Shinsen Restaurant in Wijk 20 Risdam-Zuid

I ate here with my father. We got a table quickly, but the wait for our food afterwards took a very long time. I also found the owner to come across as quite unfriendly, and the atmosphere wasn't very welcoming. To be honest, the food just wasn't good—it was dry or simply a lot mediocre than the photos—and I don't think it's worth the price 😅

I found it a bit dark inside, but otherwise a very nice place!! Next time I would prefer one table by the window haha, but I'll have to arrange that myself.

Always good and tasty, we have been regular customers for years!

Good food, mediocre service, decent restaurant

We came here for dinner on a Wednesday evening. We had enjoyed our previous visit, so we were eager to come back. A female waitress was wearing a loose shirt, shorts, and flip-flops. She sometimes walked away while we were taking drinks or asking a question. During the first round, there was a black hair in the sushi. As the waitress took the sushi away, she looked back to see if the hair might have belonged to one of us. We were supposed to receive new sushi, but we did not. A moment later, we received a third course, and once again, there was a hair in the cucumber. We noticed that the rest of the round was being placed at another table. These people poked their chopsticks into the food before pointing out to the wait staff that it was not their order. Subsequently, the wait staff placed the same food on our table. At this point, we decided to leave. At the cash register, they acted very indifferently. We did not want to leave without a suitable solution. Ultimately, we were charged the children's rate and had to pay for all the drinks as well. We are surprised by the nonchalant, inattentive, and uninterested attitude of this restaurant.

The food is very tasty, but the owners aren't exactly friendly or sociable. The waitresses, however, are! They are very polite and friendly. That makes you very happy. If the owners were like that too, it would be a top-notch restaurant! Oh yeah, and serving customers barefoot in Crocs as an owner is really unacceptable, you know. Yuck.

My favorite Japanese restaurant! 4 stars for the atmosphere because I miss real Japanese interior.

The service was incredibly slow! We practically ran away! I have never experienced such slow service in another restaurant! I am absolutely never coming back here!

Huge disappointment. I can't recommend visiting this place. The food tasted very good. However, we waited a very long time. There were no prices listed on the menu. Then came the unpleasant surprise with the bill. Completely overpriced. We weren't full and the three of us paid over €90. I found it interesting that we ordered the same dish twice; the first time we received six shrimp, and the second time only two. However, it cost the same.

A lot went wrong. Drinks at the wrong tables, food at the wrong tables. The food was really tasty, though.

Had a delicious meal! Great service! It's a shame about all those children running loose, rushing through the restaurant right in front of you, in and out. The staff doesn't dare or aren't allowed to do anything about it. Management should have spoken to the parents about this. A reason not to eat here again.

We have always eaten really well here and come often. We just quickly grabbed 3 soups, and apparently they thought that if they kept charging 5 euros per soup—but we didn't even give them half the contents—the customers would stay satisfied. Well, personally, I find it disappointing and incomprehensible. You should satisfy your customers, not rip them off! Hopefully, it changes back to how it used to be soon!

This is a sushi restaurant I love to visit with my family. It offers a standard all-you-can-eat menu, and table service is provided. Friendly staff, but sometimes a bit busy, so make sure to book in advance.

The food is absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is fantastic! We always come back here.

Super fresh sushi and sashimi. Generous portions of hot dishes. The food is excellent. Not as overly salty as other AYCE sushi restaurants. Friendly staff! Update 6-9-2025: Still as good as it was years ago!

Amazing experience! We went for a dinner for two and had an absolute blast. I even told my boyfriend I could easily make it to round 5, by round 3 I was already praying for mercy. We left so full we could barely walk home. The food was delicious, though I did find the sushi slightly warmer than what I’m used to. I usually prefer it a touch colder, but I’ve since learned that authentic sushi is traditionally served closer to body temperature, so clearly, I still have things to learn! We’ll definitely be coming back. My only tip: avoid the tables right next to the bar. The owner tends to wash a rug in a bucket nearby, which isn’t the most appetizing sight during a meal.

Super tasty, nice atmosphere and fast food. Whether you come on Wednesday or Saturday.

A lackluster atmosphere, no music, no ice in your glass, and sometimes a long wait for your food. And to top it all off, they were drinking heavily all night. Not something I'll be returning to.

Always well organised, we usually just arrive on spec with our little girl. Well on time. Around half past four, five o'clock. You can always choose a spot. Nice people, good service.

Had to wait terribly long. We left after two and a half hours after having only received 2 rounds of sushi. We got desert elsewhere. The only reason for the second star is that the quality of the sushi was good. Yet they won't see me here again.

Was there for the first time, we often go to these types of restaurants, but this one was really bad. The food was half cooked or overcooked. With every order we placed, something was missing and with the last order of two pieces I was waiting more than 25 minutes and I didn't get it either, so I was done with it and complained and paid and left and then you get the whole story about your whole story, yes, sorry, sorry, but I don't buy anything for that, end of the story, lost a lot of money and still went home hungry.

People who say that the staff here are friendly are very quickly satisfied and are not used to anything. The people who work here are anything but friendly. They forget everything, drinks you order never arrive at your table. This only happens after the 2nd reminder. You can also wait a long time for cutlery or napkins. It's also bizarre that there are new staff around every time, I've never seen the same waitresses twice. Although I have to say, if my staff were walking around in Adidas vests in a professional company, I would stop doing that too. But there are also positive sides of course, otherwise we wouldn't come here every month. The food is really delicious. And that goes above and beyond all of the above. Perhaps Shinsen can invest in iPads or the like so that guests can order food and drinks. You immediately get rid of the nagging that staff leave the sheets for too long or that orders are forgotten.

Delicious food and very good, friendly service. Lots of choice and nice all you can eat concept, 5x5 dishes per person. Pleasant crowds. A bit ugly building, but that is Huesmolen's own of course. Recommended!

The prices are quite high. A la carte is therefore not attractive unless you want to pick up a quick sushi. But quite expensive for a family. Nice restaurant in terms of atmosphere and decoration. Free parking next door. There is no play corner or something like that for smaller children, so it is not suitable for children who want to run around.

Eating sushi according to the well-known concept. More than enough.

Poor service, restaurant was half empty and took a very long time to get our food. We didn't get some dishes. Lady who came to return our form literally threw the form on the table and immediately walked away. When paying, the lady was the only one who asked for debit card or cash and was busy on her iPad, so we had to ask for a receipt ourselves. And this makes it really 1 star for us, focusing on contact with your guests at that moment

Delicious food, a bit chaotic. Only got everything in the first round, then mistakes started to creep in. Ultimately, there is more than enough, even for very big eaters. The only pity is that as the evening progresses, the very young service makes more and more mistakes and eventually there is no one left to serve. It is clear that you are supposed to leave around half past nine on Saturday. Nevertheless, the food was delicious and enough choice for everyone

Good concept, choice of many dishes for a fixed price. Very suitable for children. You can choose a maximum of 5 dishes per person per course and that too for 5 rounds. We usually don't make it past round 3 and choose about 3 dishes per person at a time. The dishes are freshly prepared and you can taste that. Free ample parking next door. We had a wonderful time with our family again tonight.

Nice restaurant, food is. Otherwise good quality and staff are friendly and attentive. Most of the staff are students. The gentleman and lady I think owners or management give extra service and attention.

Nice and easily accessible restaurant. Sushi is less tasty than other All You Can Eat restaurants. Service is friendly but really needs training, soy sauce and wasabi brought later than the food. Then they brought the wasabi, but had to ask for the soy again. The last round we had to wait a very long time until the note was collected. In the end we took it to the bar ourselves with a handwritten napkin with which dessert we wanted.

Unfriendly staff where hygiene is not of paramount importance. Washing hands after defecating is not a habit, and a lot of food is straight from the microwave from the days before, even if it doesn't keep.

You don't have to come here for the atmosphere. Unless you like stickers on the wall. But of course you don't go to an all-you-can-eat restaurant for the atmosphere. Of course you go for the food and it is absolutely delicious! It's always enough! The staff is friendly. The staff is a bit young and sometimes inexperienced, but that is to be expected in this day and age. The staff does not make any fuss about the maximum number of dishes you order. For us, it is the sushi restaurant that we keep coming back to.

I've got a piece of not a fresh nigiri with tuna . It was smelling badly and looked greyish. I did return it back to the kitchen, but my appetite was ruined for the evening. Also, they did not even apologise for it.

We arrived at a quarter past 7 and ordered the first round. It just came after fifteen minutes. Then we ordered a second round and it never came. After waiting 40 minutes we asked the server where our food was. He took our tray with him again, but my friend had already marked some of his dishes for the third round, so we suddenly got 12 dishes in 10 minutes. Because of this we were full very quickly. At 9.15 pm the waiter came to ask if we wanted dessert, while I think you can eat for 2.5 hours. Fortunately we were able to get a discount. What bad service. The server herself was sweet and friendly, but the woman was very curt and unkind. She had friends who she gave more attention than her customers.

Food was okay service was really bad my friends had sushi and they got it almost quickly but I don't like fish so I ordered chicken and everything. Me friends got their food quickly and me only after 20 minutes so I only ate very bad and young servers. A reason never to come again.

Ambiance is very cheap, not very atmospheric. In terms of food, it has all been better in terms of choice and taste. Unfortunately, time is used. Maximum 2.5 hours.

A nice place to eat delicious sushi and catch up with friends!

Delicious food and friendly service. However, I didn't really find the restaurant attractive. I think this is mainly because there is little decoration, but there are a lot of windows. Just like in a fishbowl :) Furthermore, the service is variable. Everything went smoothly at the beginning, but at one point we had to wait more than half an hour, which was a bit of a shame. Anyway, the quality of the food was really excellent!

Het was erg druk waardoor we lang op de bestellingen moesten wachten, maar de tijd loopt gewoon door. Het eten was voortreffelijk en hadden we aan 3 rondes genoeg. Gelukkig maar want de 2 uur was toen ook om.

Het smaakt allemaal prima, hygiëne is goed op orde, locatie goed, sfeer is goed, zit lekker, niet teveel gepropt. Enig minpuntje was dat niet alles wat we bestelden geserveerd werd en de bediening het net effe te druk had. Verder goed en rustig geserveerd.

Top tent, komen er al jaren en blijft geweldig!

Wij komen hier vrijwel iedere week. De beste sushi in de hele omgeving. Nergens zo goed als hier. 🤗😊

Dit is onze go-to sushi restaurant. We komen hier elke 2 maanden op z’n minst. Sushi is altijd lekker en bediening is snel. Zelfs als het druk is. De enige opmerking die ik zou kunnen hebben is dat IPads handigers zijn dan de losse papiertjes.

Lekker eten en vriendelijke service. De uitgelichte gerechten op de kaart zijn ook écht aanraders. Was we zoals je verwacht, vandaag (zaterdag) geweest weer service ten top.

Shinsen is mijn favoriete sushi restaurant! Ze hebben hier zulke lekkere sushi. Ook lekkere grill gerechten. Qua sushi is er best veel keuze, dus de doorgewinterde sushifanaat kan z’n lol op hier. Maar ook de liefhebbers van vlees en vis kunnen moeiteloos hun buik vol eten hier. 😉 Echt een aanrader, zeker het proberen waard!

Wat hebben we lekker gegeten zeg ! Alles vers bereid en best grote porties per keer. Assortiment is groot en aardig personeel. De rondes werden snel uitgeserveerd. Het restaurant zat goed vol maar is zo opgezet dat je geen last hebt van elkaar. Je gaat ons zeker nog een keer terug zien hier.

Wij hebben daar net lekker gegeten! Eten was echt super goed en lekker. We hadden ook echt het idee dat het eten per gerecht vers werd gemaakt! Zeker een aanrader om te eten, alleen jammer voor ons omdat wij zelf uit Brabant komen.

Voor de eerste keer gegeten (met dochter voor pre-vaderdag) en het is een heuse aanrader geworden. Geen foto's van eten of gerechten gemaakt, maar lekker genoten van de atmosfeer plus lekkere hapjes.

Leider konnte man nur "All you can eat" bestellen, also maximal 5 Runden mit maximal 5 kleinen Speisen pro Person. Nach 3 Runden waren wir mehr als satt. Die Qualität ist überwiegend gut, nur Weniges hat uns nicht geschmeckt. Sushi ist in Ordnung, Garnelen Tempura sehr gut, Lammkoteletts auch sehr gut. Preis war für die Menge angemessen.

Vriendelijk personeel en lekker eten!

Vriendelijke werknemers, het eten komt snel, goed systeem. Echt een aanrader.

Een ok sushi restaurant, kwaliteit lijkt een beetje matig. Wellicht veel standaard inkoop bij de groothandel. Soms vreemde saus keuze bij gerechten bijvoorbeeld knoflook saus bij de tonkatsu (krokant varkensvlees en knoflook saus bij de krokante kip. Bij de garnalen kroketten zit dan weer zoete chilisaus, maar dat is ook een kwestie van smaak. Over het algemeen prima eten maar eerlijk gezegd zijn er in de omgeving betere sushi restaurants. Net als bij veel sushi restaurants erg vol en druk, niet heel prettig zitcomfort op de banken en stoelen.

De keuken en dus het eten is super. Alleen de bediening, dat kan stukken beter. Er is geen beleving!

Het eten is altijd wel oké. Alleen het personeel doet maar wat. Uiterst onvriendelijk en niet gedreven.

Heerlijk gegeten, ik kom zeker eens terug!

Voor het eerst en voorlopig ook voor het laatst hier gegeten. Matige kwaliteit eten en ronduit slecht bediening. Nu zal dat komen door gebrek aan personeel, hier staan 16 jarigen zonder enige ervaring in de bediening. Eten wordt op tafel gezet zonder dat ze weten wat ze serveren en continue lege glazen op tafel. Jammer dat ze niet beter ingewerkt worden.

Wat een lekkere eten vlees sushi ijs alles was super lekker de bediening was ook gastvrij en de locatie ook top zeker 1 keer in de maand daar eten

Wij hebben met zijn drieën heerlijk gegeten. Het restaurant ziet er erg sfeervol uit! De bediening is vlot en de medewerkers zijn allemaal aardig. Ik kom hier zeker nog wel een keer terug.
