Sanks Sushi in Osdorp-Midden

I visited here again after a very long time. They have only made a few minor changes to the menu. For instance, I was able to order the sake flambé nigiri as a portion of 6 pieces. Highly recommended. Well-sauced fish. I also had a sushi roll with eel on the outside. That was disappointing. At other places, you get eel all over your roll. This time, there was only a piece of eel at the top of the roll. The salmon roll was fine; I thought I had a crunchy salmon roll with fried onions on top, but that wasn't the case—it was my ordering mistake. The service has also changed; the lady was very polite. I must honestly say that I am disappointed with the eel roll. I think I will come back after a while to see how it is. That is why I am not changing my rating yet. =========================== After the experience below, I visited again for a second chance. This time there was different staff at the counter taking the orders. I had to wait a long time for my order. But the sushi was tasty. The cream cheese on one of the sushi rolls was generously topped. I got diarrhea again a few hours later. Even though I had different sushi this time, it could still have been a hygiene issue (poor frying oil?) or that I've become allergic to something. ======== Get sushi here again. The sushi was good in terms of size, lots of garnish. I am not satisfied with this visit. But if I explain why, Google blocks my review. I got sick from the fish there. I think it has something to do with hygiene. I will come back soon for a second chance. For now, I'm taking off a star. ====== Just ordered sushi here. Walked into the shop at 5:00 PM. Had to wait 5 minutes before I could order because the person taking the order was busy with something else. My order was supposed to take 30 minutes to prepare. In the meantime, 4 customers came in and left again because they had to wait a long time. The sushi chef was sweating; he was putting together 3 more orders for me all by himself. Eventually I received the sushi. The sushi was fresh and tasted good. Points for improvement: - If you know there will be busy times, plan accordingly so that the waiting time per customer is shorter. Differentiate between online orders and in-store orders. - The nigiri sushi was a large ball of rice with a large piece of fish. I have been to Japan and ate sushi at a sushi emperor. Good sushi has a small ball of rice and a large piece of fish. - If you are a one-person team and want to try different types of sushi, you have to order a lot. Certain sushi comes in sets of 8.

I'm really done with this place. Orders are literally always delivered late, and when the food finally arrives, it is often not even complete. As if that weren't enough, I even found a hair in my food once. Unfortunately, this isn't something that happened just once; it has occurred multiple times by now. I gave it another chance each time, but my patience has truly run out. On top of that, the staff is incredibly rude and completely unfriendly when you have a complaint. I’ve had enough. I will never order from here again and absolutely cannot recommend it.

I don't understand how they got those stars, but what I do know for sure is that it is absolutely not right. I deeply regret not reading the reviews before ordering. It has been almost two hours since I placed my order and I still haven't received it. I have been trying to call them the whole time, but they aren't answering. When the order finally arrived, the shrimp turned out to be raw as well. Wasted money! This is truly terrible service. Very disappointing!

I am very dissatisfied with my order. The delivery time via Thuisbezorgd indicated 45 minutes to a maximum of one hour, but in the end, I had to wait well over 2 hours for my food. While waiting, I tried to contact the restaurant several times (about five times), but no one answered. When the order finally arrived, the quality was very poor. The sushi was partially warm, while the shrimp was cold and tasteless. Out of concern for possible spoilage, I had to throw the order away, as I did not want to take any risks with hot fish products. All in all, a very disappointing experience. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again.

The shop is very dirty. We wanted to eat here. The grumpy woman working at the cash register said, "Clean it yourselves." I think you should teach your staff some manners.

The staff was very rude and the restaurant was extremely dirty. There were even dead flies on the table, which is absolutely unacceptable in a restaurant. When we politely asked if the table could be cleaned, we were told in a very unfriendly manner that it was already clean. During this situation, employees, accompanied by a family member of one of them who was not employed there, approached us in an intimidating manner and made insulting remarks. The staff's attitude was disrespectful and completely uncustomer-oriented. Furthermore, I believe the staff should focus more on hygiene and service quality, instead of talking loudly to each other in the restaurant. The general hygiene of the restaurant also left much to be desired. I am of the opinion that the owner urgently needs to provide better training to the staff regarding customer service and cleanliness. This was a very disappointing experience, and I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant. Additionally, I would like to kindly request the owner to review the camera footage from May 13, 2026, between 8:00 PM and 8:45 PM.

Super delicious and very friendly staff! Delivery is also right on time. The crispy chicken and ebi are especially recommended, but there are plenty of vegetarian options too. You also get extra sauces and such on the side. In short, a real treat!

Totally unreachable phone number. You really should answer the phones instead of refusing to answer. When we order and pay for something, you need to be reachable for us.

I placed an iftar order a little over an hour in advance to ensure it arrived on time. At 5:20 PM, I placed my order and received an update that it would arrive at 7:40 PM. This is 2 hours and 20 minutes late, which I find absurdly long. When I saw this, I immediately called them, and after about five calls, a woman answered. I asked to cancel the order, and after "discussing" it, she said she would cancel it. Two hours passed, and still no cancellation. In the meantime, I called numerous times, but no one answered. After 7:40 PM, it suddenly said my order had supposedly been delivered (which was supposedly canceled). Nothing ever arrived, and I haven't heard from the company again. It's fun ripping people off during Ramadan, thanks! 👍🏽

Horrible service. Courier arrived at my door with nothing but a Miso Soup in his hands after waiting 90 minutes for my order saying that the rest was going to arrive shortly after. WHAT KIND OF RESTAURANT SENDS HALF THE ORDER IN ADVANCE? I kept contacting the restaurant with no luck only for them to finally answer after 3 hours saying it must have been a mistake but now they won't give me food because it's too late. Yes, of course it's late, if you had answered when I started calling and messaging it wouldn't be late! Anyways, still waiting for my refund and extremely disappointed with the service and communication.

When it's busy, the staff turns off their phones. The pickup time was 15 to 45 minutes, which is why we wanted to cancel our order, which wasn't possible. The staff indicated they turn off their phones when it's busy. Poor service, not recommended.

Truly shockingly bad!! I ordered sushi yesterday, but this was a huge disappointment. The quality and taste were absolutely terrible. The sushi was sloppily cut, not tightly rolled, and fell apart completely. The flavor was bland and unnatural; even supermarket sushi is of better quality. It tasted absolutely awful. The chicken satay was without a doubt the worst thing I've eaten in a long time. It had a pungent, foul odor and a strange, soft texture that was absolutely unacceptable. After one bite, I immediately felt nauseous and threw it away. This not only felt disgusting but also downright irresponsible to serve. It completely deprived me of any confidence in the freshness and food safety. Furthermore, my drink was forgotten with my order. After calling, it was delivered later, but that obviously doesn't make up for the poor dining experience. I will definitely not be ordering from this place again. This was the first and also the last time I ordered from here. The combination of bad sushi, extremely dirty chicken satay and sloppy handling means that I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I live in Amsterdam West myself; Sanks Sushi is 7 minutes away from here. I had to wait 2 hours for my food. I called them 7 times, but no one answers. Terrible place, last time here.

Great food. I'll never order from them again. I've gotten the wrong order a few times. Once, I was supposed to get a discount code for the wrong order, but I'm still waiting for one. Another time, the new order was brought. I called and they said they'd call back... well, 35/40 minutes later, the food suddenly showed up at my door while they were still supposed to call back, so I had no idea. BUT, I had to return my old order. Well, after waiting half an hour without a call back, I'm going to eat it, especially since I wasn't told I wasn't supposed to. I did get it eventually, but oh well. Service is really lacking, and the correct order even more so. The food is good, but that's also the case at other places where you get your order right.

Sanks Sushi in Osdorp is a real mess. Ordering food takes an hour and a half. Then they tell you the kitchen is closed. Bizarre, bizarre, bizarre. And they're rude too. Very poor service, unfriendly operator. They won't even accept their mistake, while people have to wait from 10:30 PM to 12:35 AM to get the manager on the phone. It's ridiculous. I will never order or get anything from Sanks Sushi in Osdorp, Amsterdam, again. Very, very, very, bad.

Sanks is and will always be my favorite!!! I always have food delivered, so I can't say much about the atmosphere. I popped in once, and it looked very cozy. The staff is super friendly. They were quick to respond, very professional, and made sure to make things right. We gave it a second try and the sushi was excellent, fresh, tasty, and beautifully prepared. I don't know where to begin. I wouldn't call this sushi myself. The rice wasn't good. The salmon and tuna looked like they were cut by a child. "Sushi" was thrown together very quickly and sloppily. Tasteless and far from sushi quality. This was a delivered order.

I ordered online from Sanks Sushi Amsterdam, and the delivery took a while, but it was still within the expected timeframe. I ordered two poke bowls, and they were fresh, well-prepared, and delicious. Everything looked neat and tidy. The price is reasonable, although I think it's a bit pricey for what you get. All in all, I'll definitely order again if you're looking for a fresh and delicious meal!

We picked up food today, and it was okay, but I expected more. What I found annoying is that when someone asks a question, the first response is something like "Hey." So, customer service needs some work.

Osdorp isn't far from where I live, so I find it very strange that my food is completely cold and mixed up. I find this so annoying. I also contacted a lady at the counter who also said the delivery person was on the way and she would let me know, but that never happened. It's a shame, people. I would never order from here in my life, nothing but hassle. The date is 4-08-25 00:45. PS: I clearly indicated that the courier should bring change, and the courier simply said: "The cashier didn't give me change. Is it possible to pay by card?" What a stupid question, otherwise I would have already ordered online via the account and opted not to pay in cash, and the courier literally said: "I'm going to call." The owner can't get his employees to fix it.

We placed a pickup order at the restaurant. When we arrived at the agreed-upon time to pick up the order, they couldn't find our food. They spent over ten minutes searching for the order, thinking it had been taken by one of their delivery drivers. They couldn't find it and concluded they'd forgotten to prepare it. We had to wait another 15 minutes for the order. In total, we waited over an hour. I wasn't even offered a drink or any compensation while waiting. This isn't the first time we've had issues with an order. Last time, we had to wait two hours for the order to be delivered to us, which is a two-minute walk from the restaurant. So, we decided to order takeout this time. But that didn't work either. Worst of all, the person who spoke to me didn't bother being friendly or offering any compensation for the situation. Edit: After our review, we were contacted directly by the restaurant. They were eager to improve their service after our experience and even offered us a nice discount code as compensation. That was much appreciated.

I waited more than 2 hours for my food. Once it arrived. The food was ice cold. Just not edible. Why do I only get 1 soy sauce? When I ordered for 50 euros. I ordered extra sauce. I clearly stated no ginger and no wasabi. I do get that extra but not the soy. Eating sushi that is ice cold without soy. Too bad, waste. Given the reviews you have received in the past few days? Que pasa man… the food is just not tasty. Really too bad… I'm annoyed because I know you can do better. Craving food is gone also because it took so long.

Delivery didnt even arrive!! We ordered it at 9:30pm, and waited 2 hours to call the restaurant to be told it was 5 minutes away, we then waited another hour and called about 20 times and every call was ignored. We spent £40 on sushi for it to not even come and be lied to about when it is arriving??? Because of this we missed 2 of our trains and had no food so we went the whole night without eating. Thanks Sanks sushi for your diabolical service and rude, unhelpful staff. I really enjoy spending my money without receiving anything in return and waste my evening calling up your restaurant! I’ve attached the proof of (just some) of the calls to the restaurant that were blatantly ignored. One time throughout these phone calls they actually picked up, only to hear my voice asking where our food was and of course they hung out and continued to ignore the further calls. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. Shame on them. We are still expecting a refund!

I received nothing and I have not had any contact. Too bad, because we often order here. There were some points for improvement before, but now it seems to be going downhill. Perfect. Didn't have to wait long and could eat inside. The fried shrimp was unexpectedly amazing, but my favourite, the unagi maki, was also really good.

Update 3 years later: Last time I wrote a review was 3 years ago (see below). Now I write it again: I am still very satisfied and happy. Only place where I order sushi when I'm hungry again. The savings program also keeps me as a customer and I like that. Thank you. I have ordered from Sanks Sushi 4 times now. That means I am very satisfied with their food, delivery and service. It is also very nice that you can order directly from the website and they do not charge delivery costs! But I also live nearby.
