Beautiful restaurant and delicious food.

I deleted my old review from two years ago. We were back here last night. I've been coming here for years and it WAS always good, except for a broken air conditioner two years ago. First of all, there was suddenly a barrier and we had to pay €2.50 for parking. Okay, probably against carpoolers, fine. Inside and out, it looked the same. Beautiful building, but the decor is a bit dingy now. We had a reservation inside, but were seated outside anyway. The weather was good, so it was okay. The menu was suddenly quite expensive, but then again, I hadn't been here in a while. It was much more expensive than the average restaurant, and I go to a lot of them. That raises expectations. I had salmon ceviche as an appetizer. Pretty bland, but the salmon was fresh. It looked nice. Most of the dishes actually looked good. For my main course, I had chicken thigh tacos. I had to ask for the salad I'd requested, and it arrived later. The tacos hadn't been in the oven, and I nearly broke my teeth on them. I yelled about it. He didn't know if that was supposed to be the case. I asked for new ones (which wasn't offered), and then he said, "You'll just get the same." Um, then you didn't read the instructions for the tacos. Anyway, we were there for my late father's birthday, with my mother there, so I didn't want to make a scene. I removed the chicken thigh from the taco and put it on the salad. The salad itself was tasteless, though fresh. The chicken thigh was so overseasoned and overcooked it could have been beef. I mentioned that it was delicious. The neighbor at the table next to us also started asking questions about the main course. She had a tuna steak that was ice cold. He also said he didn't know if that was supposed to be the case. He took it to the kitchen—upon request—and came back to say they couldn't do anything about it. The woman had to ask if she could have her tuna steak back, and he brought it back. She got it back, laughed, and said to her husband, "Look, did they all take a bite in the kitchen? He's suddenly a lot smaller." Somewhere, my one glass of wine was taken away with a dreg (I had to drive and was being frugal). Apparently, someone asked if it could go, and I would have said yes, but the music was loud, children were screaming (Zalmhuis can't help it), so I apparently missed that and thought the question was about empty plates. Saying yes to taking my wine away: never ;) Normally, you don't take away a glass with a few sips. Somewhere, I asked my companion what was going on with this once-great restaurant, whether they'd been taken over or something; there was too much wrong. Searched online, and indeed, last spring there was a different owner. Aha... So it wasn't my memory. My mother had a bouillabaisse as a starter, which was very good, as was my friend's tataki. My friend's main course was a burger. The meat wasn't dressed very well, and instead of medium rare, it was so raw it was practically still alive. And cold. Dessert time. I had two chocolate truffles and received them quite quickly, while my boyfriend received a gin and tonic, which was also on the menu. I patiently waited and waited for my mother to receive the crème brûlée, but it didn't arrive. After a while, I asked where the crème brûlée was, but "it was still being made." It arrived after a while, and it was fine. When I asked about the €2.50 parking fee, it turned out that was policy. I was curious if it would be deducted from the bill, but no. When I received the bill, the man wanted to pay immediately; I wanted to double-check. Oh yes, go ahead. By now, irritated by my subpar food, poor service with confusing communication, and repetitive answers—the tacos are on the bill. So I mentioned it, questioning—oh, so you did include the tacos in the bill? Great service. Then I took it off. I paid and, completely against my usual habits, gave zero tip. Things can go wrong; it's all about how you resolve them. They can't do that here; zero empathy. Never again. Overpriced, bad food, and terrible service.

Things haven't improved since the takeover. Upon arrival, parking was already €2.50. It's unusual, but you pay that much in the city, and valet parking at the Harbour Club is also €15, so that's a bit much. Inside, the filthy carpet upstairs didn't bode well. The ambiance was beautiful, but despite having a reservation for inside, we were gently coerced onto the terrace. Upon arrival, we encountered screaming children. But that's something you can experience anywhere. The appetizers were good, but the main courses were terrible. My girlfriend nearly broke her teeth on the tacos. I called the waiter, but he simply said, "If I take them back, you'll get them back the same way." I had a medium burger, but it was so raw that if I had given it two chest compressions, it would have spontaneously started howling again. The crème brûlée was warm and inedible. The service was mediocre and had to be constantly waved over. The table next to us received cold tuna when it should have been warm. After sending it back, they received the same cold tuna back. They also said, "It's the first time, but it's the last time." The fries were so hard you could leave half of them. It used to be a good place to be, but since the takeover, the bar hasn't been set high. Disinterested staff. I'll never, ever come back here.

We went there on my Birthday and enjoyed the free meal for myself. Lovely staff as always. We ordered 5 course menu and loved them all. Side note, a customer still have to pay for the parking and the water glass on table was shocking dirty.

What a beautiful place, lovely atmosphere, beautifully decorated with an eye for detail. It's not cheap, but you know that beforehand. It's not just fish on the menu!

Went for high tea again. This one's different than before, now with sandwiches (instead of bagels and brioches), but still delicious. When I made the reservation, I mentioned it was for a birthday and asked if they could leave a card, which was ready, along with balloons. Very nice! Two minor drawbacks: - you now have to pay for parking on their own lot (€2.50) - the teapots. Literally every time I come here for high tea, I find a leaking teapot. Either it's a coincidence, or the teapots need replacing.

The food was delicious, but the price-quality ratio left a lot to be desired. It took a really long time for someone to take our order. Every time, actually.

First experience here. Parking fees don't seem necessary at this location, but the price is reasonable at €2.50. The interior is busy and crowded, which is not your cup of tea, but it's fine. The table for six was a bit cramped, with two additional chairs. This also caused some staff movement. There wasn't much space for serving food. A container of sauce spilled, which was ignored, so we used the napkin ourselves. Aperitif: I'd like a glass of bubbly. I had to intervene myself to get a bottle for €6, because I think they prefer to charge for six glasses. Then the dishes; they were all delicious. Portion sizes did vary. I had the salmon miso, a nice piece, while the sea bass was a bit small. And then ordering fries separately, which is a shame; they should just serve them with the dish. I would have liked more than one spoonful for dessert, as the scoop practically rolled off the shelf (even when I served it if I hadn't stopped it). All in all, there are pros and cons, but I still feel good. The staff is friendly, but perhaps a bit lacking in experience. It might also be a bit pricey; I just got back from France, where I got better quality or cheaper for the same price.

Pretentious place that lost all its grandeur that it used to have. Food is far below the quality you expect for the price. Cote the beouf was served well done when asking for medium rare. The waitress was super and went to make sure the chef made a new one better but it meant having to wait 30 minutes and the rest at the table was done when my food arrived.

Stunning restaurant! What a setting!!! We got there early, so it was quiet enough to browse freely. It was my birthday the day we dined there, so my food was free. Which is always a nice touch! Balloons on the table and fireworks when they served. The house magician came to our table, which really added to the cozy atmosphere. We had a great time and laughed so much. We definitely want to go back!

Het Zalmhuis isn't what it used to be, unfortunately. I went back recently, and what a disappointment. It looks good, but that's about it. A very long wait, mediocre food quality, and exorbitant prices. The sushi is also anything but fresh... it seems like it was made hours before.

I had a business lunch here and enjoyed a delicious meal. The weather was fantastic, so we could sit outside with a beautiful view of the water where there was so much to see. The staff was polite and friendly, and everything looked well-maintained.

What a fantastic experience at Zalmhuis! From the welcome to the dessert, everything was perfect. Delicious dishes, attentive service, and a warm atmosphere. All the dishes were refined and delicious. Absolutely recommended – I'd love to come back!

Beautiful location, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The restaurant is impossible to reach by phone, which was frustrating when we wanted to change something about our reservation. During our visit, the staff's disinterested attitude was particularly noticeable. We didn't feel welcome, and there was hardly any attention at the table. It's a shame, because the concept and the atmosphere promise much more than what you actually get.

Everything was a complete fiasco. Three guests had a hot lunch that went cold because the fourth guest had to wait 10 minutes for their steak tartare and another 5 minutes because it had to be prepared at the table (!), and the steak tartare, which the previous owner was known for, now came with a half-boiled egg, a very disappointing experience. At noon, smoked salmon with brown edges, and then you call your business: Zalmhuis (!). A croquette that could have come straight from a bad chip shop (try Holtkamp's). The salmon tartare was a tablespoon, definitely not enough for lunch. Both the steak and the salmon tartare were served with two Melba toasts. Baguettes were not available at Zalmhuis, and you had to pay extra for the small bowl of fries. It could have been worse. We ordered three coffees and one black tea. Hot water had been on the table for a while, but a pouch of black tea was nowhere to be found. Incidentally, one of the guests requested a 12-hour meal with a shrimp croquette (they don't eat meat), but it wasn't available. An alternative to the meat croquette (some shrimp or something similar) was out of the question for the arrogant waiter. "Get something else," was his motto! We long for the old Zalmhuis, and owner Herman Hell will be leaving very soon!

An unforgettable experience. It starts right at the entrance: you walk through various beautifully decorated rooms, very festive and refined, with beautiful music. You almost feel like you're at the entrance to a theme park attraction, but chic. When you reach the restaurant, you're greeted warmly by the staff. They're all dressed up and greet us all. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere is great. There was even a magician walking around, showing people tricks. You feel very welcome in this restaurant and you're well looked after. Everything here is one big party. The atmosphere is calm, warm, and formal.

Yesterday I went to Zalmhuis for the first time for my birthday. I can tell you, this was our first and last time! At first, it took ages to order drinks, and once we ordered, it took over 30 minutes to get our drinks. Our table was so sticky that my boyfriend and I could barely get our glasses off it with every sip we took (very annoying). The wait for our food took over an hour. We also had to ask the staff when we wanted another drink; I felt like we were tucked away in a corner. When new plates of food were put on our table, we had to ask the staff to take the other plates away (someone in the restaurant should figure that out for themselves, not us as customers). We saw several customers who hadn't been helped properly and were irritated. A family right next to us left, and the food and drinks sat there for another hour and a half covered in flies. At one point, my boyfriend and I looked at each other and became so grumpy that we didn't even want to order dessert. I really didn't think this was a nice birthday present. I wanted to get home as quickly as possible because it was so disappointing. The price-quality ratio and the service are definitely incomparable. It was definitely the first and last time for us!

The food was delicious and well-prepared. A lovely place to enjoy a delicious meal. Zalmhuis is a beautiful spot with a lovely view. Definitely worth it!

Delicious sushi eaten, small works of art. The service is neat and tidy but also feels a bit distant, but that may be part of a somewhat chic ambiance. It is quite noisy in the restaurant where also quite busy music is played (boom boom boom). Why was that chosen???

Unhygienic. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience, I got sick and nauseous. They've never heard of cross-pollination. Outrageous price and I hardly ate anything. Oops, I thought, Never again. For that price, you should have eaten something. It took way too long before you were helped. Had to wait a long time for cold bitterballen. When a new plate arrived, there was a meat bitterballen in between! Outrageous that that is possible. The restaurant is kitschy and pretentious at the same time with much too loud music and mediocre to bad food. Absolutely not worth the price. Neither meat nor fish.

Truly the most horrible restaurant I have ever eaten at. From the starter to the main course, garbage bin worthy. Raw potatoes, asparagus like rubber, artichoke like marbles... and the rest of the food simply too disgusting to eat. And we wisely did not.

Great location with a view of shipping on the Maas. Beautiful old building, where fish used to be brought in and traded. Delicious fish dishes but also meat and vegetarian.

A nice evening out for dinner together, but unfortunately that was disappointing at the Zalmhuis. Had reserved a spot on the balcony side, but were placed in the full sun, because everything was already full. Had to ask 3 times for ice cubes with drinks. After 1.5 hours it finally arrived. Food takes a long time. Sushi was not tasty. With the salmon you only taste vegetables. Ordered Bavette medium, but it was actually raw. For us not recommended to go again! Unfortunately..

Great restaurant with good choice and very tasty bitterballen! I definitely recommend going there because it is worth the wait!

Super nice staff but with a group of 10 we had to wait a very long time for a drink in a restaurant that was 25% full (Tuesday). Glasses for special beers were gone so they were served in a Heineken glass. Upon entering you are treated to loud, worthless music and that is no different in the restaurant, even the staff is fed up with it. Dishes are OK but the presentation is a joke: I got my well-baked bavette served on top of a copper ammunition box... very inconvenient. Fries are served in a paper container... Someone (the partner of?) without any experience has made a blunder here. This used to be a nice place, but with the new owner it has not improved.

Recommended. We will definitely come here again. Nice entourage. Just a little bit different...

Disappointing experience when and after ordering sushi at the Zalmhuis. In retrospect, “just say it” was exactly the greeting that matched what was served: cafetarimi, a combination of chicken nuggets and other brown fruit with something that looked like fried rice. We let ourselves be tempted by the ‘specialty of our chef’ without really studying the menu. The unfriendly, slightly snappy lady could not explain what the product exactly entailed, so we let ourselves be surprised. In retrospect, my crucial mistake. In no way did this creation resemble the refined dishes you expect when you think of maki, sashimi or nigiri. Because my table companion had suggested sushi days in advance and she was not even disappointed with the taste, we decided not to throw the baked goods in the bin. We did take some photos for entertainment and as a warning. Read the menu carefully: crispy, fried, mayonnaise and that is what you get when you order sushi here.

Great atmosphere, great food, friendly service.

What a disgrace. I went there about 5 years ago and I had a great impression. But now I was really blown away. Ordering two cocktails which took about 40 minutes. If it is busy, just let us know. When you get the cocktail, it is quite melted because it has been ready for too long. Then I order a wine and a cocktail. Here too, there was another 25 to 30 minutes between the wine and the cocktail. I said something about this, where he indicated that the round is on us. I also ordered bites. No napkins were provided with either, just like with the cocktails. Unfortunately, this is the last time for me here.

The sushi is not fresh (made in the morning, the staff said). You can taste that because the rice is dry. The salmon tartare was poorly cut and full of inedible parts of fish, not a pleasant mouthfeel. The tempura shrimps were fine but comparable to those of an all you can eat restaurant. The steak tartare was fine and prepared at the table, a bit bland but the poached egg was cold and more like a hard "boiled" egg than a poached egg. The cocktails were delicious and the interior is beautiful. Several dishes or ingredients were not available to order (including the tuna pops). We were there around 14:30 and I think there were 5 tables occupied. The quality could really be much better, too bad it was such a disappointing experience.

More facade than finesse – disappointing visit to the Zalmhuis The Zalmhuis seems to be all about outward show. It is the kind of place you go to be seen, not to eat well. Everything is geared towards making an impression: grand entrance, striking interior, staff in tight outfits. But as soon as you sit down at the table, it quickly becomes apparent that it is mainly a show with little substance. The food is simply substandard. The dishes lack finesse, flavours are flat and the plates seem designed more for Instagram than for your taste buds. Especially considering the high prices, this is a serious disappointment. The price-quality ratio is seriously out of balance. What is particularly striking: everything seems to revolve around money. Even for parking on their own premises – located on a remote industrial estate – €2.50 is charged. No service, no convenience, but an additional revenue model. On top of that, the toilets were downright dirty. And that says a lot about where the priorities lie: appearance is important, but the basics are neglected. If you like to sit in an overproduced setting with people who mainly think about themselves, then this is your place. But if you come for good food and a well-cared for experience, then skip the Zalmhuis.

Definitely a lot of improvement, last time I went was about 2 years ago, but that was a fiasco, the food was good then but the staff was a disaster, yesterday we had a bite to eat and all the staff were polite, involved and motivated, we will come back!

Food very mediocre and very expensive

Music too loud. You have to talk louder to be heard. When we asked if it could be turned down a bit, we were told that it was not possible, because that was their concept. So you are doing something wrong! And I understand that we were not the only ones who complained about this. So do something about it!! A concept is not sacred!

Beautiful location, great to relax and pamper yourself. I found the food mediocre, perhaps this is due to the expectations I had. I am considering trying it again But the atmosphere is great, there is even a magician for personal entertainment at the table.

We arrived on a Saturday and I thought, gosh there must be a party going on. But that turned out not to be the case. The music (dance, trance) was really loud with heavy bass. Now I used to be a DJ in the 80's. But to be almost blown away during dinner is also something. So I asked if the music could be turned down a bit. The friendly gentleman said that was not possible because this was the policy (loud music). In fact, a DJ came to play at 6 pm. Too bad this is not mentioned anywhere on the website otherwise we would not have come. So: I didn't order anything else and left. Too bad because I was curious about the food. 2 stars because the gentleman was very friendly. But unfortunately we cannot judge the food. With this loud music you will not see us back here.

Zalm huis in their website States that someone who has a birthday can eat for free. It then says you can celebrate your birthday any day of the week. Unfortunately this isn’t true. You are only allowed to eat for free on the actual day of your birthday. Not “any day of the week” and if you point this out to them you will get a rude answer back. Extremely disappointing service

In a beautiful building with a breathtaking view we enjoyed a wonderful evening. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the food was excellent. While we enjoyed our dishes, a magician came to the table. With amazing tricks and a good dose of humor he managed to enchant everyone.

I was here for a training. Mini rolls and lettuce with too much sauce. Disappointing.....

Food is ok. Atmosphere too. Only helped by a short girl who clearly does not want to be there. Stay home is my advice. Then our dinner will be more pleasant.

Great location, good food but the weirdest service. Arrogant, distanced, VERY slow, unfriendly. Unfortunately one of the very few locations to have a business lunch in the area, but not a good experience to show guests the Rotterdam hospitality. Such a shame.

Food is OK. Service is really bad, not enough knives and forks, we ate main course with either for starter or dessert, very small pieces. One main course was taken wrong, side dishes came late. Service employees (most of them) spoke unclear and soft. Great location, not the experience you expect for this price range. I would certainly not recommend Zalmhuis anymore, too bad.

I hereby submit a complaint about a high tea we recently had at Restaurant Zalmhuis. Despite the fact that there was prior contact by e-mail and telephone about a food allergy to pepper, no adapted menu was offered. In that case, we would have expected that the reservation would be canceled or that it had at least been clearly communicated that no suitable options were possible. When we arrived there, it was only checked whether it was all possible at all. The sandwich options we got next were downright disappointing: * A dry sandwich with a few slices of chicken fillet * A dry roll with pieces of pickled, sour eggplant (I don't know how you came up with the idea) * A dry roll with only smoked salmon (would have been fine if the other options had added something) This is far from the experience you would expect at a high tea, especially after clear communication about dietary requirements. In addition, the tea options were also particularly disappointing. We received tea bags with lemon, chamomile and Earl Gray flavors. This offer does not do justice at all to what you can expect from a high tea.

Good food in itself. BUT: If Sobet puts ice cream on the menu and then comes with vanilla ice cream, you don't understand how allergens work. The waiter really didn't care! According to the website, there is a children's menu, but the waiter did not want to bring it, he knew it by heart. However, the children's ice cream was something completely different.... The chocolate truffles come in many different flavors in a large selection box, but the waiter couldn't explain what is what. The DJ and live singer should create some atmosphere, but that just has to suit your taste....

Salmon house, we would. For the non-experts; Luxury restaurant for fish and cocktails with a chic atmosphere and a view of the river. And music, dance floor position, upon entry. Just as loud on the first floor. For me, Rotterdam is a home game, for my company it is an hour's drive away. We briefly discuss whether we should name it. I do that immediately when the host hands us the card, he immediately says 'No!'. Quite outspoken, reinforced by the message that it is asked more often, that it is not allowed by the head office. Or the music could be turned down a notch. So not just our problem. More chance of overstimulation, less chance to have a relaxed chat. Furthermore, there are three occupied tables in our view, there is nothing to do. Grumbling, he leaves us with the message that he will check it just to be sure. Will come back soon, this is really head office policy and can only be operated there. I ask the best man if he is really trying to convince me that there is no volume knob in the building itself. Let's go. Water tower, other side of the bridge, Brabant enjoy sightseeing Rotterdam. Nothing to worry about, we automatically slide into plan B, no stress. I can be brief about it further. Except for memories of a 40up party full of 55+ people and also swingers, just after my divorce. What a fun shit party that was. I ordered the shirts immediately after returning home for me and the friend I was with. Today we don't get any further than an empty terrace and a closed door. Plan C, restaurant Maas, on the other side of the bank. Just call to be sure, open! Back to South. We get a spot in the sun, by the water, behind glass out of the wind. We eat, drink, talk, enjoy the view, each other and meet other terrace goers. Time flies because we have love, fun and depth. Pictures are taken, a desert in the middle of the day finishes it off. The service is attentive and friendly. The peanut butter cheesecake was menacingly addictive. We're having a great time. Zalmhuis has long been forgotten. It's hard when a friendship is so dear, but an hour away. Something she and I can no longer do independently, driving so 'far'. Now I'm still on my orange, pink cloud. Today I held you, hugged you, saw you laugh and shine next to your great support and support. You are often mine. I'm so glad he belongs to you. We must miss more than we can meet. But we see each other every day, here, with an open mind. Let's look at what it is like, the challenge. That biggest one. This is a review for the Zalmhuis that got out of hand. Also directly at restaurant Maas. From plan A, B, C to D. From Berkel Enschot to Rotterdam. We can do that, I want to go with you to Z, to the end. You are the cream of the crop. The outside is already very inviting

We booked a high tea via social deal. It was very tasty, enough choice and the location is beautiful. Very friendly staff also work there.

We were 'not even punished' for just coming for a cup of coffee. Unpleasant operation. Before you can even enter, you are obliged to pay 2.50 to park. Not really hospitable if you are not even allowed a glass of water with your coffee. Today we wondered if we could have dinner here with our entire company, but after this experience we decided against it.

Ate yesterday. Our daughter turned 18. Food was very tasty. Service very friendly but sloppy. Started sitting down at the table. Ordered balloons with a card. They were neatly placed on the table, but with the wrong card. The husband and son-in-law's drinks had already been served, mine and daughter's cocktails took a long time, and before they were served we were asked if we already knew what we wanted to eat. Also had to ask twice where a drink was. The bill was also calculated for the birthday boy/girl, birthday boy/girl eats for free. It was all neatly arranged and resolved, but we noticed that it was a little less smooth than other times we have been here. But will definitely come back.

Have to say that tonight was not what I expected. The food was fine to good, but certainly not what you would expect for the dishes served here and the associated price tag. The service is also really lacking; not paying attention, I had no one at the table during the starter and main course, dessert whether everything was to your liking, matching wines ordered had to be pointed out if the next dish was already on the table... Such a shame that more can't be taken from this. 3 different servers at the table #you are out for an evening and you really want to be welcomed with open arms, to be pampered, but I really missed that. All in all, we were disappointed for a considerable amount of money spent. Hope for improvement for this location🙏

Thursday evening with a group of colleagues. Was fun. Food fine. Drinks took a little longer and sometimes service disappeared. Had a nice evening Interior recently renovated.

Beautiful location. Nicely decorated, neat toilets Taken 5 course menu. 1st course delicious tuna shachimi, 2nd course of parsnip soup with chips in it not really successful. 3rd course pumpkin ravioli had little or no flavor. We asked twice for salt and pepper, which took almost 10 minutes before we got it. 4th course a small piece of sea bass on oriental vegetables with soy sauce, very stiff vegetables, not a good combination. 5th course a kind of pastry made of mocca with hazelnut. Did not meet expectations. Espresso was fine. Advice: don't take a menu. Please note that payment does not always match what you ordered.

We went for a drink. Had a great evening at the bar. Delicious cocktails, prepared with care and attention by a friendly bartender. Later we had a cheese board and dim sum.

Great food, delicious salmon. Friendly staff and tasty dessert. Nice view of the water. It was noticeably cold inside. You have to pay 2.5 for their parking. Very strange, I have never experienced having to pay to park in the parking lot of a place where you are going to eat. Certainly not if you quickly end up with a bill of €200 with 2 people...

Food was fine, just not very hot What was special is that we asked for a drink for my father-in-law. They didn't have one, said an employee Half an hour later I asked another employee. Yes, we have them. Separate. Furthermore, I found it drafty and chilly inside

Had a wonderful evening in a really good catering establishment. The atmosphere was great, the choice was wide and the service as it should be in a good catering establishment. Definitely worth repeating and recommended.

Simply 10 out of 10, delicious food, top service, lovely ambiance

First of all, what a beautifully styled case. Secondly, a small comment from me about the volume of the (nice) music. At the entrance downstairs it was really loud and the volume was also really loud at our table and we had to make an effort to hear each other well. We later understood that this loudness is part of the concept 😔 The food was very tasty, but finished quickly ;) Service was good because we had to attract attention a few times to be helped because no one looked at the tables when walking past.

Very nice interior and delicious, good quality food

Eaten here a few times, often had that you have to wait a bit long. But the food always made up for a lot until today. The food is delicious but the service is terribly bad here. Today sat for 40 minutes without even getting a menu or a first drink order. After the second group was let in and even had already been given a drink we left. Do yourself a favor. If you have something to celebrate or just want to eat somewhere. Save yourself a lot of annoyance and find another restaurant with better service.

Lovely unexpected lunch with daughter-in-law outside on the terrace. Really recommended, glad it didn't become a yellow arch.

Also enjoyed a beautiful new 🆕 mega 🛥️ yacht that had to pass under the Brienenoord Bridge, a piece of Dutch 🇳🇱 craftsmanship.

Had a great evening in the beautiful Zalmhuis with the 3 of us. We celebrated our daughter's graduation and the hostess responded warmly and cordially. We had a delicious meal (bouillabaisse, steak tartare, crispy prawns and of course salmon) and enjoyed the celebration of this milestone.

The place looks very great. Super nice ambiance and interior is very interesting. I think the food is fine, but not very special for the price. Nice sushi, not too small either. They had live music aswell and entertainment. A very nice guy came by our table to show us some tricks, this was such a nice addition! However the music was extremely loud. We came with a group of around 8 people and could barely communicate

Just good, nice appearance, a bit pricey but that makes for a good atmosphere

Nicely decorated restaurant (which attracts a certain crowd) with a beautiful view over the water. Despite the fact that there is almost nothing nearby and there is a lot of space, the restaurant is almost always full. There are many dishes on the menu, not only seafood. But with a name like this, the specialty should of course be everything about salmon. We therefore ordered several dishes with salmon. The salmon tartare was fresh, the salmon ceviche was a bit disappointing. It is also quite strange that there was little sushi with salmon in it. For the main course there are 3 choices with salmon. In itself nothing wrong with the dishes (we tried all three), but because this should be a specialty it was a bit disappointing. The salmon was fried a bit too long and therefore dry while the skin was not crispy enough. The sea bass was tastier. Perhaps the tastiest of the evening was the fried vegetables. Good portion and a lot of variety with asparagus, courgette, fennel and vegetable chips. The service was not great, they could have been a bit more mannered for a place like this. Ultimately we had a great evening, but to live up to the name, the quality of the salmon dishes needs to improve.

After having had a High Tea here twice a few years ago, we thought let's go again, but unfortunately it is now more expensive, less and chaotic. The atmosphere around Christmas was cozy and the new decoration was a bit busy but nice. All High Teas had to start at the same time, but it didn't work at all with about 100 guests. Waiting, waiting and if you were unlucky even longer. Too little service and we are still waiting for other flavors of tea. There were people who hadn't had anything yet when we were almost done and things were already slow for us. High Tea tasty but not enough for the amount. So no more Zalmhuis High Tea for us...shame!

It was very nice, the children were free, 1 child per parent and only during school holidays. There was also a magician.

Nice meal Nice extras for the atmosphere; The beautiful hostess, the magician/fire eater and the singer. The music is just a little too loud for me, which sometimes makes it difficult to hear each other. What I find annoying is that there are English speaking staff, but that is the case with many restaurants these days

Were there with a large group for lunch. Cozy at a round table. The place and the building are beautiful. Lunch was fine. Only cleaning is needed, floors are very dirty and so are toilets. Something you wouldn't expect at all from a location like the salmon house.

If you are vegetarian then this is not the place for you. I went for hi tea with my girls and was very disappointed with the food they served me. I mentioned in booking regarding my diet preferences that i am vegetarian and do not eat aubergine/zucchini, still I was served aubergine sandwich. When i pointed out, they changed it for avocado sandwich which was not good at all. They said chef is making burrata sandwich for me but later came with avocado. So in savory only option for me was avocado sandwich and nothing else. I would not recommend for vegetarians. But my friends enjoyed fish
