The decor isn't necessarily the most elegant, but the cuisine and concept are remarkable. I really enjoyed myself.

Disgusting – sickened by their food, terrible service, outrageous "compensation" I briefly ate at Ron Gastrobar Indonesia in Ouderkerk on Saturday afternoon. I was out again within half an hour, having paid €130 for some oysters and chicken tacos. A few hours later, the misery began: extremely nauseous, hunched over the toilet, and literally puking until 4:15 in the morning. Turned out to be norovirus due to shellfish poisoning. Plans for the evening and the next day completely ruined. I've never gotten sick from oysters in my life – this was truly serious. I'd never experienced anything like it. I called immediately on Sunday: only a weak "sorry" and the promise that the manager would call back on Monday. I finally spoke to Kim on Monday, who was shocked (rightly so) and promised to provide appropriate compensation that same day or Tuesday at the latest. Tuesday? Nothing. Wednesday? Nothing. I called on Thursday: again just an empty promise. I had to call again on Friday – Kim again. She bluntly asked for my email address again (which I'd already given her four days earlier). Then finally, "compensation": a voucher for an aperitif and a snack. After €130 and severe food poisoning? Seriously? When I called to complain, it turned out the voucher was only worth €30-40. And then Kim literally said, "I got sick from an oyster once and didn't report it." So this is Ron Gastrobar's policy? Making people sick, brushing everything off with some vague excuses, and then offering a paltry drink and snack as compensation? Disgusting. Unprofessional. Disrespectful. You pay for "luxury" and get spoiled food, a ruined night, and zero real responsibility. You wouldn't expect this kind of behavior from a snack bar, let alone a so-called top restaurant. NEVER come back here again—and I advise everyone to do the same.

Edit 24 hours later: ----- Although we had a truly delicious meal, almost our entire party of six has had stomach and intestinal problems for the past 24 hours. We're all still alive, but it's annoying. ---- We had a wonderful meal! The service was very friendly this evening, and they also thoughtfully got something for my grandparents when they heard they were celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary. Sometimes it's the little things that make the difference.

Where to start. The staff explain the dishes in great detail but somehow forget to mention that the entree dishes are not part of the menu , no disclaimer at all. Rice table dishes are small and are just OK. We booked a rice table of 46 euro p.p. and got presented with a bill of 64.50 per person. Very unpleasant experience with a rude head waiter. Does not compare to an Indonesian experience, stay away

Really great Indonesian food at a beautifully decorated restaurant! Taste of most items was exceptional. I would say it's worth the commute from Amsterdam out to this spot. Really nice to go with out-of-towners or for a special occasion.

new menu can not charm us. it seems french/european dishes with indonesian names, no or little indonesian flavors. too bad.

The Indonesian rice table was very tasty and good to eat with 2. Especially the saté ajam was great. The only disadvantage was the location of the table at the entrance to the toilet

Hele fijne tent. Groot, erg goed personeel, typische Indonesische gerechten mooi opgemaakt en smaakvol. Betaald parkeren op 300 m. Bij goed weer, kun je ook buiten zitten. Redelijk geprijsd en aanrader om bijvoorbeeld naartoe te gaan voordat je naar een wedstrijd in de arena gaat, of een concert reserveren dan wel erg handig, want je bent niet de enige.

Last Saturday we treated ourselves to a real rijsttafel. Where else can you do that better in the Amsterdam region than here on the Amstel. The beautiful route there, by bike, descending from the south along the water and villas to then drop down on the comfortable chairs at the heavenly terraces near the village center of Ouderkerk (in good weather a piece of fabric between the chair and upper legs to prevent a wicker print in your skin afterwards) in Ron's front garden. We have often eaten à la carte here, but on Saturday there was simply nothing better than the rijsttafel. It's also so easy if you don't want to choose between all those delicious things. In no time at all, one of the enthusiastic waiters brought us our table full of bowls with so many delicious things in it that it's hard to choose what to start with. Fortunately, there was the tip from the waiter; start with the goat satay, they cool down the fastest. And lo and behold, I could no longer remember ever having tasted such delicious satay anywhere else than in Singapore at my sister Annabelle's. So just go, to this place. Everything is right.

There was no apology, no explanation, no willingness to take any responsibility. Even worse, the attitude of all the staff we interacted with was cold, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. We would have understood if they had handled it with some respect or courtesy—but they made it feel like it was our fault. Terrible service and attitude. Absolutely not recommended. A spectacular experience at Ron Gastrobar Indonesia. The street food starters were simply delicious, full of flavor, and perfectly presented. We especially want to highlight the service from waiter Aadit, who was exceptional: he explained each dish in detail, always with a smile and a warm, professional attitude. Thanks to his attention, we enjoyed the experience even more. We will definitely return!

When it is busy, the wait is very long and there is little visible staff. This makes the atmosphere less relaxed. Food in terms of taste is great.

Het eten en de bediening waren voorheen stukken beter. Het eten was flauw, vlak. Sate kambing niet gaar, niets was ook maar een beetje pittig (met uitzondering van de rekening). Al met al net iets om voor terug te komen.

Found the Indonesian rice table Agus disappointing. Tastes differ of course but found it too westernized in taste had expected more spice. Service was top sufficient attention and attentiveness atmosphere is okay maybe just one table too many which makes it very busy

Lovely sitting on the terrace. Expected a bit more from the oysters but it was fine. The fois gras was also tasty. Only important that they use clean fat for the fried paratha. Bottle of Lusco/Albarinho was also delicious

The two of us had a wonderful meal. After a delicious starter (try those croquettes!) the rice table was served. 15 delicious and tasteful dishes came out of the kitchen and were brought to the table by skilled and enthusiastic staff. Wat een aangename verrassing. Ik zou zelf niet zo snel Indonesisch uit eten gaan en "moest"mee omdat Iemand anders voor ons (vieren) had gereserveerd. Leuke ontvangst, top dat er rekening werd gehouden met onze dieetwensen / allergieen (vervangers bereid), gerechten geproefd/gegeten wat we normaliter niet aan zouden denken (geitenvlees ;) Met andere worden echt aangenaam verrast. Personeel super attent. Als de zon schijnt stel ik me voor dat het buiten aan het water gezellig lunch/dieren is. Als ik 1 minpunt mag geven dan is het de pui en tuin: kleine moeite om al het onkruid in de grote plantenbak bij de ingang te verwijderen. Oogt gewoon netter. Dito van de achtertuin. We zaten aan het raam dus dan kijk je letterlijk in de tuin. Maar daarvoor hoef je niet weg te blijven. We hebben met zn vieren onwijs genoten van de rijsttafel!

Indonesian dining at a beautiful location, looking forward to celebrating the birthday. However, far from expectations. Busy and noisy like a pub, dominant music. Hyperactive staff running around to get things done. Far too little attention for guests and the food. A mediocre experience. While that could have been so good at a lunch in Laren. We enjoyed the dessert and the coffee with liqueur experience elsewhere.

Very tasty food, some dishes taste just like the food in Jakarta. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Nice place to celebrate something or go out for a long dinner I'm just not a fan of the automated phone assistant. When I call I want to speak to a person not AI.

they put a shrimp paste in their fried rice, which is horrible. especially when you are unaware of this. service is slow and price/quality is below par.

Good atmosphere, nice interior, good location. They have an excellent reputation which is reflected in the service, slightly snotty with some attitude. The desert Cendol was absolutely top class a 9+ !! The spring rolls and the rissoles were fine, special, tasty 7+ The satays (tried all 4) were unfortunately disappointing. A blob of sauce over it. Too little attention to the presentation and the taste was somewhat disappointing. A 6 1/2. Next time I'll go back to Blauw on the Amstelveenseweg.. Otherwise a sympathetic experience.

Sunny stop on the Amstel — with red carpet, without bite Spontaneously settled down at Ron Gastrobar Indonesia Ouderkerk — sun on the water, palm trees in sight, ordered an Aperol Spritz. Surprise: Gerard Joling celebrated his birthday there. Nice detail, but the service became visibly out of balance. Our little snack never came, and the hospitality felt temporarily lost. Beautiful setting, but this time more show than soul.

Eten was heerlijk, maar meer dan 1 uur wachten voor rijsttafel werd geserveerd.Al eerder bij gastrobar gegeten en toen was service beter dan vandaag.Wel werd er een gratis drankje aangeboden, toch was ik vandaag niet tevreden.Voorlopig even geen eten meer bij gastrobar in Ouderkerk.

We hebben daar verschillende keren heel lekker gegeten. Heb dan ook mijn indische oom van 85 weten over te halen om samen te gaan. Helaas was het een grote teleurstelling heel erg jammer!!

Very authentic Indonesian cuisine, a restaurant that is often full and requires reservations. The AGUS combo meal allows you to eat 15 combinations of main dishes, which is very convenient. Dishes such as satay and beef are very delicious. The service staff are also very enthusiastic.

Disappointing experience at Ron Gastrobar Indonesia Our 3rd - and also last - visit to Ron Gastrobar Indonesia to celebrate a birthday was unfortunately anything but what you would expect from a restaurant with a name and fame. It started with our first drink, which only arrived on the table after half an hour. We were then served the wrong drinks three times - it seemed as if the service didn't know what had been ordered at all. While waiting, three members of staff were literally standing on top of our plates, checking to see if anything could be taken from the table. Very uncomfortable and not hospitable at all. The starter took an hour to arrive and the main course only came after 1.5 hours. By the time we finished this (30 minutes later), we were told we couldn't order dessert or coffee anymore because "time was up". As if we were on a conveyor belt, while the entire pacing problem lay with the controls. The manager indicated that he had seen the food come out of the kitchen on time. We had to prove by showing photos that this was not the case. The manager had no choice but to agree with us... but could do nothing for us in this regard. In the end, three welcome drinks could be taken off the bill and we had to make do with that! For a restaurant of this caliber we expected at least decent service and a little understanding. We will never come back here again.

Had a delicious meal here with two colleagues in January 25. Very busy. Furthermore, I had a great time, so I went with my wife at the end of March. Once again delicious food, really great in our opinion. Very busy and we were very cramped between two larger groups. Another table was offered, but that was near the cloakroom and toilets, so we declined that offer. Friendly service. As a starter the black box (surprise of three dishes) and as a main course rice table Guillaume. Delicious, not really spicy. Dessert chocolate mousse and Indonesian tiramisu 😉. To enjoy the dessert a little more quietly, we were able to sit at another table for a while. Prices a bit above average, but we thought it was definitely worth it. We parked our car on the other side of the bridge outside the blue zone. A little further walk, but free and no time restrictions.

It has been a scandal of flavors It made me anxious to see so many delicious dishes passing by and to have the countdown to order and the fear of making a mistake. But I think you get all the dishes right. I was surprised by the dessert I couldn't take more photos due to anxiety caused by hunger.

Had dinner here with 4 people last Friday. What a party! Really delicious. Attractive decor, cozy and it was completely full. The staff is very service-oriented, friendly and professional. Where is your coat accepted and wine and water poured and refilled these days? Yes, really great. And the food is delicious. We don't eat pork and that was taken into account. Also good explanation of the dishes and indication whether it is spicy or not. In short, we had a wonderful evening!

Under the guise of 'We should try that' we had the rice table delivered for two people. The positive thing was that the quantity was sufficient. Furthermore, it tasted good, but had very little to do with Indonesian food. Ron probably couldn't find the packet of trassi and he let his imagination run wild. All dishes had to have 'toppings' and that ranged from three types of seroendeng (?) to chives; all things that you usually have in your home. It was also unknown that rendang has to be on the stove for quite a long time: simply not cooked. Anyway, 'We should try that' turned out to be 'Next time to Toko Madjoe!'

Delicious food in a beautiful restaurant. Very friendly and attentive service and the ambience is really great. It's a shame that I live a little further away, otherwise I would go there much more often. As far as I'm concerned, the portions could be a little bigger. First test of this restaurant. Very pricey. 10 satay sticks - 2 tea - 2 coffee - 2 cava for € 110. Not of particularly high quality as we are used to from Javanese cuisine in The Hague. But yes.... Close to Amsterdam so this is relatively normal in this area. Also surprising that you have to deposit €30 in advance for a reservation.

I think this is one of the best restaurants I have been to recently. Very pleasant and professional staff, very good atmosphere and delicious food, good flavor combinations per dish, surprising and good value for money ‼️I will definitely come back here 🎊

Het eten teleurstellend, niet de ambiance en vooral niet het personeel die goed en vriendelijk waren. Het eten viel tegen, Sate Kambing smaakte niet naar geit maar naar kip en de Soto soep was te waterig en te zout. Gebakken rijst was flauw.

This is a must try place when visiting Amsterdam! It's a bit out of the way from the main touristy spot but all the more reason to make a trip out of it. The choices that they offer would work best if you come with a group so you can try all kinds of items, but between the two of us, my wife and I shared a 12 bowl Rijsttafel combo was excellent. Great flavors, textures, variety. Gotta go!

Definitely worth all 5 stars for us! Nice cozy restaurant in a beautiful location. Really enjoyed an extensive Indonesian rice table, everything of which was delicious! The staff was very friendly and knew everything about their dishes, we were also very well helped in making the right choice and in all likelihood we were able to taste all the top dishes. For dessert I opted for the espresso martini, which was quite dangerous considering the fact that it left me wanting more! In short, we will definitely book a table again and my girlfriend will drive back home the next round. Of which deed.

What a delicious meal we had. From the reception to the end in one word, fantastic! We started with an aperitif, a delicious cocktail. Then the street food snacks surprise from the chef. The main course is the rice table. Delicious small and diverse dishes. We shared dessert because we were quite full. I read in the reviews that some thought the portions were too small, but we certainly do not recognize this.

Had a delicious meal last Tuesday evening. The three of us first had the Indo oyster (3 pieces), 3 Kerucut Ikan Tuna and the Tempeh Mendoan. Shared together. The last item was a bit boring, the first 2 items were delicious! Then, to share for 2 people, the Agus rice table and 2 dishes from the a la carte menu. the Hati Angsa Lite and the Udang Laut Pete. The rice table was very tasty, everything good and highly flavoured! Enjoyed the different flavors too! And the Udang was unfortunately very little (was really a bit of a disappointment) for what you get, but with a fantastic tasty sauce! The Hati was very tasty! We got the spekkoek with coffee/tea and it was so tasty too! Furthermore, top service from arrival to departure! Thank you. We think 5 euros for a cup of tea is a bit excessive.

The food is really nice and worth to try. Only thing is expensive. 4 people 225 euros (only with 3 bottles of water no wine or beer).

Absolutely loved Ron Blaauw! The great atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly attentive. The Indonesian food was phenomenal - each dish packed with rich taste and beautifully presented. The delicious food, especially the Rijsttafel, was unforgettable. Perfect for a special night out. What a wonderful experience for our monthly date night. Every bite was phenomenal. The service was really great, helped by an incredibly nice team, which made the evening very complete. It is clear how much attention has been put into the quality of the entire experience. We come from far away, but if we are in the area again we will definitely come back!

Ron gastro bar  We waren wat verlaat door het verkeer, erxwerd geen probleem van gemaakt.  Bediening is vlot, in het propvolle restaurant,  keuken werkte op full speed.  Werden snel voorzien van een drankje en bestelden onze wensen.  Vooraf de steak-tartare,  lekker pittig. En daarna, de heerlijke rijsttafel.  Het was weer een feestje.  Tot de volgende keer.

We can be short about the food: very good. The amount of a rice table for 4 people (with an extra dish) was just enough. We thought it was very expensive. The rice table for 4 people with an extra dish came to €176. We spent €170 for a bottle of wine, 2 bottles of water, 2 beers, 3 desserts with a drink and 1 coffee. Then suddenly almost €350 is very expensive for 13 dishes with some drinks and 3 desserts. That is almost twice as expensive as the top Indonesian restaurant Bogor in The Hague. Another tip for the atmosphere: pop music from the 80s that is dominant, we found it a bit dissonant.

The best Indonesian meal here so far. Everything from Rijsttafel Agus was wonderfully fresh and warm. The satay ajam and kambing stood out, super tender and tasty. The ambiance is also beautiful and the service is friendly and fast. Definitely recommended!

Very tasty food, nice atmosphere and helpful and friendly service. On the occasion of a birthday, a cake with a candle and a handwritten card arrived downstairs, big congratulations!

Quality super as well as the price.

I was excited to try Ron's as i had heard some good things. From the moment we stepped in the door the experience was terrible. We were "greeted' by a women who barked at us for our booking and then walked away. We had to call to her to clarify if we were to follow, the restaurant was empty so it was not a case of being busy. She continued to make a big point that we were English speaking, and "needed" English menu's. There was no information given that there were two menus and that we had only received the snack/light bites menu. When our guests arrived, she asked, rather brusquely, if they were English speakers as well (they weren't). She continued to make unnecessary comments about our language preference, leaving us all feeling uncomfortable. We’ve all lived in the Netherlands for years and are accustomed to the directness in communication, but this felt rude and unwelcoming to the point we were still discussing it days later. After this, she seemed to completely ignore us, making it hard to get her attention for any further service. When I was leaving, she was standing in the doorway with a colleague, blocking the exit. I had to excuse myself just to get past, and she didn’t even make eye contact, let alone say goodbye. Overall, the experience was disappointing and, frankly, quite unpleasant. I hope Ron’s can address this type of service as it leaves a lasting negative impression.

Great food, just a shame the portion sizes were microscopic. A rijsttafel for 4 people just offered one bite of each dish. And a single portion of rice to share amongst us.

Good morning, we are a family (2 adults and 2 children) and we were superbly received at your establishment. The very varied menu allowed everyone to find what they were looking for. We chose the "Rijsttafel" and were won over by the experience, it was fabulous. Furthermore, the cocktails are original and very good. The ladies at the service took great care of us, brought us two delicious banana donuts for the children, it was very attentive and generous. Finally, our son, who dreams of becoming a chef, was able to talk with chef Guillaume who gave him time and attention, introduced him to the different positions in the kitchen, and treated him to a chef's dessert! This was for him the most memorable moment of his stay in Amsterdam, although it was rich in experiences. Thank you, Chef Guillaume! Thanks to the entire Ron Gastrobar team!

Wij hadden met 15 familieleden van 3 generaties daar een lunch gereserveerd. Wat een fantastisch restaurant. Leuke ambiance, super attente gastheer en relaxte bediening. Maar helemaal top was de rijsttafel; je eet je vingers op bij deze culinaire verwennerij. Je voelt je echt een sultan als gast. Dit restaurant komt in mijn shortlist van top restaurants die ik mijn vriendenkring zal aanbevelen. Uiteraard moet ik zelf een reden vinden om weer snel terug te komen. We hebben, groot en klein, ervan genoten en wees maar zuinig op al je personeel. KAMU BAIK-BAIK SAJA

Service was mediocre for the price paid. We did not have one waiter tending our table but 4-5 different ones either overcrowding us and asking us the same questions OR forgetting us and we had to call them to get another glass of wine. You get better service at fast food restaurants… That being said everyone was courteous and nice, it is just very bad logistics and coordination among staff.

This place is magical and food is over the top. Quality food and sophisticated cuisine. I loved it more at lunch cause it’s less busy but also nice for dinner.
