Really creative and unique dishes, with such interesting and layered flavors. Everything was delicious!

What an exceptional two-hour dining experience. We went with the tasting menu plus their specialty - the beetroot. All had great, and sometimes unexpected flavors. The service from start to finish was impeccable. It was spouse's birthday and they had a birthday card at the table. I went with the vegetarian tasting menu and my spouse with the table tasting menu. We appreciated the explanation with each course. It was an excellent dining experience.

Delicious food, great service and atmosphere.

We celebrated here our anniversary and it was fantastic. Food is very delicious and beautiful, we also appreciated they have vegetarian options. Waiters are very polite, feels high quality service. We liked they change us a table to the one next to the window. We would definitely come back!

If you want to enjoy yourself intensely, you need to take your time when dining here; two hours is simply not enough. We had a wonderful time for 4.5 hours, enjoying many small dishes and the wine pairing. A fantastic sommelier who knew what he was pouring and provided excellent explanations. The dishes were unique and delicious. Exceptional craftsmanship.

It was a wonderful restaurant. From the amuse-bouche to the dessert, everything was creative cuisine, and you could really see why it's a Michelin one-star restaurant.

Located in a wing of the Rijksmuseum. Attractive lunch spot. Delicious food, but the price-quality ratio is slightly out of balance. Unfortunately, only bottled beer, no draft. Exceptionally friendly and hospitable service, but some only speak English. In short: recommended, but room for improvement.

We had dinner here to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, which also happened to be my husband's birthday. We emailed the restaurant a full day in advance to let them know about both occasions and specifically asked if a candle could be lit on his dessert. Unfortunately, we never received a reply to that email, and when we arrived, there was no acknowledgment of either occasion at all — no candle, not even a verbal mention. For a restaurant at this level, in such a special setting inside the Rijksmuseum, this was a disappointing gap in an otherwise [memorable / lovely] evening. A small gesture like this means a lot on a day like that, and it's a shame it was overlooked despite advance notice.

Had the prix fixe menu for lunch today. The green gazpacho was excellent and beautifully plated. The apricot dessert was also very good. Service was excellent. The server gave me tastings of several non alcoholic options to help me choose something. An especially nice rest while enjoying the Rijksmuseum.

Had a delicious meal for my birthday. Our 1-year-old daughter was also welcome and behaved impeccably. Super friendly staff and the courses were top-notch. At the end, we even received dessert wine on the house!

We’ve been looking forward to Rijks experience for a long time, and still we were surprised in the best possible way on all fronts. We love the focus on humble ingredients and their elevation in amazingly fresh and flavourful dishes. Compared to other 1 and 2 star restaurants, Rijks is above many of them in both innovation and quality. Moreover, the wine pairing was superb and we believe the sommelier is one of the best in Europe altogether, in both the classic and the premium pairing. Also big thanks to restaurant staff for being on point, attentive and making us feel welcome. If we find ourselves in Amsterdam in the coming years, we will definitely revisit.

Amazing place to have lunch while visiting the area and one of the many museums nearby. The service was impeccable with delicious cocktails. The rabbit was the star of the show.

A perfect compliment to the museum. The food surpasses anything I've had at any museum. It's a true 5 star dining experience. Service with smiles, and the pricing was competitive with similar quality back home, without being located in the premier Dutch art museum! Reservations are a must! Start heading out to your reserved time at least 20 minutes early as you will need to get a re-entry pass and find your way out of the museum. The restaurant does not have an interior connection to the museum. You have to exit, head towards the park, and look for it on the right. It's just a small gate. Not obvious.

The food was sublime, especially the signature dish; the beetroot was insanely tasty. It was a scorching hot evening, so we sat outside. No lighting, no cozy atmosphere. Plenty of staff, but no real personal attention or service. For a restaurant of this price level and with this appearance, I didn't find paper towels in a dirty toilet worthy of a star. Such a busy, touristy location probably has everything to do with that, too.

If you are visiting Rijksmuseum, highly recommend a lunch reservation at Rijks. The museum reception will issue a reentry ticket to skip the queue if going back after lunch. Be sure to order the beetroot mille-feuille, quite possible the best I had. Service by our Italian server was wonderful, but two incidents marred our experience. 1. When we arrived at 12:30pm, we were shown to a table right at the entrance when the restaurant had plenty of tables further in the shade. I had to insist on a table further in. When we left, that table offered initially was in the sun, which would have made for an unpleasant lunch, especially when there are still shaded tables available. 2. We were overcharged for the 3 course set lunch(€70 instead of €55) and had to go out of our way to return to the restaurant later to receive a cash refund.

I had a delicious salad and a cup of coffee here in the middle of my visit of the Rijksmuseum. Ordering is very convenient, you scan the QR code on your table, place the order through the platform and they bring everything directly to you. I really liked how simple and efficient it was. One thing to keep in mind is that before 11 a.m. you can only order from the breakfast menu, not the regular food menu.

We went to celebrate an anniversary last year thanks to the Amex Platinium card benefit. This is a long time pending review that I had to write! I was at Rijks for the mother's day lunch with my mom who was visiting me from India. It was a wonderful afternoon that we spent. We were very well taken care of by the staff, they explained everything to us very well. All the courses were delicious, and the wine that was paired with the courses was also top notch. My personal favorite was the beetroot millefeuille. We had initially reserved another restaurant but our reservation got moved to Rijks. Because of this, we were given free champagne, aperitif and the wine pairing. What we really loved is the warm hospitable staff that we had, they regularly checked on us, their smiles were great. I will definitely be back here again and have recommended it to a lot of friends! Thanks for giving us a very memorable mother's day experience!

Good experience. I found it to be a worthwhile place for the price, especially considering the level of cuisine, the ingredients, and the service. The focus on local, high-quality produce is evident, with well-prepared dishes. The service was excellent.

Imaginative dishes, elegantly presented

Visited Rijks when Chef Sachin Poojary from INDDEE was the guest celebrity chef, and it was an unforgettable experience. The tasting menu beautifully combined the bold flavors of Indian cuisine with the elegance and precision of Dutch Michelin-starred dining. Every course was creative, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The staff were warm, attentive, and took the time to explain each dish in detail, making the experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance was elegant yet relaxed, making it the perfect setting for a special evening. A truly unique collaboration and a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended!

The food is delicious, especially the coffee and desserts. The pastries are the best thing about this restaurant. It has a Michelin star. The prices are a bit above average, but not bad. The staff is very friendly and the location is great.

It was a wonderful experience! It all started right from the moment we made our booking. We booked at very short notice with a very friendly member of staff (just half an hour beforehand!) and, after a lovely welcome, were given a beautiful table on the terrace overlooking the Rijksmuseum and the pretty herb garden. We chose our dinner à la carte and were given perfect and very charming advice on wine selection by Rodrigo. All the dishes were artfully presented and tasted absolutely sensational! Particular mention must be made of the outstanding signature dish, the beetroot mille-feuille. The absolute highlight was the sweetbread with peanut sauce: a composition of many flavours, without, however, overpowering the delicate taste of the sweetbread. Hats off to the team in the kitchen. A heartfelt compliment also goes to the service team: a young, dedicated team who looked after us attentively and very warmly throughout the evening. A perfect summer’s dinner of the highest quality in every respect. We’re already looking forward to our next visit to this enchanting place.

Outstanding. We came for the pre-theatre menu and the quality of the food is faultless. Excellent value for money and just good quality cooking not overdone with excessive flavour/theatre. Highly recommend and well deserved of its Michelin star!

The lunch tasting includes three very special dishes: reinterpretations of traditional dishes with carefully selected ingredients, allowing you to savor every nuance and satisfying the palate, nose, and stomach. The drinks are also very refined. The service is impeccable, with a special mention for Gaia.

Unfortunately, a Michelin star does not guarantee Michelin-worthy service!! For my mother's birthday, we had reserved lunch at Rijks with a party of twenty people during the special INDDEE collaboration with a renowned Indian chef. It was supposed to be a special and festive afternoon, but unfortunately, it was the disorganized organization and lack of hospitality that stuck with us most. Although the food itself was good, the organization throughout the entire lunch was remarkably disorganized. Courses were served without any introduction, whereas at a restaurant of this level, one should expect some explanation of the dishes and the concept. As a result, a large part of the experience was lost. Additionally, we constantly felt that there was little attention paid to us as guests. The service felt rushed and impersonal, making us feel anything but welcome. This stands in stark contrast to the experience we normally have at restaurants in this price range. The biggest disappointment came with the bill. A coffee package was charged for the entire table, while ultimately only four of the twenty guests actually received coffee. Such mistakes simply should not occur at a restaurant of this caliber. It is especially unfortunate because this was a special occasion. We had hoped for a memorable lunch, but instead, what stuck with us most was the disorganized organization and the lack of hospitality. The food was good, but a restaurant visit is about more than just the dishes. Unfortunately, this experience has left a bitter taste. Based on this afternoon, I therefore cannot recommend Rijks.

Everything that's wrong with Michelin star restaurants….. If I leave a restaurant and never want to eat any of the dishes again, then it's a terrible restaurant. I don't care if it has a Michelin star or not.

Everything is there: the taste, the subtlety. The elegance of the setting! A delicious lunch, I recommend it a thousand times over.

The food was good, with a nice wine pairing. However, some of the wine choices were simply not compatible with the heat of summer in Amsterdam. Also, the service was sometimes a bit rude from the waitress. We'd be constantly interrupted by her in an abrupt way, and she was not friendly. Anyway, nice experience, but I wouldn't return.

Excellent restaurant, from the signature red beet millefeuille to the seasonally changing menu. Lots of local or Dutch produce used. Very relaxed atmosphere for a Michelin star restaurant. Excellent service. For its class great value for money.

A truly exceptional restaurant. We treated ourselves to a set menu for a birthday dinner and were very impressed with both the service and the food. We will remember this restaurant fondly and would definitely recommend it.

After the last less-than-stellar experience, I had hoped that today would be better. To be honest, there are still problems with the service. Far too many people are interfering with a single table (7!), causing things to go wrong due to a lack of communication (logical with this ridiculous, labor-intensive system). Staff are very pushy when it comes to extra dishes or water. Due to the bizarre number of staff, it is very chaotic both throughout the entire establishment and at one's own table. The bill was drawn up incorrectly, and the toilet was extremely dirty. In short, the food was okay, but the ambiance was certainly unworthy of a star, and this was therefore not an isolated incident. The first high-quality years following the opening in 2014 under the management of Loek Beeren are definitely history! Quite a shame.

The food was delicious; being able to eat local fresh ingredients is the highlight of my trip.

We were absolutely in awe of the food at Rijks this Friday. To mention just two amazing dishes: The asparagus with seafood was to die for and of the charts good, if not spectacular, one of those creations that should be on the menu for a long time as a Rijks classic. And the second dish was rabbit. I’ll confess right away, I am not necessarily a fan of rabbit, but this rabbit course was a whole different story. It was just so so good. With these, Rijks demonstrates it is in the top of Amsterdam dining and a true favorite of us. But, and I by no means do Rijks justice here but in an attempt to describe my slight reservation (with apologies for the somewhat outrageous statements): The overall dining experience still and again feels somewhat like an upscale food hall. A bit like Eataly in New York or London, but than on steroids of course. Truly exceptional dishes paired with service by an equipe of wonderful individuals, attentive, and highly professional, but at times one feels like being, well….. just in an upscale foodhall. With moments of being on your own, if anything. That observation aside, the food is what remains with you and it was world class. As said, several dishes were just unforgettable, and those moments alone made this once again a wonderful experience. We simply love this place and will happily return.

Our family went here for lunch. The menu here changes quite a bit, so your mileage may vary. After reading some reviews, I was a bit nervous about the service. Our server could not have been better. We ordered a la carte, one three course tasting, and two six course tastings. He absolutely nailed the timing of the courses for the four of us, the timing of the wine (not to mention the recommendations for the pairings), and helping us navigate the menu initially. We agreed that this was one of the best meals we've ever had. While most tasting menus not every course will be to your liking, that was NOT the case here. Every course was outstanding and extremely creative. Just wow. Highly recommended.

My mother and I dined here during our visit to Amsterdam. I had the tasting menu, while my mother ordered the goat dish from the à la carte menu. Unfortunately, the following morning my mother became seriously ill with severe stomach pain and diarrhea and even fainted. The goat dish was the only item she consumed that I did not. While we cannot say with certainty what caused her illness, we felt it was important to notify the restaurant. What was particularly disappointing was that we emailed the restaurant to inform them of the situation and received no response whatsoever. Even a simple acknowledgement or expression of concern would have been appreciated. The food itself was enjoyable at the time, but the lack of customer care after reporting a serious health concern has left us very disappointed.

A Gem! Delicious food beautifully presented with a focus on superb flavours…. Had a spectacular lunch there and was back the next night for an equally superb meal!

We had a delicious meal for two, but upon returning home, we noticed that we were charged for the second bottle of water—which was quickly placed on the table with dessert (without us having asked for it)—twice the water service charge. Apparently per bottle and not per evening… I already thought it was strange that she went ahead and refilled our glasses from the almost full bottle after we had asked for the bill… Moreover, it was still water, which we don't like drinking at all and so left untouched. The 2x water service charge for sparkling water had already been added to the bill as well. On the total bill it might not be much, but 20 euros for a bottle of water with dinner, and the way it was handled, I just don't think is fair. It's a shame we didn't notice it before paying…

Food craft matching the great masters in the museum! Great place to stop by for lunch after the museums’ visits.

An atmospheric, stylish, and subtly chic restaurant in a fantastic location within a historic building belonging to the Rijksmuseum. The lunch menu was of a creative class that represents Dutch cuisine at the international top. The service has the right sense of timing, and the explanations regarding the menu and dishes add to the experience. The wine list offers good choices in terms of quality and price. A perfect choice for a business or private meeting. You come here to talk and enjoy the food and the location.

This is a must-try culinary experience if you’re visiting Amsterdam. Located just 50 meters from the museum, this fine-dining restaurant offers a 3- or 4-course lunch menu at a very reasonable price (55 or 65 euros). All in all, in a sleek yet elegant setting, complemented by impeccable service, this restaurant offers refined, inventive, and delicious cuisine. Thank you to the entire team for the warm welcome—we’ll definitely be back!

Top restaurant. More than worthy of its star.

The food was great, creative and diverse. Service was not on par with such restaurants. The waiter would forget what we ordered (pairing, individual drinks, etc) and didn't know prices. After waiting a long time for a wine, he said the glass would be on the house - but we ended up paying it anyway. Also, the bill that came to us was the wrong one. Nice atmosphere otherwise :)

Had an amazing lunch here after visiting the museum. We took both the tasting menu and the lunch menu to share. The staff was kind to allow us to share the courses. The food is fantastic and would definitely be back whenever I’m in town.

Our experience at RIJKS was exceptional from the moment we arrived. We showed up about 45 minutes ahead of our reservation, fully expecting to wait—but the staff warmly welcomed us and seated us immediately without hesitation. That small gesture set the tone for the entire evening and made us feel genuinely valued as guests. We were dining with kids, and the restaurant was incredibly accommodating. They do offer a kids menu, and the staff went out of their way to make sure our little ones were comfortable and well taken care of, which made the experience even more enjoyable for us as a family. The service throughout the meal was attentive, professional, and sincere without ever feeling overbearing. Every staff member we interacted with was knowledgeable and eager to ensure we had a great experience. As for the food, it absolutely lived up to the reputation. Each dish was beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared, with flavors that felt both refined and especially the visual presentation. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the ingredients and the execution. Overall, RIJKS delivered not just a great meal, but a truly welcoming dining experience. The combination of excellent service, outstanding food, and the warm reception—especially accommodating our early arrival and our children—made it a memorable highlight of our trip. I see some reviews about the speed of service. Please note that’s just how European dining is - it take time to prepare the food and they do not rush you. If anyone feels they need to be rushed, please go to a fast food joint. I have been to 26 Michelin starred restaurants around the world and I feel some of the negative comments are not fair.

There is a quiet confidence in the cooking, where restraint seems just as important as creativity. The wine pairing deserves particular praise. Selections felt considered and occasionally surprising, yet always harmonious with the dishes. It elevates the menu without overshadowing it, which is exactly what you hope for at this level. What stands out most is the cohesion between kitchen and service. There is no unnecessary theatrics—just a well-executed concept delivered by a team that understands timing, balance, and hospitality. A refined, engaging experience that I would certainly recommend.

Great food, service, atmosphere and wine.

Beware the hidden prices! We saw the 55€ menu outside and when we were presented with the prix fix menu, I foolishly thought that's what we ordered. The server had presented us with a small, postcard sized menu with different prices - THREE TIMES MORE - in the corner in very small print. Worse, each course was worse than the previous. The tarragon broth was good, and the amuse bouche on a brussel sprout was, too. Then we got to the menu which was tasteless and twee. The asparagus was presented like a limp eel, and stringy when cut; the whitefish was bland; the ham was fatty. Even the chocolate truffle was tasteless but for the unsweetened cocoa dusting. I guess Michelin likes its food oh-so-precious. It was a $350+ USD mistake.

Is this maybe the most lackluster Michelin restaurant I been to? It committed the worst crime of being more pretty than tasty. Not sure if it’s more of a unique style of cooking but the food taste is very average. Was here with my friend and we can’t even find one course that delight us. It’s not bad, just not Michelin

The presentation was exquisite. The service was fantastic and the meal was absolutely delicious.

Exploring both Rijks Garden & Rijks Table revealed a well calibrated duality. From the Garden, Fruits de terre unfolded with layered depth black truffle, salsify & Cévenne onion working in quiet harmony while Secreto Ibérico introduced a sharper more structured profile through its juniper jus. From the Table, the millefeuille of beetroot delivered clarity & precision in composition & the beef cheek anchored the journey with slow built richness & undeniable depth. Modern comfort is paired with hospitality that feels intuitive, polished & confidently understated. Clarity, control & contrast brought together with purpose & restraint.

The beetroot carpaccio is an extra charge on top of the fixed menu, but this isn’t clearly communicated when they ask for your preferences. The same lack of transparency applies to the wine—there’s a range of options, but pricing is never mentioned upfront, and you only see it on the final bill. Unlike in the US, where you typically select from a menu and know exactly what you’re paying, this felt unclear and uncomfortable. The wine service was also disappointing—they only offered already opened bottles instead of presenting the full selection. I was given two open bottles to try and felt pressured to choose from those rather than explore other options. Service overall was slow and not very attentive, and the staff didn’t seem fully knowledgeable about the ingredients in the dish.

I can't believe anyone would have complaints about this restaurant. What an amazing dining experience. Servers were friendly and quick. The lunch preset meal was robust in flavor with incredible textures. I loved the bite sized snacks with edible flowers and the citrus salad. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming. I'd love to come back just to hangout for coffee or cocktails.

A gem in the world of restaurants, an impressive meal in a pleasant atmosphere. Just a few minor drawbacks, such as the 2.5-hour wait for a meal; one should take their time, but not that long. The appetizers are the restaurant's weak point, but the rest of the meal, and especially the presentation of the dishes, are their strong points. A huge thank you 🙏🏻 to the waitress and the sous-chef who gave me a very warm welcome that day at the kitchen counter for my lunch.

My boyfriend and I booked for Valentine's Day and had a wonderful evening. The food was fantastic; we're especially still savoring the delicious citrus salad. My boyfriend was a bit unlucky with the meat in his main course (which can happen), but they more than made up for it by offering us a house cheese platter alongside our dessert. The service was phenomenal. Katie spent the entire evening sharing her stories about the wines and dishes. Thanks to her, we even got a table at the bar near the kitchen. They even took Polaroid photos of us, which were later given to us in a little folder, and we both received a rose at the end of the evening. The entire staff was wonderful. They paid attention to every detail. Truly a service that many businesses could learn from. A huge thank you to the entire team for giving us such a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner.

If I had to mention anything, perhaps a few small details in the interior could be refined to elevate the overall experience even further — though there was nothing specific to criticize. The pricing felt fair considering the quality we received. When the food, service, and atmosphere all come together like this, you truly feel that you are getting excellent value for your money. Walked in without reservation and was greeted by very friendly staff. The beetroot mille feuille had us skeptical at first from it's description on the menu, but was definitely the highlight of the meal; the beurre blanc sauce was delicious.

Had a great day at museum and here for lunch. It was Valentines by chance and there was a special menu. All dishes were very nice, unusual and well-presented. All staff members were knowlegeable and attentive. Nice touch as we left - photo & flower. Dropping a star for service simply as we have a fave fine dining resto in Leiden, which has no star but manages to pull off the service in an extremely personal way and that is what we have come to expect. Such experiences we only do once every few years. For tables for two, we found them too close together also. We have lived in France for many years and even at your regular Menu du Midi / Soir street corner style bistrot you get more space. In short, highly recommend you go, we thoroughly enjoyed our whole Rijks Museum-Resto-Museum day, but we would unlikely return. Foodwise the broth on arrival was a fabulous idea for a cold day!

Honestly, all the dishes served were more than worth photographing. But unfortunately, I only had this inspiration with the coffee and friandises. It was fantastic, again.

I don't normally write reviews, but after our dinner at Rijks Restaurant, I wanted to share our experience. We were there on Saturday, January 24th, with a group of friends and, partly due to the Michelin star, had high expectations. Unfortunately, the evening didn't live up to those expectations. The service felt rushed, especially at the beginning, and throughout the evening, our table wasn't attended to properly. We also had to wait a noticeably long time for our drinks orders, which doesn't match the standard of service you'd expect here. Furthermore, it was noticeable that small details were overlooked. For example, a dropped knife, which had been visibly placed at the end of the table, remained there for the rest of the evening. Such details don't contribute to a refined dining experience. The food itself partly evoked the feel of a Michelin-star restaurant, particularly due to the smaller portions and the explanations accompanying the dishes. At the same time, the explanations weren't always easy to understand, which also undermined this aspect. Overall, the evening unfortunately didn't feel like a Michelin-star experience.

We had a fantastic six-course meal, and the sommelier was a very friendly young man with a very enthusiastic and engaging style. The wine and food paired beautifully, and the ambiance was superb. If there was one complaint, it would be that it was a hefty price for two people, but hey... what's cheap these days? And you're willing to pay for good food, good wine, and good service!

For the past six years, we've often reminisced about our experience at this restaurant; the service, ambiance, and food surpassed the standards of a Michelin one-star restaurant, especially when compared to restaurants in New York.

The restaurant is located near the iconic museum and offer an awesome menu (with a vegetarian course option). I found in Rijks a very high quality standard not only in the dishes but also in the presentation and staff service. It was an amazing experience and some of the plates will remain in my memory since the were so good.

Everything here is absolutely perfect. From the moment we walked in to the last dish, it was a pure pleasure. A lovely ambiance, a quiet yet cozy atmosphere, and high-quality dishes. You can taste the care and attention they put into the quality ingredients. The service was excellent: fast, friendly, and with an eye for detail. Highly recommended.

Rijks was a pleasant surprise for us, the food was a good combination of flavors of land and sea, including the amazing millefeuille of beets and a great wine recommendation of the sommelier. We did the à la carte menu, and with 2-3 plates per person + snacks we were in a good shape. We combined this visit with a museum afternoon so everything conveniently located to end up the evening in a good point!

My husband and I went here for lunch during a day at the Rijksmuseum. They were serving a special prix fix for the December holidays. The food was inventive and delicious, especially the mushroom panna cotta. I want to give a special thank you to the sommelier/drinks specialist who made a unique cocktail for my husband. The only thing to note is some confusion between the museum and the restaurant. Currently, you have to completely exit the museum to get to the restaurant and we had to “explain ourselves” to re-enter the museum after eating. I think this process could be refined or clarified.

A Michelin-starred restaurant on Museumplein, the epicenter of Dutch art and the city's tourist hotspot. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical. When I saw the menu, I wasn't exactly thrilled. But I turned out to be completely unwarranted. The food is truly surprising and top-quality. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but you get what many Amsterdam establishments don't offer: sublime service.

We had Christmas lunch at Rijks, but almost all the dishes were tasteless or bland. The service was very friendly and professional, but the dishes were unimaginative and lacking in flavor. Not worth it at these prices, and the Michelin star is a mystery to me. The wine list is beautiful and luxurious, but it's no longer appropriate for this level of cuisine. It would be a shame to order a Clos de La Roche Grand Cru if the food wasn't up to par.

Had a wonderful Christmas Eve! Great service. The food could have been a bit more flavorful, but the combinations were exciting and surprising.
