Nice, solid restaurant, will definitely come back more often.

A great place to try Zeeland's meats, fish, and seafood. The seafood platter is wonderful, the oysters are marvelous, and I would perhaps avoid the lobster—it's expensive and not that great. The biggest problem was that it took ages for the dishes to arrive, even though the restaurant was empty. They need to learn to manage their time better, although the waiters are very friendly.

Disappointed...how a simple order can go wrong. After our starter: 1 x mussels with Zeeland vegetables, 1 x classic mussels. Delivered: 1 x classic mussels, of which the English-speaking young lady - also 'a check' - keeps insisting they are Zeeland mussels, and 1 x Mediterranean mussels ...with chorizo, so PORK!!!! Reported it to the wait staff twice, but the only response we get is 'so that is a mistake'. Everyone can make mistakes, but empathy was veeeery far away. Shame, but never again....

Try something different from the standard fare.

This was the 4th time I ate here, but unfortunately, it will be the last. I was always enthusiastic about it, regarding both the price/quality ratio of the food and the staff. But today was a real disappointment. The food has become very expensive, and even fries had to be ordered separately rather than with the main course. Also, during dinner, we experienced twice that we ordered something from the menu, expecting to receive those ingredients on our plate, but instead, something else was served or it was missing. We pointed this out politely, but nothing was done about it. It was mostly just "made up for." We also felt quite ignored regarding what we pointed out. In the end, I just wanted to leave. Ultimately, I paid €100 for a piece of meat, one chicken satay, some tea, and fries. Very disappointing...

Last Saturday night, my boyfriend and I dined at Zeeuwse Streken. We're not from the area, so we mainly based our choices on the reviews and the menu. We're glad we did because the food was so delicious! The food was quick, fresh, and varied. The service was also friendly and courteous. We would definitely recommend Zeeuwse Streken!

We were seated in the bar area, where the acoustics are terrible. The only noise is the loud materials, which allow everyone's conversations to filter through. It was deafening. We didn't get our menu until half an hour later, and when we tried to order, we were completely ignored. When we finally managed to order food, we were told half an hour later that what we'd ordered wouldn't be served that evening, so we had to reorder. By then, we'd been inside for over an hour. The waitress insisted she couldn't move our order forward, but escalating it to the manager helped, and within 10 minutes we had our food. However, we weren't the only ones whose orders didn't go smoothly. Next to us sat a young couple who first waited an hour for a basket of bread and then another hour for two main courses. The ribeye was served raw, and when the young man complained about it, the manager argued with him. He then had to wait 20 minutes and was given a shoe sole in return. His girlfriend had finished her meal in the meantime… very romantic Valentine's Day, indeed… Our food wasn't warm and my wine glass was very dirty, so we sent it back. A replacement never arrived, but it was on the bill. When we reported that we hadn't received that glass of wine, the manager questioned it. Disgruntled people were sitting at every (really every!) table around us, everyone complained, and we heard the waitress making endless excuses. What a truly awful experience! Never again! And oh yeah, if you have three red wines on the menu, and they're all French, you don't really understand the restaurant business.

The service was excellent, except the meringue was a disaster. The warm cherries with the sorbet were great, except for one unsatisfactory meringue tartlet. The meal was superb, the presentation was delicious. I'll definitely be back. Thank you to the waitresses who took the time to chat with the customers and even the dog.

We've been here four times now, and each time we think we'll give them a try, but honestly, it's always the same. Slow, unfriendly service, but today, to top it all off, I have to look at a naked belly while placing my order. The food is fine, but everything else is absolutely terrible. So, after four attempts, we're never coming back. Oh, and the music is terrible.

The food is good. However, as I've read here, the wait times for food are really bad. The service is also really good, but it was quite clear they were understaffed on this busy Saturday evening. Furthermore, the kitchen extractor fan isn't working properly, leaving all your clothes smelling awful after dinner.

If you're in Zeeland, you absolutely have to eat fish. And where better than at Zeeuwse Streken in Middelburg? Here you can literally taste the sea—without getting wet. We had made a reservation, but with a set time limit. A bit tight, then. Fortunately, the staff didn't think in minutes, but in possibilities. They cleverly considered our needs, shifted things around a bit, and ensured we could still enjoy a relaxed meal. That alone deserves a compliment. We started with a celebratory glass of bubbly (because why not?), and then decided to avoid the stress of making a choice: the three-course fish tasting. Best decision of the day. Each course was an ode to Zeeland—fresh, surprising, and simply excellent. As a bonus, we had two oysters with our starter. And in between: a cocktail called Het Zeeuwse meisje (The Zeeuwse Girl) with white vermouth. Smooth, elegant, and just what you want between courses. It gets busy on weekends, so booking is wise. But trust me—it's worth it. Zeeuwse Streken is not a restaurant, it is a short journey through the Zeeland coast, packed in three courses and a smile.

Great bar, the waiters and waitresses are very welcoming and helpful. We were there with friends last night for a drink and the atmosphere is so nice that we regret not having discovered this bar restaurant sooner!

We had a fantastic meal with a group of 10 hungry men. A delicious sharing menu, from cockles to razor clams and from lobster to sea bass. A delicious pan of mussels was also served with great hospitality. Good wines. And all for a perfect price. Highly recommended!

The fish dishes were excellent. Friendly service. Flexibility to accommodate special requests. Regional dishes. Unfortunately, the vegetarian options are very limited (no choice).

Perhaps I went there with too high expectations. The fish was mediocre (overcooked and therefore mushy), and the sea vegetables served weren't cooked as advertised on the menu, but raw and placed on a well-cooked scoop of quinoa. It was truly unappetizing. I'm not one to quickly raise a complaint in a restaurant, but I did mention it. Nothing was done about it.

Poor service. Fish soup without fish 🦞 2 mussels and 2 claws. It took over an hour for the food to arrive, and when we mentioned this first to the waiter and then to a higher-ranking person, we were told that olives were also a course. On top of that, I was laughed at in my face. No compensation, nothing.

Disappointing lunch experience Had lunch in Middelburg today, but this restaurant was unfortunately a disappointment. The wait times were excessively long. While I have respect for the woman serving alone – she clearly did her very best – it's simply unacceptable that the organization handled it so poorly. The shrimp croquettes were still decent, but the sole were fried far too dry and therefore unappetizing. When asked if we were satisfied, we honestly stated that the main course wasn't up to par. The answer that this would be "reported" sounded more like a standard response than genuine concern. As expected, nothing further was done about it. Middelburg is a beautiful city and definitely worth a visit, but there are plenty of better and more hospitable restaurants around. This restaurant demonstrates how missed opportunities and a lack of attention to quality can completely ruin a visit. It's a shame – we expected much more.

I arrived with high expectations but was disappointed. A long wait for the appetizers (which had run out by then). The mussel bite had a piece of shell in it... the catfish was okay, but I didn't understand the vegetables and sauce that came with it.

We had a very pleasant time at this restaurant. The food was very good, the service was very good (although a bit slow). We were able to bring our little dog, which was very nice. The atmosphere is calm and cozy, and we could hear ourselves speak perfectly. We highly recommend it.

Ate delicious oysters and mussels

I was particularly impressed by the food: The fresh mussels were delicious and perfectly prepared – aromatic, juicy, and cooked to perfection. For my main course, I had an entrecôte that was as tender as butter and presented with great care. You can immediately tell that the food is prepared with fresh ingredients and a lot of passion. Sometimes you're unlucky. This time, when I visited Zeeuwse Streken (Zeeland Streken). I'm a fish soup lover. However, this one was moderately to poorly filled and had too strong a flavor. In short, not good enough. But the worst part was the plaice. Less than 140 grams with skin and bones. Not even a tablespoon of fish. The Hollandaise sauce was many times larger than the plaice in terms of surface area on your plate. I reported this, and they agreed; they would serve two plaice from now on. No price reduction. We did get a free tea or coffee. My partner enjoyed the meal.

Unfortunately, a much worse experience than in previous years. Smaller portions, far from enough to eat. A hefty extra charge applies for each side dish. No bread with any dish, no regular portion of bread on the menu. We were forced to order bread and dips (approximately €60). We used to recommend the restaurant to friends, but now I'd look for another place.

I had the seashell pasta. Fantastic! Reasonably priced. I got a lot of shells, the cockles were especially delicious. The tiramisu babbler dessert was good, but I didn't expect it to have a coffee flavor (not a bad thing to say, just so you know). I had the stir-fried sea vegetables as a starter, which was sea aster. The raspberry soda was also very tasty. 10/10.

We ate outside. Looks cozy. Service is friendly. Menu very promising. With starters you have to ask for bread and sauce that go with the sardines. North Sea tasting is very little for the price. Also no explanation what you get. But good that we ordered fries right away. Only they didn't come and we had to ask again. That took quite a long time and was also a meager container. Fruit de mer was nice. Quite a lot of money all and not a full meal.

What a beautiful restaurant and what an ambiance. We were sitting on the terrace but during a toilet stop, I quickly peeked. Ate yesterday and enjoyed it!! Recommended by a Landgraafse (South Limburg) who lived in Middelburg for years. Chose the 'Shared menu special, 2 courses, 2 people'. Now 'we' have asparagus and kowsjottel. Fish on the other hand, especially fresh, is a whole different chapter. Food was excellent!! Service Cas, at least that was on his sleeve, excellent. In principle a 10! Small downside, time between the two courses. Second course came a bit too quickly. Wanted to digest and prepare for the second course. Therefore only a 9.9. Must be strict as a former teacher! Wat lang moeten wachten,voor ons geen probleem wij zijn in vakantie maar anderen rondom ons vonden het niet kunnen. Zeewier kroket was best ok. Vissoep was wat zout. Mosselen waren ok. Zeevruchten salade de krab was nog net goed. Gepelde groenten erbij een rare combo, maar misschien iets typisch Zeeuws. Bediening ok.

It was our first time in the city and we discovered this restaurant via Google Maps – a real stroke of luck! Even though there were five of us, we still managed to get a seat without a reservation (although we still recommend making a reservation in advance). We had the dish of the day, which was perfectly prepared and tasted excellent. We particularly loved the light coconut sauce with the fish – a great combination! For starters, we had cheese sticks, oysters, and bitterballen – all freshly prepared and prepared with lots of love. What stood out in particular: All the sauces were homemade – that's certainly not a given in the Netherlands and deserves a lot of praise! We dined here with an international group of 26 people. Had a good consultation with Cas about menu options and the place of our group in the restaurant. On the evening itself, people could choose from 3 starters, 4 main courses and 3 desserts. Upon arrival, we were immediately given bread with spreads, nuts and olives. The wines were very good. It was very busy that evening. Although our table was well served, I heard from another table that they regularly went without a drink, which is a pity. I had a direct view of the kitchen and saw that the entrecotes were freshly cut and they were also very tasty, I heard from the guests. The food was of excellent quality and sufficient. Good address with a relaxed atmosphere.

A very cozy place for sure, mussels (local) were super tasty, it has the taste for the freshness and yet flavoured. And oysters (chef choice) were super tasty too, I personally think the cheese flavour somehow took over a bit, but the original flavour and with tomatoes were definitely a 5-star dish. From experience: half lobster doesn’t keep you full. It’s also pet-friendly!

I had a reservation for one on a Saturday night at 1900. The couple in front of me did not have a reservation and were offered a place on the Terrace, As a single diner I was taken through to another room where there was one other dinner and given a small table at the back. I did ask why I had been allocated this table (inside there were plenty of other tables) but didn’t get far. Later on I was told there was now a Terrace table available. That wasn’t really the point. Single diners shouldn’t be allocated to the Siberia of the room. Photo attached. The starter, Shrimp was pretty good and a fair sized portion. No issues with that. The main - North Sea Fish(es) was very hot on the top surface and therefore while eating it the fish became dry. They said they would mention it to the kitchen. The dish had taken a while to come out, perhaps it had been held somewhere under heat awaiting delivery to the table? A decent range of five different fishes and normally it might have been an excellent choice. Finally the credit card reader wouldn’t work with my Iphone, which I have been using continually on my trip without issue. The owner who got involved asked me if it was a Bank of America card. It wasn’t and to me it didn’t look like a card issue - rather that the reader (or the phone) weren’t connecting to each other. When I told him that it wasn’t a BofA card his response was that it may be a card they don’t take. I had tried both a Visa and a Mastercard. They were both non-Dutch cards, Therefore I paid cash. Obviously it’s not possible to identify if it was their reader or my phone that was the issue.

Staff work hard but have little time for personal attention, had to wait a very long time for dessert, which was also disappointing. Dover sole could also have been passed off as slip sole and was far too hard-fried and had little taste. The decor of the place was very nice, but we came for the delicious food and unfortunately we missed that plus some personal attention from the service.

Service was superb! The lobster and prawns were delicious. I recommend the tiramisu infused with the famous local treat babbelaar (instead of amaretto) for dessert and the local cognac as well!

Let's start with the fact that we had reservations for five people, but we were seated at a table for four. Maybe they thought we were some kind of human puzzle that needed to be pieced together? It was a challenge, that's for sure. After waiting an hour and a half for our main course, we began to wonder if perhaps we had stepped into a time machine and traveled to an era without food. We asked several times where our food was, and were given the excuse that there were more than 100 guests. Ah, so that's the secret of the catering industry: when you're busy, you can simply forget that you even have guests. Genius! When our main course finally arrived, one of us was left without cutlery. Apparently it was a new trend: "Eating with your hands, it's the latest craze!" And fish cutlery? Apparently that was a luxury we couldn't afford. Oh, and the fries that we ordered separately? They were still on holiday, probably in a faraway country where they did not want to be disturbed. The sole served was so small that I wondered if it was a baby fish. Unfortunately I didn't have a scale with me to verify it, but I'm pretty sure it didn't even hit 250 grams. For those prices, I would have expected it to come with at least a vegetable or potato side dish. But no, that would be too much to ask. And then the children's menu: apple sauce without a spoon. Perfect! Because what could be more fun for a child than trying to eat applesauce with his hands while having to wait two hours for his meal? Now that's a lesson in patience! We didn't dare take the risk of ordering dessert, afraid that we would spend the rest of the evening there waiting for a chocolate mousse. The table next to us received their dishes on time, complete with explanations. Maybe they had a VIP pass or something? After paying the bill, we left the restaurant feeling grumbling. The chef came to wish us a pleasant evening in a raised voice, which made us wonder if he didn't notice our sarcasm. No apologies for the delay or chaos, just a "nice evening" as if we had just had a great experience. All in all, this restaurant is a ballpark and definitely not worth visiting again. But hey, if you're ever in the mood for an evening of waiting and frustration, you know where to go! Bon appétit! 🍽️
