Was taken out to dinner. The food was delicious, the company great. Unfortunately, there wasn't much conversation or explanation from the chef.

Amazing food, great service, friendly staff. Amazing experience

Had dinner here for Christmas 2025, unfortunately very disappointing. Even outside the holidays, this restaurant is not recommended!! Food: Very poor. The dishes were extremely oily and greasy, with far too much garlic and salt to create any flavor. Even the next day, an unpleasant aftertaste lingered. Service: Rushed and sloppy, anything but hospitable. There was no entertainment and no contact with the chef. Atmosphere: Completely uninviting. No music, bright lights, and a table right in the draft of an outside door that kept opening and closing. On a day like Christmas, you expect something special, but this was a major disappointment. We (12 people) have eaten at teppanyaki restaurants before, but found this to be the worst of them all.

Beautiful place , food was fantastic

The food is really good, especially the meat which is of a high quality. The seafood looked very good but we did not have any. Service is efficient and friendly. We will be back.

I was impressed by the decoration, which is very beautiful and nicely done, and there are nice tricks where you can catch food from the chef. It really is a wonderful evening with husband or wife. It is also child-friendly to eat there with your family. I really recommend that you call or make a reservation before coming. It is also a good idea to do so in advance and then you will receive both the voucher and an email from the restaurant with the cost of your voucher.

Delicious Japanese food on the plate!

I've been going to Senbazuru for quite a while, but the last time was really bad. My father ordered a drink and the waiter couldn't get through. There was also a guest with a dog who came in, and in a restaurant of this level, encountering dogs used to be unthinkable. The chef preparing the food was working on two plates, paying little attention, and customer service was nonexistent. I've been going there since 2000, but the way things are now with children running around, that too was unthinkable in the past. Restaurants at this level used to be like spas where customer service and a relaxed meal were the main focus, but now it's becoming factory-like. In short, things used to be really well organized there, but now there's a lot of room for improvement!

Fantastic restaurant, came here with 5 adults and 1 child of 15 months. Child was perfectly entertained from the beginning to the end by the staff, in between we went outside to look at the cage of carp and staff came to bring food for the carp which our child liked! Food was perfect, enough and was freshly prepared in front of you by a good chef. Price/quality is top! We think this is the best restaurant in Hoofddorp and surroundings!

Great food and a fun experience!

For a meal with colleagues, we spent the evening at this restaurant, whose menu focuses on Japanese grilled meats. The tables are equipped with a grill heated by a heating element, and each guest receives the cuts of meat they order, specially cut for this grill. The staff were very helpful in choosing our menu and explaining its features, as well as accommodating certain vegetarian requests.

The experience is great, I recommend you to try it.

We went as a large group. We preferred mixed meat and fish. We got stuffed because there were so many varieties. The meat was cooked well but the sauces were too salty so we couldn't taste the meat. When we got home we were covered in food smell. The ventilation was bad. The staff was very attentive.

Delicious food, not cheap, but what friendly service

The set menu is very delicious. It starts with raw beef miso soup, followed by the main course of salmon and beef. The chef is very skillful and fry it very tender and delicious, but the garlic crisps are a bit salty. It is recommended not to eat them together. There are also stir-fried vegetables and fried rice, with eggs interspersed in the middle. The final dessert is pancake ice cream with blueberry jam and orange wine.

Food is good but I’d like to bring the attention of you don’t feel like sharing the table. Could be a better experience if the cookers were more careful with the hygiene.

Christmas day menu - Bad first encounter with this restaurant. Everything was rushed, sloppy and certainly not hospitable. No contact with the chef at all. Requested to use much less oil when frying the meat because it was dripping off. Huge disappointment, especially on such a day. Have eaten in Teppanyaki restaurants before but this was the worst. Very unfortunate, perhaps understaffing of the staff and we were just unlucky.

Great restaurant, delicious food, nice experience, but especially the staff makes it a top restaurant with a great atmosphere. Mr. Chang cooked for us and I would like to compliment him on his cooking skills but also his nice sense of humor. In short, a top restaurant.

Teppanyaki remains a fun experience. It's great to see the chefs so busy preparing the dishes. The show elements with fire and catching food in the mouth also provide a lot of hilarity. We ordered the Toro menu for 60 for two people. The eel and prawn were delicious. I was here years ago and the quality was slightly better then. The tenderloin was still offered pink or blue and was delicious. Now that was a bit disappointing. The garlic was also freshly fried on the plate. Now there is a container of pre-fried garlic ready. It was completely full when we were there, but the service still ran smoothly despite that. Although our table was only available half an hour after the reserved time. The disadvantage of the crowds was the deafening noise. I could barely understand anything. All in all, certainly a successful evening.

Very good place, tasty food and nice atmosphere.

Place easily reachable by public transport or car. The entrance is beautiful, the interior even more so. There are large tables around each hob, where each chef demonstrates his skills and cooks everything in front of you. The service was also very good: they were very kind, but a little pushy with the drinks, they often stopped by to top up the beer in the glass, which we found quite annoying. A special mention to the chef (Xian if I'm not mistaken) who was very kind and very good at cooking. The price goes up a lot with drinks (around €7 for water and €9 for each small beer), but despite this I recommend it.

Everything about this experience was great, I accidentally made a reservation at the restaurant next door (the same owner) but I was able to sit at Senbazuru without any problem, the food was very tasty and the service was great, thank you for this wonderful experience .

Let me start with a little disclaimer that we are a bit of a chubby couple and not realy used to 'fine dining' the below reflects our personal experience/opinion. We went here for our anniversary. Arriving in a big room with multiple bar-like hot plates with 8 seats on each hotplate. We were being seated next to another couple already there, the rest of the table was still empty. Lost of menu options but we chose the 'chef's choice B' menu, this means according to the menu to let the chef do whatever he wants to serve us. In the end we kind of regret this choice, we were expecting some experimental unique styled food experimenting with flavours and such but the 'chef's choice' seemed to be a set menu, just not showing the courses in-menu. We noticed this as the other arrived couples filling the seats getting the exact same menu albeit different tiers. The higher price for set 'B' seems to not have offered anything more compared to the other sets. As the restaurant filled up it became clear that mutiple tables had to share a chef, this meant that after we got a appetizer(not made by the table-chef but straight from the kitchen) we had to wait 1 to 1,5 hour for our next course; The chef first finished cooking the previous couple's food and left for a while to cook at a different table, leaving us hungry and bored, this happened multiple times. After returning the chef put on a nice show with some tricks and cool fire and this resulted in 1 shrimp with some godly avocado sauce, the best we ever tasted... But a far too small amount of food to make us happy. The same went for the other courses we received, great taste, bybfar leaving us more hungrynthat satisfied, and note: while the chef made our courses the other 2 couples arriving after us did not get any food yet as they in turn had to wait for ours to finish, making us feel a bit bad... All in all we sat there from 17:30 untill 22:00 and left hungry and sadly unsatisfied... We got some food elsewhere on the way back home. We're happy we did this because it was on our list but never again. Advice for the restaurant, increase the amount of chef's or limit your reservations. Also: offer some sides while waiting(i.e. Fried rice or something, stirring the hunger)

We have been coming here for years and enjoy coming back every time! The food is always good and the staff is always friendly! We are already looking forward to this Saturday when we will eat there again!

The restaurant is located somewhere in a suburb and that looks a bit sad. The advantage is that parking is easy. But the inside is beautifully decorated, cozy and incredibly friendly service. The dishes are tasty (grill yourself) but a bit pricey.

Best service, tastiest food, nice atmosphere. Best restaurant in Amsterdam. If you have one chance to visit only one restaurant it has to be Senbazuru. Quality on the highest level.

Nice Japanese restaurant with live cooking, the food was very nice and the set menus have soo much food (too much for one person to eat) good value for money lol. The thing that disappointed me was the service a bit, all waiters looked exhausted and no one was smiling which changed the mood. Than while were still being served our food, they started closing lights from areas and cleaning to shut down which I found a bit rude

Had a great evening in this restaurant. Nice to watch the skilled chefs and their skills on the tepanyaki plate. Good food, excellent service with the right price-quality ratio! I'll be back!

Enjoy beautiful products that the chef artfully prepares for you. Filling evening. Not very suitable for children, because you sit at the table for hours.

It was a very good experience for me. we ordered the Feb special set. It comprises of alot of items. The food were fresh and well cooked, some items were slightly salty but it was acceptable. I personally love the beef roll, something simple yet full of surprises. The chef and staff were very friendly and talented with languages! it has a small table setting which gave a more personalised service from the chef assigned to your table. Just be ready to smell oily when you get out of the restaurant as per other teppanyaki/bbq stalls.

Friendly staff Good food and nice that it is prepared at the table. Most of the chefs I have had are very friendly and put on a nice show. Our kids love the flames they create! There were 17 of us and we all sat at one table around 2 chefs. The round seating made eating out with many people a lot more pleasant.

The chefs know how to prepare the food well and with great show. The staff are friendly and don't keep you waiting. Both when the restaurant is not yet full (we were early) and when it is full, the chefs provide a great experience. They also provide various vegetarian options and there is a sufficient choice of red and white wines or other drinks.

I was looking forward to this dining experience only to be disappointed and regret my decision. 1. Ambiance > 1: Upon entering, place was covered in smoke & the smell of food was way too prominent. It only proves their ventilation & exhaust system wasn't properly thought of. Be prepared to smell like food and don't plan anything after your visit other than going home, wash your clothes & shower. Food stink sticks on.... 2. Food > 2: - Not confident their fish selection's fresh as I had an allergic reaction to their sashimi. Their menu's quantity & quality don't measure up to their prices. We loved the show their chef's put for us but other than that, food itself wasn't impressive. 3. Service > 2: Slow - took 20 mins to serve drinks, No knowledge on wine pairing, rushed order taking -no care for explanation, asked for water-- never arrived so I drank from my kid's drink. 4. Overall > 2: Pricey for what they offer. I'm one who loves exploring new places but this one's a 1st & last. Sorry but I don't recommend this place at all.

Mooie toko. Eten was echt heerlijk. Menu van de chef b is meer dan veel eten. Kok had humor en was echt goed zonder te veel zout en knoflook. De vrouwelijke severeesters waren van de Japanse aanpak. Snel tussendoor en hard. Maakte het wel soms vervelend. Heerlijke biertjes uit Japan erbij..alle drie geproefd. Aanrader in volgorde. Wit, geel en rood

Fantastisch gegeten en voor alles werd lekker de tijd genomen, dus geen haast werk. Komen zeker terug.

Ik ben bij veel Japanse restaurants geweest maar persoonlijk vind ik dit de beste.

Van heerlijke gerechten genoten in zeer sfeervolle restaurant. Jammer dat je als je sushi appart wilde bestellen dan zou het lang duren voordat het klaar zou zijn.

Heerlijk gegeten met het gezin. Personeel is zeer vriendelijk en de kok die alles voor je klaar staat te maken ook. Eten was heerlijk op smaak. Restaurant ziet er mooi uit. Je voelt je er echt welkom. Kortom. Was een top avond.

I am updating my review from 6 months ago when I posted that it was an "Awesome place! Friendly and going the extra mile!". This was for the take away part. We decided to go to the restaurant to eat in, and unfortunately we were quite disappointed: we spent an average of 60€ per person for a great food, but the service and organisation was very bad: We reserved for 18:00 and turned up at 18:00. They sat us down at a table and I ended up in the corner, next to the bottles and spices for the cook, quite disappointing! Then we waited, and at around 18:40 another family came to our table and sat together, and *only* then did the dinner start! We learned that they only start service when the table is full, not before! very frustrating! there was *no* communication, no warning, we were there with our young kids, quite hungry and annoyed! no effort from the staff to amend the situation or even realise that they made the mistake! Moreover, the chef at our table was 'shared' with another table! This is the first and last time that I will set foot in that place. For the price, it is sub standard!

Heerlijk gegeten, gezellig personeel, makkelijk parkeren. Wat ik miste is de gebruikelijke show. Spelen met eten, een grapje, traditioneel schieten van ei in je mond. Dat soort dingen. Wil je dat soort entertainment niet, maar gewoon lekker eten… dan absoluut een aanrader.
