I advise people not to order a coffee frappé at Sam Sam. It is something sweet that comes out of a bag with hot water and whipped cream on top. I complained but received no response.

★★★★☆ We stopped here for a shandy and a wheat beer. Both were good and served quickly. The service was friendly and attentive. We especially liked the pleasant atmosphere, the comfortable noise level, and the outdoor seating – it's a very relaxing place to sit when the weather is nice. The prices are a bit higher, but the location and ambiance more than make up for it. Overall, a great place for a relaxing drink.

Beware of this rip-off! Small beer (0.25L) - €3.30 Large beer (0.4L) isn't on the menu, so you'd expect it to be around €5-€6, but it actually costs €8.20!! And then it's served in plastic cups... outrageous!

The food tastes good and the atmosphere is pleasant.

We had a bite to eat here on a spontaneous Thursday evening. Unfortunately, the experience was somewhat disappointing. We started with a baguette as an appetizer. We were only given a small bowl of herb butter with it, while we later noticed that other tables were also receiving curry sauce and garlic sauce. As a result, we ate a large portion of the baguette dry. When we pointed this out, the response we received was whether we might want the sauces with the main course later. In the end, we didn't see any sauces. We had ordered extra fries with the salmon because they were not included as standard. However, the fries arrived well before the main course, meaning they were already half cold by the time the salmon was finally served. Additionally, we had ordered a beef burger without a pickle, but unfortunately, one was included anyway. When paying the bill, we politely pointed out the above issues and asked if something could be done about them. The response was simply that "a note would be made of it." We found that disappointing, especially since several things went wrong during our visit.

Best chicken salad in Enschede, and great serving

Me and friends went there today for a little thursday evening borrel. We ordered beer, some cocktails and burger + bitterballen. Food was great for the price, and I felt like the Aperol was better and cheaper than surrounding restaurants/bars. The staff was very friendly. Great place to sit, eat, and enjoy the sun! There's an English menu available, too.

Tasty food, generous main courses. Salmon was very well cooked. Rib eye was also tender, but the bacon around the green beans could have had a bit more color. Gyoza were deep-fried, instead of steamed and pan-fried.

The terrace was full on this sunny day.

Yesterday I sat here in the lovely sun. Because of my gastric bypass surgery, I often eat protein. The yogurt bowl was on the breakfast menu, and it was now 2:30 PM when I asked if I could still order it. It was perfectly fine and very tasty. Unfortunately, it was too much, so when I asked if I could take it home (doggy bag), that was no problem either, and they arranged a bowl for me. Friendly staff, good service, helpful, a great spot for a sunny afternoon. Highly recommended! 😊

Cocktails were nice, one waiter was very attentive. When the bill came the machine said we got the "2nd cocktail is cheaper" deal that was active but the waiter actively asked for a minute, went back inside and then removed the discount and made up that it didn't apply like the menu said. Soured what wouldve been a good experience.

It's very pleasant to sit on the sunny terrace. The service is very friendly and attentive. There is a wide selection of food and drinks. Vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian options are also available. All allergies and intolerances are catered for.

Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. I ordered a well-done steak and received it rare. The meat was underdone and not at all what I requested. At this price, this is unacceptable. The onion soup was very weak—heavy and bland. Overall, it wasn't worth the price. I paid 73 euros for everything and sincerely regret it. At this price, you expect quality and professionalism. The service also fell short. While I was choosing my dish, the staff kept coming over, which was uncomfortable and gave me a feeling of pressure. I was passing through and in a hurry, so I didn't want to get into an argument there, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I don't recommend it.

The waitress with short hair was incredibly friendly and also said my clothes looked great. You made my day wonderful.

We asked someone on the street for advice on where to eat, and he referred us to Sam Sam. It was very quiet in the restaurant on a Tuesday evening. The atmosphere here is great! The ambiance is created by a large number of lights. We did notice, however, that these were all connected with loose terminal blocks/welding caps. It doesn't look fireproof at all! If the restaurant is full and something happens, the consequences are unimaginable. This really needs to be improved! We ordered drinks and some bread to start. The bread was very good, but it was served faster than the drinks. For the main course, we both had the venison steak. It was a bit on the small side, tasty but a bit overcooked. One person had an allergy, so the gravy couldn't be served. Unfortunately, they didn't offer an alternative, such as a bit more of the truffle sauce that was served with the salsify. The salsify with truffle sauce is excellent! The service was very friendly and attentive!

We ordered coffee and the vegan banana cake. The cake was extremely dry. When I inspected it closely, it was clearly dried out on one side and the back. When I complained, the employee clearly told me it was normal for it to be this dry, or I would just have to pay. What terrible service!

Shame on you SamSam!! On one of the nicest squares in the Netherlands, a cozy café...but those awful fake plants, that's just not on!?

Used to have a five star review for Sam Sam but I sadly don’t anymore. Quality of food had drastically worsened, especially when seated at the (much better place to sit) Proeflokaal Enschede

Sat here for a drink when all of a sudden some weirdo on the square throws a beer bottle our way. It smashed apart again some glass separator right in front of us which prevented anyone getting seriously injured, but the sound was crazy and everyone realized it could have been much worse. Anyhow. Shocked people and shattered glass everywhere (including on our table). Staff came by to ask what happened, literally looked at all the glass, then left. After ten minutes surrounded by shattered glass the vibe was long gone so I went inside to tell them that we were leaving and asked them for the bill. I also mentioned there were tiny pieces of glass everywhere (and that they were probably in our drinks too) and recommended to clear the tables around us (to prevent that people would accidentally swallow such a piece of glass). Worst money ever spent for a drink we didn't even drink for safety reasons. Not blaming the girl who served us, she was very nice. But when she went to tell her manager, I believe that person should have made a more professional call.

Been coming here for years with great pleasure, but the quality of the food is getting worse. Today the Poké Bowl. Everything that was supposed to be in it was in it, but ice cold and without taste. Ordered fries for the warmth afterwards. Also kindly shared our feedback with the waiter, but the fries were still on the bill!

The meal has not had any attention and is too small. You can expect rendang to have taste. You could smell the frying smell from the kitchen at the table. The price/quality is not right.

There are definitely recommended options for vegans. I particularly liked the ramen. The service was attentive and friendly, which made the visit even more pleasant. I would definitely come back.

Great restaurant with tasty food. I think the food was quite expensive for the portion I got. But as a vegan I can definitely recommend the Butter No Chicken. Food was really good, would visit again. Service was very good and they were real nice. :)

Beautiful place, especially when the sun is shining. We ordered two beers. While serving, the young lady dropped both glasses of beer from the tray and all the beer came over us and our clothes. She apologized and that's fine and that's how it should be. Then we ordered two beers again. I think that such a business should make a gesture when something like this happens. We don't need free beer or anything, but a small gesture of apology for being poured with beer would have been appropriate. Not really attentive.

Nice atmosphere to sit outside. Service was very good. The club sandwich was delicious and an interesting combo with the nachos. We will definitely come back and are already looking forward to it.

Cozy place, good atmosphere, it only took an hour before we got our food while for others it took about fifteen minutes and a glass was thrown in one go, but the waitress handled it well and the food was delicious, especially the twente.

Beautiful, large outdoor terrace in a lively area

We often sit on the terrace at SamSam on Saturday afternoons to have a cup of coffee. It has never been a problem to serve a (free) glass of tap water. Until today. You won't see us again.

I went there two times with friends and both times nobody came to serve us. The first time we sat there for more than 15min, the waitress knew we just sat down because we asked her to clean our table, and I thought they were taking long because it was a busy day, however, 15min later and nobody served us, so we decided to leave. The second time, there was barely anyone sitting at the place and yet, once again, we sat there for more than 10min and nobody came to serve us. As someone that has worked in the Horeca industry myself, I find this unacceptable, anywhere else the waiter or waitress is coming to the table within the first 5min of people sitting down. I hope they improve their service.

Had the Jumbo menu of the month of February here. It was a quiet evening, not many diners. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The food tasted great, portions also great.

We have been visiting SamSam regularly in recent years, but this time it was not really what it used to be. With our favorite dish (Loaded Rendang with sweet potato fries), the fries on the menu had been replaced by rice :( The quality of the burger also seemed to have deteriorated considerably, and the sticky lemon chicken with grilled vegetables and potatoes was no longer what it used to be, the potatoes and vegetables became soggy because there was way too much sauce in the bowl. They do have very tasty homemade ice tea Very unfortunate because we liked coming here

Unfortunately our experience at Sam Sam was anything but pleasant… The atmosphere was cold and the smell took some getting used to (musty). Unfortunately, the service wasn't convincing either because they forgot the order and spilled an iced tea on me. Afterwards it wasn't even cleaned properly and I wasn't served anything (disrespectful). And now we come to the worst part: the food!!! We had burgers with fries, at least that's what we think... The fries were okay. However, this burger had nothing to do with a burger. 18€ for a frozen piece of meat is the last thing, it wouldn't even be cooked properly. Not even the burger salad was good, it looked more like a McDonald's than a restaurant.

You can go here for an extensive menu including many vegan, dairy and gluten-free dishes. Very pleasant and above all very tasty. Their homemade IceTea is highly recommended and the brownie with a delicious cup of coffee should not be missed. Friendly and helpful staff. There is a nice, dynamic and cozy atmosphere on the terrace and in the shop.

I ordered the Café steak at proeflokaal Enschede, for which SamSam handles the food a few doors down the square. I received a plate with a reasonably sized black angus steak (about 10x8x4 cm), a lot of fries and a single strip of pickled grilled paprika for vegetables. It did look tasty enough. The strip of paprika turned out to be very necessary to give the meat at least some flavour. I've never tasted such a bland steak. The fries had more flavour than the steak. A waste of Black Angus. For €21,50 I would have expected flavour and a decent amount of vegetables. Two stars, because the meat was at least tender enough not to strain any jaw muscles and the fries were quite alright. Otherwise I would have gone down to 1. Samsam is definitely down the bottom of my list of places to eat in town, can't recommend the food.

Good food and really good homemade ice tea, atmosphere at the place was really nice, full of people but not too crowded. Unfirtunately ordered haloumi salad but instead of haloumi got some other basic cheese. Not the end of the world but wasnt perfect. Overall a really good experience.

Worst pizza I've ever eaten. You could have driven a nail into the wall with the pizza, the base and the crust were so hard. Inedible.

Cold pizza. Can be eaten in one bite. Fast service and your food very quickly, but that says enough about the quality. When you receive food quickly, it is impossible to prepare it fresh and quickly. Tastes like radiation and microwave.

Normally I never comment on food, but this time I would like to say it for the people who are planning to eat here (we also read the reviews, saw that they were not too good, but decided to give it a try anyway). chance of a nice spot in the sun). The waitress responded very politely and friendly: she indicated that they hear this often and that they get the pizzas here through another supplier. She indicated that she would pass on our feedback. All in all, a great response from the waitress (other waitresses who helped us were also very friendly), but perhaps it says enough that the pizzas are delivered here, which means they are so incredibly tasteless/not fresh/simply prepared as if they had already been prepared. day/few days and now they were quickly warmed up.

It's that you can't give less than 1 star, but what a worthless tent this is. Service just doesn't come to your table and if it were very busy I would understand, but there were at most 20 people! Never again for me.

Sam Sam isn't what it used to be. Unfortunately I have eaten here twice lately. After the first time I had food poisoning from the risotto and the second time was just really bad. The burger and pizza were very dry and tasteless. Nothing is freshly prepared here anymore.

We had a fantastic start to our team outing at SamSam, the staff was extremely helpful and thought along well in advance and on the day itself. The coffee and sweets were delicious and the 12 hours was tasty and enough (there was also an option to adjust the 12 hours to your liking)

Thee table we were seated at was dirty. I ordered a cheesecake, and I haven't had such a terrible dessert in a long time ... just butter and cookies🤢I'm sorry to pay for this abomination.

Took a cheesecake and iced tea. Cheesecake tasted very good. The cheese was not sour, which is perfect. The reason I am giving it 4, not 5 stars, is because the portion size is incredibly small for the cheesecake, probably the smallest in enschede. Iced teas were good in taste and portion.

Mega bad, really a very negative experience here. Order a bowl of vegetarian nachos, and a bowl arrives with all the minced meat on it. Said to be "vegetarian". If you order something vegetarian, it should not contain "vegetarian" minced meat. No one knows what it is, because there should be no (fake) meat on a vegetarian dish if you order it that way. This is clearly stated, and is simply responded nonchalantly with the answer that I just have to believe it. Vega is vega. No vegetarian meat, just without anything that looks like meat. Not understanding at all and 0 empathy. Really worthless. Also an attitude that you would hate from the so-called "manager". Never again.

On a beautiful day in the evening sun, we spontaneously decided to go onto the terrace. After a brief hesitation, we ordered the salami pizza and the haloumi salad. Unfortunately, extra tomatoes were not allowed on the pizza. But luckily the sun made up for that. A short time later the dishes were in front of us. What deceptions. The pizza was very dry and tough, and the salad also seemed to come from the ready-made department of the Jumbo. It was also very dry. The weizen tasted very good!

Waited forever for drinks, bad service

The Sam Sam in the heart of Enschede, located in the center on the large market square, can definitely be recommended if you have taken a day trip to Enschede and are tired in the evening and would like to have a little something to eat or drink. Enschede, a large city with around 155,000 inhabitants (for general information, a large city is from 100,000 inhabitants according to the UN) with a larger university, is a fairly young city, as the university already shapes the city. But Enschede is also worthwhile for tourists, as the two centrally located churches are well worth seeing, especially the basilica. I have already written a review about this, the interested reader should search here. Sam Sam is mainly frequented by young people. The service is friendly and attentive but not intrusive. That's a plus point. It's a bit vulgar to be forced to order drinks in other places. The coffee is acceptable, but nothing special. I ate a burger there, which was good in terms of quality, but also particularly expensive in terms of the quantities, I would almost say overpriced at almost 20 euros. You can have a good time because the music isn't too intrusive and you have a casual atmosphere with a pleasant atmosphere.

Leuk restaurant. Leuk en aardig personeel en natuurlijk lekker eten. Ze hadden nog plek voor 3 personen zonder te reserveren op een vrijdagavond.

De burger is geen aanrader het vlees is niet perse lekker gekruid, broodje was droog en de burger was ook klein, paar patatjes(wel lekkere patat) en de salade was 1 plakje tomaat en dat voor 18 euro. Verder heb ik niks te klagen de service was super snel en vriendelijk

Bij Sam Sam is het altijd goed vertoeven. Of je nou ontbijt, lunch, diner of wat hapjes besteld, het is altijd lekker en goed. Ook voor glutenvrij een goede plek! Eten is verzorgd en mooi opgemaakt. Voor zo even koffie, thee, bier, fris of een borrel ben je ook op de goede plek, het hele jaar door. Bij mooi weer lekker buiten genieten van de levendigheid op de Oude Markt. Is het wat minder mooi dan kan binnen knus samen zijn. Personeel is altijd vriendelijk, verzorgd en correct. Heb je van de kaart afwijkende wensen, dan wordt meegedacht en is er altijd een mooie oplossing voorhanden. Sam Sam moet je doen als je in Enschede bent!
