Daily special: Red gurnard... freshly grilled... various sauces that you can help yourself to... simply fantastic value for money!!!! ☺️ With a delicious Chardonnay... You could do a lot worse, LOL 😂

I highly recommend the place if you want to eat or buy fresh seafood. However freshness comes at a price…As a low note, last time the meal: Canadian crab with cheese crust, was a poor choice as the crab was buried basically under a ton of some sort of béchamel sauce - definitely not recommend. Other dishes are much better. Otherwise, atmosphere, staff don’t expect too much, any special treatment, as it’s more of a fast-food kinda of vibe, which is fine with me, given the setup.

The selection is good, portions are quite large, and the taste is quite good, but I've had much better fish for a similar price. It's definitely worth a try, but it's not a must.

A lot for a good price And delicious September 16, 2025 Sometimes a review gets outdated and you have a less-than-ideal meal, which is a shame, but it's compensated by all the times it was good. Only this time the fries weren't good and the cod fillet was tasteless, tough, and dry. It's a shame, my wife said the same, so it wasn't my fault, which could have been better. My scampi was delivered without a little lemon water to degrease my fingers. Those are definitely some minor drawbacks and could be improved.

Yesterday was my second time here, and what a disappointment. My memories of the first time were probably far too rosy. It's a run-of-the-mill junket where the food is served without love, like a factory assembly line. The lobster thermidor was just the dish with cheese and ragout. There was only a piece of lobster meat in the tail, but otherwise, it was nowhere to be seen. The mussels were also a major disappointment. Little flavor and a small pan for that price. Three weeks ago in Zeeland, they were much better, and even better. Only the shrimp croquette was edible. Having to queue for drinks is also incredibly annoying, something I completely forgot after the first time. No more Simonis by the harbor for me. The price/quality ratio is disproportionate. There are much better fish restaurants out there.

The fish was tasty but a bit undercooked, and the fries weren't really warm. I think they were too busy to provide proper service! It wasn't bad, but I expected a bit more!

It's always nice to eat some fish

Delicious kibbeling with fries, but of course, many other types of fish. The kibbeling platter at €19.50 is actually too much for one person. But you can ask for a bag of kibbeling to take home. It's really nice that you can help yourself to various sauces (for free). The restaurant is large and has a spacious outdoor terrace. You can use a pager to pick up your food when it goes off. And another plus: free parking around the corner (if you're lucky enough to find a spot).

The fish is delicious. The atmosphere is great. My favorite music. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the sunshine. I had two sole. My wife had a steamed bass. The food was excellent; it couldn't be fresher.

Best choice for fish in Scheveningen and the surrounding area. Very busy, but the flow is good. Generous portions, especially the platters. 9 euros for a container of kibbeling (fried fish), 19 for a platter of lekkerbek (fried fish) with fries. Excellent organization.

Unfortunately, Simonis has become a real dumping ground, where, unlike in the past, the quality has also declined significantly. If you try to complain about the food, the staff simply shrugs their shoulders. So, for now, it's the last time I've been there.

We ate at this Scheveningen rest stop with our son and four-month-old granddaughter. Not that our granddaughter is on solid food yet, but more to get her used to the smell of the harbor. 😉 We'll definitely be back when she gets a taste. 😀

Simonis is a well-known name for the Dutch fish-eater. A huge selection, excellent advice, and a customized meal if desired. Outside the restaurant, you can also buy fish to take home.

For years, I've been enjoying fish at Simonis. Today was no exception. I ordered two dishes, one with kibbeling (fried fish) and the other with cod plaice. The waitress brought these delicious dishes to us. Within a second, our table was swarmed by a whole colony of large seagulls. My daughter's plate was destroyed. Her iced tea flew over. Within seconds, everything was gone. The waitress was still standing there. I gave her my daughter's plate and asked if she could fix it. Of course, Simonis can't do anything about those seagulls. But giving half a plate of food back as compensation seems a bit meager for this large company.

We had the shrimp menu with spicy mayo and a "lekkerbek" menu. Order at the cash register. The menus are brought to the table, and the rest, drinks and sauces, is self-service. You come here for the fish; everything else is secondary. Portions are relatively large. The prices are high for a fast-food restaurant and the menu structure. When it gets a bit busier, there's a lot of noise. Parking had become more expensive again, even in their own parking lot—TOO expensive. We won't be coming here (often) again.

Whenever I'm in the area, I simply HAVE to pop in and order some fried cod or fried mussels. Delicious!!! And I always take a portion of herring home with me!

We were craving fish and were recommended a restaurant in a side channel of the harbor, a place we would never have normally gone to. On the right side, a fishmonger with delicatessen and freshly caught fish, and on the other side, a restaurant with fair prices and a great selection. I hadn't eaten gurnard since I was a child and was very impressed by the food and wine. Highly recommended.

The service and quality of food has deteriorated. All the soups were oversalted! Everything in the batter was overfried and tasteless!

Love this place. Like being home back in Key West but without a billion tourists. Excellent fresh seafood. Great service, nice staff.

We always plan a visit to Simonis at the harbor during our vacation. This year was no exception. We enjoyed the "Simonis Walk" and ordered a portion of mussels. The quality hasn't changed, thankfully; everything is super fresh. The ambiance is somewhere between a traditional Dutch pub and a bistro. Nevertheless, it's a great place to spend time. I'm a bit confused about the parking fees. €12.50 per hour, but it should be free for guests for the first 75 minutes. When I left, I was charged €7.50 even though we were only inside for 1 hour and 8 minutes. Not a big deal, we had a good meal, and it's vacation time, but still. See you next time.

Picked up a portion of herring for a great price. Although my herring order wasn't filleted right in front of me, the turnover is very high, making the fish incredibly fresh. The flavor was delicious: rich, fatty, and exactly what you'd expect from good herring. Parking nearby is difficult without breaking the rules.

It was delicious and inexpensive, and we got a huge amount. We enjoyed sitting outside, but it's not in a pleasant location; it looks more like an industrial area. Luckily, we heard through the grapevine that the food there is good, otherwise we probably wouldn't have found it.

It's a shame that parking now costs money. Very unfortunate, but understandable.

Delicious food in an authentic fish market atmosphere!

Incredible food for incredible prices. Quality of the seafood is excellent! Outside lacks a little bit of atmosphere, but that's not a reason to miss this seafood!

Wow! Spectacular! I loved it. Everything was delicious. And their sauces were delicious. Table service was fast and good. We didn't have to wait at all to get in and sit down to eat. Plus, inside the restaurant, they have a takeout counter where you can get a sandwich, various snacks, fish, fried foods, assorted snacks, oysters, etc. There's also a small supermarket and an oyster area. A great discovery for us. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to the Netherlands. Highly recommended for eating fish and seafood 🐟 🦞.

It's exactly what you'd expect, but essentially it's just a more elaborate fish shack; it's definitely not a restaurant. After numerous recommendations, I finally went. Some dishes are delicious, others are nothing special. I found the atmosphere cluttered and noisy due to the constant walking back and forth. The reason, and also a drawback, is that you have to get your own drinks, desserts, and sauces. I even had to queue for my expensive drinks, which is a bit pathetic. Parking is also a hefty 6 euros per hour, so keep that in mind. I wanted to have a herring but didn't want to be 10th in line for it, which is a shame. Aside from the delicious large Spanish prawns and Dutch shrimp cocktail, this will be our last time; we know better places.

At Simonis in the harbor, you don't come for the atmosphere or the service, but for the delicious fish and the generous portions. It's always busy, and you're often lucky to find a table, but the wait is usually short because there are so many tables. The menu offers a huge selection, including many fried fish dishes like kibbeling (fried fish) and calamari. Many people leave with a doggy bag because the portions are so generous, so sharing is a good idea. Across the street from the restaurant, there's a paid parking lot belonging to the restaurant where you can park your car.

Top quality for a reasonable price

I'm happy that dogs are welcome. You really get a lot for your money in terms of food, and it tastes great.

I know from previous experience that this is a great fish restaurant, but it was so busy that we went next door to Roeleveld. A little less fancy, but also good food and quieter.

Bad A lot of money for what you get. The salmon sandwich is just one slice, see-through. The staff is busy with themselves and leaves customers standing there while they watch. They just went somewhere else to get something to eat and drink.

Bad experience. Upon entering, it's actually like a McDonald's, only with unfriendly staff. We placed our order without a "good afternoon" or a "hello." It was our first time here, so we had no idea how things worked. We ordered food and drinks and were given a pager. The food was delivered outside anyway, but without sauce or drinks. "Yes," said the waitress, who didn't speak Dutch, "you have to get it yourself inside!" So, while the food was getting cold, we had to queue inside to get our own sauce, then queue for drinks, which you get by showing your receipt (luckily, we still had the receipt). This system wasn't explained to us while we were ordering, which was very helpful! The untrained staff with sour faces clearly aren't a pleasant place to work, and you really feel this as a customer! Meanwhile, the food had gotten cold in this mess. Absolutely not recommended!

There is an improvement for everything

You can eat anything fish-related here. The two of us had lunch, and the prices have clearly gone up considerably.

The meal is sufficient but heavy with frying oil.

Returned after years. Had a delicious, extensive lunch with kibbeling (cod), some sauces, and a glass of white wine. The quality and flavor were just as good as all the previous times. A good, large lunch and very affordable. If you're not familiar with Simonis, I definitely recommend stopping by. The food selection is enormous, fresh, and delicious.

Very big portions and a wide array of choices. We expecially enjoyed the lobster soup and fried calamari. Great price as well and the self-serve sauce bar is a huge plus. We're disappointed that a lot of items in the menu were sold out while we were there, but there is still many alternatives. Good experience overall. However there's so many birds around the outdoor seats they are constantly shitting near your food, which is a point of caution.

From Schiphol Airport, take the subway to Den Haag Central. From Den Haag Central, take bus number 28 and get off at the 10th stop. It's a 10-minute walk. Perhaps because it's Sunday, there's a flea market on the way back from the bus stop, and old men busk along the street. Seagulls and herons come to scavenge leftover food from empty plates, so go when the outdoor tables are crowded. There's a line as soon as you enter, and you have to look at the menu to choose. There are no pictures on the menu. You tell them what you want, pay, and they vibrate the buzzer. Like a Korean food court, your number appears on the TV. It's faster to just go and get it from the waiter when your number appears. Dipping sauce is self-service. Medium grilled tuna + Heineken costs about €26. The portions are generous and delicious, making it a great value. The tuna grill comes with fries, salad, two pieces of boneless tuna, and teriyaki sauce. The fries are crispy, as expected. Dipping the tuna in teriyaki sauce creates a burst of sweet and salty flavor and juicy meat. It's incredibly delicious. Judging by the signed Dutch national soccer team jerseys on display, it's clear they had a company dinner here. The beach is nearby, making it perfect for a big meal and a stroll. Anyway, if you're in The Hague, be sure to stop by.

Nice place with good food and fast service

A busy "food shack" on an industrial street, but with very generous portions and absolutely affordable prepared fish. They also offer a selection of seafood. Fast service. Order and pay at the counter; you'll receive a large tag. Pick up your drink and receipt at the bar next door. Find a spot in the crowded dining room or on the covered terrace. (Because of the cheeky and greedy seagulls outside.) Make sure to place your tag precisely in the steel ring attached to the table, otherwise they won't serve you. While waiting, you can pump your own sauce at the very back of the restaurant, and unlike all other fast food restaurants, these sauces are all free. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 When your food is ready, a server will quickly bring your dish out of nowhere. The carefully placed tag apparently transmits your location, so they know where to find you. The dishes come with a generous portion of fried fish (or grilled these days) and are accompanied by a huge portion of fries. The fish is generally not seasoned with fish, and salt and pepper are on the table. The fries are limp (only fried once?) and tasted colder than the fish. We don't come here for the fries, but the generous portion of fish makes up for it. Our favorite fish is whitefish, not cod. Here too, a small 200ml bottle of soda costs €3.75 / approximately 300ml €4.95, and Texel Skuumkoppe (large) on tap €7.50. The Hollandse Nieuwe (Dutch New Herring) tasted fine, though it's small and unfortunately no longer the best in the Netherlands. The onions are fresh, but I personally don't use them with my herring. Restrooms are available at the back of the restaurant, but they're not very clean anymore. If you can't finish your plate, you can use paper bags or containers at the checkout, which gives you an even better sense of value for your money. Throughout the day (open until 8 p.m.), it's a constant stream of customers and attentive servers. For those who enjoy fish or seafood, this is a fun experience, and you definitely won't go home hungry.

Simonis aan de Haven is my favorite restaurant in the city. It’s a true institution that serves fresh seafood in satisfying quantities. Its not pretentious, it’s not fancy, has the feel of a working class canteen at times with the way the ordering works. Yet, the food is fantastic. This time I had the sardines, my wife the fish and chips. It was absolutely to die for. Delicious fresh fried fish, huge portions. We certainly left satisfied. I can also recommend the seafood platter, which is well composed (we had it previously). I wish there would be Simonis equivalents where I currently live, but it is a one of a kind place.

Delicious food, friendly staff, fantastic place to eat together with family

The price-quality ratio is excellent. The fish is fresh and well-prepared.

The fish is of high quality, and the fresh and smoked fish is especially delicious. The atmosphere is also very relaxed. Fine for a quick bite, but don't expect a cozy restaurant. Portions are very (too) large, leaving a lot of food behind after guests leave. Simonis still has some catching up to do in this area, particularly in terms of sustainability.

It's worth trying the fish stew.

Elk jaar proberen we het weer maar elke keer weer waardeloos!! Personeel chagrijnig, niet vriendelijk en AROGANT. Je krijgt een pieper mee voor je eten als je dan wilt gaan halen word er op arrogante manier duidelijk gemaakt dat hij mee loopt om het vervolgens letterlijk neer te smijten. Nederlands praten kunnen ze hier niet. Gebakken vis zit zo vol met graat dat het geen fijn mond g voel heeft en niet weg te krijgen is. En er moet echt iets gedaan worden aan de gratis saus.... gewoon belachelijk hoe ze daar lopen te pompen..... 12 bakjes !!!! Voor iemand met 1 gebakken vis. Blonde meid achter de kassa was het enige vrolijke wat er rond liep.... En dan nog vis verkopen en geen fatsoenlijke wijn in de aanbieding hebben... Jammer weer.. Neem gewoon normaal fatsoenlijk personeel aan dat ook nog een NEDERLANDS praat we wonen in NEDERLAND zo wil ik ook behandeld worden.

Simonis aan de Haven moet uitkijken dat ze niet ten onder gaan aan hun eigen succes, kwaliteit wordt minder en de vis wordt duurder,ondanks dat kom ik er nog wel graag.

Simonis restaurant is veel te duur geworden. Kwaliteit vinden wij redelijk. Parkeerkosten op eigen terrein tegen 6€ per etentje klinkt belachelijk. Helaas komen we nooit meer naartoe.

Comida muy mala y sosa. Demasiado caro considerando el sabor. No recomiende nada. Seco y soso y de sabor extraño. No vayas por tu propio bien.

Nadat het bedrag voor de bestelling van mijn rekening werd afgeschreven en mijn bestelling niet kwam werd ik voor leugenaar uitgemaakt bij de kassa en vervolgens met kanker bescholden toen ik hier wat van zei. Absoluut niet aan te raden, zaak is niet meer wat het geweest is.

Kwaliteit is achteruit gegaan. Kibbeling veel kleine harde stukken, friet slap, alleen maar mayonaise en tomatensaus aanwezig, salade waterig. Bediening niet klant vriendelijk. Waren meer met elkaar bezig.

On over troffen Fruit-de-Mer schotel!! Wat een feest, keurig door dhr Dennis zelf - meen ik - in orde gemaakt voor meenemen en daar konden de vriendjes en ik met een klein glaasje goede wijn erbij genieten van een festijn aan lekkers!!!

Gisteravond dachten wij gezellig wat te gaan eten bij Simonis. 85 euro lichter en met een heel slecht gevoel naar huis. Bij het bestellen voor en hoofdgerecht apart besteld word het gebracht wordt alles in 1 keer op tafel gegooid. Wij vragen netjes waarom antwoord nou dan zal je het wel zo besteld hebben . Ze willen ook het hoofdgerecht niet mee terug nemen . Dan vragen is er nog een chef in deze zaak het antwoord er zijn er zo veel dus Ook dat liep op niets uit . Dus mijn man boos naar de kassa want daar was het fout gegaan. Wat hij niet wist dat er van medewerkster was gewisseld dus hij werd boos op de verkeerde. Eindelijk iemand aan onze tafel ook had ik niet gekregen wat ik had besteld. Dus hoofdgerecht werd meegenomen en alsnog later geserveerd . Wederom het verkeerde eten. Ondertussen komt er een medewerkster op hoge poten excuses eisen voor de grote mond due zij had gekregen . Wij waren al klaar na het voorgerecht . Mijn man heeft nog wel tegen de verkeerde kassamedewerkster gezegd sorry dat hij niet wist dat zij op het moment van bestellen niet achter de kassa zat. Al met al een teleurstellende avond en wij komen al jaren bij simonis aan de haven . Het eten wad goed maar de sfeer er omheen was super slecht

Met alle respect voor de eigenaren van deze zaak, maar wat een onvriendelijk en nors personeel – het wordt elke keer slechter! Het toilet is vies, de tafels en stoelen zijn vuil, en de dames aan de kassa kijken je aan alsof je bij hen thuis bent binnengedrongen. Alles doen ze met tegenzin… Het is gewoon verschrikkelijk

Heerlijk eten kibbeling met patat en een lekkerbek met 2 personen, personeel prima maar het parkeerbeleid, belachelijk, €9.00 parkeerkosten, heb er goed uur geweest.

Helaas is Simonis de laatste tijd erg veel aan kwaliteit achteruit gegaan. Personeel niet vriendelijk en kortaf. Leek wel of ze er geen zin in hadden. Vieze tafels. En als klap op de vuurpijl: betaald parkeren. Visje gegeten, 6 euro zoveel betalen voor parkeren, terwijl dit vroeger gratis was. Ga er niet meer heen. Voor klanten moet parkeren gratis zijn zoals bij veel andere restaurants, bv Van Der Valk !!

Heb 3 keer de visschotel van 15,50 gehaald en een portie kibbeling. Op het laatste was het even wachten. Thuisgekomen was de lwaliteit zoals zovaak prima. Moest nu wel 3€ betalen voor even parkeren om af te halen. Dat vind ik toch wel overdreven. Daarom 4 sterren in plaats van 5.

Un endroit très fréquenté par les familles. Les produits de la mer proposés sont cuisinés sur place et les portions sont généreuses.

Leuke plek, genoeg zitgelegenheden. Vriendelijk personeel en heerlijk eten. Ook het winkeltje eraan vast staat vol lekkers.

Helaas is het niet meer zoals vroeger. De slibtongetjes waren gewoon op te hoog vuur gebakken. Zwart tot donkerbruin gebakken. De zwartste lag onderop. Jammer.

Garnalen cocktail besteld, vond dit erg karig met een blaadje sla en de saus in een klein bakje er naast en dat voor 17,50. Voor deze prijs mag ik wel wat meer aandacht voor dit product verwachten. Ook de paling op brood leek wel gehalveerd met de vorige keer.

You won't get better fish anywhere else. It is very busy inside. The tables are placed closely next to each other. Decor is nice.
