Gembira Street Food in Stadshart

Price/quality ratio is disappointing. Especially a lot of rice in relation to the rest. For 16.50 you expect a little more. It's also a pity that I heard afterwards that you have to pay an extra euro for the nasi, because it contains chicken. I didn't find that chicken, so maybe she meant soy sauce, but then again a euro might be a bit much. Taste is good by the way!

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish was prepared with great attention to detail, and the quality of the ingredients was outstanding.

Great Indonesian restaurant. Order food 3x during our stay in Stadshart, Amsterdam. Friendly service and really helpful staff, especially when helping my son choose best foods to eat with his food allergies.

Love coming here almost weekly, but this should not belong in the food!! Had me choked. lol.

We often got food here, but this time it was less tasty. One example: The rendang was tender and soft, but tasted of nothing. And the portions were smaller. Is there another chef/owner?

Lovely food, bad service. Waiting at the counter, with my daughter, while the employee completely ignored us after helping a previous customer, and walked to the back. Another lady asked if she could help us and apologized for her colleague. Too cold inside made us eat our snack quickly and leave.

Food is good but you can't sit there for too long or parking is a maximum of 2 hours. Pick up is better because there is a lot of choice with dishes which is handy just cooking rice at home, a rice cooker doesn't cost much these days at blok .marskramer

The food is great, but the people working here are so rude that I decided never to come back here.

Today I ordered two menu B to take away and one I only wanted with vegetables (without rice or noodles) the portion should be in accordance with the price, it was not like that, the woman who served me was very rude and did not advise me well with the food, she I asked if a breath was very spicy and he said no and now that I'm home I can't eat it because it is so spicy. It was obvious that she didn't want to work, she was very rude. I also work customer service in a store and if you choose that job you should at least be polite. I will not return to this restaurant nor do I recommend it.

This is my first time came to Gembira in Amstelveen. I ordered a few times through thuizbezorgd before. Also went more time to Toko Gembira in Zaandam previously. Like the other Toko Gembira, they have plenty choices of food, from pre-packaged meal like yellow rice (ready to eat with chicken, serundeng, eggs, tempe and some cucumber), gado2, mie ayam (chicken noodles), etc and also ala carte menu that you can pick yourself. Lots of snacks as well, like martabak, corn fritter / perkedel jagung, spring rolls, etc. Unlike the one in Zaandam, this one has several tables as well, it's more convenient if you prefer to dine in. Bigger place and a bit more fancier than the one in Zaandam. Spent €76 for me and my husband, but I also got some meats and veggies take out that was sold by grams in the containers. So foodwise, all good, however the lady that served me, the one with the glasses and tattoos on her neck, was a bit rude and unpleasant. She is lacking of customer service and seems that she really didn't wanted to be there, and was rushing me to pick, while other customers was also being served by her colleagues. The other 2 Indonesian ladies (they spoke bahasa with me, I'm Indonesian), one younger and one older, was nice and friendly and explained the menu well. The other non Indonesian lady, perhaps Filipino, not really sure, with a bit of grey hair, was also friendly and served the customer well. Perhaps that lady with the tattoos on her neck can learn from her colleagues how to work in a customer service industry better. When she served me, I bought some nasi kuning, she also didn't gave me the kerupuk (crackers) and sambal that comes with it. I found out because I needed to came back and get one more pack of nasi kuning for a friend of mine, and the lady with a bit of grey hair that served me, she gave me the kerupuk and the sambal along with the nasi kuning. So, it is such a pity that the service of that one person could affect the overall experience enjoying this good food in Gembira street food.

Good Indonesian food with a lot of variety. Get to see what the dishes look like and pick what you like (or looks yummy!) for their Set Menus and Rijsttafel. Ordered the rijsttafel which had pretty generous portions. Took away what we couldn’t finish

Vandaag 2x chicken soup, en apart in een sweet tofu bakje and grilled chicken gekocht. My mother is from Jakarta, wife from Wonosobo, Jakarta friend and I think the tofu is stale and very sour! Young, hopefully it'll be better next time! Delicious grilled chicken.

Very rude customer service. I barely had my food finished and the worker there told me they were closing and I had to leave. He was the same guy from who I ordered. I didn't had any warning that they were closing and there are no time stamps in the restaurant about closing hours. He even insisted if I would eat inside. He could've warned me about the closing hours instead of abruply stoping me from eating.

We were a bit late in the day, with the good experience when the place had only been open for a short time, we tried again, but now the food was disappointing, chicken satay was burnt, did not look good and was quite dry, white rice was lumpy and sticky, satay sauce wasn't too bad, all in all not comparable to the first visit a while ago, price was not in proportion to what you get in terms of food and quality...difficult to communicate with staff although they were quite friendly came across. Too bad this concept couldn't maintain the quality it started with.

The best Indonesian street food so far here is nearby Amsterdam. The food tastes authentic, and they often have special menus every day. I love their Nasi Kuning, mie ayam, tahu isi, kangkung ❤️

My favorite go-to place for tasty, value-for-money, and fulfilling meals. Loads of choices with great tasting indonesian food. I love their "Nasi Kuning" (yellow rice with fried chicken), and kids love their "Mi Ayam" (chicken noodle with fried dumplings). All of their ala-carte meals are to die for - those are special dishes by chef with many years of experience.

Tasty Indonesian food with many options and good spices! Various type of rice dishes, noodles, and seafood, chicken, pork, and beef dishes. Good to mention that there are vegetarian options too with great vegetables and many tofus and tempehs. I've been here a lot of times and they serve different "special" menus that can bring good surprise.

Amstelveen, close to Schiphol Airport, has a large amount of international headquarters and a large community of expatriates who know how a dish should taste. In the ‘Stadshart’ is Gembira Streetfood which sells Indisch- Indonesian dishes. Only a small amount of tables are available hence streetfood. One of the best Indisch - Indonesian restaurants.

Food was always good but what I'm experiencing now... Picked up roti today, only beans, lots of juice and 2 pieces of chicken. This is not roti, but bean soup. This is really bad. Can go straight into the trash 😵‍💫

Got 4 delicious sandwiches during lunch. 2x the babi bacon, 1x the spicy chicken and 1x the grilled chicken. At many sandwich shops, grilled chicken is often dried out, but at Gembira this was not the case.

Just found out about this place and I’m happy to say that the food is absolutely incredible! Its super tasty and the meat is super tender. The only thing is that they are a little greedy with the portions that they give you. Prices are ok! Overall definitely worth it!

I've been to Gembira Street Food three times now for both snacks and menu a. The snacks are of varying quality. I found the lemper and maiskoek tasty, but the bregedel, bapao and risolles were on the dry side and tasted as if the snacks were not fresh. A number of items that I had chosen in my menu a were also less. The potatoes in soy tasted dry and the tempe/tofu did not taste good either. The noodles and the roasted chicken tasted great again. I brought a snack of sticky rice (wrapped in a banana leaf) and expected it to contain tender beef, but it was just minced meat, also on the dry side and not seasoned, so that was disappointing for the price (4.95). Finally, I find it distasteful that staff are smoking in front of the store. If you work with (fresh) food, it is not pleasant for your customers to see that you smoke, especially not in the place where customers also eat their food. All in all, Gembira has the potential to move in the right direction, but they will have to look more critically at how they can offer fresher food every day, because you can taste that it is not from the same day.

Staff is friendly, but takes their time despite the crowds. Unfortunately I am not happy with the food. It did not taste fresh, the food seemed to have been there for a very long time and therefore had a sour (after)taste. Discarded as a precaution. Quantity in supply seems more important than quality in this case.

Ordered here via Uber eats. Tasty food and multiple options, even for vegetarians. Unfortunately one of the dishes ordered was not available, but they gave me a call to inform me that they had replaced it with another, similar, dish. Food came warm and well packed.

I had lunch here when we were in office. Ordered asian indonasian vegetarian rice with beans , potatos and soya chunks. I liked a bit but being an indian i felt it little dry may be due to the cboice i made but overall was good experience with 7.5 euros. Staff is good and has a place to ait and eat your food.

Expensive and when I got home there was a strange sour taste to the ajam and quite tough meat from the rendang. Not worth repeating for me unfortunately.

Picked up all kinds of dishes today. Friendly boy who gave me an extra skewer of satay and let me taste the sambal Jeruk before I bought it. Their dishes are good and diverse in taste. Everything is fresh and, in addition to many dishes, also snacks and snacks. Gemira is tasty, but today the 5 stars go to the employee who was alone behind the counter at 3 pm💫👌🏻

Was going to eat there yesterday and had a negative pcr test to show for eating in as I came from abroad however the manager or whoever he was examined the document as I am going through international customs border control and then arrogantly said to his staff to only eat outside and turned away irritated as he would do me a favour. I have used the pcr test to eat at other places in Amsterdam including the Hotel where I was staying in and it was all fine. I have obviously left the place immediately after having been treated like a stray dog without ever returning there again. 1 star for the friendly female staff.

Our go to when we are at the Amstelveen Winkelcentrum. The place is clean, and the staff are so attentive. For a good price, you can order Indonesian Chinese food. Food taste different from each other, some spicy, some sweet. Food is juicy and not dry. They also have some grocery items. The sambal is also good.

Yesterday I put together a small 7-dish rice table and then just heated it up and ate it. All dishes had an authentic Indian taste. My favorites were the Sambal Goreng Tempeh, the Balinese Fish and the Oblok Oblok. Definitely going back. The food was delicious!! And the service is very friendly.

A very clean and aesthetic place, a very large selection of food, it is possible to make a dish with rice or noodles, all kinds of vegetables and a meat dish. Each option has many more options. It was really delicious (I didn't have time to take a photo...😊)

I've been there once, for a takeaway order, and I really enjoyed it. The dish tasted good, fresh and easy to transport.... One can eat his or her dish straight away. Had a sandwich here for the first time. Very nice people, hence the 2 stars, but I threw away the sandwich because the meat was rock hard and chewy. Shame..

It was very friendly and clean restaurant. A lot of menus were available compared to other Asian toko's I've been to. Also staffs are very kind and full of smile. I personally recommend green bean and different meat menu.

Gembira offers quality Asian food for a very reasonable price. I had a delicious meal here. In addition, the staff is also highly commendable. These are nice people who will take the time to explain certain dishes to you or let you taste them. They always took that (small) extra step to make you feel valued as a customer. In short, a great business that I can highly recommend!

This place has been open for four months now and I must admit that I come here for lunch on average 2/3 times a week during my work. Nice people, good food and a nice twist in dishes. Highly recommended!
