Salsa Shop in Centrum

I had very high expectations for this place after all the great advertising over the city, but I was deeply disappointed. We ordered the quesadillas and the tacos, which were both cold and very badly balanced. Also the spice level was not specified and very strong. The tortillas of the tacos were frozen in some parts and falling apart in others (see pictures). Also the quesadillas were incredibly small compared to the pictures. The staff was also rude and not friendly at all, seeming annoyed at all times. Don’t recommend at all, an insult to the true mexican cuisine.

The chicken isn't tasty, but the pulled beef burrito is very good; everything is also well-filled. The homemade lemonade is also very tasty.

It was very busy in the city today because of Red Bull, but the team didn't let it show! Despite the huge number of receipts, the staff remained cool. They worked incredibly well together and we had a delicious meal! Great place.

Staff are lovely and the food is so good. They offer a student discount to! I’m a picky eater so I get only a couple things in my burrito but it’s the nicest burrito place I found so far in Groningen and despite me not being able to eat certain foods they always have stuff I really like and the burrito is just as filling

The burritos are inedible. The rice is ULTIMATELY disgusting. The meat is ULTRA tough. The beans are NOT edible, that junk. The tomatoes are NOT edible either. I give this junk a 0/10 everywhere.

Food is pretty decent. Keep in mind, when ordering they will not listen to any dietary instructions that you give them.

Opened way too late and the lady didn't seem very enthusiastic. No greeting and a very long wait to be served, even though there were no customers in the store.

i have eaten this every time i have visited groningen. this time we took it to go. i had the veggie bowl with bulgar. the smokey pineapple chipotle salsa was delicious. it also was fresh after the bus ride.

They forgot our order, and when we ask when it will arrive, they are rude.

I don't like that they seem to literally spray the ingredients on the tacos; they are very sparsely filled and come across as very empty. And it's not the first time I've ordered here, and it has always been the same. 😐

The burrito was fine. The staff avoids eye contact and snaps at you, telling you where to go, while you come in from outside to clean up your tray and mess yourself. Next time, I'll just leave that outside. A little friendliness is part of the hospitality industry too.

Ice cold even though I only dropped it 9 minutes ago, so everything I ordered wasn't fresh

My experience was far from good. Dirty tables to start with, smeared dried sauce on the tables. Tried to clean it myself but the dried stuff stuck like glue. Staff came by to 'clean' the table next to ours and that explained why. Tables did not get cleaned but only the trash is taken. My tacos were so soggy they were drowning in liquid, not sauce, just liquid. They had disintegrated and were impossible to pick up. When i asked if this was normal a grumpy lady helped me took them from me and made new ones which were just as soggy, the pulled pork is more like pork soup and it instantly ruined the taco's again. The advice was to use cuttlery but that seemed pretty much impossible because even the paper underneath the tacos had disintegrated and i ended up eating paper. The company i was with had loaded nachos which looked much better. If i ever find myself in this unfortunate location again ill try those.

Long time no try such a tasteful burrito. The music is incredible, and as latin american I felt like listening the music of my childhood. The homemade lemonade is outstanding

First time at Salsa Shop without checking out a review. I had burritos and a quesadilla with a chocolate cookie on the side. The burritos were big and tasty. The chicken in the quesadilla could have used more sauce and been grilled longer. Overall, it was fine. The dessert was delicious too. I had no stomach problems the next day. Will definitely order again.

The only good Mexican food I've had in Europe (I've lived in Sweden, Portugal, and the Netherlands for the last two years). It was outstanding. I will be coming back to Groningen for this burrito. I did not take a photo because I was busy devouring it. 10/10.

Cold and overpriced burritos. I then called to say that the delivered burritos were cold, and the rude employee told me that I had to put them in the microwave myself.

I love this place. I have been ordering from here for quite a while now and the portion size is amazing for what you pay. I love the burrito bowls and frequently order the guacamole and chips with it too. I appreciate the fact that you can get smaller burritos with no rice in case you aren't that hungry as well. Overall, I consistently enjoy their food and I like visiting the store too as it is well organized, even with a sink to wash your hands after eating a burrito. As a student, I definitely recommend coming here for some good quality food that isn't overpriced and is filling (also because of their student discount which is always a plus). Another plus is that they are transparent about the calories and other macros that the food has, which makes it an easy way to order if you're bulking/on a diet. I also really appreciate the sauces that are distributed around the restaurant, it's always nice to not have to pay for sauce when it should be complementary.

First-in-first-out is not a priority for the staff. Tacos fall apart. The spiciness of the food is very disappointing (I had four stars but didn't notice this). The price-quality ratio is poor.

The restaurant is nicely decorated. The burrito was tasty and large, but cold and awkward to eat. Fortunately, there is a sink specifically for washing your hands.

What a terrible place! I can't give it 0 stars, otherwise I would. Three tacos for 18 euros—you'd expect them to be well-filled. These were well-filled, 85% of the sauce, in fact. I wasn't full at all after eating them. I feel ripped off; I wouldn't order from them.

The food tasted fine, but unfortunately it was lukewarm. It's a bit odd: it's either hot or cold, not somewhere in between. The hottest sauce is spicy, but nothing extreme. Perfect if you like a bit of heat. The prices are steep, though: over 80 euros for five burritos and a drink. That's just expensive.

Absolutely delicious Mexican food. We really enjoyed the quesadillas, tacos, and the bowl. The food is truly excellent for a takeaway. The interior is simple but cozy, and the food arrived quickly. I would definitely come back and try everything on the menu.

Great place to eat good burrito

We went to Salsaschop today. We received a voucher for a €1 burrito at Donar. The ladies couldn't process it in the system. According to the employee, the voucher had already been used. I explained that wasn't the case, as we'd received it last Tuesday. I returned the burrito; I'm not going to pay €15 when I have a voucher. I felt pretty ripped off at that moment. Anyway, the employee threw the burrito in the trash. If you're running a promotion, make sure everything is correct.

The food is delicious. But we had a voucher at Donar Groningen for a €1 burrito, but apparently it didn't work. So we returned the burrito because we didn't want to pay €14.95. So she took the burrito and threw it in the trash. And you have to speak English because 75% of the staff don't speak Dutch.

A usual Salsa shop restaurant, nothing special. Food is good, staff is friendly and usually quick.

We were really in the mood for spicy Mexican food again and so we gave the salsa shop a chance. Very tasty burritos, freshly prepared and friendly service. The atmosphere is also harmonious. The saying you should eat like no one is watching fits 😅

Salsa shop serves some of the best Mexican food in town! Their beef quesadilla is flavorful and crispy, while the loaded nachos come with a variety of delicious sauces. The staff is super friendly, making the experience even better. Plus, students get 20% off, absolutely a great deal for great food! Highly recommend!

Delicious food for a good price

It was very yummy but not really my style, but the restaurant wasn't very different or super special or anything so, I would recommend but it's not the best food in the world, I do love how you can choose all your topping and how they have tons of toppings to choose from!

Ordered for the first time, what a shock! 40 euros for 1 burrito and 2 small quesedillas, arrived really ice cold, not very strange after waiting an hour and a half and then also 6 euros delivery costs and 2 euros service costs.. HOW? not special in terms of taste, bland. I can't wrap my head around the fact that you pay 40 euros and still be hungry. They should be ashamed of themselves! Once, but certainly never again!

I really liked the burrito bowl. I'm always curious to try new things and this was something I never had before but I liked it a lot! The service was great as well and it's very cozy upstairs! The cutlery was a bit stained and the tables weren't that clean either but the food was really good! There is also a student discount here which I hadn't experienced at a restaurant before so that was really nice!

We got stone cold burritos. All sauces were also forgotten and so we had no crème fraiche with the quesadillas and no sauce with the burritos. Very dissatisfied, price is way too high for what you (don't) get. After an invitation I was able to eat for free on location and the staff was very friendly and the food was also much better.

Ordered from the Salsashop. And we'll never do that again. The food was cold, the sauces were forgotten and the food also tasted bland. Paid €52 for 2 (albeit mega) burritos and 2 (very small) quesadillas.

Food is very variable. Yesterday it was good and the food was severely substandard several times. Small portions for high amounts, a pity. Hopefully Salsa will pick itself up again like it did a few years ago.

Unfortunately, the order was not received properly, it was wet, cold and therefore a sticky mess. A shame because it would not have been due to the products themselves. Contacted by telephone, the money would be refunded. Have not received anything yet. Also no response to emails. Would have liked to try it again, but not. Waste of money.

I really liked the chicken quesadilla. I’ve also chosen the loaded nachos. Last time I had them the sour cream was good, but this time it was very liquid, and I’m not sure if that is how it is supposed to be. The staff is helpful and straightforward. The fact that there is a 20% discount for students is awesome too!

Recommended place to go to eat, good atmosphere and excellent service from the staff.

A year ago I wrote here that I thought the burritos were sparsely filled these days. In response I received that every effort is made to fill the burritos generously. That may be subjective, what is not subjective is that you advertise with 650 gram burritos. Now I have weighed the burritos at home the last few times and they never came close (500-550 grams), but today's burrito (12-10) was severely undersized, a paltry 419 grams: that is more than a third less than advertised!
