The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We shared three ceviches, and we loved the tuna ceviche the most. The service was fast and very friendly. The Maracuya Pisco is a truly killer cocktail—yummy!

Cozy and pleasant atmosphere. We were seated at the bar but still enjoyed the space. Drinks and food tasted great, and the bread was especially good. Service could be a bit faster, and it would be nice to have more vegetarian options. Overall a nice spot.

Loved dinner here- Great service, was busy but they made room for us to eat at the bar. the fish of the day was a flounder esque fish. was perfectly cooked and flaky and the seaweed was yum. Great polite staff and the room is cozy. what a nice restaurant.

In a word, excellent. A lovely restaurant, without too many pretensions. I think the €10 deposit per person upon reservation is fair. I ate here for the first time, and my expectations were more than exceeded: surprising, flavorful dishes. They paid attention not only to the taste, but also to the bite. Attentive staff, including the chef, who even came to chat with you at the table. Sjefietshé is truly one of those establishments you'd rather keep to yourself, a well-kept secret.

Absolutely Perfect! Don’t have a single thing I would improve. The food was absolutely delicious down to the last bite. Atmosphere is nice and dark with light music in the evening. Enjoyed the octopus ceviche, the shrimp croquettes, prawns, tuna, and even the seasoned butter for the bread was tasty. Highly recommend if in Amsterdam.

We had an incredible dining experience! The seafood was fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The ceviches were bright and refreshing, the burrata salad was creamy and perfectly balanced, and the calamari was light, crispy, and not at all greasy. The highlight for me was the octopusdog – unique, tender, and bursting with flavor – definitely a must-try. The staff were friendly and service was fast!

We found this restaurant by chance with a terrace in full sun. We were hungry. We ordered the most delicious and colorful buratta, clams with some Japanese leaves a delicious combination, the sardines were too spicy for our taste. The bread and butter so good. Loved everything!!! Must visit!

I came for the ceviche, and was also recommended the clams. If I had to choose between the two, the clams was my fav. Service was excellent. I am a solo traveller, the staff was super welcoming! This is a must if visiting Amsterdam.

This place was an unfortunate letdown. I have been wanting to come here for a while, so my partner surprised me and took me. Perhaps my expectations were too high based on the instagram pictures, but honestly 23 euros for a lobster roll that took me 6 bites to finish and some of that was just bread with sauce is laughable. The fishcakes were really good but again, other places in amsterdam do it better for cheaper. We also ordered the ceviche that was okay and the price was also what is commonly charged in the city. Our cocktails were very good and worth the price. The service was poor considering the prices that they charge.

Easily one of the best ceviche places in Amsterdam! This spot has been on our list for a while and we finally experienced it. It matched our expectations well and we had a lovely time. The atmosphere is warm and cozy with great music playing. Shout out to whoever put the playlist on cuz them tunes hit so hard they distracted me from the incredible food. Small tip: get the Quinta da Linhares, thank me later. Speaking of which, wow. The whole menu sounded incredible. Coming to a decision on what to get was very difficult! We'd recommend mixing around 5 dishes for two people in order to feel full. We started off with the classic ceviche, you have to right? Easily one of the best I've ever had. If you think that was great...get the tuna. Incredible. So rich and flavourful! To get some (more) freshness and change the flavours, we ordered the tomatoes with a lavas creme and almond crumble, simply lovely. I mean you can't go to a fishy spot and not get shrimp croquettes right? So damn right we got em. Guess what? Also incredible. The consistency is impressive to say the least. To finish the meal off we had to get the lobster roll. Do yourself a favour and this dish! The langoustine creme was lovely, the lobster buttery and soft and even the bread was tasteful. You can't go wrong with any of your choices! To treat ourselves at the end we decided to get both desserts. The passion fruit crème brulee was insanely incredible. Yes, it deserves two adjectives. Don't sleep on the fresh strawberries with mascarpone tho. Amazing way to end your experience with a fresh feeling. The staff was great, professional and very attentive. They took really good care of us and made us feel at home. I got nothing but praise for the pace of the service and how thoughtful they were. Zero notes! If you made it to the end, I salute you. If you don't check this spot out after reading all this you definitely don't love yourself. Go out and live people. Go experience Sjefietshé and be happy. A solid 4.7 ⭐

We wait one hour to get the menu ! Many people working there but no clue what they are doing …! Finally we got food and guess what ? Nothing special… only good thing was the wine … a place for drinks perfect ! A place for dinner .. think twice 😇

Everything started good… ceviche was one of the best i had ever….the main dish/hot meal took 1 hr and a half to be served - take note that it wasn’t even hot when we got it! We ordered same meal from the other table who came a little 20 mins later after we got there yet they got served with their hot meal (shrimp) first. We wanted to leave a good review but just the experience is not pleasant. The shrimp and scallop were not worth waiting for.

This restaurant is the real deal. I came here craving delicious Peruvian ceviche and a maracuya pisco sour and everything tasted exactly how I hoped it would. The dishes were rich in flavor and the presentation was beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they incorporated kumquat into the ceviche. It was absolutely delicious. Good portions and the staff was friendly. It's in a chill neighborhood as well. I would definitely recommend this location for anyone looking for an authentic Peruvian ceviche.

Expected more. Ceviches were not so balanced in taste, very sour. The fish that was used for the ceviche was fine but a bit tough and not super fresh. Sea bass was a bit overcooked. Staff very friendly!

A regular and favourite spot for us to grab a Ceviches that is close to a true Peruvian style if a bit sweet. Flavours on many dishes are good and they are consistent. It is pricey but I’d happily pay

For the food, this is a trap. For the ambiance in a warm day it is nice to sit outside. Classic ceviche was crazy salty. The octopus in the hot dog was cooked wrong (way too tough). Calamari tasted like old frying oil. This is absolutely not representative of Peruvian cuisine. The only good thing was sitting on the terrace in the warm weather and the San Pellegrino water lol. Service was okay.

Massively overpriced for what you get. I used to come here, but recently they upped the price in a crazy way.. I will never be back.. close to 200 euros for dinner for two with tiny portions that are just OK in an average mid range bar.. it’s no fancy restaurant just an average bar-which I like ..it’s a chill vibe with cool waiters but super super expensive for what you get.. No way simple prawns would cost close to 30 euros.. tap water in a bottle is just south of 10 euros,.. and you will need at least 6 portions to feel like you had dinner.. I know we have inflation in the country but prices have doubled in a space of one year... I would avoid this place unless you are fine to be ripped off .. used to love coming here but never again… oh and the menu never changes .. if you go, avoid the warm dishes not worth it..

The food was delicious. Really tasty ceviche and fish. Atmosphere is fine. Make sure you reserve a table, because the places at the bar are less nice. We thought the prices were a bit on the high side.

It was beautiful and delicious, we had a classic dish and tuna dish (my top), and an octopus hot dog. Everything tastes great, but small portions. We also took cocktails, but I don't recommend them. They were nothing to me, and besides, one of them was brought dripping onto the table.

Wonderful discovery in Amsterdam! We had the ceviche with tuna, sea bass and sardines. All to die for. Also a special mention for the exceptionally delicious chocolate cake and the very friendly service! Definitely recommended!

The ceviche was acceptable - I'm peruvian. The atmosphere was great. The service was terrible and sprinkled with absolute indifference. I will not be going back.

A gem in itself in terms of location, design and food. What was less: the absurd prices for what you get: the rose was poured very sparingly (accidentally) into port glasses. After our comment, this was generously corrected. So our compliments for that. Still, it was a bit of a shock to pay 156 euros for 4 starters with 2 portions of bread, 1 cake, 2 glasses of rose, 2 coffee and 2 delicious cocktails (14 euros each and served in very mini pinie liquor glasses!). Then, despite the nice surroundings and delicious food, we would prefer to go to one of the other super restaurants in the city next time.

Get the ceviche and pair with a cocktail. The halibut was nicely done and had a lot of flavor.

The service was exceptional—definitely not your typical Dutch service, but something more intuitive, warm, and genuinely welcoming. Our waiter, Vad, a tall, blond gentleman, was beyond pleasant. He helped us choose our dishes and drinks, suggested enjoying the terrace while the sun was out, and then, when it got cooler, he seamlessly moved everything inside for us. Such an unexpected and thoughtful touch! And let’s talk about the oysters—so fresh, so delicate, and paired with an absolutely divine sauce. The atmosphere and decor are just as impressive—stylish, cozy, and with an energy that makes you want to stay all night. We’re already planning our next visit!

If you’d like to pay 17,50 eur for one portion marinated aubergine you can go this place..we ordered aubergine ceviche here but got only aubergine which is not specified as vegetarian in the menu! As for the hotdoctopus, we thought it would be a unique experience but the bread was too small and stale; the octopus wasnt cooked well and was difficult to chew off. We had really hard times to swallow it.. definitely not worth to pay 23 eur for it.

Everything we ordered was amazing. Couldn’t get enough of the ceviche. We were also surprised by how delicious the desserts were. Couldn’t photograph because we inhaled it in a second.

Ceviche clásico was excellent and the octopus sandwich was delicious too. However, the prices were on the high side. The cook was a friendly man, but the service left much to be desired. Because of this experience we will not be back.

why list the restaurant as open until 16:30 if the kitchen closes at 16:00? Feels misleading 😢

Found out about this place through an Amsterdam food vlog. I was too curious not to try their famous Hotdoctopus. Totally worth the time and money. The octopus is tender and juicy, and the sauces are savoury, making it a meal that simply melts in your mouth. We also got Tonijn Tiradito and Zeebars Tiradito. I don’t know what to recommend more. Just go there and try everything! We didn’t have a reservation, but we also didn’t visit during busy hours. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is great 👍

Very nice restaurant with a special menu. Very tasty ceviches and a number of other dishes, of which the Hotdoctopus in particular is very tasty and fun. To top it all off, they also serve delicious cocktails.

Tried this restaurant out because I really like ceviche. I tasted the 'classic ceviche' and the 'hotdoctopus'. The ceviche was good, quite acidic, 4/5⭐️. The hotdoctopus was really good! I have never tasted octopus like this before. It looks good, taste good, the bun is perfect too! I will give that one 5/5⭐️. It is a must try✌️ Recommendation: - 'Hotdoctopus'

Hidden gem in a quiet neighbourhood with small plates and fresh seafood. Service and ambience were great. Enjoyed the passionfruit cocktail and classic margarita. The classic ceviche was light and citrusy. The tuna ceviche was unique with shiso leaves and jalapeños on top for a kick. Anchovy and sardines paired well with the warm toast and tomato sauce. A second piece of toast would have been even better for the amount of fish given. Fish of the day was fresh, soft and flakey. The squeeze of fresh lemon juice perfectly contrasted the butter sauce. Highly recommend this restaurant!

We had again a great evening. Two couples. Food was great, service was perfect We had another fantastic evening at Sjefietshé in Amsterdam. The food was fresh, creative and delicious, and the service was perfect. A great spot for a night out with friends, but also for couples —highly recommended!

Dishes were a little too over seasoned. The fish cakes were interesting. Wish they warned us that bones still exist in the butterfly mackerel.

The Ceviches here are great, warm dishes are okay not too special in taste. Overall serving size too small given its price tag. The fries were really bad, whereas the bread was amazing. 3/5 Atmosphere gives bar vibes, less of a nice restaurant. Terrace for good weather outside is nice. 2/5 There are a lot of better restaurants, but to grab a ceviche and a drink - it’s nice

Everyone recommends the octopus hot dog and yes, they’re right, it’s delicious - but the ceviche??? That is next level of taste and texture. Great place!

As a local resident, this is one of the best corners of De Pijp. Great combination of tastes. We had a great dish recommendation from the staff and we also likes the drinks. We will probably be back soon to try more options. Come knowing that its normally packed.

We just had a wonderful dinner at the “ceviche” sjefietshé restaurant. Quick service by a lovely young friendly team, peaceful homie atmosphere, and definitely great and special dishes. We had 3 cold starters from the ceviche menu and the vis special of the day which was a salmon dish. All of them were really particular in their flavours combinations and for us it worth the price just to design them. But overall we must choose as a favourite the aubergine (i know, it is the only non-fish meal… but it was just too good)! So in general all good, the eggplant super good, and yes maybe the invoice is a bit high but it worth it; not everywhere you can find peace, flavour and caring

Innovative flavours but sometimes a tad salty (radishes and sardines)

We had been looking forward to eating at Sjefietshé for a long time, I have the cookbook but what a disappointment this was. The food was basically delicious, but expensive for the portions. More onion than fish in the Ceviche. Service absolutely nothing to speak of, after trying for a long time to get in touch, I walked in to order something. This while we were only one of three tables. To top off that experience, the bill included €2 extra for half a slice of bread that we had asked for with a dish. I'll stick to the cookbook.

Wonderful food. The ceviche are a must try. Order more and share if possible. Any main dishes there are great too. Not too complicated, but in its easy ways executed to perfection. I loved anything about this delicious fish restaurant.

Fantastic meal with super nice service. We also spoke to the friendly chef because our table was in front of the open kitchen. The white house wine was reasonable. It was quite dark, menu and food difficult to see, but good atmosphere. We used the phone's light to read the menu properly. When paying by card, you have to take into account a tip screen, which puts pressure on you to give a big tip!

This is a cute little restaurant next to a canal in a beautiful residential area! We didn’t reserve beforehand but there were a few tables left for party’s of two. The card is short with all dishes to share. We ordered the fries (which were lovely) and the ceviche. The ceviche was average, we had better and cheaper ceviche before. Next were the gambas, which tasted very fresh and juicy. The sauce was delicious. And finally we had the sardines (average) and some sourdough bread (lovely). So overall it was a bit of a mixed bag with prices being quite high. Still the service was lovely when she reached us (it was quite busy).

The food was delicious! I am pleasantly surprised. Very fresh and exciting dishes. The classic ceviche and hot dog octopus with brioche bread and tuna tostada were favorites. I don't recommend the fish cakes; heavy and not much flavor. All in all we had a wonderful evening!

Stepped in by chance, having no internet to check the menu and the reviews, just liked the atmosphere. It appeared that the place is fully booked and I was lucky to come early. I enjoyed the food,basically fresh seafood with some interesting sauces, and service. Came back the other night, and it was as good.

I was really impressed by this restaurant that has a very nice location between De Pijp area and the museum area. Their menu has a wide variety of options. All options came super well presented with a new twist in the taste that uplifts the overall experience. Their staff are super friendly and helpful.

We used to go quite often and liked it, but they have changed the chef recently and it’s not the same. The quality of the products is worse, they use a very strong sauce made of celery everywhere that jeopardizes the whole dish, the tomatoes have no flavour and the kroquettes seem to be from the supermarket, frozen. It is a shame but the price is high and the quality is not what it used to be.

Booked here for dinner - great meal and lovely service. Excellent ceviche but the Hotdoctopus was surely the highlight - unexpected and very lovely. Beautifully cooked octopus and an explosion of flavour with each bite. Recommended for sure.

We reserved this place for lunch to try their ceviche. The restaurant is pretty, but the food was a bit overpriced with very small portions. The service was overall good. I have a small note: While I understand the waiters can wear their own clothes, I feel a crop top with the belly out is not appropriate for restaurant work.
