This was our third visit to this restaurant. Always an explosion of flavor! The dishes are incredibly unique and exceptional. Modern cuisine at a Michelin-star level. The entire service staff is also incredibly friendly and attentive. Thank you, and we'll definitely be back.

A true culinary standout where you are extremely pleasantly surprised by every menu, all year round. You are welcomed and served like a warm bath there.

What an incredibly lovely restaurant this is. Upon arrival, we were immediately welcomed very well and politely. I chose a wine pairing with the 6-course dinner. And even though the food itself was already a true taste sensation, the wines managed to elevate the meals to an even higher level. For every dish, the hostess spoke passionately about the wines; my wife chose the non-alcoholic option and was also very satisfied. With the serving of each dish, it was clearly explained what we were having. For terms used that I didn't know, the waitress was more than capable of translating them into simpler words. One small point of attention: the soundproofing in the room could be better. I absolutely recommend Restaurant Wijs. And I will most certainly come back here more often. A culinary highlight in the otherwise rather limited restaurant scene of North Holland. Small but exquisite, the restaurant welcomes its guests with very warm and attentive service. You won't find a menu here, as there's only a choice between a 4- to 7-course tasting menu. We opted for the 5-course menu, which was very well-balanced. We were served two fish and two meat dishes. The four stars were awarded because the lamb rump was cooked well-done and the rump steak in the fourth course was unfortunately very tough. However, it was cooked perfectly. Afterwards, we had dessert and cheese, both of which were very well received.

Fantastic! We were away for a weekend in the area and ended up here by chance. A warm welcome, delicious food, and super friendly staff. It's a shame we live a 3-hour drive away, otherwise we would be back soon :-)

Friendly, professional service. Nicely decorated and functional. Clean toilets with separate towels and the option to use deodorant. Dogs are prohibited inside, but are allowed outside on the terrace, which is heated, offers plenty of space, and offers varied views. You don't have to pay close attention to see a collision right outside your door. And all this in complete peace and quiet!

I got to experience a whisky tasting last weekend. Not only was it great, but it was also a very accessible entry point for someone who isn't a whisky connoisseur. After a warm welcome, as if by (chef) Duncan or (hostess) Marjo, you soon feel like a familiar face. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The first whisky tasting organized here was also fine and good; together with the tasty snacks, I thoroughly enjoyed a pleasant afternoon. This should definitely happen more often ;-)

I've eaten vegetarian at Restaurant WIJS several times and have been pleasantly surprised every time. If you let us know well in advance that you'd like a vegetarian meal, Chef Duncan will conjure up a fantastic and exclusive menu. Each dish is refined and perfectly balanced. Marjo's accompanying wines complete the experience. It feels like true fine dining here, even for vegetarians. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a unique and carefree vegetarian experience.

Enjoyed a four-course dinner on Friday evening. Quality of food and wine was fine. Price-quality was also very good. One small downside: for a four-course dinner the quantity was on the moderate side. Explanation of my comment about the noise level. One table occupied by 4 gentlemen: they spoke to each other at full volume.

Had a great meal at WIJS! The atmosphere was wonderfully quiet and friendly. Quiet background music in a homely space that is not crammed with tables/reservations. The food was excellent with surprising flavours (such as the kletskop with crayfish and avocado). The service was also good and they thought along with our wishes. Two small remarks: the liquid course with butterscotch and rum could be better announced. We found this very strong and did not think it fit in with the menu. Driving with such a cocktail also becomes difficult. In addition, you could upgrade the terrace. Now the atmosphere/decoration inside is very different from outside, so you do not quickly get the idea that there is a luxury restaurant.

Very good food. Beautiful combinations that you won't easily eat anywhere else. The hostesses make you feel welcome, you feel comfortable. And after eating you can sit back and enjoy it for a while. It's also the little things: a napkin that has fallen on the floor is immediately replaced. When you get up to use the toilet, the napkin is neatly folded and placed on the table. It can be seen that food is prepared with enthusiasm and expertise. Service is good. Attention is paid to small details (such as if a piece of cutlery falls on the floor, clean cutlery is almost immediately found). We are regularly asked if everything is to your satisfaction. It is clearly explained what is on the plate and the wines are selected from the courses and provided with explanations. All in all we had a pleasant and very tasty experience.

Met onze vriendengroep dit keer gekozen voor Wijs. Heerlijk gegeten, de prijs- kwaliteit verhouding klopt. Daarentegen klopt de prijs-hoeveelheid verhouding niet. De gerechten zijn écht (te) klein. Ander punt is de akoestiek: er is in het restaurant zóveel echo dat je niet anders dan met veel moeite een gesprek met je tafelgenoten kunt voeren.

This has really been addressed very well. I also had a nice variety of non-alcoholic drinks with each course that went well with all the dishes. It was an AMAZINGLY fun experience.

Het menu wisselt per seizoen, dus er staan altijd verse, lokale ingrediënten centraal, wat zorgt voor originele en smaakvolle gerechten. Je kunt kiezen uit vlees, vis of vegetarisch, en alles wordt mooi gepresenteerd en smaakt geweldig. Wat Wijs extra fijn maakt, is de service. Het personeel is vriendelijk en denkt graag met je mee. Ze hebben goede suggesties, vooral als je wat inspiratie nodig hebt voor een wijn die bij je gerecht past. De prijzen zijn niet goedkoop, maar de kwaliteit van het eten en de service maakt dat helemaal goed. Als je in Anna Paulowna bent en zin hebt in een avondje lekker eten, is Restaurant Wijs zeker de moeite waard! Restaurant Wijs is ook een aanrader om heerlijk te lunchen, vooral de etagere met verschillende hapjes vinden wij verrukkelijk.

For this restaurant you really have to drive to Anna Paulowna. It is a small and attractive restaurant. The service is neat and very friendly. We ate a 5-course menu and were surprised by the flavor combinations in combination with the wines. The chef can REALLY cook. This restaurant received a 9.0 from the Noordhollands Dagblad. As far as I'm concerned it's a 9.5. Truly a hidden gem!!

REALLY fun, a cooking workshop that the six of us did. We were received very kindly. We received a short presentation from the team with a welcome drink. Perfect accompaniment in the kitchen when cooking. Excellent explanation of the wines in harmony with the dish. Four course menu done. The dishes and between dishes were all taste sensations. Delicious. Just a pity that the quantity was too little. I'm not a big eater and don't want to be full after dinner, but it could have been a little more.

The surprise menu is only complete if you don't make it too difficult for the chef by eating vegetarian, because then they simply leave out the animal products or you get a bowl of lettuce. Not of this time

Spent a wonderful afternoon with Wijs. The snacks and cocktails were very tasty. Afterwards, it was raining cats and dogs, we were offered an umbrella to help us get home somewhat dry. Top! All in all a successful afternoon.
