A real find! We went because it had very good reviews, and it didn't disappoint. The waiter/owner was very friendly and pleasant; he even tried to speak Spanish or make himself understood. The food was very tasty (a wide variety of dishes, vegetables, meat, and fish), and they'll customize the dish to your liking. Next time I'm in the city, I'll be back!

Best food I've had in Amsterdam. Hands down. It's a small little place, limited seating, but the guys who run it are so good at what they do, they might as well be artists. The food presentation is amazing, the taste is out of this world and I'm even just hooked in their music. The food is garnished so well, with amazing stuff. Pickled pepper and stuffed tomatoes. You cannot go wrong ordering from this place. And definitely don't forget the baklava

The food was very tasty, I liked it. I would definitely recommend it. But I was absolutely disappointed with the service. From the very beginning, I was treated very differently, and I didn’t understand why. When I was ordering (I said it was my first visit and I didn’t know how it works), I was rushed. I didn’t know what vegetable options I had etc. They brought me a table inside because it was raining, and I’m very grateful for that. Since I was sitting inside (where it was very hot), I could see how friendly the other customers were being treated. It’s a real shame.

I came all the way from Arnhem especially for this place, and that says it all. The food is delicious, fresh, and lovingly prepared. It's a real treat every time. The atmosphere is super relaxed and homey, and the guys who work here are incredibly friendly, attentive, and always up for a nice chat. You really feel welcome here. This lunchroom is more than worth the drive. Thank you for the warmth, the service, and of course, the delicious food. See you next week!

Simply exquisite. The staff is super friendly, the setting authentic, and the food meltingly delicious. Few tables, so there might be a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. We dropped the juice offered by the staff on our bike ride back, so we didn't get to try it.

Wish there was a place like this in San Francisco! Everything was delicious and so clean! Pick a base (couscous or rice), a protein (Chicken leg, Fish, or Chicken Tagine today), and three veggies (I loved the sweet potato, butternut squash and beet root. Will definitely come again!!

We had dinner at Rue d’Alger, a spot with a similar concept to Chipotle. You choose a base (either rice or couscous), a main meat (mainly chicken options), and three vegetables. The food is then heated and served. The taste was truly a highlight – it had a wonderful, homemade quality and was very delicious. It's definitely a place I'd recommend for a tasty meal. However, there are a couple of things to note. Seating inside is very limited, so it's not ideal for a long, relaxed sit-down meal; it might be better suited for takeout. Also, the prices were not advertised, which felt a little risky. We ended up paying 37 euros for two plates (no drinks), and we hope we weren't charged a "tourist price." Overall, if you're looking for delicious, homemade-tasting food and don't mind the compact seating or unadvertised prices, Rue d’Alger is a good option.

When we walked in, a wonderful aroma greeted us, and we knew we were in the right place. You choose your food from the display case, choosing rice or couscous, one type of protein (fish or chicken), and three vegetables. Then, the food is heated up for you, and you're assigned a table where it's brought to you within 15 minutes. And what a fantastic meal we had! The food was packed with flavor, reminiscent of a home-cooked meal from your grandmother's cooking. The chicken and fish were tender, and the couscous soaked up all the delicious juices from the meat and seasoned vegetables. The portions were also just right. The only thing I would change about the meal would be to serve a piece of bread on the side so you can scrape your plate clean! Furthermore, the service was friendly and fast, and the place was cozy. All in all, one of the best places I've ever eaten in Amsterdam; I'll definitely be back!

Excellent food and great people. I was wondering why no one posted any menu and realized they don’t have one when visited. The ordering process is simple, you have meat/ vegan options. If you order meat (fish or chicken), you get to choose 3 types of pre-made vegetables to go with: if you choose vegan option, you get to choose 4 types of vegetable dishes. I had grilled fish with eggplant, carrot, shakshouka over rice. My partner had grilled chicken with carrot, sweet potatoes, and shakshouka over rice. Both dishes are nicer made and the vegetables complement them very well, but I think the fish is slightly better soft and buttery). Atmosphere is very casual and welcoming, and service is warm and friendly. Not to mention is the price is super reasonable. Highly recommend.

We had the most amazing meal at Rue d’Alger. We were walking around a neighborhood in Amsterdam the last night of our stay when we stumbled upon this cozy little restaurant. They were in the process of closing for the evening and their usually abundant selection of different dishes had dwindled to almost nothing. I could tell by the way the food looked that it would be amazing. I spoke with the manager and he assured me that they would be able to put together a wonderful meal using tagine chicken over couscous or rice and three vegetables. The meal was overly abundant and full of flavor. I wish I could eat here every day, but that can’t happen. Next time I’m in Amsterdam, this will be the first restaurant I eat at, and maybe the last too. Thank you again for your hospitality and a beautiful meal.

The BEST food in Amsterdam. Everything is fresh and full of flavor. Seems like a family owned place and the brothers that we have seen working there are both extremely friendly. The best way we have found to eat here is to go in and just ask them to fix a plate with whatever they think will taste good together. We have never been disappointed! The seating is extremely limited, so just know you may have to wait or take your food to go.

This business is an Algerian business. This business sells food that is worth €14 for €18. The food that is already prepared is heated up much too hot, which means that the nutritional value is zero. A 1.5 small glass of tea costs €4.50 that is available elsewhere for €3 with more content and is tastier.

And then the baklava to end the meal with was like the cherry on top with its refined flavors and multiple crispy thin layers of the pastry👌🏼🤌🏼 Also very inviting owners who love what they do😊 Will definitely be returning back to this lovely place ✨

We were looking for a late lunch in the area and found this place by pure chance. The restaurant is 100% perfect in every way. The staff (or host) was very kind and helpful in explaining the dishes to us (see previous posts for more details on the rules - no menu, you choose one basic side dish, one meat dish and 3 vegetable dishes) (or a fourth instead of meat). The food was simply divine. The place is not very spacious but very friendly.

I am really impressed with the quality of food and service we had in Rue d'Alger. There isn't a specific menu but basically, you get to choose one choice of meat and three choices of veggie, all served in one plate. We went in for lunch and had chicken and lamb as our protein options. I personally enjoyed the aubergine and brussel sprouts as they were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Highly recommended for those who want an authentic Mediterranean cuisine experience.

I called them with a special request as a surprise for my girlfriend and they were extremely sweet and helpful! Extremely personal and involved; for service a big ten. It is very cozy to sit in the booth, and the food was sublime for a reasonable price. Only praise, I will definitely come here more often!
