We've been fans for years, and people have been coming from far and wide to enjoy Indonesian food here. If you visit, definitely order a spring roll. One of our favorites! The chicken satay with kambing sauce is my go-to order. The garlic peanuts are amazing, as are the sajur lodeh, the cumi cumi, the broccoli with chicken, crispy tempeh, and the nasi kuning. OMNOM, everything is delicious!! Oh yeah, and the neighbors have delicious bread and French treats! Two birds with one stone.

Delicious food and the flavours are top - always busy and worth driving for - saté kambing and their spring rolls are really delicious and also the soup on Friday - clean, fresh and tidy and friendly service.

Ordered 2 x Menu, Fill the container with rice, add some vegetables and add 2 different pieces of meat and an egg. Bag of prawn crackers and almost 50.00 euros paid! It was tasty but very pricey!!!

In my opinion, Toko madjoe is a classic that you should not miss. I can't put into words how good this shop is, but it is definitely worth a detour!

Toko Madjoe was een van de beste Indonesische toko’s in de omgeving van Amsterdam totdat er enkele jaren geleden van eigenaar is over gegaan. Langzaam werd de verhouding kwaliteit en prijs minder en minder. Het gevoel dat het duur is geworden in vergelijking met soortgelijke afhaal toko’s beheerst je. De vriendelijkheid van het personeel is ook ver te zoeken, men werkt er niet met plezier achter de balie.

All is splendid here at my first time visit. Ment mostly for takeaway. Nice food, good service, because of the Happy Holidays it was a joyfull wait with customers and friendly staff.

Nice neighborhood shop for takeaway or eating on site (2 small tables). Friendly and helpful staff. Choose from many fresh dishes as well as sambals, prawn crackers and herbs. Gift cards also available.

Fairly busy, there were 5 people ahead of me, so expect a wait time. We had different preparations of chicken and a version with prawns. Delicious bacon biscuit. Different types of prawn crackers. Also saw a wall full of herbs. Spent around €40 on lunch for 3 people (2 adults and 1 teenager).

Randomnly came across this place as i was visiting a showroom opposite. The food was fantastic, authentic and healthy Indonesian food. Vegan friendly and they were more than happy to suggest some great options for me! Service was very friendly and lovely vibe in the place. Any 5 items was €15 so very reasonably priced also.

1 of the best in the Amsterdam area. Great variety and it all tastes very good and fresh. Whenever I'm in the area I always pick up something tasty. The saoto soup only on Fridays and it is best to reserve in advance before it is sold out. They also sell sate kambing like one of the few. Satay ayam is delicious.

Based on the good reviews we bought a dinner for 6 persons. We choose the nasi kuning rames. We got nasi kuning, meat in boemboe bali, chicken, an egg and vegies. You can choose between spicy or sweat dishes. Amount is more then sufficient. Taste was good, one of the best take away we ever had. If you need to buy ingredients, you should go elsewhere. Choice is very limited. Also it is possible to eat at the toko. Although limited. 2 tables and 2 persons per table.

With the two older people, I think the owners, you got your money's worth, friendly people. This has changed since the arrival of a new employee. Now you get too little and it has become more expensive. The food itself is delicious.

PICK-UP TOKO AMSTELVEEN. It is a small shop located in the old village in Amstelveen. Due to the good reviews, I decided to pick up from Toko Madjoe today. My first meeting, I was greeted kindly by the staff upon entering. There was a lot of choice in the dishes, which looked delicious. The sizes she suggested were smaller than I was used to. When paying, I was very shocked by the price. This is the most expensive store I know in the whole of the Benelux. A bowl of noodles was €10.75 for 200 grams. After heating up, I was not surprised by the authentic Javanese flavors. It was too salty, not fresh and not very tasty. It's a shame, I'm looking forward to it. The best store in the country for many years. The different flavors and textures of the dishes do not blend into each other and are always perfectly balanced. It's almost weird to have to describe it this way but I honestly can't say enough good things about this company. It's unbelievable how they have been able to deliver consistent quality at this level in the 20 years that I have been there. The satay kambing is a must have. Now that I live abroad I dream about that sauce. When I came here as a little boy, I was always given salty fish and told to visit Indonesia. Well, that's still planned. But luckily I can enjoy Toko Madjoe every time until then.

Wij komen van ver met 3 personen, allemaal sate kambing besteld. Jammer we kunnen alleen voor afhalen en niet daar konden eten. De sate was lekker.

Now, after taking away 4 times, I have tasted almost all the dishes. I found the satay ajam a bit bland in taste, as did the peanut sauce (the same as the gado gado). I also don't like Friday afternoon soto. Everything else tasted excellent, especially the sate kambing (spicy version).

Ordered a rice table for the business. It was wonderful. And the guests enjoyed it too.

For us it is worth driving there especially from Limburg. This is the place you should definitely go to to experience authentic Javanese dishes!

I have been buying food here for over 20 years. The food is of good quality. What I do think, however, is that customer service has deteriorated considerably since the new owner arrived. The employees are not friendly, I have the feeling that they are walking on their toes, especially when the owner is also at work. Too bad because before there was always a lot of fun and a lot of laughter. The owner is also not friendly and unfortunately she radiates that to her staff. As a result, we now buy food much less often than before.

What a party every time. By far the best store in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. We ate delicious vegetarian nasi rames again tonight. Worth the trip, really!
