Saravanaa Bhavan Den Haag in Wijk 28 Centrum

I found this place on Uber Eats one day, with a familiar ring to it. Its a popular south indian food chain and serves very authentic food. I cannot comment on the service and atmosphere as I have only ordered food from here via Uber Eats. However, as an Indian I can say this is by far the most authentic indian food I have had in Den Haag. They sell south as well as north indian food and I liked all of their items I have tried so far. A personal bummer for me is that this is a pure vegetarian place, of course it is heaven for most indian people but their high quality and authenticity makes me crave for similarly made non vegetarian indian food. North indian thali and the rolls are my favorites!

Visited sarvanaa bhavan den haag many times, here and in Amsterdam. The taste is consistent and the food has always been amazing. But the pricing is relatively high. Furthermore, service is good and waiting times are generally understandable. The interior and cleanliness of the place could be improved slightly to better the ambience.

Craving for Some Authentic South Indian Food and planned to go here. Ordered Sambhar-Vada, Chana Bhatura and Masala Dosa. Sambhar and Choley were served Luke-Warm as they were directly given from the Bain-Marie as told by the restaurant manager. Asked them to warm it up for me. Vada felt like Idly and wasnt tasty enough. Bhatura was tasteless and Oily.. Chana was not like staple Cholley.. and came like 5 spoons, not enough for a big sized bhatura they serve. Masala Dosa was okayish, and came with tiny amount of Samabhar. Chutneys were nice. Price - 4/5 Service - 3/5 Cleanliness - 3/5 This Place is not recommended :( Suggestion: Veg-Nation at Utrecht and Anjappar at Amsterdam Serves Real Authentic and Delicious South Indian Food.

Bad experience. AC was not working…it was very stuffy inside…. Service was mediocre…food was pretty average…and pricey

In my opinion this is one of the better restaurants in The Hague. Al litlle underrated, so i reccomend tourists, and EX-PATS to visit this place if you like genuine indian food, gooed service and hospitality. Indian food like you had it at home and … better.

One star. I asked for tap water and the waiter said they don’t have it. Then I asked again do you mean you just want us to pay money for the bottled water or? The answer was yes. For god’s sake just bring people tap water when they ask for it especially if they already ordered lots of food and drinks. Hygiene in the toilets was absolutely not acceptable. Not going there ever again.

Had a nice lunch here, food was great! The coziness and atmosphere are hard to find due to the rather simple interior, but the food is of course the most important!

Sambhar and chutneys are tasty and authentic. You can take as much as you like, of course without wasting any. Dosa was decent and crisp. The seat and ambience are also nice, nice cushioned sofa chairs. Unlike the saravana Bhawan in Belgium, which has the typical South Indian steel tables

1. The waiter said they don’t have regular tap water. He asked us to buy the bottle water 2. We ordered the mini meals , we were told they only have full meals, even though the dishes in the meals plate were the same, he wanted to charge us for the full meals. 3. The gulab jamun in the meals had a piece of plastic floating in the sugar syrup. When I asked him about it he said “it’s from the Haldiram’s box” and shrugged it off like it’s nothing. Summary - I wouldn’t waste my money here again. And wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

I have been to saravana bhavan couple of times now. Food is quite underpar, I had a poori set, the bread and curries look great on a platter only to taste awful, neither authentic nor fresh. I have been to Saravanabhavan in india, honestly much better. I also had a plate of vada, horrible horrible food. Vada was soggy and it was definitely NOT soggy from the sambar. The sambar was poured fresh on it and the vada was most likely either old or pre-moisted so that it could be added to curd/sambar. Quite a big let down, please don't serve this and spoil the reputation of South Indian Cusine. IMPROVEE!!!!

Service was quick . Food was good. Toilets were clean. South Indian food was great. North Indian curries were below average in taste as well as presentation. They made something else instead of paneer labaabdaar 😛

We had dinner with a few friends, and had a very nice experiance, a warm welcome, and the most fresh indian food you can imagine. I am a cook myself ( not indian) but i know how a good curry taste experinance must be like. Sublime genuine indian last courses as well!

My staple dosa place, authentic food, economic price, quite easily reachable. I always order masala dosa, and idli, and the taste is so good that it reminds me of India.

I would like to share my disappointing experience at Saravanaa Bhavan. Despite the high prices, the quality of both the food and service was severely lacking. Firstly, the unfriendliness of the waitress stood out. She responded curtly when we ordered in English and rudely said she spoke Dutch. This gave us an unpleasant first impression. We ordered four appetizers. I found the Panneer 64 tasteless, so I asked for mint or coconut chutney. To my surprise, they said they didn't have mint green chutney, which is actually a standard accompaniment for dosa. Instead, we only received fried paneer with ketchup. For a 12-euro appetizer, I expected more than just ketchup. When the main courses arrived, my Mysore Masala Dosa (11.75 euros) was missing. I had to wait 10 to 15 minutes and ask someone where my food was, only to discover that the kitchen had simply forgotten my order. Additionally, we didn't receive green/mint chutney with our dosa, which was very disappointing. Furthermore, for 14 euros, I expected a larger portion of vegetarian biryani. Although it was tasty, the portion size and the way it was served were disappointing. Besides the poor service and the forgotten dish, there was a clear lack of customer friendliness. The hygiene was also subpar: dirty glasses, unclean cutlery, and too few napkins. Moreover, no one even asked if everything was satisfactory. The establishment looked unkempt both inside and outside, which is unacceptable for a restaurant on Noordeinde. This was the last straw for me, and I will not be returning. I have been to this restaurant a few times in a short period. The first time, I was well served by an Indian or Tamil lady, but the gentleman who is likely always there, along with the lady present today, provided disappointing service after the first visit. I wanted to give them multiple chances, but this stops for me now. In contrast, I had a much better experience at Saravanaa Bhavan in Wembley, England. The service, ambiance, and food there were excellent. This restaurant on Noordeinde could learn a lot from its counterpart in Wembley. I hope that Saravanaa Bhavan urgently improves its service and hygiene.

Very bad service… they lie to the customer. I ordered food online and when i got to know that my order is getting delayed, they said food is ready but when i checked with online partner they said they got late response from this restaurant. I had to wait for 2 hours to get my order. This is first and last order from this for sure.

Unfortunately, this place isn't what it used to be, we went in 2022 and the usual friendly welcoming staff are gone, they were obviously short staffed, our order was wrong and they refused to serve tap water, when this was always previously supplied. Sad because rather than them making more money, I believe they loose many previously regular customers - we haven't been back since 😉 Old review... Shortly after opening, when we discovered this place, it immediately became one of our favourite places to eat out in The Hague! Great food, friendly staff, really fast service and clean. Love the paper roast Dosa and paratha - lekker! 😋

Absolutely abysmal service. Waited for almost 20 mins, but no one even bothered to come and provide the menu. Had to request for the menu atleast 3 times. It's not like the restaurant is full. It's was less than half occupied Don't recommend anyone to come here and waste their time. If in Hague just try a different restaurant or a different cusine because this isn't a representation of Indian service nor is it a representation of the Dutch Hospitality

Authentic south indian in dishes

Really really nice food a good unique experience.

Went for lunch on Saturday with friends. The waitress took time to explain to us and answer all our questions to help us make a choice. She was very patient. They have so many dishes to choose from. Menus are all affordable from 10-20 euros and taste was really great! Loved mango lassi too. Definitely come back and recommend to friends 👍🏼

We got the pav bhaji dosa - but it wasn’t crispy and there was hardly anything pav bhaji about it. It was just vegetables inside. The rava dosa was good, but the green chutney wasn’t flavourful. The sambar was tasty. We also got the gobi 65 which was just fried pieces of cauliflower served with ketchup - not worth the price. Overall, the food was slightly underwhelming and overpriced.

Very, very good food, especially the idli are fantastic. Would definitely come again. Condition is also very nice and polite, she also gives good advice if you can't decide. Also lots of vegan options.

Incredibly tasty, good vegan and vegetarian food as well. Would definitely come here more often if I lived in Den Haag. The lovely woman taking the orders and serving us recommended me the Dosa and it was perfect. Super delicious.

I have visited several Saravana Bhavans and the quality of the food was generally good. However, the famous Masalatea was not particularly appealing. The service staff seemed disinterested and unmotivated. The small number of guests was noticeable. Dirty dishes were piled up in front of the toilets, which gave an unhygienic impression.

Around Eastern i was able to visit germany Belgium and The Neterlands, and this time i visited this GOOD restaurant again. Very very good! I come in the best indian restaurants in London but they can’t compare with this one! Thank you for even giving the free extra starters as a welcome!! We will come here again for sure! I was here for the second time around and the quality is still very good, they maintain a good fresh suply of ingrediënts, and the creations Are very tastefull! Just try it and you won’t be disappointed! 👍 in my opinion this restaurant needs a 5 star rating! One of the best!!! Again this weekend in februari i visited twice! Perfect! Thank you! very tasty food , nice service, entourage could be improved

Recently ordered via Thuisbezorgd, delivery was fairly quick and the food was certainly tasty. Only the price ratio compared to the size of the portions, portions were ridiculously small. If you order 40 euros worth of food for 1 person, you can assume that you will be at least full afterwards. As for the food itself, it was tasty, but still a bright spot.

Tikka masalla is heaven here! And so are starters and deserts alike. We were offered the best service, and when we asked to bring the rest of the food home, because we ordered too much disches only for 4 persons they patiently packed everything for us, and even gave us even some extra rice and naan, and chiken. This means they don’t use, the left overs from last evening the next day, luke some restaurants do! Thank you very very much!

Side gravy's are very less for dishes like bhatura , parota. Paneer biriyani was tomato rice mixed with paneer.

One of the main problems is that they do not pay their staff and exploit them too much. Just read the news about this restaurant. There has been a raid by the authorities because they don’t pay their staff very well.

I have been very well received here, the quality is more than perfect. I hope to encourage others to eat here as well. This can not be missed! Especially go during the weekend, when I always find it the best and the nicest atmosphere here.

After several months (and a very poor experience last time) we returned last night for dinner. I was very pleasantly surprised; had a very nice experience and tasty meal. As a Walloon resident, I am a lover of good Indian cuisine. While working in The Hague for a court, I had dinner here with my colleagues and it was delicious. I can recommend all international employees of organizations to come and eat here!

A very nice place with good food. Last week we went here with 4 people after work.

Been there yesterday. Ordered idlies , vada , uthappam , ghee masala dosa and tea- coffee. The Vada and dosa were ; i would say better than other South Indian places (i am referring to Krishna Vilas) . They were served with 3 chutneys and sambar. Idly however wasn't upto the mark. I think it's due to batter not fermenting enough in winter. SB should really invest in a machine that keeps batter at constant temperature since dosa and idly are primary dishes. Service was quick and friendly. Interior could do a lot better though to depict Indian Culture more. Prices were fine. I would come again if I could (I live pretty far away)

It's a must try for all, not only vegetarians. They have over 200 items on the menu. The staff are very nice. Anf finally, it's not so expensive.

Definitely go there if you want to try the wafer-thin crispy dosa. Looks beautiful and is delicious with different sauces.

We ate here around the holidays and again last weekend. The presentation of the dishes is very neat and attractive, and the taste shows that everything is really fresh! The starters also deserve an extra compliment and you notice that extra attention has been paid to them. We will definitely come back here.

Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist bei manchen Gerichten ein Witz. Wir hatten Vegetable Pulao und bekamen eine kleine Müslischale mit Reis, darin Tiefkühlgemüse und einen kleine Menge Dip dazu. Und bezahlten für diese Beilage 13 Euro.

Best Indian food available in the Netherlands.

There was a long waiting time for the food as well as to get two seats in the restaurant. The restaurant itself isn’t that big so it’s always better to book a place beforehand, special if you’re two or more. The food is good like other Saravanaa Bhavan.

I think they need to work more on their dosa because it wasn’t crispy at all. Service was ok . Ambience was ok .

Wel handig als je met openbaar vervoer komt. Parkeren in de buurt kost al snel 20 euro.

The food is very delicious ! We arrived here on a Friday afternoon for lunch and we were shown to a table almost immediately. The staff were very polite and helpful ! Tried the mango lassi which was very good ! Highly recommend this place !

Good is great ! But the service and the customer interaction can be improved

Food is good as one should expect from a south Indian place. This place is slightly smaller in comparison to Amsterdam's but the menu is equally extensive.

The food is getting better but not everything tasted well. We order a ghee rava dosa which was good but the ghee dosa tasted weird. Even the butter milk was just fine.

Deze zomer in Rome kennis gemaakt met deze keten en omdat ik de kwaliteit daar erg goed vond nu in Den Haag geweest. De dosa was erg lekker, de curry's echter veel minder goed dan in Rome: vrij vlak qua kruiden, weinig groente, ik miste de verfijning. Ook jammer dat de dosa en de curry's gelijktijdig kwamen.

Pros- the lassi was amazing and so was the dosa and kaima idly Cons - The tea was too watery. And the food came a bit late.

Het eten was heerlijk, de porties groter dan we ingeschat hadden. Het is opvallend hoeveel variatie er in de (Zuidindiase) keuken zit. Ik waardeer dat des te meer omdat ik probeer te switchen van flexitarier naar vegetariër. Net als bij Krishna Villas kun je je hart ophalen bij de hoeveelheid gerechten. Bij dosas geldt de regel dat als je er eenmaal kennis mee hebt gemaakt dan wil je het zeker nog eens proberen.

Authentic Indian food taste in the middle of Hague.. Food quality surpasses some of the other branches we have had food in Asia.. the dosa variety if more than 80 types is commendable … thali was very good and south Indian cuisine is fantastic.. all food is served fresh and the condiments taste awesome.. kesari is amazing.. highly recommended 👍
