SIZZ restaurant in De Weteringschans

As an Indian, I’m shocked to taste Sizz Amsterdam’s so called Indian food. It’s absolutely unappetising food, possibly warming up super market bought food for high prices. chicken tikka was like rubber, butter Paneer, I haven’t tasted a worse butter paneer elsewhere, only saving grace was Paneer kofta. Their cocktails were bad as well, which should have been a clue for us but we decided to give it a chance ( worst decision ever). Please avoid this place

I made a reservation for three people last night (November 19th) through Social Deal. Yesterday, my partner and mother and I traveled all the way from Rotterdam to Amsterdam to dine with you, but we arrived at 5:30 PM to find the door closed. I was incredibly disappointed yesterday. I'd already paid for the Social Deal, we traveled for over an hour and paid for our train tickets, and you didn't even bother to call or email me beforehand to cancel your order. The strange thing is that we stood outside for a while, and then a delivery driver showed up who had received an order for your restaurant but couldn't deliver either. We were incredibly disappointed and find it very strange that we had made a reservation and paid and then couldn't dine with you. Now you're replying here on Google to email me, but of course, I did that immediately on November 19th, and nobody responded. Very antisocial.

The food was beautifully presented and delicious! The service was excellent.

Recently we had dinner at Sizz and it was such a wonderful experience.The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we felt welcome throughout our visit. The food itself was amazing! full of rich flavors, perfectly spiced and beautifully presented. it’s fantastic spot if you’re craving delicious Indian cuisine in a comfortable and cozy setting. We left feeling happy, satisfied, and definitely eager to return.

Dropped in for a quick dinner before an event elsewhere. Quite easy to get to by travel, right up against a GVB stop. The starter bread was solid. I had the vindaloo curry and I appreciated the spice. Thoroughly tasty, the lassi was also a good drink. The interior was pleasant, and the staff was friendly and rather relaxed. Nicer than I had bargained for.

The staff were so nice!!! We made a reservation for 2 people and we had 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. The food was hot and tasted amazing! The restaurant is very cozy and my friend and I enjoyed ourselves.

I had dinner at Sizz last Saturday and I had a great time! The food was absolutely amazing and the staff members were incredibly kind. The food was served pretty fast after ordering which was great!

Service and atmosphere is good but food taste has to be improved. It was blant but no taste.

Delicious Tikka Masala and Mango Lassi (yogurt-mango). 🤤 I received excellent advice on what to order. The Chai Tea left a slightly bitter aftertaste, which didn't exactly please me 🫤 (maybe that's how it's supposed to be 🤷‍♂️). They could polish the cutlery and plates a bit better. All in all, a good meal 👍.

It’s was a nicely decorated restaurant however the food was not up to the same par. For the price of the curry i was not expecting to have to ask mine to be heated as soon as i was given it. The rice was cold before and after “heating” the curry was warm after sending back but was extremely watery and not much flavour. The service was not welcoming and we were hardly spoken to. It may have been a one off for us as reviews were great but not an enjoyable meal.

I was here yesterday with a group of non Indian friends . We all had social deal but one of our friends forgot to reserve because I had told in my reservation that I will go with friends and we all have social deal but we were told that she can’t use her voucher and lady at reception was literally forcing my friend to eat without social deal and that she can use voucher later , upon a lot of request and asking that we can reserve now she let us use the voucher but with all this drama out mood was upset already . After this food arrived which was not good also , overly sweet curries and stale portions , and there was no mention or ask if we want anything else or how everything went . We had 3 course deal but we left without desert not that anyone cared. Overall bad food and bad service so I am not coming here again . Also this place seems to be run by amateurs who have no experience in being customer oriented .

Date: 31st October 2025 Reservation Time: 8:00 PM One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in years! The waiting time was extremely long, and when the food finally came, it was a total disappointment. The mixed starters were bland, and the lamb main course was terrible. To make it worse, the waitress asked if I’d like to order naan — when I said yes, she suddenly changed her tone and said it would take longer, then awkwardly stopped mid-sentence. Very unprofessional and confusing service. Overall, this is the worst Indian restaurant I’ve been to in a decade. Absolutely not worth the time or money!

This was by far the worst Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The butter chicken was watery, and the chicken itself seemed raw. The butter naan was dry and even had a burnt taste. The appetizers were greasy and definitely not pleasing to the eye. And what was especially appalling was the lack of hospitality and the fact that we had to wait over an hour for our food. Febo has even more charm.

We came here to utilize our Amex offer. I am really sorry to see that Amex is including this kind of restaurant for an experience. The menu they have for Amex offer which is 50€per person apparently, is so limited. If one person is vegetarian and the other non vegetarian they are forced to order same kind of starter. In veg main course they don’t even have one paneer option. There is only aloo baigan and korma. Not everyone likes these in veg option. I certainly don’t. Why would I be forced to eat something as my experience that I don’t like. The food that came was not even good quality. I ended up leaving it. Neither taste nor presentation. Staff is rigid and not flexible to accommodate to dietary requirement. I would never come here. Will definitely send feedback to Amex that they should remove such restaurants from the list. I am so disappointed in American Express too for not doing their due diligence. I feel like cheated

A taste of India in Amsterdam! Delicious food and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended if you're looking for Indian food in Amsterdam or the surrounding area.

We had a wonderful meal in a prime location in Amsterdam. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and modern decor. The service was friendly and attentive, and the dishes arrived quickly. The food itself was well-seasoned, spicy without being overpowering. The butter chicken and naan were especially delicious. The prices are reasonable considering the location! In short: a great place if you're looking for good Indian food in a central location in the city, without it feeling too touristy.

We came here for the Amex complimentary dining experience. The menu was limited and we could order 2 courses. Unfortunately the meat in one of the main dishes was not warm at all and we asked to send it back. It took a long while till the food came back..the rest of the other food on the table eg. Rice, nan all went cold and it disrupted the enjoyment of our dinner completely.. The food was decent and tasty, the overall service was good.

One of the pathetic Indian restaurants I would say. We went there with Amex experience and the menu was fixed already. So, our order was purposely delayed so that we order something from their menu and pay for that. Another table got filled much later than we ordered but they were getting their orders quickly. I ordered an additional item from their regular menu and it was served quickly and the items from Amex Experience took at least 20 minutes after my order was served. When it was served, the pakoda was not cooked inside. The paneer and vegetables were filled with lots of artificial colours saying that was tandoori. Will never visit this and will never recommend it to anyone. They say that it’s a fusion but there is nothing done in terms of that.

I ordered food by phone and wanted to pick it up myself, and after a 5-minute wait, I received everything. When I unpacked it at home, I saw how carefully everything had been packed, but more importantly, the portions were generous and the flavors delicious. For me, this is one of the best Indian restaurants. I'd love to go back.

Unfortunately, we waited 45 minutes for food; we forgot to reorder rice. The food wasn't very spicy, so it wasn't very Indian, and it wasn't anything special for the price.

Not a good experience here. The starter selection was OK. Then we ordered two different vegetarian curries (€18.50 each). They were nothing special, thin soup with nothing in it. When we complained to the waitress, her response was, "I don't like the vegan dishes either." We won't be going back.

I had a truly delicious meal, and the service was truly amazing. Eshita was our waitress and she was fantastic. She was a very sweet and hospitable woman. I had certain allergies, and they were very accommodating. There were also many vegetarian options.

I had a wonderful meal at Sizz! 🍛 The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. I especially recommend the paneer makhani and the vegetarian biryani 🤩. The samosa, pakora, and mocktails were also excellent; everything was fresh and flavorful. Definitely a place I'd love to return to! 🙌✨

I had a social deal that didn't work out. The purchase was presented differently than it actually was.

We ate here with a deal from Social Deals. It certainly wasn't the food itself. It was delicious. But the service was just awful. The staff were friendly, though. Everything took so incredibly long, and it wasn't that busy. They spent over 30 minutes making a cup of chai. I did leave a tip because the service was so friendly and the food was delicious. Not a complaint review, just an honest one.

We ordered a discounted menu through "To Good To Go" (to cover leftover food, or food that wasn't ordered in large quantities). Upon arrival, the bartender seemed clueless and sat us down. It took fifteen minutes before we could even get a waitress to pay attention. She did know about "To Good To Go." Ultimately, it took 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive and almost an hour for our food. The food barely felt fresh; we were only given a spoon to eat it with. Despite the waitress being very friendly and running around, she barely bothered us. The amount we paid was disproportionate to the quantity and quality of the food. It was also far too noisy, making it impossible to hear each other or the waitress. Something smoky (chicken, perhaps) was served to other customers, causing the entire restaurant to be practically flooded. Overall, we felt completely unwelcome, and the service was very poor.

In general a nice restaurant. We were excited about having Indian food. We ordered through their electronic pad which was fine with us, especially as you have pictures to the menu’s. Unfortunately our butter chicken was almost cold when it was served. But the naan was incredible!

Delicious food and very friendly staff. One of the biggest drawbacks was that the staff didn't seem to notice their work. Empty glasses and plates were left on our table for a very long time, and we had to repeatedly ask for them to be taken away. When food or drinks were brought, the staff member often left empty-handed, even though there were still dirty dishes on our table. We also had to ask for a new glass when we ordered soft drinks (and there were only beer glasses left on the table). Furthermore, the communication was sometimes very unclear. Ordering dessert wasn't easy with the tablet system (when you choose one dessert, the system says you've already chosen 5 out of 5 dishes—there were 5 of us). After we inquired about this, one of the staff members suggested we could have a variety of desserts. Finally, the dessert arrived: one type for everyone. We inquired about this; it turned out they were out of ingredients for the other desserts. Not a big deal, but it wasn't communicated. For the food and the friendliness, I would definitely recommend Sizz. However, the quality of 'service' can certainly be improved.

Great little restaurant with some nice dishes. Ordering is via an electronic handset which is not brilliant! We managed to get a hard copy menu in the end. However there were no prawns available at all so my Wife had to have the lamb which was fine but we were very surprised that they had no prawns at all!

We visited Sizz in Amsterdam hoping for a great Indian dinner. The food itself was flavorful, with rich spices and good portion sizes, but the service felt disorganized and the waiting time between courses was too long. The atmosphere was fine, though a bit noisy, making it hard to fully enjoy the meal. Overall, a decent option if you’re craving Indian food, but not the most memorable dining experience.

The food was amazingly spiced. We were a group of 6 - vegetarian and 1 meat eater. Vegetarians shared a starter platter and then 1 chicken kebab. Big portions. We all had a variety of mains. All great. Couldn't pick a favourite meal 😋 it was on a Social Deal.

A cozy Indian restaurant, located right on the Lijnbaansgracht canal. A friendly welcome from the staff. The food was delicious, from the appetizers to the main courses. For those who like and can tolerate spicy food, the Chicken Vandaloo is recommended. Overall, however, the restaurant could be better organized. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed at times. You had to ask for cutlery and napkins, and the cleanliness left something to be desired in some places. Hence my mixed review and honest criticism, which I hope those in charge will take to heart.

Took an hour to get our drinks???? It's like they forgot us. Took further 30 mins for starters to come. Then we stopped looking at the time. Menu and chairs were dirty with dried food/drink spots, the toilet has visibly not been cleaned recently it's so nasty, there is a flickering light leading up to the toilet and the floor down there is sticky. The music was the weirdest thing. It came on and off and so loud too, it's jarring. It's clear that it's coming from a radio and they probably didn't get a proper license to play copyrighted music. The service was plain bad. You can see they do what you ask but besides that they're nowhere to be found. You have to walk up and find them to order more after your initial order. Some of us didn't even have cutlery and had to ask it when our food came (after 1,5 hours!!!). We spent upwards of €40 per person. If the service was any good I dare say it was worth it, but nope. Never coming back. Thanks guys.

Disappointing food, the butter chicken was too sweet with artificial coloring and stale chicken. The butter naan extremely disappointing. Supermarkets have better naan on their shelves. We were sitting near the window and there was literally a dead spider hanging from the ceiling. Ugh. Avoid at all costs.

I've rarely been so warmly welcomed in a restaurant where the service was so hospitable, friendly, and helpful. My sincere thanks to Bruna, who helped us so well. The restaurant is very cozy and beautifully decorated. Upon entering, we were greeted very patiently. We were asked if they could take our coats or if we wanted to keep them with us. It was great to have a choice. We were shown to our table, which was already prepared for us. There was a sign on it that said "Welcome" and then the name of the person who had made the reservation. The table was set, and the pappadums with mango and mint chutney were already waiting. We were fasting. Bruna saw that we had brought dates and was so thoughtful to ask if we needed a glass of milk or more dates. This was so heartwarming. The food was truly delicious. When taking our order, Bruna suggested that we had chosen something very similar to our starters for our main course. She also very kindly pointed out that we were ordering quite a lot of food. She turned out to be right, as we couldn't finish it all. All the starters and main courses were delicious. The desserts (brownie and paneer cheesecake) were less than stellar, and the chai lacked flavor. I recommend trying a nice mint tea. There was also a small issue with my food, but it was resolved very professionally. My compliments on that. The price-quality ratio is excellent, especially considering the restaurant's location in Amsterdam City Center. Prices are usually a bit higher there. I will definitely be back and recommend it to everyone. The food wasn't just delicious, but I also felt pampered.

I have no idea about what happened recently with this place, but I will never eat from here anymore after being a loyal customer for long. I have mostly ordered delivery from here, great portions and great price usually, but there has been quite some confusion recently. I was passing by and I decided to go to the restaurant directly instead of ordering, to support the restaurant more and not go through ordering platforms, and of course even saving fees. I get presented the bill from my usual order which is around 25% higher than the ordering platform final total I always pay. I have simply asked how come is the bill higher if I go and support them directly? They were all clueless about it, no one seemed to know anything and that the owner (not there) was the only one who could answer, so I have just asked to cancel the order and that I would just bike home and order from uber eats at home for paying 25% less. The guy stopped me saying to not worry and that he will give me a 2x1 promotion on the butter chicken, and although i would pay one he would give me 2 portions. I agree, sounds fair. I get the food, I reach home, what they clearly did was splitting one small portion in 2 boxes, and on top of that it was a the wrong dish. One wants to support the place and this is what they get in return? Bad experience for a crazy high price.

It was a great spot next to the water and delicious food, I really recommend going here! We had a little mistake with my food but the waitress handled the mistake so well and made this such a great evening nonetheless.

The service staff who attends us are really sweet, just like their butter gravys 🙂. Don't sit in front of the kitchen open window for serving, atleast not when its no crowd. The staffs keep looking into the table. To cheff: Butter gravys get their sweetness from butter and caramalized onions, not from sugar And when a feeback is given don't discuss in your mother tongue in kitchen assuming couldn't be understood by the clients.

We arrived a little later in the evening and were warmly welcomed by Bruna, the waitress. We sat at a table by the window overlooking the water. We started with a small starter on the house. The food was also very delicious, and all our allergies were catered for. Our sauces were refilled several times, always with a friendly smile. Our visit was the best restaurant experience of our time in Amsterdam, and we can only recommend this wonderful place. Thank you for the amazing food!

Delicious Indian food. We went via the Amax promotion. The portions were very large, so we had more than enough with the 3-course menu. We could take the leftovers with us, very nice. The restaurant has a nice layout and does not seem busy, while there are a lot of people. Ideal to relax and enjoy delicious food.

Sizz Restaurant, Amsterdam – Style Over Substance, Hospitality Nowhere in Sight Visited at 20:55 after traveling from Isolatorweg (M50) After making the full journey from Isolatorweg, the very end of the M50 metro line, I arrived at Sizz Restaurant at 20:55, genuinely looking forward to winding down with a proper meal. What I got instead? A cold shoulder and an unwelcome surprise — I was flat-out refused dine-in service and told I could only order takeaway. No explanation, no apology, no “sorry, we’re closing early” — just a flat rejection. And mind you, this wasn’t some tiny food stand shutting down for the night. This was a restaurant still visibly open, with staff moving about and a few diners still finishing up. I wasn’t late. I was just apparently not welcome. For a place that promotes itself as modern, vibrant, and full of “sizzle,” there was none of that in their attitude or hospitality. After a long metro ride across the city, being dismissed at the door without consideration felt both rude and unprofessional. It doesn’t matter how decent your food is (though I wouldn’t know — I didn’t stick around for a boxed-up apology). If you can’t treat customers with basic respect, then you’ve already failed. Sizz might look good on the outside, but if you’re coming from far, don’t count on being treated like a guest. Rating: 1/5

staff was really nice but cant give this place a good rating. i ordered a main dish for 20euro which was just rice with some frozen vegetables in. Adding some frozen vegetables to rice is an easy vegan meal i also make at home but it tasted so bad here i stopped eating after two bites. And having this on the menu as a main dish for that price is just bonkers

We had a delicious meal here last week and all the staff were very sweet! Enjoyed the mixed veggie starter, freshly prepared onion bahji samosa, and various curries with paneer and lentils. Highly recommended and we will definitely come back!!

Recently went to Sizz for the first time and it was a nice experience! The food was not only tasty but there was also a lot of choice. Everything was well seasoned and tasted freshly prepared. The service was fast and friendly, which made the experience even better. The portions were quite large so we even brought food with us. Definitely recommended if you are looking for authentic Indian food in a cozy setting!

Simply amazing! I was surprised at how good the food was—everything was phenomenal. The chicken and lamb were both incredibly tender, melting in our mouths. The service was also outstanding and couldn’t have been better! Our waitress was so attentive, making sure we had fresh plates and a clean table between rounds. Bruna was especially sweet and took her time explaining everything to us since we were new to the place. Patrick, who apparently speaks Dutch, was also very kind and made us feel truly welcome. If I could recommend anything on the menu, I’d say try it all! But here are a few must-haves: • For spicy lovers: The Madras lamb and the butter chicken—just ask for it to be extra spicy! • For everyone: The Rogan Josh lamb, coconut naan, and of course, the chicken biryani. Hands down, the best biryani I’ve ever had. • For dessert: The pistachio mango ice cream—so delicious and unique! • And of course, if you like yogurt and mango, definitely try the mango lassi! I’ll be back 100%!

One of my favorite places in Amsterdam! We always go for the set menu to taste everything and then go home with a well-filled stomach and doggy bag! The mango lassi is delicious!

After some disappointing food in Amsterdam, Sizz was quite a pleasant surprise. We ordered a vindaloo king prawn, aloo benghain, and garlic naan. The portions were on the small side but were not heavy eaters so this was perfect for two. The flavors were spot on and the spice level was legit! Highly recommend if you want your Indian fix.

Sizz Indian Fusion was a great experience, good location in the center of Amsterdam. The restaurant was nice and fancy and the food was delicious. We tried the shared menu for 2 people, the food was more than enough and it was so nice to be able to test starters, main and all the deserts which were delicious. Outstanding naan and paneer, the chicken wings and samosas are great starters. Will definitely be going again!

We went to dinner today and the service was so good and very quick. The staff was incredibly kind, and the dishes they serve are absolutely delicious. The cheesecake and brownie they offer are incredible. We’ll definitely be back!

My fiancé told me about this place a few weeks ago so we had to come since we both love Indian. The food was delicious, the Tikka Masala Lamb was my favorite dish it was super tender, and I loved the lamb&chicken kebab it was something different for me. The ambience was excellent and chic, with nice music that was just the right volume. They also have delicious cocktails and desserts are a 10. Our waitress was truly kind and made sure to explain us everything, she gave us great recommendations about the menu. We’ll definitely be back for more. Highly recommend it!

I’m eating my leftovers as I’m writing this and I just have to say I highly recommend giving this place a try. There were big portions, delicious cocktails, and the kindest, sweetest staff. Our waitress was very accommodating throughout the night and gave us another bowl of spicy sauce when it was mentioned that the starters weren’t spicy enough. The bartender makes incredible cocktails (the pornstar martini especially) and, overall, the food was pretty good!

Fantastic Indian Dining Experience in Amsterdam. I had the pleasure of dining at this amazing Indian restaurant last night, and I can't recommend it enough! The cocktails were a delicious– each one was expertly crafted, flavorful, and high quality. The sharing menu for two was perfect – there was so much food! The portions were incredibly generous, and it was a great way to sample a variety of dishes. What really made the experience special, though, was the service. The waitresses were beyond lovely – attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcome. If you're in Amsterdam and craving great Indian food, this is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back!
