Kitchen Rani - curry & grill in Wijk 07 Scheveningen

Our experience with this business was downright disappointing and immediately set the tone for the afternoon. The website states that they are open on the last Sunday of the month at 11:30 am. Yet at 12:30 we stood in front of a closed door with a group of 19 people, even though we had a reservation for a bachelor party. There were clearly employees present, but no one bothered to open the door or speak to us. Only after repeated knocking and calling was there a response, but the person on the phone was extremely unfriendly, incomprehensible and even rude. This conversation was so unpleasant that I eventually hung up. When we were finally allowed in at 1:00 PM, we were not warmly welcomed – no apologies, no explanations. We were assigned a long table, but the space was so tight that we could barely move; it felt like we were packed in like sardines. In addition, we had reserved a high chai, but a week before our reservation we were told by email that this was no longer offered - even though it was still listed on their website. As an alternative, we were allowed to use the buffet with unlimited chai. Unfortunately, the food was bland and every refill of the chai tasted different. The worst part was that when someone in our group ordered a soft drink, it was only provided after he had paid first. All in all a very disappointing experience on all fronts

The restaurant is fine, the dishes are top notch. They have many meat dishes such as Tandoori tikka, Butter chicken, Seekh kebab, and various vegetarian options, fruits and desserts. Only they don't have enough naan, because the bread is popular with every visitor. I am also disappointed with the drink prices, because I think €4 for a small bottle of soft drink/water of 0.2 liters is outrageously expensive, especially because you can be thirsty several times. I would have preferred a fixed price for 'all you can eat' with unlimited drinks that you can get yourself. It does take a little longer to answer questions about whether you want drinks, because many visitors come during the weekend and the staff is too small to provide that much service. Furthermore, the design of the restaurant is good, the furniture is fine and the staff works hard to keep everyone happy.

Chicken biryani and lamb curry are tasty and yes the spinach and butter chicken are less so. Salad bar doesn't fit! There was almost nothing left at the pani puri and chaat bar...a shame. Nice staff.

How mean they are. Are you crazy for stealing $1000 from someone? You are the biggest fraudsters and you know that there can be noise pollution on a weekday. Why do you pass on in the beginning? No one should book a party with them. You have to be honest and pay back money because it is your problem if parties are not allowed during the week. Cheaters . What kind of trust will people still have on fraudsters like you? Scandalous restaurant and company .

The restaurant surprised us again. We thought the food was very good, there was something for everyone. Everything was delicious, of course there is always something someone doesn't like, no problem, there is plenty of choice.

We loved everything about this place: delicious food, great variety and amazing service: all the staff was very helpful and kind, they took the time to guide us through all the dishes they serve and there is a chef who makes appetizers especially for you. The food keeps on coming to the buffet and everything is nicely organized, neat and clean. A welcoming place with great atmosphere. Would recommend!

Dishonest people!! We had paid €2500 for a private party (rented the entire restaurant). In the beginning, all options were discussed, such as booking a band or DJ, fireworks permit, etc. And then the restaurant contacted the DJ 1 day before to inform him that he was not allowed to bring his speakers due to too much noise. The restaurant owner indicated that we could find another location and that we would get our deposit back. We were able to arrange another location at the last minute and I asked if they could still provide catering at the other location, but they did not want this. Ultimately, €1,000 was withheld from the €2,500 down payment. Very unfortunate and fraud! They were also very difficult to reach. We didn't get an answer for days while the party was planned, which gave us a feeling that something might happen at the end.

Erg fraaie en smaakvolle inrichting. Veel verschillende gerechten. Het vlees was super mals. Er zijn ook zeer lekkere vegetarische gerechten. Ik heb vooraf wat streetfood genomen (wordt ter plekke voor je bereid), is zeer smakelijk. Neem niet te veel, er zijn nog veel andere heerlijke gerechten te genieten. Er zijn geen alcoholische dranken te bestellen, wel diverse alcoholvrije. Service was uitmuntend, indien gewenst geeft de eigenaresse een uitgebreide uitleg over de gerechten. Kortom, wij gaan hier vaker komen!

Well, I saw on TikTok that this is such a great restaurant. Well NOT. Don't believe everything they say on social media. Another learning point. We came in and no one was there to show us our table. While standing at the entrance we will guide you to your table. The pani puri woman looked at me the whole time and said my colleague will be here soon. After walking to the bar we finally got a table. Nothing was explained how it works. I asked can I order a drink, she said I'll be right there. After finishing my first plate, my drink was not yet available. Ordered again after 15 minutes I finally got my drink. Ordered drinks 2nd time after half an hour. Then the lady said ooh you don't have any drinks yet. I said no, it will all take a long time. She placed my drink on the tray as I stood in front of her. She didn't give it to me but brought it to my table where no one was sitting. Very rude. I don't understand how you operate the entire tent with just the two of you. You pay €4 for a soft drink. I have never paid so much for a soft drink, max €3.50. The cakes as shown, so beautiful on social media, mean nothing. I indicated that the cake was finished. Nothing happened with it. The food was ok by the way, everything was in butter, little variety and there were no signs showing what was in the pans. My husband had to ask what vegetarian was When I left, the lady behind the bar looked very grumpy. Quite a story, but for that money you expect more than that in terms of quality and customer friendliness. So NEVER go to this place again. A waste of my money, I would have been better off going to the all you can eat Chinese restaurant. You pay the same and everything is better They can learn something from that about how to do it

Unfortunately, the mohito was not possible due to a defective machine, and other soft drinks arrived half an hour later. And I had to pay for more drinks that were not ordered. And the Capacino turned out to be coffee wrong. They'll never see me there again.

We had dinner here with a group of 16 people. For €35 per person you expect a decent buffet. Meat is half raw. Wait at least 30 minutes to order drinks. This restaurant doesn't earn anything from this. Because they walk with two people in a full restaurant, clearing plates and taking drink orders. When you order chai you get tea with milk and sugar. Order your cappuccino and you will receive a latte. The male colleague walking around there is absolutely not a person who treats customers with dignity. I had to hold back a lot. Very rude and not friendly at all. No more kitchen Rani for me.

Always fun and delicious food at Kitchen Rani! Today my wife and I went to Kitchen Rani again after a long time. The hostess is always nice and recognized us from the last time. Food was tasty as usual and enjoyed the desserts and chai after dinner. We will be back soon! Greetings, Imran & Natasha

We ate at Kitchen Rani on New Year's Eve and absolutely loved it. The buffet was exceptional! It was diverse, rich and excellent. We have never had Indian food so good! The service was quick, polite and very attentive. The price of 35€ per person was absolutely justified in our opinion. We say thank you for this wonderful enjoyment and look forward to next time :-)

Probably the nicest Indian buffet I’ve had here in the Netherlands. Lovely choice of veg and non-veg dishes, nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Had no issues at all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Concept in itself nice, ambiance also nice. Eating like an Indian connoisseur. Paneer tikka was very lukewarm and dry. Same for the harra barra Kebab. Mango lassi was thick and served in small glass. Very expensive for the price asked. Saag spinach in itself is okay but not great. Dessert not good rasmalai was collapsed, pulled apart drud. Hope they can improve the quality, otherwise a nice restaurant and nice people.

Atmosphere is nice and the service is nice. As far as food is concerned, they are very economical, for example only limited pieces of meat are served that are not enough to eat. 3 pieces of chicken leg but 10 people are waiting. You miss more variety in meat. You get mango lassi in a small children's glass. Desserts are very disappointing. Rasmalai, that's a total failure... In short, the food is far below par for the price…

It was my sister birthday, we had amazing time. The food was very delicious not too spicy, just perfect on the taste with various dishes to choose from and great Sweet ❤️ desert at the end. Nice staff, many options in terms of meat and vegetarian dishes. Also many options for dessert. I was a bit skeptical at first because of the negative reviews, but I didn't experience anything bad, we had made a reservation from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

I love Indian cuisine, and the quality of the dishes here was good. However, the personnel, especially those who attended to the tables for drinks or extra help, were not trained well and were not attentive at all. We almost finished eating and still the drink was not on our table but other tables who came much later than us had everything in order. They didn't ask even if we needed anything else like extra drink, bread, etc., thus for anything we needed we had to go to the cashier, looking for someone to talk to! Moreover, the price of drinks like mango lassi is much higher than any other similar places as the glass is tiny (100-150ml) and one would not be enough for your dinner. Last but not least, as I'm not Indian, I'm not familiar with everything they prepare but there was no explanation even when I asked for it! and they just repeated the name of the food! I believe the saloon staff must be trained to serve better.

Crappy restaurant. Reservation canceled on the same day. Tuesday reservation confirmed for Saturday at 5:00 PM Thursday reminder. Canceled Saturday morning. Called the restaurant. The employee knew nothing and indicated that the reservation system was determined and could not be overruled. Manual reservation was not possible. Manager would call me back. I did not receive a call, but I did receive the email below. The bottom line is that I'm out of luck because they can make more money from a group that apparently booked last minute. Dear Guest, Unfortunately, we cannot accept your reservation for the selected time, we are completely booked out for a private party and occasion until 8:30 PM, we apologize for the inconvenience. We were 5 people. Was on a Sunday night so you know it's going to be busy, there was only 1 server. We had to wait 30 minutes for 1 coke and 1 chai, had to ask 3 times! Air conditioning was on while it was cold outside. Toilet was not clean. Pani puri and the mithais were substandard. Not nice... Main meals were tasty. Tip: make sure there are enough staff in service. Place signs with names next to the dishes... so you know what you are eating and you don't have to ask. I won't be coming back here again.

We came from Amsterdam to try this Indian restaurant. We had postponed the reservation slightly by telephone. When we got there we were given a spot in the very back corner. Because it is a buffet, it was not easy to pass by at all. The man also said: you had made a reservation earlier. We were 5 and wanted a good table. Still, we got a table for 4. No one could pass by for the entire time… The offer was disappointing. No lamb biryani, often someone absent from the pani puri portion. The man is also quite sloppy. The salad section is really not appropriate.. For €35 pp we expected more. You can also order the dishes at home and then you even get more food for less money. I give 3 stars because the lamb masala was very tasty.

A great place to eat Indian dishes. Fresh naan every 10min. The rice of the biryani is perfectly cooked, yet the taste disappointed me. I could only taste the rice. No taste of the spices. For the rest everything had a great taste.

Last Saturday with 16 people, of which 3 children went to eat. Nowhere on the site and menu does it say that all dishes are prepared with pepper. For the children you pay €17.50 per child. Because we didn't know that there was pepper everywhere, the children received a mini plate with fries and 3 chicken nuggets. There is no children's buffet, fries must be ordered! After ordering fries, the children waited 50 minutes for their mini plate of fries. Because this took so long, they had to live on tomatoes and cucumbers. Biggest downside of the restaurant! Clearly indicate on your menu that everything is prepared with pepper. Another tip, place signs with the name of the dish! My favorite was the pani puri! We had asked last minute about a cake for a birthday boy, so it was arranged quickly and served very nicely. Big plus point!

Restaurant Review: Kitchen Rani Unfortunately, our recent visit to Kitchen Rani was a disappointment. We had good experiences before, but this time it was very disappointing. The food was substandard; the chicken didn't smell good which really ruined the dining experience. Unfortunately, the butter chicken was not what we are used to. The biryani consisted of one piece of chicken and looked more like colored rice than real biryani. The paneer also had no taste and fell far below expectations. The service left much to be desired. The owner was unfriendly and often ignored us. Every time we asked something he seemed to walk away. We had to wait a long time for our naan, which was served in small pieces per table. It took almost an hour for the kebab to arrive, which is really too long for a restaurant. As for the desserts it was even worse. The ras malai seemed to have no sugar in it and the milk was watery. The gajrela was inedible, and the kheer had a sour taste, suggesting it was old. It was really disappointing, especially because we expected much better sweets. All in all it was a very disappointing experience, and for us Kitchen Rani is now no longer an option. We hope they improve their service and quality as this restaurant had a lot of potential.

It took a very long time to bring a cappuccino after being asked 5 times and waiting for more than half an hour. In the end it didn't come under the guise of "I'm doing my best, I can't do everything". It is very remarkable that after the fourth time you ask (for literally 1 cappuccino), you do not write down the order so that you can actually bring it later or even bother to listen. Then it seems to me as if you don't want to do your job. Furthermore, servers continuously avoid you when you want to order. This restaurant is a typical self-service restaurant, so don't expect the utmost effort from the staff. They clearly have no interest in it.

A month ago I had dinner at this restaurant. What should have been a fun evening unfortunately ended in failure. I always wanted to go to Kitchen Rani, but today was the first and also the last time. My girlfriend and I (we were actually a group of 5, but due to a death we ended up with 2 of us today). Today's intention was a culinary evening with singing and saxophone. The food was okay but there was no air conditioning, no fans and the drinks were warm. Lousy preparation and twist of fate (ice cream machine is broken) I could live with that. But if you place a drink order up to twice and after half an hour of waiting no one comes again, that's enough for me. I always support everyone, especially when food and music are involved, but this was downright bad. The privilege that family and friends were given at the entrance while everyone was queuing also caused quite a bit of irritation. Many dissatisfied people, but this is to be expected. The above was my Facebook post, after posting this post the restaurant felt it necessary to email my girlfriend (whose uncle had passed away) and complain that, with very few exceptions, they had refunded the money and as a thank you a negative got a review on fb. My Facebook post is my choice and not a review, I always post it via Google, which is what I do now. And extremely inappropriate to email this to my friend who had just lost her uncle. I then picked up the phone and called the restaurant. The review was mine and I wanted to express that I did not think it was appropriate that the email had been sent and that this could also have been communicated to me. The person whose name was at the bottom of the email answered and indicated that a robot forwarded his name at the bottom of each email. I continued to talk about the experiences in the restaurant, but the gentleman distanced himself from everything and would call me back about why the email had been sent. I didn't think this was necessary, but it does say something about the restaurant since the phone call has still not been made a month later.

Wir kommen aus Deutschland und suchten zum Geburtstag meiner Frau ein Restaurant, in dem man sehr gut essen kann und zugleich gesund mit Salat und Gemüse. Durch Zufall sind wir auf das RANI gestoßen. Für 35 Euro ein Buffet vom Alllerfeinsten. Authentische indische Küche mit einer Riesenauswahl. Noch nie so gut gegessen. Meine Frau hatte zuvor noch nie die indische Küche probiert. Sie war begeistert. Das Personal war ebenfalls nicht zu toppen. Der krönende Abschluss war ein Mango Lassi. Dieses Restsurant ist ein Grund, nochmal nach Scheveningen zu kommen.

There are many great things about living in the Netherlands, but eating out isn't one of them! With this in mind, Kitchen Rani with its warm and generous owner, attentive staff and excellent innovative food - which is always changing - is an oasis. A big spacious restaurant to match the big and warm hearts that will greet you on arrival. You pay for a buffet but the ambiance isn't a buffet ambiance and the a la carte menu is superb with authentically cooked specialities and delicacies that wouldn't normally appear on a menu in a restaurant in NL. I just cannot fault this place.

Waren heute dort um einfach mal eine neue Küche zu probieren. Es handelt sich um Büffetrestaurant mit indischer Küche. Die Speisen waren lecker und relativ gut gewürzt. Die Schärfe hat man schon gemerkt. Aber da wir scharf mögen, war das soweit o.k. Unser Kellner hat einmal Getränke aufgenommen und dabei ist es dann geblieben. Das Personal könnte etwas aufmerksamer sein. Sicher mal ein Besuch wert. Beim nächsten Urlaub aber gerne mal wieder.

Cada plato, desde sus clásicos currys hasta ofertas únicas, muestra maravillosamente la diversidad de la cocina india. We had the buffet. They served panipuri and Chaat, then an assortment of fresh kebabs. And then we had the main course that had biriyani. We really enjoyed the food and the ambience. Worth the price. We were so full that we could not have desserts. Then we learnt that they have even a wider variety in amin course in weekends. The best Indian food I have had until now in the Hague and surroundings! Must visit if you want to have authentic Indian/Pakistani food.

I went there with my family to eat their butter chicken. Basically, I was on vacaction and someone referred me this restaurant and i am so much satisfied with their staff and enviornment. Their food is delicious and good.

The food is delicious, tender meat, plenty of choice between meat and vegetarian, friendly staff, speaking both Dutch and English. It was just very warm, a door opened but that made no difference. Enu would be nice, especially with an open kitchen. We had a birthday to celebrate and this week we inquired about the possibilities, but this turned out to be different in the restaurant. There was no singing, we had the fountain lit at our request and I had to pay for it (birthday plate without cake would be free, now I had no choice and had to pay for the cake even though we had already consumed so much sweetness). This indicates that other information had been given by telephone. However, now there was no choice and we didn't eat the cake so we took it with us.

We visited Rani Restaurant today and decided to try their Indian spicy dishes and sweets. It was a great experience, especially their chicken curry and soy kebab. We also tried the vegetable pakora and, for desserts, the Shahi Kheer and Ras Malai. The taste was excellent and the service was very good.

The food, atmosphere and service are really great!!! Everything nice and fresh and super friendly staff, what more could you want?! For Indian food you should really go to Kitchen Rani. Always come here from Germany to eat, because it's really worth it :) The owner is a treasure of a person who pays a lot of attention to her customers. See you soon!

Never eat here!!! Just got a takeaway for 1 person. Received 1 whole Klijn bowl of rice with 3 pieces of chicken for €18!!! The food was also not tasty. Rice had a bland taste and chicken was not tasty and overcooked. When I went back to the rude lady who helped me, I confronted her with the complaint that this was very expensive and certainly not enough for 1 person. She casually sent me away. I will never eat here again and I won't recommend it to anyone.

The food was possibly the worst we have had at an Indian restaurant. The food was too oily, locked flavour and did not taste what it was supposed to.

I wish I could give a 0. If you are a fan of good quality you'll hate it. They care 0 about your experience and quality. 1) Everything felt ready to eat 2) horrible service - the woman at the cashier is so cunning (with a super polite voice) and indifferent to your needs. 3) the cheapest and lowest quality food I've eaten in 2 years in NL. They are pure profit/revenue making model- not good for a hospitality sector. Theyll close down if they continue to be like this. A low 4.1 rating is well justified. We are going to another restaurant after this horrible food.

A calm-chic place with incredibly friendly staff who were happy to explain all (many!) dishes several times. Very tasty food from the buffet and definitely worth the price of €35 per person!

Had a horrible experience here recently! First there was a large caterpillar in my vegetables that scared me and not even two minutes later I saw a large silverfish in my drink. The staff was also very nonchalant about it and even told the caterpillar that it was not a caterpillar and that I was wrong to make me look stupid. We also still had to pay for the food. I'll never come here again. My brother also came a few days ago and the desserts were spoiled!! He said that and then they went back to the back only to place it on another set of dishes and have it served again. Unbelievable how they work there. Absolutely not hygienic and our table was not cleared and no orders were taken for drinks. Was a complete mess. Definitely don't come here!!!

Spectacular range of traditional Indian dishes served as a four course buffet. Deliciously cooked piping hot nann. But the selection of Indian desserts is to die for. Never seen or tasted better in any Indian restaurant. Only 50 percent full when we visited probably because of its location away from the beachfront area. A hidden Gem. We wish we had found it earlier in the week.

We had a great experience at Kitchen Rani. The whole buffet was explained by friendly and patient staff. Lots of vegan and vegetarian choices available. Everything tasted amazing. Chef on call to help with starters and explain allergy information. All the while sitting with a view of the beach and catching the last rays of sunshine. Happy days.

This is the restaurant for who likes options it caters to variety in a buffet type dining experience. So, if you vegetarian or non- vegetarian there are plenty of options. Starters: Chaat corner- Golgappe served like india, dahi vada, bhel and papdi chaat Salad bar Veg starters- tandoori panner, aloo, pakode , soya chaap Non veg starters- Lamb kebabs, chicken tikka, tandoori chicken Main course: biryani, daal, palak, panner butter masala, butter chicken and few more options with naan Desserts: rasmalai, gulab jamun, jalebi, barfi and cakes So, its a 5 course menu which is great as per the price but the drinks are ober and above buffet charge. The downside is the indian sweets are decent but not that out of world.

Today, Friday June 7, 2024, we had a delicious meal at Kitchen Rani. The service was excellent; we were personally served by the owner and felt like kings. At the end of our meal we asked if something could be arranged for our uncle's birthday. Within half an hour we received a delicious cake made on the spot. The service was top notch and the food was delicious. We even brought a doggy bag with the cake because it was all very tasty, but a lot. I'm already planning a reservation for a party with my friends, and I even saw others doing the same. And don't forget the Pani Puri and the variations of salads with different sauces and flavors. Our taste buds were really spoiled. The Chicken Biryani, the dessert bar, the pakoras and the mix kebab were all delicious and flavourful. I always come back with a healthy and good feeling, you really feel like you are in the traditional and authentic Kitchen Rani, or India at its best. Five stars for me, well deserved. I ordered butter paneer via Uber eats three days ago. it arrived cold, which the microwave solved, so that wasn't a massive issue. however, at least half the 'paneer' in the dish seemed to be tofu. it had a very strange, tough texture and tasted nothing like paneer. I used to order here every now and then but I won't be doing that anymore.

I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Here are the key points that led to my disappointment: 1. **Service:** The service was incredibly slow and inattentive. Despite having reservations, we had to wait to be seated. Once seated, it took sometime to get our orders taken and to attend. The staff seemed disinterested and lacked basic courtesy. 2. **Food Quality:** The food was a major letdown. It's completely buffet restaurant and there is no signature dish, also whatsoever kept there was without dish names and customer has to figure it out .Additionally, if any of the items are finishing also they were not quick to refill it. 3. **Cleanliness:** The restaurant did not appear to be well-maintained. The tables were sticky, and there were visible crumbs on the floor. The restroom was also in pathetic condition, lacking basic hygiene standards. For this infact when I was updating to owners their response was completely ignorant. 4. **Ambiance:** The ambiance was disappointing. The restaurant was too noisy, making it difficult to have a conversation. The lighting was dim, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. The decor felt outdated and did not match the restaurant’s supposed theme. 5. **Value for Money:** Given the poor service, mediocre food, and unpleasant environment, the prices were outrageously high. I did not feel that the experience was worth the money spent. Overall, I had high expectations from this restaurant , but it failed to deliver on multiple fronts. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning
