Sao Paulo Café in Overtoomse Sluis

I was visiting from New York and happened to stumble upon this gem on their Salsa night! The bar tenders were super friendly and made great conversation. The music was on point and I even got to chat with the owner for a bit, lovely person. If you’re in Amsterdam and want to catch a vibe, I would definitely check this spot out!

The Cafe has a big dance floor as it also offers dance classes/workshops. We came after the classes were finished, and we had a lot of fun!!! The owner, bartenders and dj were so nice. Playing the music we wanted, good cocktails at good prices and it's not crowded. So a good option if you prefer a bit of more space.

Great venue. We went on Monday night when there is not normally salsa dance but the guy behind the bar put some fantastic tunes for us to dance. We loove the Caipirinhas! We would definitely come back another night!

Unfortunately I didn't go into this establishment but the pics are from the neighborhood area. (That's the reason for 3 stars) Beautiful place in the city and good entrance to Vondelpark. Always enjoy this walk and part of the city. Will always come back to the area and enjoy the beauty. Highly recommend.

Salsa bar with very little movement on a Friday evening. Name sounds Brasilian, but we were the only Brasilians there. No samba music, mainly salsa. A salsa dance bar is a better description.

S middags een dansschool, s avonds een café. Sinds een paar weken heb ik hier elke maandag les en het is echt genieten; zalige Latijnse hitjes, goede sfeer en je werkt beetje bij beetje aan een goede basis salsa pasjes. Ik zal Sao Paolo café zeker aanraden!
