Everything was tip top and very tasty

We had dinner here on a Friday night. The food was really delicious, the bread with white cheese, herbs and walnuts, the kebabs, the dips and the rice. But the service was really disappointing. When we entered, everyone was looking at their phones. There was no smile and it took a long time for the dessert menu to come and the dessert order (faloodah and saffron ice cream, also really fantastic!) to be taken. I almost felt embarrassed to ask for something. Such a shame! If I had felt a bit more welcome, this would have been a 10/10 experience. Now the feeling is more mwah.

Best iranian food in Amsterdam. Kebabs and stews are amazing. The ambience and design and music are the only downsides of this place.

We were at this restaurant with friends tonight and all the food was super tasty and we had a great time. We have been customers of this restaurant for years and it is absolutely the best restaurant in the Netherlands. The staff are always friendly and kind and the name of the restaurant really suits them (The Kind Press).

Solid Iranian food with large portions and friendly service De Aardige Pers (Saman) offers a solid Iranian dining experience in Amsterdam. The portions are generous, and the flavors are authentic—perfect if you're looking for a hearty meal. The rice and kebabs were particularly delicious, though the bread felt a bit off—it looked more like a tortilla than the traditional Iranian bread I was expecting. I went with a vegetarian friend, and she had several options on the menu. The staff was polite and friendly, though a bit more attentiveness and smiling wouldn’t hurt. The prices also felt a little bit high for what we received. Overall, it’s a great spot for flavorful Iranian food with good portion sizes, and I’d recommend it if you're in the area!

Ate here yesterday. Staff was really unfriendly, the place was quite dirty, I think I saw a mouse running through the restaurant. I was shocked by that. Not a nice or pleasant experience.

Came here with high expectations but sadly I didn’t like any of the dishes. The prices are really high and the quality does not live up to it. For example the stew, it costs 17 euros but its a bowl the size of my hand and it tasted like nothing. The meat was ok but could be way better. Not worth the 54 euros it cost tho..

Food was rich and nice tasting, staff was very nice. We tried fenesjoon which tasted amazing but a little burnt and the kebab koobide which was good. They also gave us a little appetizer which came free of charge and was very nice, warm bread with some greens and cheese

Da wir den Iran schon einige Male besucht haben, und die lokale Küche dieses wunderschönen Landes sehr lieben, versuchten wir dieses Lokal. Und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Essen (wir assen Aloo Esfenaj - Lamm mit Dörrpflaumen) war sehr gut, der Reis mit Safran sowieso (der ist im Iran immer super fein). Dazu tranken wir einen Rosé-Wein, der könnte in der Tat besser sein, aber er liess sich gut trinken (immerhin gab es Wein.....). Die Bedienung war ok - es gibt noch etwas Luft nach oben. Aber zusammengefasst - wir finden die 5 Punkte wurden verdient!

The food was exquisite and the staff were super nice, it's the best international Persian restaurant I've ever been, also the the design was really culturally accurate and cozy.

I have been visiting De Aardige Pers — or Saman Restaurant, as it is known in Persian, since 2009. Among Amsterdam’s Persian community, it holds a reputation as the finest place for authentic food, a reputation it fully deserves. Yet, despite the beauty of its small, warmly decorated space, the service has always fallen short. While the staff are always friendly, they are highly inattentive, often requiring guests to walk to the register simply to place an order or request the check. Given the modest size of the restaurant, scarcely half a dozen tables, the persistent lack of attentiveness over the years remains surprising. I think their management could do better in their hiring and training. As a result, I only visit when necessity dictates: when hosting guests from abroad on a Monday, the day when few other Persian restaurants in Amsterdam remain open.

Im trying this for the first time and I have to say they have a wide menu with lots of options. The plates are satisfying and big portioned. I really liked the new taste this cuisine has. Staff are very friendly and helpful

An okay experience, but a bit disappointing overall. We visited this Persian restaurant for the first time and while the food was decent, the service left much to be desired. At times it was quite slow and not very attentive. After finishing our meal, we waited 10–15 minutes for someone to check in or offer dessert, but no one came—even though they brought us a container to pack leftovers, which made it clear we were done. We eventually went up to the counter ourselves to ask for tea, but were told there was none left—only coffee—which was disappointing. Little touches make a big difference, especially for first-time visitors. For instance, they gave complimentary mint to the table next to us, but not to us. Overall, it was an okay meal, but the lack of attention and small oversights made the experience underwhelming.

Last Saturday evening I had dinner at Saman restaurant. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was very disappointing. • The koobideh kebab was burnt and did not have the right taste or quality. • The barg kebab was extremely thin, more like something for a child's portion (about 100 grams). • Prices were high in relation to quality. • The lady who took the orders came across as very arrogant and lacked any form of hospitality or a friendly smile. • The zeytoon parvardeh was made from old and extremely soft olives, which made the taste unpleasant. At the restaurant: If you choose to prepare meals with cheap and low quality ingredients, and make the portions of barg and chenjeh kebabs as small and thin as possible, you will lose customers. This is not a successful strategy for a restaurant that wants to serve authentic Persian food!

Back again after some time, food was ok noting special compared to other Persian restaurants in Amsterdam. Disappointing that the ordered dishes didn’t have te same presentation than the menu card. I think that’s not ok for a restaurant. The dessert was disappointing to, (se picture) I can buy this in any supermarket… bad! Don’t like to give low ratings but consider this as a positive suggestion and feedback Would love to give more stars on the atmosphere to. but it’s a bit simplistic, whit those big windows whit no curtains or nothing . A more Persian atmosphere would be better. In Iran the restaurants I visited have far nicer interiors. Overall more the vibes of a fast food place than a restaurant. All of this is my personal impression of course

The food was too mild in taste and not really what it should be. The real disappointment was the service. After just over an hour we were asked to leave because our table had to move to the next one in 10 minutes. We had just finished eating and would have liked another dessert, but instead we had to hastily make room for another one, even though we had a reservation and it didn't say anywhere that this was for a limited time. Deeply disappointed. Not the Persian hospitality the people are known for.

The restaurant, Cozy, is small in size and these are European restaurants... I reserved a table through Google and went an hour before my appointment and found it reserved in my name... The reception is wonderful, the service is wonderful, the food is delicious, the shabzi is fantastic, fantastic... Amazing, amazing.

Food was very very average. There was two/ three pieces of meat in each stew dish which is a rip off for €16 per dish in a very unassuming establishment. Bread served with the food was tortillas from the supermarket and they had the audacity to lie about it, CLEARLY NOT HOMEMADE. Was very processed tasting/ smelling/ feeling/ looking. I have had fresh Iranian bread many many times and this was 100% not fresh or made in house. If their bread is not fresh, I expect them to just tell the truth and then I would have ordered something else. Service was very slow and generally not attentive. Save your money and go elsewhere

Probably the worst koobideh kebab i’ve ever had. First off, they served the kebab with some sort of flat bread which tasted like something you get off the shelf at the supermarket. The kebab was absolutely disgusting, full of fat and onions. The restaurant reeked of sewage smell. Staff were quite friendly though. Not going back.

The food had no authentic Persian spices. There was no spice at all. The lamb didn’t seem like it was grilled, it had boiled consistency. Service was like walking into the Twilight Zone.

Deliciosa comida muy bien presentada. Obviamente popular entre los residentes locales que eran tan acogedores como el personal. Un lugar muy agradable con un ambiente animado.

After visiting many Persian restaurants several times... I can compare quality and quantity. I'm shocked at how expensive I got out of this. The flavors were ok, service was friendly and that somewhat balanced the experience, but you still come somewhere because the food is nice and tasty, which is what I was looking for but didn't find here. The prices do not reflect the culinary experience I experience at other restaurants as well as a different atmosphere. If I have to be more specific, I thought the chicken skewer was grilled just a little too long and the kubideh is much better elsewhere (more tasty). Now taste is subjective so it is crucial that you have had everything in terms of places and the experience also builds up your environment. All in all, the price is way too high for two people who want to eat well.

The only persian restaurant in Amsterdam that has maintained the quality of the food and services at a high level. It's totally recommended.

We visited this restaurant as a small group (6 people) and although the dishes were tasty, the experience was disappointing. The servers (two young women) were uninterested in their work and not very helpful - service was slow and rushed at the same time. We meant to share several dishes, but it was difficult because of the way they were served, and it seemed to irritate the employees when asking for extra plates or napkins. Although I enjoyed the food, I don't think I would go again or recommended to my friends. I go to a restaurant to celebrate food and try something new - not to feel like an inconvenience.

As you would expect when ordering from a Persian restaurant, I went with kebab, sabzi, and gheimeh. The kebab was excellent—juicy and flavorful. The sabzi, however, could have been better, while the gheimeh was quite good. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was solid, making for an overall enjoyable dining experience.

I've been to a lot of Persian restaurants - Saman is my number 1 in terms of taste! Really everything was just perfect 👌🏻 from the starter to the dessert, there is passionate quality here. Absolutely recommended.

The food tastes good, the drinks are quite nice and different from other restaurants. Services can be better with more smiling and hospitality which we missed during our visit; everyone was in a rush even to listen to what we need. The place can be quite noisy as it is relatively small with many tables. Prices are slightly above average for the taste which is comparable to other places.

I recently dined at a charming, albeit small, establishment that left me with mixed feelings. On the plus side the food was absolutely superb. The chef's creativity and expertise were evident in every dish, making every bite a delight. It's clear that a lot of passion and skill goes into the cooking, and I found myself becoming a fan of their culinary approach. However, the overall service was not good at all. Although one friendly gentleman as a waiter provided excellent service, the rest of the service was disappointing. In fact, it was one of the worst experiences I've had in the Netherlands. The restaurant itself is quite small and feels quite cramped, which can make for an uncomfortable dining experience, especially during peak times. Furthermore, the toilet facilities left a lot to be desired. Using the men's restroom would cost you one health point - I would rather drive 1.5 hours home than take the risk. In summary, although the culinary offering is top quality and the chef deserves high praise, there are significant areas for improvement in the areas of service and maintenance of the facilities. If you prioritize exceptional food and can ignore the service and space limitations, this place might be worth a visit. Otherwise, you may find the overall experience disappointing.

We celebrated Yalda Night at Saman Restaurant, and everything was absolutely perfect. From the warm and respectful hospitality, accompanied by delightful Yalda-themed surprises and treats, to the incredibly delicious dishes that reminded us of the nostalgic flavors of traditional Iranian homes. The desserts, including saffron ice cream and carrot juice with ice cream, were exceptional. After many years, we finally experienced an outstanding Iranian restaurant, and we will certainly return. I highly recommend visiting this place to enjoy a memorable evening with your loved ones.

We enjoyed the starter, fresh green vegetables with olives, walnuts and feta cheese . The main dish and dessert also were wonderful but in compare of Hamburg the portions were quite smaler and more expensive.

Went there for dinner with a couple of friends . Really nice flavours and the quantity was also quite sufficient. We tried the saffron rice dish with orange peels and chicken thigh. Kebabs and the pistachio ice cream-faloodeh desert were also great.

Saman restaurant was a wonderful experience! I have tried different Iranian food in my travels to more than 10 countries, but I have never found Iranian food as delicious and excellent as here. We had spinach plum stew, leaf kebab and pounded kebab, everything was fresh and amazing. Their staff are very friendly and kind. I came here from Germany and my friend from America, and we were really happy with our choice. If you are in Amsterdam, definitely visit here, you won't regret it!

We had the mixed grill platter, and it was delicious, but the service was not great. I felt like the staff were not very enthusiastic, and the order took a long time. Overall, though, the food was good and worth trying.
