We were here on the weekend of September 12th and 13th. It was Appelplukweekend with many local market stalls, music, and lots of food. 😊 Lots of nice people on a beautiful day.

What a beautiful and cozy restaurant... delicious food, friendly service. Highly recommended.

After the farmers' market, we decided to have a nice drink and something to eat on the terrace. But we didn't get our order. Other tables received their food and drinks immediately. The lady who took our order wasn't the happiest either, but oh well, it was busy. But not even an apology; I certainly won't be coming back here.

Delicious tartlets and tasty coffee. I had a delicious apple tartlet myself. There is also a disabled toilet.

Nice place and great service, but 1 hot chocolate, 1 latte macchiato and 2 small apple tarts, so not particularly big, though tasty, cost €23.50.......so 4 items almost 6 euros each.....

One of the best brunch in Utrecht

Friendly welcome, nice ambiance, but a menu with nothing normal on it. Not even soup as a starter, and the main courses are all weird with strange names. We left and went to eat “normally” elsewhere.

Nice place, good food, though quite pricey. Minor downside... with the bread and croquette, they put a dollop of mustard on one of the rolls. Maybe a small bowl next to it? But otherwise fine.

We are disappointed with the price-to-value ratio. The food was delicious, there is no debate about that. The portions could have been a bit larger. The concept is an up-selling menu.

I had my wedding celebration at this location. The organization went smoothly thanks to Lieke. And the day was just how I imagined. The cocktails were great, thanks to the barista. Thank you to the chef for the delicious meal. All of my guests enjoyed the food. And thank you to the staff who were available at all times and made sure my guests were taken care of.

Weldaden has a separate small room, the Waterlinie, friendly service, and is easily accessible, especially for the disabled.

Delicious Sunday afternoon lunch, finished with a lovely pastry. Friendly and efficient staff. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail, and attention was paid to their presentations. I will definitely keep this in mind for next time!

The food itself is good, but we didn't find the price-quantity ratio ideal. The average lunch price is 18.50, and for that you often get just one sandwich—admittedly with generous and good fillings—but all in all, we found it quite pricey.

Delicious food, no small portions. Cozy atmosphere, even the dog is welcome.

A beautiful location, cozy, and good atmosphere. Shop + restaurant perfectly fine, friendly service. The only downside is the food; I had a Caesar salad. The lettuce wasn't the problem—there was more than enough in it—but the chicken was very limited. It looked just like a few slices from the deli section of Albert Heijn that had been draped over it. So, the price-quality ratio was not a good match.

What a fantastic place! Everything is just right here. The food is delicious, fresh, and prepared with great care. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, making you feel welcome immediately. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and hospitable. They take their time with you and ensure that you want for nothing. The bakery is also highly recommended, with delicious fresh rolls and treats. Absolutely a place we would love to return to. A solid 10, highly recommended!

Nice place for a drink, a party, or a company outing. I was there for the latter, and besides drinks with tasty snacks and good house wine, we herded sheep there. The new hype for team building and company outings. This was organized by Vroeg, although we didn't have the shepherd they normally work with, but a substitute shepherd. They were two nice ladies with a lovely flock of sheep of a breed I hadn't seen before. We had a lot of fun guiding the sheep through an obstacle course. Highly recommended. Friendly staff and reasonably accessible by public transport, but there is also parking available at the restaurant.

A very nice restaurant with a beautiful and atmospheric terrace. We had some drinks and ate various cakes here, and everything was delicious. They also sell all kinds of tasty, fresh products. The service was good and friendly. Definitely a nice place to enjoy a drink and savor all the delicious treats!

Restaurant Vroeg is more than a place to eat; it is an experience. From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed with genuine attention and a smile. The people who work there are warm, attentive, and highly skilled. Every dish is a small work of art: a feast on your plate and a true taste sensation. You can taste the love for pure ingredients and the craftsmanship in every bite. And then there is the bakery… irresistible. It is wonderful to take something tasty with you on the go or to make someone else happy. Everything is pure, honest, and prepared with care. A place where you not only enjoy good food, but where you can slow down for a moment and feel welcome.

We really enjoy going there, even though we can't go as often as we would like because eating out isn't really in our budget in general. The atmosphere used to be a bit less modern, and occasionally I still hope for that suckling pig from back then, but the quality, taste, and passion with which everything is always made never disappoints me, despite my strange intolerances. For instance, I have never liked fish soup, but their shrimp bisque was a huge positive surprise, just like the turnip steak (the tasting menu, formerly the tasting menu, is a fixed choice). Everything is highly recommended, especially if it sounds strange, and if you want to know the ingredients, send them an email in advance and they will look it up for you. Our dog, who always hides in corners, felt so at home inside that she decided to bark through the window and stood up a few times wanting to walk around... which says something about the atmosphere, considering she has been coming along with us to all sorts of things for 7 years.

I dined at VROEG with friends and it was cozy and delicious. I had bavette with portobello mushrooms and fries. My wife had sea bass and it was tasty. VROEG is a cozy restaurant with friendly service in an old farmhouse in Bunnik where you can enjoy a nice meal and lunch.

The food itself is fine, but I find 18.50 for a salad that isn't particularly special or large (and not even any bread with it) to be very steep. Otherwise, the service and atmosphere are excellent.

Went for lunch recently; the food was very tasty and featured unique combinations. The location is beautiful and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, the service was less than satisfactory. The young waitresses were very friendly, but the somewhat older woman (brown hair) was clearly having an off day. She made several snapping remarks, and you could tell from her facial expression that she wasn't in the mood.

I think they’ve forgotten that this is the hospitality industry; uninterested, very haughty, a sense of honor that stretches from here to the Vatican. Incomprehensible suspicion. Apart from the fact that everything is tiny in terms of portions, I think the people working here act like they are saving lives. Joking around

Just had lunch and played farmer's golf at ‘Restaurant Vroeg’. The food was really delicious and was served quickly. The service, on the other hand, was very poor. We were served by an elderly woman, insofar as you could call it helping. Very arrogant, unfriendly, and she made several snide remarks towards my mother: “that lady isn't listening, so I have to take her order for the third time now” (she had placed her order first). After lunch, we went farmer's golfing with the group. €10 p.p. for an hour is quite pricey for this activity. You get 4 ‘clog golf clubs’ and 2 balls, and then have to enter a field. Flags are missing, and the holes are completely overgrown with weeds. Not everyone participated actively, so €10 p.p. is quite a lot. Too bad. The restaurant is very nice, and apart from the grumpy woman, the staff is friendly. I would definitely come back again, but I hope we will be served by someone else next time 😉

Nice spot for breakfast, coffee and cake, or lunch. The quality is good and the quantity sufficient, but make sure to bring enough money! €18.50 for a well-filled sandwich and €4 for a cappuccino is (too) pricey.

Had an incredibly delicious lunch, the location looks super well-maintained and beautiful, the staff is very friendly, and the food was incredibly tasty! I also really like that there is the option to buy homemade products and products from the region.

Ordering a taxi was really too difficult. Just say if you can arrange it yourself, please do; we aren't really sure.

I ate at Vroeg again. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment once more. The menu lists homemade wild iced tea. In reality, you get water with syrup. For €6.50, surely you should expect something that is actually homemade. Then I read on the menu that two small appetizers are equivalent to a real starter. I don't understand that approach. Why not just serve an honest starter? And then the sea bass... The description on the menu raises expectations that don't remotely match what appears on the plate. For €24.50, you get a minuscule piece of fish. Just state on the menu that it is a very small portion, so guests know what to expect. I would have literally needed five of them to have a normal meal. The atmosphere and service were fine, by the way. The waitress handled our complaint properly. That deserves a compliment. The sourdough bread from the bakery is delicious. That was the highlight of the evening for me. What strikes me most is that much of the Dutch hospitality industry gets stuck on beautiful presentations, while taste, depth, and craftsmanship are lacking. In my opinion, cooking too often revolves around ingredients from the wholesaler that are neatly stacked. I miss spices, balance, umami, love, passion, and soul. After all, food is what we live on; taste should always come first. The presentation of the dishes looked well-cared for, but as soon as you eat them, it is disappointing. Beautiful plates cannot mask a lack of flavor. On leaving, we spoke briefly with a group of eight friends of ours who had something to celebrate. Unfortunately, they too were disappointed with the food. It was a shame to see how a festive evening turned into dissatisfaction. Dear people at Vroeg, you have a beautiful restaurant, a lovely atmosphere, and friendly staff. That is precisely why it is such a pity that, as far as I am concerned, the kitchen does not match that. I sincerely wish you much success and hope that the quality of the kitchen will one day become just as good as the appearance of the restaurant.

We had a delicious meal at Vroeg op een zondag. All the dishes were very tasty! The homemade bread is really delicious! I can definitely recommend the restaurant!

It is a good restaurant. Went there multiple times and enjoyed it. It's a bit pricey but otherwise worth it. The best thing is the bakery where you can get fresh baked bread.

The three of us went to Vroeg tonight. The reception was fine. The food wasn't exactly amazing... There was a long wait and the plates were lukewarm, for example. But the surprise came with the bill. Because all three of us hadn't unanimously chosen the same dish from the menu (one of us had a different meat option), an extra €10.00 was added 'out of nowhere'. When asked, the waitress said with a blasé smile: "Well, I hear that from more customers, but it really is listed on the menu." Even if it is listed: show your most customer-friendly side and just mention it! It saves a few dissatisfied customers who won't come back...

I stumbled upon this property by chance during my stay in Bunnik, a weekend in Utrecht, close to my hotel. I thought… as I passed by. What a nice location, it looks unique. Before resuming my return home to Belgium and stopping by The Hague, I tried breakfast here. What a top-notch experience. On a day off, I come back from Ghent specifically for this, because of the complete picture. Everything is perfect. Thanks 👍🏾💐♥️

Tasty food and a nice restaurant. However, both the bakery and the restaurant are overpriced. They are also very inconsistent; one portion is much larger or smaller than the other, and one is much tastier than the other. Still, had a nice time. Good service and a nice little bakery. Tip: in warm weather, ice cubes in the drinks would be a good addition.

Had a delicious meal, beautiful place, good atmosphere, and funny staff. However, some desserts are not half portions but rather a quarter, making them very pricey, and the service was sometimes a bit clumsy/unprofessional, but funny nonetheless, and that made up for a lot!

We had a lovely dinner for two. During our visit, there was a private party going on in the garden with, let's put it this way, mismatched music. There are nice and original dishes on the menu, and we enjoyed our dinner.

I come here specifically for the bread, which in my opinion is the best bread in Utrecht and the surrounding area. The French sourdough is like that of the best bakers in France. A few classes better than the bread from, for example, De Veldkeuken or Het Vlaamsch Broodhuys. True craftsmanship.

If Vroeg were just a bakery, it would be worth the detour just to pick up the fantastic croissants or the delicious sourdough bread. And, of course, to serve as a delightful stop on a beautiful bike ride. But it is also a wonderful informal spot for meetings, grabbing a drink on the terrace in good weather, or simply enjoying yourself. Completely worth making a detour for!

Nice restaurant on the outskirts of Utrecht, near a beautiful walking area. Lovely dishes on the menu, but if you are an average eater, you really need to order two side dishes. This is, by the way, clearly stated on the menu. This time, I had the chicken, where this wasn't necessary. It was nicely seasoned and well roasted. For dessert, the crème brûlée with cinnamon ice cream is highly recommended.

It was lovely to have lunch outside. The food was really tasty. Service was exceptionally good. Something went wrong with the order and it was resolved very nicely. Very friendly staff. I would love to come back here again.

What a lovely experience. A very extensive and varied menu that lends itself perfectly to shared dining, which is exactly what we did. What delicious dishes... Good wine, and beautiful pairings. Delicious homemade bread, and truly good cuisine. The service was prompt, friendly, sociable but professional and not overly familiar. The space is atmospheric and tastefully decorated, spacious yet cozy. All in all, a wonderful, atmospheric evening, thank you!

Sadly, it was a victim of its own success. We were turned away even though there was clearly still room and we only wanted a drink. This demonstrates poor management and a rather unwelcoming attitude.

We've been coming to Vroeg regularly for years, but unfortunately, we've increasingly noticed that the staff isn't very friendly or welcoming. Today was another disappointing experience. I wanted to have a quiet glass of wine with my parents, both over 80 years old. There was clearly plenty of room, but we were turned away with the message that "it had been so busy" and that "we still had to make room." There wouldn't be any room. We ended up going home for a glass of wine, but the main feeling was that we weren't welcome. It's a shame, because the location is beautiful, and we would have loved to have a good time there. The recurring unfriendliness and lack of hospitality are making us reconsider our visits to Vroeg more and more.

The price-quality ratio is terrible. Portions are too small, especially for the starter (the menu states: "2 starters" are listed for 1 regular entree. While the price of the small starters is comparable to the price of a regular starter elsewhere). Why? And why do you have to order the garnish separately with most main courses? Small portion of fries for €5.50 😑 I think this could be done differently.

A delicious lunch and compliments to the friendly waitress who served us. However, I was shocked by the coffee prices, and specifically the Latte Macchiato—€6. I've never encountered this price before in the Netherlands. I briefly thought I'd get something truly special, but no. A delicious coffee, sure, but just like at many other restaurants. A homemade cake at Vroeg turned out to be cheaper than my coffee. Too bad.

Best bakery in Utrecht. The baguettes are incredibly fresh and delicious. The cakes and pain au chocolat are absolutely delicious. The setting is also beautiful and it's a great place for lunch or dinner.

Asked for a table of 2 people on a Sunday afternoon at 15:30, and got rejected because they had a “busy lunch” although there were one or two tables free. This is the second time this happens to us. I understand you work by reservations, but how can you turn down customers if you have free tables? I dislike the attitude of the servers

Actually, I don't want Vroeg to have any more visitors. Ha ha, this is such a wonderful place! And now with the new acoustic ceiling, it's even better.

A really fun and dog-friendly spot near Vroeg in Bunnik 🐶💚. You can enjoy a delicious lunch, drinks, and dinner here. There's also a fantastic bakery you really have to browse before you leave... you definitely won't leave empty-handed 🥐🍞🤤 We've been here several times with Frenkie and sometimes with friends and their dogs. After a nice walk in the nearby nature, it's a great place to relax and enjoy the view 🌳✨ Small tip: the staff could sometimes check around a bit more often, as it sometimes takes a while for someone to stop by for a new drink 🍹. They're also super friendly, happy to chat, and give the dogs some attention. Love it 🐾💬 In short: highly recommended for everyone, especially those with four-legged friends 🥰✅

Very tasty food and a very nice atmosphere!

I had a wonderful dinner here last week. The flavors were surprisingly delicious and well-balanced. The ingredients used were of excellent quality. The portions weren't huge, but that was indicated beforehand. Ultimately, I left feeling satisfied and healthy. The young waitress was very attentive, friendly, and professional. I'll be back soon.

Placed a simple order while relaxing. Pastries and cappuccino. A wide selection of stewed pears as a topping for a Monchou cake. Perfect. Cozy atmosphere, top-notch bakery, and fresh juices. Oliebollen are already on sale. Close to the center of Bunnik and nature. Highly recommended!
