Rue de la Plume in Centrum

A week ago, I dined here with a good friend. Right from the start, when we made our reservation via email, the hospitality was immediately noticeable; they asked if we had any special requests. I'm not much of a wine lover myself, but I'm a fan of craft beer. I mentioned this in the email, and received a friendly reply with the words: "We'll do our best." And they more than delivered! Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and escorted to our table. When we were able to order our first drink, the cheerful remark quickly sounded: "Oh, you're the one with the beer!" To my surprise, the sommelier had purchased a selection of matching beers especially for me to pair with the menu. The dinner itself was truly fantastic and definitely on par with the Michelin-starred restaurants I've dined at before. Both the wines (according to my friend) and the beers were excellent, but what truly made the evening special was the warmth and personal attention from the entire team. I've rarely felt so relaxed in a rather luxurious restaurant. When I'm back in Alkmaar, this will definitely be the first place I'll book again. A little tip for the restaurant (although they really don't need it): offer a beer pairing, because I'm sure there are other beer lovers out there like me. Conclusion: an unforgettable evening, without a doubt a solid 10/10.

June 5th, five of us ate here with great expectations. Informed in advance about my wife's allergy problems, but sitting at the table did not come through! They improvised that evening and something we had never experienced before, certainly not at a restaurant recommended by Michelin: we had a great amuse of, among other things, smoked yoghurt and curry mango in a cone, my wife: cone with macadamia nuts!!! The rest of the food was of a nice standard, but the 4 stars for food could not be higher, nor for the service.

Mijn ervaring met de verrassingsgerechten van Luella en Madeleine waren al goed. Daarom heb ik vorig jaar besloten om alle tafels (op mijn verjaardag) te reserveren om zo mijn 60e verjaardag in Rue de la Plume te kunnen vieren. Gisteren was het zo ver; het hele restaurant was voor ons. Wat hebben wij een geweldige avond gehad; geweldig eten, veel gezelligheid. Wat er voorgeschoteld wordt blijft een verrassing, maar daar houdt ik juist van. Alles was geweldig 😍 Ik heb al enorm veel feedback van mijn genodigden; zij zijn enorm enthousiast.

Met mijn vriendin ons 5 jarig samenzijn gevierd bij Rue de la Plume. Een uitzonderlijk vriendelijk contact met bijzonder smakelijke gerechten. Oog voor detail en attent op ons lustrum. Wij eten bijzonder veel in restaurants maar deze staat boven aan.

Very good restaurant in Alkmaar, perhaps (one of) the best. Immediately upon entering you will experience that it is incredibly attractively decorated. The service is absolutely excellent: friendly, proactive and flexible to think about any adjustments to the menu. Then the food itself: of very high quality. Very tasty, creative and beautifully presented. The matching wines were so delicious that I upgraded my half wine arrangement to the full arrangement. All in all it was a great find. Our group has decided that we will eat here at least once a quarter. Highly recommended.

Hier gegeten met vrienden die hier al eerder aten en hoog opgaven over dit restaurant. En ze hadden niets teveel gezegd: heel goed gegeten in een fijne sfeer. Gekozen voor het 5-gangen menu waarbij je alleen aangeeft wat je niet eet en/of lust. Stuk voor stuk heerlijke gerechten, goed bereid en mooi gepresenteerd. Ook goed gekozen bijpassende wijnen. De tijd tussen de gangen was precies goed. Hartelijke en gastvrije bediening die zorgde voor een fijne sfeer waarin je je als gast heel welkom voelt. De inrichting oogde wat koel, qua kleurstelling, materiaalgebruik en verlichting. Had van mij wel wat een wat warmere uitstraling mogen hebben. Maar al met al ben ik net zo enthousiast over dit restaurant als mijn vrienden.

Over onze eerste ervaring met dit restaurant waren wij zo enthousiast, dat wij deze keer er met vrienden gingen eten die culinair Nederland ook volgen. Dus viermaal vijf gangen-menu. Wederom .. prachtig opgemaakte borden, interessante smaakcombinaties .. smullen op hoog niveau. Bediening deskundig en sympathiek informeel, doorgang gerechten goed. Wij komen zeker graag terug op dit adres. Bij zoveel lof is ons wellicht een kritische kanttekening gegund. De afgelopen jaren werden wij, in alle gevallen bij gerenommeerde restaurants, geconfronteerd met een verrassende creativiteit wat presentatie van de gerechten betreft. Gefrituurde amuse geprikt op een cactus. Zelfs (bij een **-restaurant) amuses gepresenteerd op een mini voetbalveldje met kunstgras. Hmm .. Rue de la Plume verraste ons ditmaal ook op een noviteit .. reerugplakjes met mini-wasknijpers hangende aan een waslijntje, bevestigd tussen de geweien van reebokjes. Op het plateau ook nog een winterlandschapje, boompje met kunstsneeuw, enz.. Kortom .. kitsch ten top. Desgevraagd liet de bediening ons weten dat de eigenaar dit leuk vindt. Oké .. 't is haar restaurant. Maar wij vonden zo'n wanstaltig ding op tafel en het kinderachtige afhalen van eten vanaf de waslijn allerminst geslaagd, zelfs niet als provocatie voor de goede smaak. Het zij ze vergeven. Nog even terug naar de hoofdzaak .. dit is een toprestaurant!

Very nice welcome in the spacious restaurant. The bar extends to the open kitchen, but you definitely don't hear the perfectly organized kitchen staff.
