Gezellig kerstavond. We’ve been to Shabu Shabu at xmas dinner for the all-you-can-eat and were impressed with the great speedy service. Real quick. We read the reviews here and got concerned about it but that didn’t reflect the reality we experienced. The food tastes good, portions well served. Small, which allows for ordering more diverse options. It’s more of a commercial set of offerins not so fully-japanese style which is good if you go with a group that doesn’t enjoy only or mainly sea food. We had a really joyful dinner and time.

The best sushi i tried in Rotterdam so far! We were in 3 and we went for lunch. The restaurant and the atmosphere are very nice. In the all you can eat menu it's possible to order 4 dishes per person every 10 minutes. In each plate there are only 2 pieces; at first we found this a little weird but actually, at the end, we enjoyed it because we could try more things. The only negative thing is that sashimi is an extra. Everything tasted very good anyways but the fried items were not the best (maybe was something about the oil they use). The food was coming to our table fast. If you are in Rotterdam and you crave all you can eat sushi this is exactly were you should go!

The food was delicious, but I found the service this evening remarkably poor. Last time, we were greeted very warmly by a slightly older Asian woman. On Friday, November 21, 2025, there were more younger staff working, and they mostly looked very dissatisfied, as if they genuinely didn't enjoy their work. The young woman who kept coming to our table to clear the table seemed to constantly look away as if she wanted us to leave. We had ordered quite a few more luxurious drinks, including a martini, etc., but I think it's still a place that gets packed and where they want you out as quickly as possible. I understand the concept is that you have an hour and a half, but here it felt like she wanted us out even sooner. Finally, when we had about 39 minutes left, the woman came to ask if we'd ordered anything. I'd ordered three sesame balls, and that was it, and of course, I just wanted to eat my ice cream, which we had, of course, paid for. So, the food, the taste, and the quality? A solid 9, but the service? A 4 because I found it very unpleasant. Barely a smile in sight, just a quick push and clearing until you leave and the winnings are in. I hope to be helped by the very sweet and friendly older Asian lady again next time. Oh, the lady who was serving our table was clearly not Asian. I hope the manager reads this because it was unpleasant.

Excellent value for money! The service and food were of a very high standard for a reasonable price! It was very thoughtful that they brought my daughter pre-cut chopsticks for children. What was super interesting and fun was ordering via mobile phone using pictures. The children tried more new things than usual as a result. We'll definitely come back on our next visit to Rotterdam!

I visited this Japanese buffet restaurant during a business trip. I appreciate the waitress who kindly helped me get a table even though the restaurant was almost full. The food was not very authentic but tasted acceptable, and the service was fast. However, the ordering app was difficult to use because it was only in Dutch, which made it confusing for visitors. When the waiter explained the buffet price, time limit, and QR code ordering system, there was no mention of any mandatory drink policy. During the meal, the waiter repeatedly asked us to order drinks and only then mentioned there was a house rule that each guest must order at least one drink. When I asked where this rule was stated, I was told it’s on their website — but after checking, I couldn’t find it. For a buffet priced at €39 per person, this undisclosed condition feels unfair and misleading. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant due to its lack of transparency and poor communication.

Look, I really get that you have to take the plates away, but seriously, I just put the sushi in my mouth before another employee comes in front of me and takes the plate away. This seems very rude! The building is starting to feel a bit dated. Small tables and seating, which has the advantage that they have to clear the table quickly. The food is okay, like your average all-you-can-eat sushi and grill. Beef tataki was very good. And the nice thing is that they have a few dishes that are a bit different. Unfortunately, the lobster soup wasn't available. The staff is okay. But they also have to work very hard, so it's understandable that they're a bit less chatty. And you order with a QR code on your phone, so yeah. Just fine if you're really hungry. There were a lot of screaming children; we were there on a Friday night. They have cleaning robots that run from the bar to the kitchen, which was a unique touch. It had a certain appeal for both men and children. If you want to eat a lot for a good price with decent quality, then this is a great restaurant.

Today we ate at Shabu Shabu Blaak. The hot dishes were good, but this one time the sushi was clearly disappointing. We've been coming here for years, almost every Sunday for lunch. We always ordered a large 750ml glass bottle of Chaudfontaine Blue (€7) to share. It's never been a problem. For comparison, a bottle like that costs around €1.30 including VAT (excluding deposit) at the wholesaler. However, today, when we paid, we were told that "each guest has to order their own drink" and that they would "overlook it this time." Nowhere does it state that a large bottle can't be shared or that it doesn't count for multiple people. The comment only came after the meal, which is not only unclear but also unfriendly to customers. Treating loyal customers this way for a few extra euros in revenue is disappointing. Despite this, my wife tipped; something I only discovered outside and, frankly, I was angry about. Because of this experience, I see no reason to come back for the time being.

We tried all-you-can-eat sushi for the first time in years because we were with a large group, but it was disappointing. First and foremost, I was disappointed by the impersonal atmosphere and service. Everything was just thrown on the table, and there was no smile. I heard from one of the staff members that they sometimes take 30,000-40,000 steps in a single shift. I understand why they can't smile, but it was such a shame! The food was good overall. Rib-eye and other meat dishes were better than expected. The sushi was fine, but sometimes it arrived either not as ordered or very messily assembled. A disappointment was the cola, which came already poured into glasses (not bottles). The dessert corner with scooped and soft serve ice cream, candy, mini cakes, and fruit was excellent! For around €50 per person with two drinks, it's okay.

I had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. From the start, no one informed us that changing tables was not allowed — even though there was a table in front of us where people were visibly vomiting. It was extremely uncomfortable and unhygienic, yet we were told we couldn’t move. To make things worse, the staff came over more than three times during our meal to ask if they could clear the table, even though we were clearly still eating. It felt rushed and disrespectful, like they wanted us to leave as quickly as possible. Honestly, I expected a basic level of professionalism and hygiene, especially when paying for a meal out. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this place and will definitely not return

But the man who received us acted as if we were late and immediately started nagging about the time — no greeting, just nagging that the kitchen would close at 21:30. Why that time can still be reserved on the website is a mystery to us. It was not mentioned anywhere. The sushi looked like it had been thrown together quickly, half fallen apart and it did not taste fresh at all. For almost 40 euros you just expect decent quality — this seemed more like a rush job than something made with care. We had already ordered three rounds before the first sushi finally arrived. Because we were only “allowed” to eat for an hour, we had to keep ordering without anything being on the table, otherwise we would have had nothing. At 21:30 sharp the plates were cleared away and it was over. Service was grumpy from start to finish. I have to say that there was one employee who was friendly. He had a chat and asked at the end if everything was to your liking. He really seemed to do his best, and I almost felt guilty to honestly say that it was not at all to your liking Unfortunately, never again for us

Ik raad iedereen af hier ooit langs te komen. Als je gaat zitten krijg je een all you can eat en all you can drink arrangement aangeboden. Je bestelt online en ziet daar een timer staan met de tijd die je nog hebt. Wij hadden nog 10 min op deze timer open staan, maar wij kregen een extra rekening voor de drankjes omdat we over tijd zouden zijn. De medewerkers waren erg onbegripvol en zelfs als wij lieten zien dat er tijd over was in het systeem gingen zij erg in discussie, waarna ze met een vaag verhaal kwamen dat je eten tot de eindtijd kon bestellen maar geen drinken. Zelfs op het moment van afrekenen hadden wij eigenlijk nog tijd over. Erg onvriendelijk personeel en alsnog extra moeten betalen. Het gaat mij niet perse om het geld maar vooral om het principe. Dit is in theorie namelijk oplichterij! Klacht zeker ingediend!

I advise everyone not to ever come here. When you sit down you are offered an all you can eat and all you can drink arrangement. You order online and see a timer with the time you have left. We still had 10 minutes left on this timer, but we got an extra bill for the drinks because we were supposedly overdue. The employees were very uncomprehending and even when we showed that there was time left in the system they started arguing a lot, after which they came up with a vague story that you could order food until the end time but no drinks. Very unfriendly staff and still have to pay extra. It is not necessarily about the money for me but mainly about the principle. In theory this is a scam! Complaint definitely filed!

Few to no gluten-free options available. Upon arrival, I asked if certain ingredients could be omitted, such as gluten-containing sauces and fish eggs, because otherwise there would be too little choice. I was told that the kitchen could take this into account and that I would hear otherwise. Based on that, I ordered. To my surprise, it turned out that not all dishes were gluten-free during the meal. When I asked an employee about this, I was told that it was indeed not gluten-free and that I had to scan the QR code to see the allergens. The employee then spoke to the person who had helped me earlier, but he denied that he had said that it was possible. It was stated that no exceptions are possible because "everything is prepared in advance". Using the QR code, I crossed off everything on the menu myself. Eventually I received a second menu for the next round, on which dishes that contained gluten had been crossed off by themselves, this time. When comparing it to the website, this turned out not to be entirely correct; approximately five dishes listed as containing gluten were not crossed out on the menu.

Although the waitress was friendly and attentive, nothing could compensate for the disappointment with the quality of the sushi. The sushi we got was way below standard. Kom hier al jaren, afgelopen keer was het echt slecht. 40 minuten wachten op sushi nadat de warme gerechten wel binnen 5-10 minuten op tafel stonden. Dit was elke ronde zo dus we bestelden maar alvast van te voren. Uiteindelijk meerdere dingen gewoon niet ontvangen. Sushi viel enorm uit elkaar, en extreem kleine stukjes. Of 1 reusachtig stukje en 1 mini stukje van dezelfde rol. Kreeg ook het verkeerde drinken. Omdat het zo lang duurde hebben we niet alles kunnen bestellen wat we wilden en zijn we met nog lichte trek naar huis gegaan omdat onze tijd op was 😵‍💫 Echt heel jammer want dit was altijd mijn favoriete all you can eat. Echt teleurgesteld.

Hade inte kollat upp det här innan utan droppade in på chans sen eftermiddag. Inga problem att få bord och väldigt många servitörer som hade koll. Poor service and no responsibility for damage During my visit to Shabu Shabu, an employee spilled red sauce on my white shoes. An accident can happen, but what is really disappointing is the way the restaurant handled it. Instead of taking responsibility and offering a solution, my complaint was dismissed as if it were my problem. This shows a lack of customer service and professionalism. I expected at least a serious response and reasonable compensation. I will never come back here again!

Nice and cozy tent, busy and full. Food comes very quickly. Which makes you full quickly. If you don't take a break from ordering yourself. Duck breast fillet tasted like it was no longer good. But that was the only thing. The rest was very tasty.

Geachte Manager van Shabu Shabu, Met groot enthousiasme willen wij onze waardering uitspreken voor een van uw medewerkers, Le-chone, en voor het gehele team van uw restaurant aan het Cor Kieboomplein 90, 3077 MK Rotterdam. Tijdens ons recente bezoek op vrijdag 27 dec heeft het team ons een werkelijk memorabele avond bezorgd. Bij aankomst werden wij hartelijk ontvangen en bleek dat ons speciale verzoek om een plekje bij het raam perfect was geregeld. Dit getuigt van oog voor detail en een echte toewijding aan gastvrijheid. Het hele team straalde enthousiasme en werkplezier uit, en ieder werkte met een indrukwekkende energie en vrolijkheid. Le-chone verdient een bijzondere vermelding. Ondanks dat hij pas enkele maanden bij u in dienst is, straalde hij een professionaliteit en vakmanschap uit die direct opviel. Hij combineert een natuurlijke vriendelijkheid met een scherp inzicht in de wensen van de gasten. Zijn oplettendheid, positieve uitstraling en charisma hebben onze avond naar een hoger niveau getild. Wat ons vooral trof, was zijn enorme werkethiek en doorzettingsvermogen. Le-chone is het toonbeeld van een horecaprofessional: vriendelijk, energiek en zeer bekwaam. Zijn vermogen om een warme, ontspannen sfeer te creëren terwijl hij tegelijkertijd uiterst professioneel blijft, is bewonderenswaardig. Wij willen benadrukken dat medewerkers zoals Le-chone en het team als geheel een groot verschil maken in de beleving van gasten. Shabu Blaak has long been a good example for other Sushi restaurants. That is now a faded glory. Food is of mediocre quality. The sushi has been sweating for hours, resulting in dirty sticky rice. The service is downright bad. The food flickers on the table and a question is answered with a snarl. And then we haven't even mentioned the absurd prices, shrinkflation everywhere, high prices and smaller portions. This was our last time dining at Shabu Shabu. And we are not the only one, where it used to be overflowing with customers, it is now a poor asset with the occupancy. Good luck with the upcoming bankruptcy.

Worst restaurant I've ever been to. We were told on the phone that if we came we could only stay 1.5 hours because of the next shift. Fine, because we had to leave again after 1.5 hours because of a performance. After almost an hour we were told to order the last dish because there was "half an hour of cleaning time". Biggest nonsense of course for cleaning a table and we were also told 1.5 hours. When I pointed this out, the female employee arrogantly walked away and let her colleague solve the problem, who tried to make something of it. Besides this incident, the food was okay, but too expensive for what you get. In addition, your plate was continuously taken away before you had even finished your mouth. This gave me a very rushed feeling. Painful to have to pay 80 euros here. For 2 people. For 1 hour. This was definitely the first and last time. You better go to Sumo!
