terribly expensive, in a big city like Ghent you can drink cheaper. We recently had dinner at this restaurant with the whole family and it was truly a great experience! The food was delicious, with the absolute highlight being the mussels – perfectly prepared and full of flavour. The service also deserves a big compliment: the staff was extremely friendly, obliging and immediately made us feel welcome. What made it extra special was the child-friendly play corner. Our children had a great time there, so we as parents could really enjoy our meal. In short: highly recommended for those looking for good food and a cozy, warm atmosphere for the whole family!

De dame die de bestelling opnam was netjes en attent. De ober die de bestelling uitleverde was aanzienlijk minder subtiel en vriendelijk. Maar de prijzen zijn echt onacceptabele. Als voorbeeld een croque ham/kaas voor €17. Het zijn twee sneetjes witbrood met ham en kaas ertussen, op het bord nog een beetje sla. Voor dit geld had ik een vullende lunch verwacht, niet een snelle tosti die je in de voetbalkantine kan bestellen.

We were 5 adults after having asked for confirmation of the price of shrimp tomatoes as main course €24 the final bill is €41.95 with the mayonnaise supplement of €1.50 half bottle of water €8.95 and coffee €4.20 a total of 5 for €204 for a main course each and a bottle of wine to escape…….

De slechtste paling (in het groen) die ik ooit gegeten heb. Paling droog en hard als rubber, niet gegaard in de saus maar waarschijnlijk gestoomd en al enkele dagen uitgedroogd in de koelkast, nul smaak. Gifgroene gemixte saus zonder enige definieerbare verse groente-, kruiden- of palingsmaak, enkel de zakjespoeder smaak je. De volledige portie in een keer geserveerd op een koud bord dat volledig onder de saus staat. Inclusief de overbodige salade (rucola, al enkele uren geleden gemengd met zoete Hollandse mayonaise!) die er in zwemt. Geen afzonderlijk bordje voor de frietjes, dus moet je die ook maar in de saus laten weken, wat misschien wel een voordeel is voor de kartonnen diepvriesfrieten, Mac Donalds onwaardig. De minuscule portie van 7 stukjes (4cm lengte), de 3 totaal oneetbare harde staartpuntjes niet meegeteld, kost 37.95€. Maar dat heb ik niet als een nadeel ervaren, want ik heb uiteindelijk nog 3 stukjes op het bord gelaten, en aan de (overigens vriendelijke) dienster laten weten dat de kok misschien best zelf nog eens proefde van de schande die hij bereid had. De gebakken zeetong (45€) op zich van mijn tafelgenote was OK, doch ook niet meer dan dat. Nauwelijks bedropen met gesmolten boter en uiteraard dezelfde kartonnen frieten. Ook hier terug de overtollige garnituur, op het bord gekwakt: rucola in de zoete mayonaise, halve gegratineerde tomaat en twee stukjes onvoldoende gegaarde asperges in pakjesmousseline hebben niet te zoeken op het bord van een zeetong meunière. En om de 'tourist trap' volledig te maken: 1.50€ voor een éénpersoonsportie Hollandse zoete mayonaise, geserveerd zoals in de simpelste frituur, in een klein plastiek bekertje met een houten spateltje als lepel. Zodanig ontgoocheld over de maaltijd dat wij bedankt hebben voor de aangeboden gratis koffie als compensatie. De gemiddelde score van 2.5 op Tripadvisor zegt eigenlijk voldoende over de kwaliteit van het restaurant, maar hadden wij niet vooraf gecheckt. Na jaren waren wij nog eens in Sluis en zijn wij blindelings binnen gegaan op basis van de goede faam van weleer.

Have visited several times before. Prices have clearly increased but quality has decreased. Siib tongues (from the menu, not menu 1) fried to almost cardboard. €29.95. A simple coffee with a dry biscuit: €4.20. And... "Can the salad go without vinaigrette?" “Of course sir.” But it was WITH vinaigrette. Very unfortunate. Clearly much less than about six months ago.

Ondanks eerdere goeie ervaringen was vanavond een dikke tegenvaller. Mosselen op zich ok, maar ipv 25 euro à volonté, was het nu 30 euro en de frieten erbij nogmaals 4 euro per persoon. Voor frieten van uiterst bedenkelijke kwaliteit bovendien. Kwaliteit ver te zoeken, net als de groenten bij de mosselen.

De prijzen op de menukaart op het terras zijn aanzienlijk goedkoper dan binnen, zonder dat je daarvan op de hoogte wordt gesteld. Het kan soms wel meer dan € 5 per item schelen! Wij hebben ons toch enigszins bedrogen gevoeld. De prijzen op de menukaart zijn met afwasbare viltstift geschreven zodat die elk moment kunnen worden aangepast.

Vandaag heerlijk zeetongmenu gehad. Soepje vooraf, mooie vis als hoofd en nog een dessert toe. Zeker goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding en vriendelijke man die de bestelling opnam. Ook een klein potje verse gemberthee, smaakte prima.

Well, we had the choice between large and small mussels, we have the large ones significantly more expensive than the small ones. When we received the so-called large mussels, I had to notice that they were ridiculously small. I inquired with the waitress who made me understand that it was normal. Should I have used a microscope if I ordered the small ones 😃? Although a little stuck, the staff is not unpleasant, it's a shame that one of the friendly waiters had hair greasy than the poorly cooked fries that we were served as a supplement. Sometimes you regret not reading reviews first before you sit down to eat somewhere. Stupid. This is truly the worst restaurant I have eaten at in years. Mussels were very small. There was only mustard sauce, mayo or ketchup. Not to my taste and another mussel sauce could not be arranged. Please note: Pay separately for everything! Mayo, fries are not included in the price. The soles were small and dry, added a piece of lettuce and that was it. I ordered a glass of dry white wine (chardonnay? Go ahead.) and expected the house wine. The worst part was that I had to pay for that glass at 6.75 each. You can report that. Big disappointment, price quality very poor, a waste of money. I'll never come back here again.

Super restaurant, moules parfaites ! Jeux pour les enfants et cadeaux à la sortie. On revient chaque année, très constant. Le service est également super et ils parlent français !

Nice heated terrace, very nice staff. The mussels were very good and the portion was enormous. Anyone who eats here should definitely not miss the Lava Cake with ice cream as a dessert, definitely worth a treat

Expensive for what it is! Industrial Croque Monsieur!!!!! A bottle of still water €8.50 for 75cl! It’s expensive to be thirsty!! In Belgium the carafe of water is prohibited, just for that, long live France!!!!
