An hour before closing, service stops and you're practically chased away. Patio heater, lights, and coffee machine turned off, etc. Plus, it's quite expensive. A cup of coffee and tea was €9.70. Nice patio, though.

The food was tasty but far too little for what you paid for!! Very disappointing.

We had a late Dutch lunch at this wonderful converted farm restaurant, somewhere located outside of Utrecht. The ordered food, the service and the atmosphere is a perfect match. Loved too their shop with selections of homemade items like milk, yoghurt, breads, sweets and lots more.

It was great, thanks to the whole team.

Edit August 10, 2025 Unfortunately, no more homemade ice cream, but a frozen tub of ice cream. Not worth stopping at early anymore. Delicious homemade ice cream, but the prices are starting to get a bit steep. Two squares of brownies for €6.25... a white house wine for €5.50 served in a small plastic cup...

Lovely staff and service combined with excellent local produce in a quaint location! Highly recommend saving space for the desserts and pastries. Dog friendly too!

Super cozy place. Even though the road is nearby, it doesn't bother you at all. Friendly staff and we had a delicious lunch. Afterwards, we bought our own bread.

My favorite restaurant in Utrecht and the surrounding area. I usually stop by for a drink after cycling, but yesterday I had a leisurely meal with family. The food was delicious, the menu offers plenty of variety and vegetarian options. The staff are friendly. I even offered a bowl of water for the dog several times. And they come by often enough to offer drinks, which isn't always a given in Utrecht—you often end up completely dehydrated in Utrecht's restaurants and bars, but not at Vroeg! Afterwards, I quickly popped into the little shop for some tasty beers; they also have bread, crackers, cheese, etc. A truly top-notch restaurant. I couldn't ask for anything more. Oh yes: one or two Belgian beers on tap would be a nice addition to the drinks menu.

Pleasant place to sit, friendly service. The food is delicious, but the portions are quite small, bordering on symbolic. Luckily, I had some leftovers in the fridge at home. Nevertheless, I had a pleasant evening in good company.

The food was delicious, but the price was a bit high. I was shocked at the price of a bottle of Rivella for €4.50, even though Vrumona is nearby.

It's really super cozy and fun. You can eat vegetarian there, but there's also meat.

We had lunch outside, and it was delicious (open-pan omelet). If you sit outside, it's a bit harder to get a staff member's attention. The parking lot is large, but it was also completely full when we were there (lunchtime).

We had a delicious lunch at the restaurant's own bakery. Authentic, tasty products, and friendly service. We love coming here!

After telling us we did not book a table, which was their mistake, not even an apology. Almost sent us home. Service was unattentive. I will give them credit that the food is quite good, but not good value for money relative to alternatives.

Everything I've eaten here has been absolutely fantastic. I always recommend my friends to eat here. The restaurant itself looks beautiful and the food is a picture on your plate and every bite is a party, really 😜

Great restaurant with good choices from meat, fish up to vegetarian. Waiters with good will to help but with lack of experience, maybe building duets with one experienced and one less experienced could be great.

Ordered charcuterie. This was not charcuterie but NL platter. Here also what was on the menu was not there, when asked it turned out that this was no longer there the day before. Service very mediocre and furthermore very expensive. So not a good experience at all

The portions of the food were minimal. You can't think of smaller. Fries were so bad that they actually gave a new portion. Also mediocre. I will definitely not go there again.

Wonderful place with fantastic local cuisine. The spelt bread is exceptional! You can enjoy it with a group of 10 or more in their private rooms with excellent service. The desserts are truly special.

Had lunch with friends at Vroeg in Bunnik last week. Excellent service and a wonderfully tasty lunch. The lunch menu may seem a bit 'woke' because of all the unusual ingredients, but they know how to combine all the special flavours well. They make everything themselves, nothing is bought from the wholesaler. A tasty meal is prepared with love here. Wonderful.

Food was fantastic. Super tasty and fun concept. Ambiance is very nice. The bread at Vroeg is also always fantastic. Too bad the staff had less "view" on the tables and did not know what was served.

We ordered food and after half an hour we asked where it was. It was not passed on to the kitchen properly, the waiters said. 20 minutes later we got the food, it was bland and tasteless and that for €18.50 for a salad and €18.50 for a pulled salmon sandwich. Price is too high for what you get. It was Ascension Day so maybe the crowds had something to do with it, but unfortunately not worth repeating.

Update: after contacting the restaurant, we went to Vroeg again for dinner. This experience was completely different and certainly positive. The food is good and sometimes positively surprising. The service was excellent this time. We are happy to have had a nice evening at restaurant Vroeg. We assume that the last time was an unfortunate coincidence, which of course happens to every restaurant. The review has been adjusted to the average of both visits. We left after the first drink and without taking an order. We had made a reservation, but had to wait a long time each time. After 50 minutes the order had still not been taken, we only just had our drinks and even after asking the crayons for the children were still nowhere to be seen. Very unfortunate. We then paid and explained why, apologies were offered but the response was quite nonchalant. So we could not taste anything, shame about the poor service!

They prepare/bake food with rapeseed oil. When asked, it turned out that they do not want to use olive oil or butter; it has to be rapeseed oil. Rapeseed oil, like all seed oils and fats, is cheap unhealthy junk because it is always oxidized. This also applies to cold-pressed and organic varieties. There was little left.

Had a nice meal at Vroeg. I would especially like to compliment the great service: professionally skilled, yet authentically personal. thx!

Food was really good but the service was terrible and chaotic. No English menu.The waiter took our order wrong and we had to wait for almost an hour extra. After than we have not receive a proper cutlery for the dessert and hat to eat our mascarpone creme with a fork.

Very inviting terrace, beautiful location and decoration, I really wanted to go there, unfortunately I had to go inside because of the service. However, inside there was quite a lot of noise from the kitchen and I was shocked by the prices for lunch and drinks... I decided to look around a bit further despite my growling stomach. The restaurant looks nice, but that's about it. Very bad service, mediocre quality of the dishes, small portions... no I'm definitely not going back. The service is at the table, where we were sitting with 13 people, all glasses empty... she says: everything to your liking, everyone is provided for... and walks away again. Uhmmm well no we're thirsty, everyone has an empty glass... order taken... after fifteen minutes our drinks arrived, but they first went to the wrong table... eventually drinks arrived, but the order was incomplete... For 13 people they arrive with 14 main courses... well we didn't order that with 13 people... And the bill... it wasn't cheap, certainly not compared to the poor quality...

Mandatory vegetarian food during Easter brunch. Unheard of!

Heartlessly absurd prices. 5.50 for a pastry that is smaller than a pink cookie. Ginger/mint tea with 5 slices of ginger and 1 thin sprig of mint in boiled water for 4.75. A SMALL cappuccino for 4.75. The broken cookie with it was nothing but cute. Not a quiet environment in terms of acoustics. Waitresses very polite. Rest of staff very arrogant. I would not recommend anyone to enjoy an affordable, cozy cup of coffee and cake in peace and quiet and we will NEVER return here.

Leuke locatie, lekker eten, vriendelijke bediening. We vonden het prima hier, wat alleen steeds weer opvalt is dat er, zo gauw de eerste koffie en de lunch is geserveerd, niet meer actief wordt bediend. We wilden graag nog wat drinken maar kregen niemand te pakken. Daardoor dus geen drinken bij het eten en daardoor ook besloten geen koffie na het eten te nemen en maar thuis te doen omdat er gewoonweg geen kans was te bestellen. Het feit dat degene die het eten uitleveren vaak geen bestellingen (kunnen) opnemen draagt hieraan bij.

Racist people. Sent my friend away who was sent to work through a freelance platform. He looked at my Moroccan friend and said “we don’t work with you people”. And sent him home. Unacceptable behavior.

Lekkere lunch bij Vroeg. Prachtig weer dus buiten aan tafel. Vlotte bediening, aardig personeel. Goede kaart, voor iedere smaak wel iets: vlees, vis, vegan. Heerlijk gegeten in prachtige omgeving. Brood uit eigen bakkerij ruikt en smaakt fantastisch.

The portions are small and the prices high. The service varies enormously. The bakery sells delicious bread. At the same time, I find asking more than 15 euros for 3 drinks (apple juice, cappucino and latte) downright absurd.

It's nice that ice cream, coffee and fries are sold through the window, so you can stop for an ice cream during a bike ride. However, you have to pay €5 for a very small pre-packed ice cream with a teaspoon of topping and a little bit of sauce. So for two small ice creams you spend €10. That is much more expensive than larger scoops of fresh ice cream elsewhere.

The staff does their best, but the food is nothing special, the chicken is very salty and we sent it back. most dishes are okay, the cheese board was very dry and only contained one type of cheese. The restaurant is not recommended or something to come back to.

Hele fijne sfeer, mooie aankleding en mooie plek. Het personeel is buitengewoon behulpzaam, dacht heel goed mee met mogelijkheden voor mijn rolstoel gebonden moedertje. Daarnaast is het eten ook nog goed. Top dus!

Regelmatig komen we als oud-collega's nog bijeen, ditmal bij mij en restaurant Vroeg is mijn vaste restaurant en bakker. Heerlijk gegeten, 4 van 5 aanwezigen kozen voor de verrukkelijke kalfscroquetten en iedereen vond het na afloop gezellig en geslaagd. Leuk ook, dat de bedrijfsleider even een praatje kwam maken en aan mijn gasten vroeg, waar ze vandaan kwamen. Dat werd erg op prijs gesteld.

Super nice restaurant in an old farm

Prachtige plek om te Paasbrunchen met de hele familie! Genoeg parkeerruimte ook voor iedereen die met de auto kwam. De brunch was héérlijk!! Heel gevarieerd en super smaakvol. Ook genoeg variatie voor mensen met allergieën/ vegetarisch/veganistisch. Supergezellige setting en de bediening was buitengewoon vriendelijk, bekwaam en attent. We hebben enorm genoten met z'n allen! Een dikke 10, echt een aanrader!

Absurd coffee prices! 5.95 for a flat white and then you also get a small cup. And then they also charge 0.50 for oat milk. We wanted to share a pastry that you could order from the bakery. It was not possible to get one, they were only sold in pairs. Then we left.

I already think the associated store is fantastic! All bread is sourdough bread, the amount of sweets and savory snacks is fantastic.

Cozy atmosphere with great service and a mature kitchen. Our host Sem had just the right tone and timing to give us a wonderful evening. With spacious tables, a nice menu and enough space to park, highly recommended!

Here they know that a complaint is an opportunity and they have grabbed it with both hands. Definitely eat here. Tasteful, friendly people, helpful and service-oriented. How nice to experience this again. If we are in the area again, we will definitely eat there again. Cheers!

Celebrated my father's 87th birthday with family, coffee and cake. It was very busy (Sunday afternoon) luckily we had made a reservation. The service was just bad, we had to find someone ourselves after 20 minutes. Ultimately, some of the pastries turned out to be missing. The table was not cleared and with 13 people it was quite full. After this we wanted to have another drink, same story, looking for someone who wanted to take the order. They could have sold us twice as much with more active service. Prices are quite high (€6.50 for a glass of lemonade, for example).

Spent a whole day at VOEG with our team. Meetings, lunch, drinks, active games and dinner. Everything perfectly taken care of. Very hospitable and flexible team (were able to have lunch outside last minute due to nice terrace weather). Delicious food without any fuss with beautiful products, top bread of course and fantastic cappuccino made from fresh creamy milk. Highly recommended!

Surprisingly delicious food, nice restaurant

Restaurant Vroeg has recovered well with the new owner! The products are fresh, far from factory food and tastefully served. The dishes are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. After an earlier disappointment, I have now become a fan!

Nice traditional restaurant with fresh products and a good menu. The food is good, but given the great attention paid to the ingredients and preparations, you might expect a little more flavor. The service is excellent, as is the location and atmosphere in the special building. However, the room is noisy.

That wasn't good!! Food cold for both of us and the winter cod undercooked. The staff thought they could make up for it with standard sentences. Sorry, I have nothing to do with that. After 5 minutes it was served again on the table, not much better and very limited in what was served. The concept is clearly not our concept. Then go home grumpy!!! Ton Tondeur

Not suitable for lunch with small children.

Delicious breakfast, but quite pricey in relation to the amount you get. But despite that it was delicious and the staff and atmosphere were very pleasant.

I was there because a colleague was retiring. The best thing about this restaurant is that it is putting the bread baking craft back on the map.

This nice restaurant is located opposite the Amelisweerd entrance. They also have a shop with delicious currant buns. Small menu with tastier dishes The restaurant itself is a nice open space with beautiful roof tiles. We were there with a group and had to wait a long time for the main course (over an hour).

Went there for work for a meeting and lunch.

Been for lunch. We got there early and there was still plenty of room. The later it got, the busier. So always good to make a reservation :). Tasty lunch and nice atmosphere. We sat in the conservatory outside which was great. :)
