Terrible sushi; it was dry and had been sitting for too long. The fish they used for the sushi was absolutely awful. Never again! The only good things were the bulgogi chicken, fresh vegetables (mushrooms, zucchini), and the mini taiyakis, and for that, it's not worth over €40. The staff was friendly and everything came quickly, but the sushi was absolutely inedible. It's a real shame, as it used to be my favorite place.

I ate at this sushi restaurant tonight. We made a reservation for 7:00 PM and were seated exactly on time. We were served fairly quickly, and our drinks arrived promptly. We chose the All You Can Eat option. It included five rounds of four dishes, and the selection was extensive. Initially, the dishes took quite a while to arrive, and some were missing. After I reported them, they did arrive. Subsequent rounds went fairly smoothly. The quality of the dishes was excellent, and everything was wonderfully fresh. Because it was busy, there was quite a buzz. Sitting comfortably in the restaurant was practically impossible on a Friday evening. We had plenty of food, and everything was very tasty. I can definitely recommend this restaurant. The price-quality ratio is excellent.

The 'eat all that you can' is a lie. Don't believed this! You have only 5 rounds and you can order only 4 pieces by round. So, if you order 4 pieces of sushi, you will use 1 round. Pay attention. They don't sell only the food, you need to pay one drink also. The Chinese food is very good but they don't say in the menu if is spicy or not. The sushi isn't good. Is an expensive restaurant.

We had a reservation for 3:30 pm and thought we were coming for lunch. It turns out we had to pay for dinner. This isn't clearly stated on the website. The dinner menu also states that ice cream and cake are included, which isn't on the tablet menu. The sushi was also cold and not fresh. In short, not worth the money!

What a terrible place! The service is absolutely terrible. I spent €110 and only had two rounds of food because they had a Wi-Fi outage and the iPads weren't working. You were given a piece of paper to write down what you wanted to eat; it would have been nice if that piece of paper had been collected instead of making someone wait 45 minutes!

Really disappointing and misleading. Their all you can eat arrangement is limited to 5 rounds, it is not unlimited as they say and write. The portions are very small: for nigiri 1 item = 1 piece, and it's really tiny. Additionally, we waites over 30 minutes to be served (it was lunch time around 12:45, there were maybe 5 tables in total occupied and 10+ people in the kitchen). Nobody offered anything, not even an apology. When the staff asked if we had a good time, we expressed these issues and they were not simpathetic at all.

The atmosphere and decoration are great, and the location inside the market and city is excellent. However, the experience did not meet our expectations. Both the signage and our waitress indicated it was an "all-you-can-eat" restaurant, but in reality, orders are limited to 5 rounds with a fixed number of pieces per round. This does not reflect a true all-you-can-eat concept. Additionally, there’s a mandatory 10-minute wait between orders, and since everything is placed through an app with no notifications, you must track the time yourself. Unfortunately, the quality and taste of the sushi did not justify the price paid.

I was surprised at how delicious the octopus was, just like in Japan. The all-you-can-eat option actually has a set amount, so it's not all-you-can-eat. There were a lot of mistakes made with orders. And above all else, the attitude of the staff was the worst. This is the worst restaurant I've visited in Europe. I want to give it three stars, in a negative way.

I visited this restaurant expecting a true all-you-can-eat experience, but the system in place is quite different from what’s advertised. You are limited to five rounds, with a maximum of 8 pieces per round, and must wait at least 10 minutes before ordering the next round. While the sushi itself was decent, the restrictions make it far from a genuine all-you-can-eat experience. The wait between rounds and small portions per order mean you end up spending more time waiting than actually enjoying your meal. In my opinion, the way this is promoted is misleading, and it would be fairer to clearly explain these limitations upfront. Unfortunately, this left me disappointed and I wouldn’t return based on this policy.

Claim all you can eat, yet severely limit the amount you can order. Only five rounds of four items per person. Have fried coquille / scallop on the menu. But it's defiantly just cheap imitation crab. Pictures on the menu don't look like food you receive. Sashimi salad on the picture looks like some nice mixed leafy greens with nice slices of sashimi, but in reality it's just chopped up cubes of fish/octopus drenched in some spicy sauce on iceberg lettuce Portion sizes also smaller than on the pictures 12 euro cocktail (their house special) barely tasted like alcohol.

We kregen een tafeltje vlak bij de uitgang. Iedereen liep daar continu langs. Erg rumoerig, maar het ergste vond ik toch wel dat ze na nog geen uur nadat we er waren of we nog snel de laatste ronde wilde bestellen. Toen die net op tafel stond kwam iemand nog vragen of we nog een toetje wilde. De keuken gaat dicht. Ze keken ons echt de zaak uit. Voor ons echt nooit meer Sumo. Wat een ongelooflijke ongezellige en asociale zaak (personeel) zeg!

An oriental buffet. The food is good, especially the miso soup. The sushi is good but not very crowded. The teriyaki chicken is spectacular. The price for two adults and two children is €90 plus drinks, quite expensive. But they have the option to order from the menu, which, for example, is good for censorship.

Japanese all you can eat with excellent service. This was our first time at Sumo, and we weren’t sure what to expect. We went in because we were in the mood for sushi, then found out they had all you can eat. It’s a pretty simple concept. 5 rounds, 4 items per person. They have options for everyone to enjoy and the food comes to your table before you finish taking a sip from your drink. We never waited for our food for longer than 5 minutes, or wait for our plates to be removed after we finished. The service at this place is excellent. The food itself is really good, but after a few meals, it all starts to taste the same. Sweet. Unfortunately. It’s all you can eat, Japanese cuisine at an affordable price with great service. It’s what you expect it to be.

We have been coming here for over 8 years now. Our favorite place to have "unlimited" sushi for lunch. To our surprise, the price has gone up considerably! 31 euros per person for lunch, bizarre. You can also only order 4 dishes per round and not 5 anymore. Too bad, unfortunately we find over 70 euros for a sushi lunch for two and a few drinks really exaggerated. i usually return to restaurants because of their service but this place didnt really have that. We arrive for lunch. it was €30 per person. I found it a little more expensive than usual. other places i have been too are about €20-25 per person with a LARGER variety. This place didnt have much to choose fun especially from the price. a bit disappointed. We had ordered two waters and 4 pepsis. they charged us for an extra soda, on top of that one water bottle was about €9 which is ridiculous in my opinion. I think they don’t state the prices in the menu on purchase. Over all the food was not worth the quality. They give you 5 rounds and 4 plates per person which wasnt too bad. As for service, there was none. I mean it was mainly a tablet where you ordered from. Then you had the runners which were collecting the dirty dishes which I believe they did a great job at doing it quickly! they also brought out the food pretty fast as well. As for the atmosphere it was very beautiful on the inside. I personally wouldnt come back because there are other ones nearby but it was a quick option.

NOT RECOMMENDED!! When we sat down at the table, we were not even greeted. We were asked if we wanted something to drink and we did not want that yet and then the iPad was put down and we walked away... without any explanation of how it worked and without asking if we could have certain allergens. The food was so greasy that my companion felt sick. I had a very spicy sauce on a few dishes without it being mentioned anywhere... I had asked an employee if he could perhaps put in the system that our table wanted it without that sauce, to which the employee replied that that was too much work for him to do... Because of this, I actually did not dare to order other dishes because I did not know what the sauce was in. When we paid, we then got a dressing down because we had not ordered a drink and that was not allowed according to the house rules. So we had indicated that nothing had been explained when we entered, let alone greeted us, to which the employee did not actually respond... Very bad restaurant (the people next to us had not ordered a drink either, but nothing was said about that...)

Yesterday, seven of us went to dinner because one of us was celebrating a birthday. Two more people joined us. We were rudely approached by a colleague of yours, a young man with black glasses and earrings. It was a Monday, and the restaurant was almost empty. The food was very mediocre. All the dishes were covered in so much sauce that they were drowning in it. The flavor was very overpowering, we even received the wrong orders, and they forgot a lot of things. And that on a quiet Monday. I don't want to be mean, but the sushi from Albert Heijn has more flavor. Back when we had to enter everything manually, it tasted so much better, and the service and hospitality were also much better. This is the last time for me.

Drinks are randomly placed on the table. Control mumbles unintelligibly. From 9.15 pm, staff asks if the deserts can be ordered already, while we are still eating and can order another round. We are halfway through the last round, the grill was already clean I think... From 9 p.m. the staff is mainly concerned with going home and not with service.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food was not fresh at all, it felt like the same quality as AH sushi, straight from the fridge. Even the soup was cold, and the curry chicken with rice seemed like it was leftover from the night before. The shrimp was so overly salty that I couldn’t even swallow it. For the quality provided, the prices are completely unreasonable. Definitely not worth the money. I won’t be coming back.

What a huge disappointment. The food was simply awful. Grilled meat, sushi, fried rice. It was simply awful. And how much can you really fault with fried rice? Even the deep-fry stuff is bad. The sushi is awful, especially the sumo roll and carpaccio roll. All the chicken is tough, and the squid rings were barely chewable. The staff doesn't say anything when they bring or take away food. The atmosphere is cozy and looks nice, but with the quality of the food, I honestly don't understand why anyone else comes. And that for over 45 euros per person, excluding drinks!

There was two mice hopping around, when i asked an employee if this was a regular thing he said it was normal. Tho i do understand Rotterdam has a mice issue having them in places where food is handled is not acceptable. Furthermore Sumo has had a decline of quality over the last few years and for me this was a nail in the coffin. For a restaurant that is expensive, an all you can eat thats around 37 pp minimum, i would think its expected to not have a rodent problem. I wouldn't really call it unlimited. Five rounds, with four dishes per round. Furthermore, compared to other sushi restaurants, Sumo serves two maki pieces per serving, and the photos don't accurately represent the amount you get. (For example, skewers are one piece.)

Quality down, price up. It's become more expensive again, and you get fewer sushi per order (1 nigiri instead of 2, and 2 urumaki instead of 3). In my opinion, it's no longer worth the price. Plus, for the best dishes, you now pay an extra €5 per person.

Al in verschillende Sumo restaurants geweest en eigenlijk altijd lekkere sushi gegeten. Ook deze Sumo in hartje Rotterdam is daar geen uitzondering op. Qua interieur is deze wel de gezelligste Sumo en wat minder kil als de andere vestigingen waar ik geweest ben. Maar dat is uiteraard een kwestie van smaak.

I was a fan of this sushi place, but this is the last time I'll be back. You can now only order 4 dishes per round instead of 5. The quantities are also smaller; previously, it was 3 sushi pieces, now you get two. Drinks went wrong twice. I even had to go to them because they wouldn't come to take my drink order. The steak wasn't tender and didn't have much flavor. The basic sushi and shrimp from the "deluxe" menu were okay. The breaded fried shiitake mushrooms weren't good, so bland. And where were the vegetables in the veggie noodles? They weren't very tasty either; I just added a little soy sauce to give them some flavor. Before the two hours were up, you were reminded to pay the bill because there were new people waiting for a table. It felt very rushed to order and eat, which wasn't pleasant. I'm definitely not starting to appreciate the concept of this, where you were in such a rush the last time for me. Too bad!

Nice experience in the Markthal of Rotterdam. We went for all you can eat and were stuffed after round 4. The food was more than adequate and lots of variety. It was tasty and the staff was friendly. Nice place and convenient ordering via a tablet. It's pricey, but that's all these days.

Not getting the point around! Went there several times with friends, couple of them for lunch and just once to have dinner. Lunch menu is around 27€ pp, while dinner one costs about 40€ pp, even though the menu is exactly the same but you have the opportunity to order a lower number of dishes. Why do we pay more then?!

Sumo isn't what it used to be. The service is mediocre. The menu is sparse. The staff is uninterested and wanders around like zombies. They'll suggest the wrong menu, which could overcharge you if you're not careful. The floor is sticky. The restrooms were dirty. The food was okay. I won't be back. Close this place down.

Amazing place for a date, All you can eat option is perfect, the thing I didnt get is we pay together each persoon a price 37€ , but we can only order 5 Times for 8 food. if i come alone do i pay same price for 5 times 8 food? Futher is perfect foods. But many time we had busy table, waiter doesn’t clean ur table always.. that is a bit sad about the place.. everytime u should say it, in stead of they clean it..

Worst all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant. The website promises two hours to eat, but they enter a 1.5-hour time limit on the tablet, preventing you from ordering. The manager didn't offer a solution either. The service is terrible, and the price-quality ratio is vastly different. A real mousetrap.

Too often, the wrong order was delivered, or nothing at all. You had to order drinks more than three times, and still, it was wrong. It was a disaster. This is the second time it's gone wrong. I used to like it, but now I think it's much worse. We couldn't enjoy ourselves because we constantly had to check if we'd received everything.

I really enjoyed it. We ordered 5 dishes, each with 4 dishes. They were brought to our table. There's a huge selection, primarily from Japanese cuisine. The ice cream dessert is adequate in terms of selection, but very limited in size. The service was excellent! Some dishes (like duck) weren't (or no longer) at the right temperature. The menu has been slightly revised, which is why we've lowered our rating.

I made an order via uber eats 4 days in advance but its got cancelled 30 MINUTES BEFORE DELIVERY! It was a special day for me and my plans were ruined. It was cancelled without any further explanation. I tried to call the restaurant for an hour straight and nobody picked up. Disappointed.

Things are getting worse and worse here. There's now a choice between all-you-can-eat regular and premium. We chose regular because that's what we always get. It turned out there wasn't much choice in the food, which wasn't the case before. You still have five rounds, but you can choose fewer dishes per person, and the portions are much smaller (4 instead of 5). I think the service is still okay, but you get what isn't yours; the neighbors get your food.

We often had orders not arrive, at least a third of them. Some dishes were late. Because of this, we never knew how much was still to come, which was frustrating when ordering. I don't think I'd come here again.
