Restaurant Vesting Lounge in Naarden

I ordered a croquette sandwich, and after 40 minutes the food arrived, and the order was wrong. After that, there was no cutlery available. Very disappointed.

A mediocre dining experience. Went for dinner with friends. I ordered the scallops. This dish was supposed to be a large dish, but it only consisted of three scallops, some onions, and a dressing. That was quite disappointing. Comments were essentially ignored. So, a mediocre experience!

So pathetic that it was hilarious. We sat for a drink and bite in the outdoor area and waited some 15 minutes (not) to be noticed by the staff (3 young girls strolling casually, randomly approaching one table of many waiting, chatting together or just eating fries at the "pass-through" window). Once explicitely asked for attention, we eventually got served our drinks and a "borrelplank", with not a single napkin or table picks for the fingerfood, seems a Dutch standard though.

You can sit on the terrace, but you won't get any service. The staff is busy with other things. Maurice Bessy's tag was nice, though.

We arrived for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. After waiting an hour and still no food, we paid for our drinks and left without eating.

We waited a long time before finally being able to signal someone to take our order. We were offered the wrong drink twice (it was for another table). After 20 minutes, our order still hadn't arrived. So we just left. This is a huge task for management.

Delicious beers, friendly service, and fun with kids (pencils, toys, etc.)

I've honestly never experienced such a mess. After waiting an hour and a half and ordering twice, I finally got my food, and there was no apology.

I thought, "I'll have a nice bite to eat in the fortress with my dog." So I settled down on the terrace of the fortress lounge. Normally, I'd pass by a three-star restaurant, but this time I hadn't looked. And I'm glad I didn't. I had a delicious meal (lady steak) in the sunset with a limoncello spritz. I chatted pleasantly with the people next to me at the table. The service was simply excellent. For €25, I had a wonderful meal, drinks, and relaxation on the nicest street in the fortress. Just do it, I say.

The cook can't cook, not even a fried egg, the egg yolk is dry and mealy when fried, and you have to look for the ham with a magnifying glass.

We sat down and waited 10 minutes before they brought us the menu and that was it, after about another 40 minutes we got up and left because no one came. The staff walked around but they completely ignored us. So I don't recommend it.

I’ve been here twice and both times ridiculously slow service. Had a bad experience a year ago with lunch, with crazy slow service - hard to get attention of staff to order food, it taking AGES to arrive, seeing it sitting on the side waiting to be delivered until it got cold as no one was paying attention, to struggling to pay at the end. My partner nearly walked off it was so bad. A year later I thought I’d give it a second go just for coffee. My apple pie arrived, no coffee. Others who arrived well after me having theirs served around me. Took about 25 mins for a cappuccino to arrive. No apology from staff or acknowledgement that it’s not acceptable. To make it worse beyond crazy slowness of it, it’s overpriced. And the food is average. The atmosphere in the square is lovely but it’s ruined by the experience. I really would not recommend.

The restaurant is nice and in a beautiful location, but the service is absolutely not up to par even with a small number of guests. We only had coffees and waited 45 minutes for them. I would not find anything better here

A spot on the terrace in the sun was quickly found. Many serving staff on the terrace, but you have to order with a QR code. A tuna sandwich and a fish salad seem like simple orders to me, but it took three quarters of an hour before they were brought. It's a good thing we had to pay in advance, otherwise we would have walked away long ago. The tuna sandwich was fine, the fish salad consisted of a base of mixed lettuce with some cold fish here and there. The bill was exactly as high as the minutes we had to wait. I will skip this terrace from now on.

Today we went here for a drink and a bite to eat on this hot day. As it got busier, the orders went a bit less well. In the end, it was resolved nicely. The food and drinks were fine and the hard-working staff was friendly and neat.

We went here for lunch. The lunch was good but not outstanding. The price for the food was a bit more expensive than normal but the drinks are extremely expensive here.

Because it was raining we were allowed to sit in the library with the dog. Super nice that it was possible!

We had an absolutely incredible experience. We were a group of 13 people (8 kids out of the group). The food was so good we barely took pictures, but it was very aesthetic, flavourful and rich in ingredients. The atmosphere was magic. Definitely would come back!

Terrible service. The waiters were extremely slow and unobservant. I had to raise my hand ten times just to place an order!

Went here a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday. It took a long time before we were helped, and when someone finally came by, she immediately said that they were closing – so we couldn’t order anything anymore, pff she could have said they were closing right away when she saw us. In short: a day in Naarden was not really a success because of this. The service leaves a lot to be desired… maybe it’s the region?

We waited for almost 1h30min, that is insanely long, the restaurant was almost empty! The waitress made a few mistakes on our order, but whatever, we’re just people. Food itself tasted great, but so would everything after such a crazy wait time…

Lunch in de Vesting Naarden. Dan denk je, nou daar zou toch iets leuks moeten zitten, of niet? Aan de buitenkant lijkt het restaurant aardig, maar gelijk na binnenkomst verschenen de rode vlaggen. Mijn tafelgenoot kreeg een glas wijn, met de lipstick van de vorige gast er nog op, terwijl dit glas al zichtbaar gehavend was… Verder was de bediening vriendelijk, maar de jonge vrouw had werkelijk geen idee wat haar werk in hield. Ervaring kennelijk nul en opleiding idem dito. Het lunchgerecht was lekker. Dat dan weer wel. Conclusie : te vermijden.

Kaasplankje besteld met extra brood. Brood was geroosterd en bijna aangebrand ook het rozijnenbrood was geroosterd. 4 sneden voor €5,50 vrij duur. Ook het kaasplankje was erg karig en prijs kwaliteit niet in evenwicht. Bediening was erg vriendelijk.

Vrijdagavond heerlijk gegeten in het restaurant binnen. Kok stond alleen in de keuken, maar kon het prima aan. Bediening was vriendelijk en werd snel geholpen en geserveerd. Locatie zag er gezellig uit, toiletten ook netjes. Geen kinderhoekje kunnen ontdekken. Enige minpuntje van vrijdag was dat het vlees iets te doorbakken was voor medium. Zondagmiddag geluncht op het terras maar een hele andere ervaring gekregen. Mogelijke verklaring doordat er binnen ook 2 grote reserveringen waren volgens de bediening, maar dan was hier blijkbaar niet het personeel op ingepland en/of keuzes gemaakt in geen eten serveren op het terras bijvoorbeeld. Bediening was rommelig, eten kwam laat en niet tegelijk. 1 persoon had het bijna op, andere moest nog gebracht worden. 12uurtje (soep niet op smaak, simpele kroket en kleine salade) werd niet compleet geserveerd en was de €20 absoluut niet waard! Broodje met vlees was koud en taai. Naar aanleiding van de ervaring op zondag snappen we heel goed de 3 sterren. Alleen afgaande op vrijdagavond absoluut niet! Zonde!

Highly recommended in the heart of Naarden Fortress. The service is welcoming and helpful. The menu is extensive and surprising. Good food at a reasonable price. Excellent!

Vooraf gereserveerd en aangegeven dat er een vegetarier bij was. Het leek alsof er niet op ons gerekend was. Er was 1 hoofdgerecht die vegetarisch was; een andere keuze was niet mogelijk. De zaak was slecht geventileerd, het stonk naar bakdampen. We kregen de slechtste plek naast de kassa toebedeeld. De groenten waren zwart geblakerd en het personeel ongemotiveerd. Zeker geen aanrader!!

The building looks beautiful from the outside. It is also cozy inside, but too many tables for the space. The staff couldn't handle the volume and everything took a long time. The prices are really Goois: € 11.50 for an extra (two sandwiches with three eggs), if you want cheese with it, you pay extra. I wouldn't go here again.

A visit to Naarden brought us to this enormous restaurant. The terrace, (a bit without atmosphere) but packed, still had a table in the shade for us. It took a long time for the staff to bring the menu, but hey, it's Sunday so we had time. The tuna melt and avocado were ordered. They were very tasty sandwiches, especially the avocado sandwich, which is businesslike but effective and you can definitely order it again. Price quality is ok. The avocado sandwich (€8) is on the cheap side and tuna (€14) serves the top end of the market. All in all, a nice place where you can get a great sandwich.

The service was friendly. That's about it. A tarte flambée for €11 that is very small and not good. Fries with parmesan and truffle mayonese for €7.25 which were very crispy. Not recommended

We arrived at the restaurant late Monday evening. Nevertheless, we were greeted very warmly by the young staff. We wanted something light. And we were pleasantly surprised. ...

You pay way too much for what you get here. Looks like a nice location. 13.50eu for an omelette with ham. That's literally what you get, except for two cheap slices of bread. For 13.50 euros I would have expected at least a luxurious sandwich and something to garnish or a salad. My girlfriend's flamkuche was also an uninspired snack, dough with bacon flakes and an occasional scoop of creme fraiche.

Nice terrace, friendly service. Good for a snack but also a fancy restaurant inside.

Cheese sandwich for 13 Euro...cheap/bad bread, not toasted, eggs, 2 slices of cheese, no garnish...will guests come back for this? Not me.

Really a bad tent. Very poor service and staff don't feel like doing it at all. After having to wait 20 minutes for our drink. Waited almost 1.5 hours for a carpaccio sandwich and a portion of flamkuchen. A real horror

Super tasty sandwiches with fresh ingredients and friendly service!

Here you are visiting the service. Young staff who sit in the middle of the restaurant on Saturday evenings, folding toilet towels while talking to their friends and drinking beer/wine, being curt with guests and walking through the restaurant with garbage bags. Nice place with a lot of potential, but you need to train the staff if you let people dine with you for 40/50 euros per person ;-)

Generally I don’t leave reviews but this experience was so bad that I had to. The waitresses forget everything, we asked for mayonnaise and salt, it never came. We had to walk up to the front to grab our own menus because the waitress just never brought them, same with the salt. We ordered fries and they were ‘out’ then 15 minutes later she came back and asked if we still wanted the fries. The fries that came literally 3 seconds after agreeing (see picture below) have probably been in the fryer 3 times and were incredibly gross. The waitress did remove the fries from the bill since they were inedible. The kroketten tasted good.

I very liked the cocktails here, especially the classic mojito🍋🥃 Enjoying this incredibly refreshing sweet and sour taste with hints of mint🌿, I admired from the window the Mannerist facades of the Town Hall and its ancient sandstone cross windows. This cultural and historical landmark, with a double-stepped gable in the Dutch Renaissance style, was built in 1601 and is located across the street from the restaurant. The charming atmosphere, friendly staff and magnificent views of the ancient city make Vestiging a place you always want to return to. Heel erg bedankt💙💛

I ate here with a group (6 people) for dinner. It was very busy. I never understand why restaurants refuse to try to dampen the noise level at all - everything in the place was hard surfaces and it was very loud. We spent the whole night shouting at each other. Service was very slow and they ran out of a fish course so one of my tablemates was able to order it but others could not, which was unfortunate. Food was fine, but not worth coming back for. Aubergine was a bit tough/chewy which I don’t like. It is a nice space -I might have enjoyed it more if it had been a bit quieter. Despite the beautiful location in the Vesting it was a bit disappointing.

Had a nice lunch here. But unfortunately it all took a very long time and was very messy. A table next to us came to sit later but already had food before we had a drink. The food is definitely worth it with tasty sandwiches

Restaurant located in a beautiful location. So much for the good news. The menu consists of small dishes. Because I didn't feel like it, I asked if the tournedos (€35 with fries) was also a small dish. No, this was not the case. I was astonished when the main course arrived. A plate with 8 mini pieces of tournedos and a roasted leek. Luckily we could laugh about it. We saw 2 small satay sticks with a little mayonnaise arrive at the neighbor's house for €20.00. Hilarious. This restaurant belongs to the once but never again category.

Veel te hard gebakken patat, bovendien allemaal kleine stukjes. Als je dit op de kaart zet met een hamburger voor 16,95 zorg er dan voor dat dit toch wel in orde is. Weinig liefde voor het vak. Bediening weet van elkaar niet wat ze doen 3 x gevraagd of we wat wilde eten, terwijl we al besteld hadden. Op de vraag of het gesmaakt had, eerlijk gezegd dat de patat slecht was, sorry hiervoor was het antwoord. Daar bleef het bij, volgende vraag mogen we afrekenen werd beantwoord met, he?? Al met al, een zaak waar je veel geld kwijt bent voor weinig liefde voor het eten en de klant.

De bediening is echt belabberd. Ze hebben eigenlijk geen idee wat ze precies moeten doen en worden niet aangestuurd. Bestelling vergeten door te geven aan de keuken en het duurde allemaal erg lang. We krijgen een glaasje wijn aangeboden voor het ongemak die vervolgens op de rekening staat. Jammer want de kwaliteit van het eten is goed. Voor ons niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Snap niet waarom het zoveel negatieve reviews krijgt. Lunch was lekker en vullend. Service was snel voor hoe druk het was. Broodje kroket met pickled onions en truffel mayo was erg lekker.

Gevraagd om rare gebakken, kregen medium. Daarnaast moesten we Google gebruiken om te ontcijferen wat op de menu kaart stond. Belachelijk hoge prijs van 20 euro voor 2 houten stokjes met paar stukjes kip. Patat kostte per persoon nog eens 6,95. Geen aanrader. Wel leuk terras en locatie.

Wij hadden een erg fijne avond; het eten was goed, de bediening idem, de zaak ziet er fantastisch uit. Kortom, na de ‘aanloopproblemen’ heeft het restaurant de zaken meer dan goed op orde. Wij komen sowieso terug!

Bijna een half uur wachten op twee broodjes die op zich wel prima waren, maar wel klein. Gezien de prijs ( 13 euro voor 2 lekkere maar kleine garnalenkroketjes ) was dat een tegenvaller.

It's an ok place, there can be many improvements: service was very slow, food options were limited. Taste wise, it was ok, nothing special. If you want a glass of wine or a beer, it will be ok, but you shouldn't have high expectations about the place.

I have no idea what caused these negative reviews. My experience was nothing but great. Nice and welcoming staff, absolutely perfect steak (yes, it was a small portion but the temperature and seasoning was perfect), great sides, delicious salad and an amazing breakfast the next morning. I agree though that they should implement a system for the staff to be sure which tables they run. Other than that it was fantastic!

Un lugar que prometía pero.... fue EL PEOR SERVICIO QUE HACÍA MUCHO TIEMPO NO ME HABIA ENCONTRADO. Primero no me he sentido nada seguro referente al protocolo Covid. Ninguno de los empleados usaban mascarillas ni el cocinero. Traen las botellas de Prosecco sin abrir y esperamos 10' y le decimos que si nos pueden abrir y traen el sacacorchos y nos lo dan para que lo abramos nosotros porque no sabía cómo abrirlo. Otros 15' y le tuvimos que dar señales de humo para que vinieran y que nos trajeran carta menú . Otro 15' para que nos vinieran a tomar comanda. La comida , calidad y precio deja mucho que desear. 6 camarera para una sala pequeña y mal servicio.... especialmente una EMPLEADA la estuve observando y daba vueltas de aquí y allá y no hacía NADA . Hay que cambiar mucho para que vaya de nuevo a ese sitio. Eso sí , muy sonrientes y amables .

Uitstekend gegeten, vriendelijk personeel. Leuk concept van shared dining en van goede kwalitiet in een prima ambiance.

Capuchino is good and teriyaki sandwiches worth all the money.
