Sense of China in Hoogvliet

They're moving. We ate there one last time. It's a bit nostalgic. We used to go there often with the kids when they were little. I'm curious about their new restaurant, but we're not really into the all-you-can-eat concept anymore.

What a shame that this concept is going to stop.

In just a few days, this place will close. Personally, I think it's a real shame. I've always found the food quality to be better than your average all-you-can-eat joint.

Great people take the elderly into account and are very friendly. The food has a wide choice and they are going to start a new evening program. Good luck with the new business.

Unfortunately they are stopping it. But luckily they are starting again with a new concept. I am curious.

Closes at the end of August so everyone is still enjoying it. Almost always busy.

We celebrate my parents' wedding anniversary here every year. Always good. It's a shame this restaurant is closing, but who knows, maybe the new one will be just as good.

Delicious food. It was nice again. Very nice to be able to eat at Sense of China again after such a long time. I will definitely try Chez Sense too. Just be patient :)

What a shame that this restaurant is closing. A well-known restaurant in this area with perfect service and a good selection of buffet. Fresh sushi is made in front of you and is of high quality.

Sushi and sashimi are good for all-in. Of course different from a pure Japanese restaurant. Soft drinks are included, coffee, beer/wine is extra. They point out the parking ban when the market is set up in the evening. Meat/fish for wok or griddle looks fresh.

Good food, but it remains a bit massive. Waitresses keep asking if you want beer or wine (you have to pay extra for it).

We were a group of 19 people. Quality of the food is mediocre. Buffet in the bins is not warm. Tepanyaki plate .... a lot (too much) garlic is used there. Sushi rice was bland. Wok was tasty. Dessert was mediocre, lots of canned fruit and some small pastries/cookies. Ice cream was tasty. Overall mediocre. Definitely not a second time for me personally.

Cozy atmosphere. Food was fine. The choice was not as extensive as other all you can eat restaurants. Would also like something like a dessert, for example a crème brûlée, tiramisu, (chocolate) mousse. Was only pastry for dessert. Unfortunately, you were not allowed to create ice cream yourself. All in all a nice meal.

Quality is really bad. Cold, it's been there too long and just strange that they charge money for this.

This all you can eat restaurant has very impolite staff, especially the owner, so it really disturbs guests who are eating with the owner shouting when he orders his employees to do something. The variety of food is limited and not tasty especially at the ready-made food table. No chili sauce. The wasabi is sweet, not spicy. The desert cakes were all hard and not tasty. The toilet is so dirty that you even have to wait a long time to ask for tissue in the toilet which is not refilled. Coming back here doesn't seem possible. Een keer is genoeg, just once is enough. I hope the owner reads my writing and wants to improve himself because it is really impolite to shout in front of guests who are eating in Chinese which not everyone understands, it's very rustic and sometimes even throws plates so that the sound can be heard throughout the room. The price is quite expensive even though the food is not delicious.

Come here regularly, even last year on Christmas Eve. Food always excellent. But service via email is very poor. If you made a reservation on November 5, you would receive confirmation within 48 hours ??? This does apply to the first email. As with the second time, I had asked from 1730 to 1800, nothing within that time, November 8, I still called about it, nothing confirmation was heard yesterday, November 14, nothing!!! It all takes a long time. I canceled it yesterday and I was very surprised that this was possible right away. ???? Alla minute. I thought it was very strange that there was a group of 14 people and I was also very disappointed in this. Went for Christmas Eve next???

We had a very good experience and the quality was very good. The reason for 4 stars is that the choice of fruit and ice cream was slightly limited. There was no salad bar, but the quality of the other items makes up for it. Drinking is also free, except for alcoholic drinks, but there was no normal fanta/sinas, only zero sugar, but plenty of other options. There is no limitation in how long you stay seated other than a maximum of 1 or 2 hours, so this is also positive. Parking is also easy and free.

I had a delicious meal. The staff is very nice. Clear your plate almost immediately when it is empty. It was quite cold (end of November), something in the heating was defective and it would be replaced during the weekend, so there you are in a cold restaurant. But all in all, a delicious meal.

All staff plus own to is from tastis? Highly recommended for the layman, Martin won't give you any spaces!!!!!

I’m so disappointed in this restaurant. I’ve parked my car in front of the restaurant and walked inside. After I’ve spend more then 600 euro in this restaurant, I went back outside and find out that my car is gone. After calling the police, I came to understand that I can not park in front of the restaurant on wednesdays and my car has been towed away. I went to the menager of the restaurant and she said they told all costumers except for me. So now I will have to wait till tomorrow to pay the towing company in order to get my car back.

This place is terrible! They leave you park in front of the restaurant in order for you to spend money there. I came from far to spend more then 500 euro in this restaurant to descover that my car was gone when I wanted to leave. After calling the police, I’ve came to understand that I can not park in from of the restaurant on Wednesdays. The menager told me that they are not responsable for whatever happened outside. I am so disappointed in the way they treated me after telling them what happened. They even say that they told all all costumer except us. Now I will have to wait till tomorrow to get my car back after paying the towing price. God knows if I will get a fine also on top of it…

On the advice of my sister, I went here for my daughter's birthday... well, never again! No explanation upon arrival, little choice and what you had was inedible. Now we are not complainers, but if my food is thrown on my plate at the wok and the sauce didn't taste like anything, I have already eaten and drank 🫣 Halfway through the third round I pushed my plate aside and happily ate the desserts... even the ready-made ones were not tasty... so no, I won't go here again, a waste of money.

Online besteld een family diner pittige prijs €50, Chrissy chicken niet geleverd, ik bel met mw van restaurant, zij zei, ikzelf heb alles in tas gedaan. Ik zei terug , dat zal wel maar je hebt iets vergeten. Ze herhaalde haar zin, ik zei, slechte service als je geen nalevering doet. Ik heb verder niets vernomen, geen excuus , niets is nageleverd Ik dacht dat klant is king , maar dat geldt zeker niet voor Sense of China NOOIT MEER ZAKEN DOEN MET SENSE OF CHINA, slechte klanten beleving!!

Freshly made products are fine, but ready-made products are less so.

Chinees privé gerechten zijn hier goed mogelijk. Er liggen veel verschillende ingrediënten voor groente, vlees en vis genoeg om je eigen gerecht te laten maken door een Wok-kok. Daar zijn 6 verschillende sauzen om je gerecht te laten maken. Dat wordt snel gemaakt door alle ingrediënten te laten koken voor zo’n 2 minuten. Maar dan gaat de kok aan de slag om de gekookte ingrediënten te mixen met jouw gekozen saus in de wok. Afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid en de ingrediënten kan dat 1 a 2 minuten met wokken worden voltooid. Daar is ook een grote grillplaat (zelfs 2 wanneer het druk is!) mogelijk met verschillende soorten vlees of vis. Wanneer je het niet kunt kiezen zijn er nog voldoende gerechten zoals babi pangang, foe yong hai enz. en een aantal speciale gerechten. Voor liefhebbers van sushi zijn hier voldoende gerechten beschikbaar. Ook simpele drank, zoals allerlei sappen of pepsicola en vergelijkbare drankjes, is in het menu inbegrepen. Alleen alcoholische dranken of koffie en thee moeten apart worden besteld en betaald. Maar dat zijn redelijke prijzen voor een restaurant. Wanneer mensen na deze borden nog trek hebben in ijs is er voldoende keuze beschikbaar. Het is een groot restaurant waar grote gezelschappen samen Chinees kunnen eten. Voor bijzondere dagen als verjaardagen, x-aantal jaren getrouwd of andere bijzondere dingen kunnen hier hun gasten trakteren!

After more than 4 years of not being there, back again. was quite busy so is a good sign. Food was good as usual with some adjustments here and there. but all in all, it was tasty!

Sauces too thickened when stir-frying?

For 80 euros I think this is scandalously little! We are 2 little girls and 2 adults. Unbelievable when we received this. We often go out to eat, sushi is our favorite, ordered here for the first time, and had a busy day so we decided to have it delivered to our home. I had a MEGA craving for fried bananas, it's scandalous that the size of my big thumb is so small (and it's small, I'm only 160 and 54kg). Not even worthy of 1 person that you want to share with each other. Dim sum that tastes like cat food. The bowl of Bami is even flatter than the plastic container of sushi. Does it contain vegetables that shouldn't be there, such as green beans, corn, carrots and much more? Was the vegetable left over from yesterday? Bami pangang is really unrecognizable in terms of taste. I do not know what it is.. I'm just cooking for my kids again now. I'm just gutted. Really. Everything is so bad.

I have a wheat/gluten intolerance and this has been taken into account very well. No complaints at all after dinner, so everything went perfectly.

Unfortunately not what it used to be anymore.

The service was very friendly, the grill chef was really not cheerful and didn't seem like he was looking forward to it. Just threw the meat on the plate and his face was like thunder. The quality and taste of the grill was really good. Eating/cooking area very crammed together, tables for eating were spacious. Compared to other wok restaurants we missed something, but it is not possible to really say what. It just wasn't it for us.

Superb restaurant. Cozy and always friendly staff. Have been coming here for years and keep coming. The restaurant has a slightly different layout of the tables, but it is more pleasant. The food remains delicious and everything is plentiful! Update: went for dinner on Valentine's Day and despite the crowds the service and help was excellent. We keep coming!

Al you kan Eat als je niet grilt of wokt dan zijn de gerechten die je zo kan halen niet erg warm en voordat je op je plek bent alweer koud. Het is ook erg aan de prijs waar je ook de drank nog mort betalen.

I love going here. They went downhill quickly during COVID-19 pandemic, so I haven't visited this place in 2 years. I did finally get to visit again in May and June 2022, and they went back to the old formula. They removed their teppan-yaki station as it usually took too long to make the food, and people were impatient. The rest is as good as it's always been. Crowded on weekends, so go during weekdays if you want a quieter experience.

Grote ronde tafel valt tegen als je maar met z'n 4en bent waarvan 2 Kids. Genoeg kleinere tafels die stonden gereserveerd, maar heel de avond leeg. Enige minpunt. Komen er graag!
