Now for the third time we have eaten at Sjmaak, we are full of praise for this restaurant, so tasty and friendly staff, definitely recommended 😋

Great food, top service, delicious dishes and accompanying wines

Yesterday we had another fantastic evening at Sjmaak. Delicious dishes and great service. We were already enthusiastic, our guests (6) were there for the first time and were just as enthusiastic. They will be back too! Everyone had 3 courses and a few had an extra course.

A dinner at Sjmaak had been on our short list for a long time. Mother's Day was the right opportunity to put our money where our mouth is. Thanks to the nice weather, we were fortunately able to enjoy all the goodies outside. And we really enjoyed it; they have their affairs in order here. In addition to delicious food, they also provided top wine advice from the very friendly and attentive staff. All courses tasted more than good, you can taste that they cook with love. We will definitely come back someday!

Simply delicious local enjoyment! Limburgish, refined, passionate, hospitable! A gem in the heart of Geleen. Completely blank, we went out for dinner for the first time in the “World City”. And what a lucky break we had… From the first step over the threshold to leaving with a completely satisfied feeling: nothing but hospitality, friendliness and enjoyment. Local was key! Super fun and also with a perfect balance: refined, tasteful, abundant and served with passion! This is one for the pin board, until next time!

Surprisingly delicious food! Super well cooked steak! Delicious cheeses and a good espresso. Worth it. Very nice that all the ingredients come from Limburg.

Had lunch on Saturday, everything is local, great idea and especially tasty. We had a tasting for two. In the meantime, look at the people in the market. We will be back, definitely recommended.

Last night (08/02/25) we had a fantastic meal at the super cozy restaurant “Sjmaak”! You will receive a very friendly welcome and service from the super sweet hostess. The largest selection of drinks/wines all comes from here in the region and they know a lot about it, the chef talks passionately about his dishes and cheeses, for example. The atmosphere here is as if you are eating in a very cozy living room, great! We will be back!!

Had a wonderful evening with all the attention and explanations from the owner. Nice to hear where all the products and wine come from. He radiates so much passion for the profession. Limburg at its best!

We have ticked another wish off the wish list at Sjmaak Geleen. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess and the chef himself, after which we enjoyed a 4-course dinner. The veal with the starter was soft and tender, the red gurnard with pearl barley with the starter and the pike-perch with butter sauce with the main course melted on the tongue. With coffee I got a liqueur from Tante Wies and a homemade crème brulée, along with sweet treats. My table companions had a homemade crumble for dessert. Completely finished from A to Z! The hostess also expertly explained all the local wines and the sustainable product choices that are leading at Sjmaak. For a total price of approximately 60 euros per person, the price-quality ratio is completely fine at Sjmaak.

Exceptionally good! Upon entering, you are immediately warmly and radiantly welcomed. The ambiance and the staff radiate warmth and professionalism. The food is absolutely top class and you can't get more authentic than that. This restaurant breathes regionality, with the beautiful Limburg wines as the icing on the cake. A real experience in itself!

Here you will taste pure passion and be spoiled with authentic regional dishes and great wines in a hospitable atmosphere, provided by a relaxed yet professional team led by Gonnie and Peter. This group of relaxed padellers from Limbricht will definitely come back here (regularly)!

We have been to Sjmaak with friends who visited us for the weekend. Everyone loved the food, the high quality ingredients seasonal and regional. Good regional wines and beers. Great Service. When reservating Peter made sure he be able to offer something for the kids outside the menu.kids loved it! We were given a table that was perfect with kids. The atmosphere is great. We skipped going to another bar after dinner and stayed quite long. Prices are very reasonable for the quality we received. Recommended We sure be back.

Small is beautiful. Took a little longer to place the order, but it was also King's Day on Saturday. We received a very tasty piece of apricot cake and the lunch was well taken care of. Not even €20 per person. An excellent beer & wine range

Something we rarely do, but we have already eaten here twice and will certainly do it again! What an experience. This is cooking at a high level. Real fresh dishes, original, very tasty combinations and what I like most... local ingredients/products... also wine and beer! Lots of quality for a great price. They are happy to provide explanations and advice. You don't feel like a customer but like a king

Had dinner at Sjmaak for the 2nd time, and was surprised again, what a surprise, the Mechelen cuckoo was delicious, and the Dragon sauce topped it all off, really an evening out, you are really pampered here as a guest! Great, we will definitely come back!

Years ago, a slogan was launched in Geleen: Geleen Has it! After V&D and surrounding businesses disappeared, Geleen unfortunately no longer had it. Geleen no longer has anything that attracts us. We haven't been there for many years. Benefit of the doubt applied. We're going to try Sjmaak. Wow, Geleen has it again! A restaurant we will visit more often. Price quality is top, wines are top. Peter is a great host/cook. He can cook really well and is a good storyteller 👍 Peter, keep it up👌 See you soon!

Until November 19, the art on your plate will be combined here with beautiful art on the wall. Hanne van Alphen exhibits a selection of her works in this restaurant. Only regional products are used in the preparation of the dishes. That alone is an art and you can taste it. There is a special art menu which makes it extra attractive. We enjoyed the hospitality, the delicious dishes and the art on the wall. Highly recommended to visit before November 19th!

Upon arrival we received, without asking, a free carafe of water. You don't see that much in the Netherlands. A small gesture ... but a very good "entry". Now I always drink plain water with my meal.....I didn't order any other drinks...that was absolutely no problem! We even got a second carafe! Sublime! Customer friendliness with a capital letter. Everyone in this restaurant is very friendly. Couldn't be better. The menu is something different: tasty regional dishes and many wines from the region (by the glass). The wines, which are also very nice, were not sparingly served. All dishes were very tasty ...as well as the wines. Don't expect haute cuisine with complicated preparations. We recommend Sjmaak for an honest, very tasty, uncomplicated meal. Simply DELICIOUS and COZY!

We had a delicious meal last Friday! Limburg platter as a starter with a nice bottle of wine and everyone chose a main course à la carte. Very nice atmosphere, great service and delicious products. Highly recommended!

Sjmaak uses local products as much as possible. All the delicious things that come from the region (and that's more than you think) are expertly prepared into fantastic dishes that would undoubtedly not be out of place on the menu of many highly regarded restaurants. The often surprising drinks from the neighborhood complete the picture for a delicious dinner for a reasonable price. Highly recommended and right in the heart of Geleen! We will come back here again with great pleasure.

We accidentally walked into this restaurant while visiting friends in Geleen. It was a hit! Very well and kindly received by the hostess and other staff. Delicious regional dishes and wines. The platter with cold cuts and cheeses is highly recommended. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely come back!

For real and tasty food, go to Sjmaak! Peter understands the art of classic cooking with seasonal products from the Euregio Meuse/Rhine. Together with Gonny he provides a hospitable welcome. Nice selection of wines, beers, juices, charcuterie and cheese, also from the region! Well worth a detour.

What a pearl this is! High-quality catering in Geleen where you can really taste the love for the profession and the Limburg region. Something I have always missed in the area, even though it has so much to offer. The charcuterie, beers, wines and even soft drinks, all from the area. Here people understand that real quality is the tastiest. And that for a fair price. Very Slow Food worthy. Recommended!
