Small Asia in Rotterdam Centrum

Surprisingly good reviews. I had a satay, not roasted, but warmed up which had little taste. The sauce was thin and very little. An extra bowl of sauce cost €2.00. Not to be repeated.

At Small Asia they have a wide choice of dishes, but I chose the satay ayam. You could choose from a menu with 3 pieces for €14.50 or 6 pieces for €17.75. I went for the 3 pieces, but the satay meat was quite small, so I ordered 3 more. The price for these extra 3 pieces was not mentioned on the menu, so I assumed that I would end up just paying the price of the 6-piece menu (€17.75). To my surprise, however, an extra €12.50 was charged. I thought that was a shame. The chicken satay and satay sauce themselves were tasty, but not enough in relation to the price.

Delicious food. I wasn't very hungry but there is a wide choice of small dishes. All very tasty. And the service is really great. What a friendly lady! I will definitely come back again.

Rendang so dang good it’s making me consider moving to Indonesia; wash it down with a delicious refreshing house made lychee drink. You won’t find friendlier service anywhere. If in Rotterdam do yourself a favour and pay this place a visit.

I really like coming here. Nice family business. The fried rice is astonishingly good, the boapao is finger licking good. Also the satay skewers and the homemade peanut sauce. I am a chef myself and extremely critical. Normally it was delivered, but that is no longer possible. Still, I'd happily drive around for this place. Enjoyed a delicious meal in this small but friendly restaurant. The hostess is very friendly and helpful. The choice is wide enough, and the portions are okay (but not excessive). Price-quality definitely recommended. The interior and atmosphere are questionable, but the oh-so-friendly service makes up for everything. Highly recommended.

there's a reason i've been going here for years, finding old polaroids of myself on the busy walls: top notch soul food. i've never had a bad meal here and the staff is just so friendly, kind and sweet! try the cendol and desserts too, they're as fresh as the food!

Echt lekker gegeten, maar €190,- voor 4 personen is het niet waard. Echt superlieve bediening, maar ja. Zoveel geld voor uiteindelijk niet zoveel bijzonders in een wel heel simpele omgeving...De prijzen zijn echt veel te hoog voor het gebodende.

Ate here spontaneously this week, how delicious it was!!! Really and truly; Haven't had such a good meal in a long time. I have a vegetarian menu with long beans, delicious potatoes and pancakes. We talked about how wonderful it was for days afterwards haha!

I can't get enough of the food here, everything is absolutely delicious! The place it's family owned, it's so cozy and unique with their wall of Polaroids. I live abroad and come to Rotterdam once a year, a stop at Small Asia for me is always a must.

Bruh we hadn't eaten all day and couldn't decide where to eat. Then we found this place. I felt my spirit renew tenfold. The sweet chilli tofu slaps.

I do not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances. For these reasons: Long waiting time (30 minutes), Dishes do not correspond to reality in the photos on the website and in life. Portions are smaller in size and not made carefully. The mochi that we waited for 10 minutes were brought like ice, and they said that we should wait 5 minutes for them to melt, but I repeat they were like stone. Sushi is small and also not neat, I do not recommend on all counts.

I got a satay udang here last week and a Japanese variant. I think the udang is really not much. 1 stick contains maybe 10 grams of chicken.. and those shrimps are terribly boring. If you go to Witte de Withstraat, you can still invite half your family. This was just enough for a sick chicken.. Unfortunately the first but also the last x

Average food for that price . But the outrageous thing was that we were charged for the tap water we ordered ( 1€ per glass) ! Not recommended

We zijn hier gaan eten voordat we naar Oude Luxor gingen. Heerlijke sushi! Betaalbaar en vriendelijke bediening. Oh ja, en als je wilt maken ze een Polaroid foto van je en kom je op de wand te hangen, echt leuk!

TORI KATSU - dry, thin, underseasoned meat and no added vegetables. The waitress didn't even apologize when we pointed out that the food was tasteless. My husband didn't even eat half of it :(

Gran variedad y los platos indonesios son sabrosos con el calor justo para no dominar. Las porciones son grandes y buena relación calidad-precio. ¡Es un lugar agradable y frío con comida deliciosa!

Restaurant stayed under my radar for a long time, luckily discovered by chance. They have many Indonesian dishes. We had had sushi, bapoa, soup, lemper, cendol and rice dish. All delicious!

Had a very sandwich and the service was excellent. I wish this restaurant The Best of luck. A great place to come. I’ll be coming back Here.

Small restaurant and take away with great choice of food.

Not bad but not overly impressive. Tried the ayam chicken dish which was pulled chicken, rice, veggies and an egg - overall good. The quality was decent and the food was fresh but the prices are far too high for the serving sizes/portions and the sauce and flavour was average.

Delicious food, very worthwhile during a visit to the pub on the Nieuwe Binnenweg.

I gave the food itself 4/5 stars because I felt my chicken was nice - but it was so thin. It was almost like I was eating mostly breading/panko crumbs and not much of the chicken itself. That would be my only point of improvement.

Unfortunately, the reviews do not correspond to reality. The dishes were not tasty and simply prepared. They were bland. I have eaten better Indonesian dishes. It seemed like some dishes like atjar came from a jar and the cucumber was just cut up and served without any seasoning. Then I don't think it's worth paying €25 for a plate.

Very cozy restaurant where they serve real Indonesian cuisine! 🇮🇩 Each dish has its own and nice presentation, and careful thought has been given to the combination of dishes and the presentation on the table. Sweet and caring staff, I come here often! Tip: if you are not yet familiar with Indonesian cuisine, I recommend the Small Asia Special. A combination of many dishes, perfect for tasting multiple dishes! (see picture)

This unassuming spot would be easy to pass by but that would be a mistake. Consistently good food, great "mini" appetizers, the bao buns are tasty, the sate is perfect and for main course I always get the chicken ayam trassi, I should try something else for a change but it's so good I have to get it! Good food and value pricing. Recommended

The ajam trassi sandwich is the tastiest sandwich in town. The rendang is very good. I'm going to try the satay soon. Service and atmosphere very pleasant. Little tip: - piece of bacon biscuit with coffee instead of a pre-packed biscuit - slightly warmer lighting See you soon 🤓

We got take-away from this place last weekend and even though it was done relatively fast and the staff is super kind, I gotta say that it was… quite disappointing. The food was tasty but especially value for money is wayyy off. Paying 7 euro’s for 2 tiny panko shrimps and 6 for a tub of seaweed salad that was actually 3/4 filled with coleslaw was not worth it at all. The sushi size was also tiny and the portion of fries way to small for 6 euro’s. Would not go here again :(

Echt leckeres asiatisches Essen. Ob chinesisch, indonesisch oder japanische.Hier findet man von allem etwas. Guter Service im netten Ambiente.

Most of the food was good but not the shrimp dim sum, the shrimp had a weird not fresh taste and we left all of them there even though we were still hungry! But the other dishes were really good! Especially the Asian soup was amazing!

I don't often leave reviews but had a very nice experience. The food was amazing, especially as my first experience of Indonesian food! I walked in with only 45 minutes left of them being open and they were happy to seat me. The host was very friendly and checked a couple of times if I was enjoying the food, which came quickly (within 15 mins of ordering) and was really tasty and didn't seem rushed, despite nearing close. It struck me as a family run restaurant, with what looked like mum and dad in the kitchen, which was nice. You can see from all the polaroids lining the walls that they seem to care about their customers too. I had: ebi maki roll and duck roll to start, with ayam trassi as a main and pandan cake for dessert - all recommended!

This place is an absolute gem! Incredibly good food, kind staff and a fun atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend!

Small Asia special was heerlijk. En super vriendelijke mensen.

Leuke plek, heel erg lekker eten en vriendelijk personeel. Zeker een must om een keer heen te gaan. Ze bezorgen ook aan huis en je kunt er ook afhalen. Wederom heerlijk gegeten en heel vriendelijk ontvangen en geholpen. Blijft een aanrader om heen te gaan.

Dit weekend zijn we hier gestopt voor de lunch. Onze verwachtingen, die op basis van de reviews hoog waren, werden overtroffen. We hebben met erg veel smaak gegeten. Een plek waar we meerdere keren terug zouden gaan indien we langer in Rotterdam zouden blijven. Erg vriendelijke bediening.

Klein lunchcafé. Vriendelijke serveerster, maar het eten viel me tegen. Voor de prijs van de thee had ik wel een potje verwacht. Ook de soep zat in een heel klein kommetje, bijna nog kleiner dat het kopje voor de thee. De wraps waren prima, evenals het voorgerecht de Small Asia mix met 4 verschillende gefrituurde hapjes. Kortom, de kwaliteit is voldoende, maar de kwantiteit kan beter.

I had very high expectations of the place but the food was not up to the expectations, given that I have lived in South East Asia for sometime! The portions were actually very small for the price they charge. PS: They also charge for tap water! With such prices and especially for customers of the restaurant, I didn’t really appreciate it!

Vorige week heb ik hier heerlijk gegeten. Ik heb samen met mijn man van een rijsttafel genoten. De eigenaar was zo vriendelijk en behulpzaam, dat zie je nog maar weinig tegenwoordig. Hij nam echt de tijd om alles uit te leggen. We namen ook een cocktail en als toetje mochi ijs. Alles smaakte geweldig en de rustige sfeer in het restaurant deed ons goed. We wonen niet direct in de buurt maar zijn zeker van plan nog eens terug te komen!

The food was really delicious. They have a lot of vegetarian options and some vegan ones too (ask the staff), everything was really good. Also, the staff was very friendly and competent and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Will definitely go again!

Kleine zaakje maar best wel duur, het eten valt mee niet om te zeggen heerlijk. Bij Waroeng Mini op de witte de Witstraat is het eten veel beter en belangrijker veel goedkoper dan Small Asia. Bij vele restaurants klagen ze dat de inkoop hoger is en ook de kosten gas en Electra hoger zijn zo doende wordt die kosten ook bij de klanten door berekend, maar vergeet niet dat de consumenten ook te maken hebben met hoge voorschotnota’s van gas en Electra en jaren geen salaris verhogingen, dus ook de consumenten hebben last van alle hoge kosten en niet alleen de horeca’s. Maar de horeca’s misbruiken om de kosten door te berekenen bij de klanten Met de prijzen verhogen, gooi je je eigen ruiten in want dan komt niemand meer eten omdat de prijzen te duur worden. Bij waroeng mini op de witte de withstraat is de tent iedere dag vol omdat de eigenaars hebben met de jaren geleerd beter een volle tent dan een lege tent door de prijzen niet te hoog berekenen dat is lange termijn denken en korte termijn denken is snel je kosten binnenhalen door hoge prijzen te hanteren met gevolg dat de tent leeg loopt

Telefonisch besteld en met een tikkie betaald. Snel en vriendelijk geholpen en de bezorging was vlot. Eten was met zorg en aandacht klaar gemaakt. Nasi was één van de beste die ik ooit op heb!
