Amazing restaurant if you want to enjoy craftsmanship in all areas. Not only is the food delicious, the service is really as it should be (but not everywhere), the atmosphere is nice and the wines are fantastic. Kudos!

An all-time favorite! Feels like a warm bath, like coming home, familiar. A relaxed atmosphere with an extra touch. We have been here countless times and are always very pleased with the menu and the wine. Multiple alcohol-free options and extensive choice for plant-based diet wishes. Must visit!

To my luck, last week I was able to reserve a table for 2 for yesterday (13 Nov.). As always, it was completely packed. I have been coming here for a long time, regularly and enjoy it (I live close by; that makes a difference). All aspects have been of consistently good quality from day 1 - for over 20 years: the service, the dishes, the timing, the atmosphere. Crystal clear cloth napkins, plenty of space between the tables and a jug of tap water and some ice cubes free of charge! Because my tablemate and I no longer drink alcohol and don't like soft drinks. GREAT that you are not charged or - even worse - that you are forced to order a bottle of water for an idiotic amount. Crispy buns and a dollop of butter as a warm-up. All dishes beautifully presented and delicious*. Stupidly I didn't take any photos. Timing between courses was also correct. Our table companion did not want dessert but did want coffee and was given a bowl with some tasty sweets. The owner and chef Peter came several times to check whether everyone was having a good time. I think that's also very good. He has a great team in the ministry, something he can be very happy with. Because well-groomed-looking staff, who keep a close eye on everything and do their work in a fun way at the table, is very difficult to find. Until departure, where you are neatly helped into your coat and cheerfully waved goodbye. A big ten for Peter, Natasja and their team. * I didn't like the puff pastry in my dessert. This was soft due to the moisture of the other ingredients and - judging by the taste - pre-fab. Furthermore, the flavors were well matched. It also looked beautiful with a topping of deliciously crispy mini maple leaf decoration!

Went to a wine tasting dinner. One word: Excellent! The food was very good, the wine pairings excellent. All round great evening!

Delicious meal with family. Lots of variety and special flavors and combinations. I also think it was a plus that there was good non-alcoholic wine! Don't see you often.

Excellent food, very nice atmosphere, knowledgeable staff who also think along with people. This is definitely recommended, don't forget to make a reservation because it is certainly busy update: 27/9/24 the wine list has become even better and the food is still excellent!

It was a great experience to have dinner at the Southern Cross. The ambience of the restaurant is very good, the service is excellent, professional, informative and friendly. And we all loved the food, which was beautifully presented. 3 of us had the 5 course meal and my husband and I had the steak with a side dish. Everything was delicious. And a great choice of wine!! Highly recommended.

Op vrijdag de 13e in dit restaurant gedineerd. De ontvangst is vriendelijk. Er is een keuze uit diverse bites gerechten, een 5 gangen menu, een 5 gangen vegetarisch menu of a la carte gerechten. Wij kozen voor het 5 gangen menu en wisselden het barramundi gerecht voor de lamszwezerik van de a la carte gerechten. Het wijnarrangement erbij genomen. De huisgerookte zalm, de barramundi, de lamszwezerik, Kangaroo pastrami, black angus steak en het zwarte bessen dessert, alle gerechten indrukwekkend en de en voor de ander smaakexplosies. Een fantastische avond afgesloten met een heerlijk dessertwijn. Voor ons voor dit restaurant een dikke, dikke tien!

It was a great evening. What care and love radiates from the food. We enjoyed the flavors, smells and textures. Star quality if you ask me. Nice variations with the non-alcoholic drinks. We certainly hope to be able to come back again.

On July 24th we celebrated our wedding at Southern Cross. We went through all the details a week in advance, which caused no problems. What a great evening we had. The food was a wonderful experience and the service was top notch despite the size of the group (16 people). Highly recommended to eat here! We will definitely come here more often. This restaurant has been around for 22 years. The hospitality is like on the first day. The food wonderful. Great recipes. Beautiful interior with large garden terrace. An experience!

We had the 5 course menu and were generally happy except for a couple of small things. The courses consisted of scallops, barramundi, kangaroo, duck, desert 1) It took too long, we were waiting mostly over 30 minutes between courses and in the end it took 3 hours to have dinner. 2) The menu was on the sweet side for me and there was a lack of relief (acidity) from that. It would have been great to have a pallet cleanser or refreshing dish in the lineup. Having said that, every course was tasty, the portion sizes were just right and you left satisfied without being overly full. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable and explained every course. We'll definitely be back

Enjoyed!!!!! On the advice of fellow foodie Ellen, we were introduced to the Australian Cuisine from Southern Cross in Heemstede. Delicious in the cozy courtyard, delicious fusion dishes passed by with flavors and structures that surprised our taste buds more than positively. After first being warmly welcomed by owner Natasja, we were offered an aperitif by Ellen from Brabant (how sweet is that) accompanied by a freshly baked sandwich with miso butter and Bitterballen. Bitterballen?? Yes bitterballen, made from Krokodil. Mmmmm... Magnificent! Then Chef Peter's Aussi Experience began in his Southern Cross Experience menu. Candied salmon trout with fresh Asian flavors of dashi and crispy seaweed Then...oh oh one of my favorites; Scallops🥰 with a sweet corn flan, crispy corn kernels, a vinegraitte made from an Australian wax plant (forgot the name) as a sour, nice combination with the sweet flan, the pan-fried scallops and yes, the spiciness of the green chilli mayo😚 When: Grilled quail breast fillet with a kind of soy sauce with chili pepper where it became clear that Australia has many Southeast Asian influences, a compressed Choy sam with a glaze of I think turnip that had that fresh anise-like spiciness, grilled sweet potato and also some sauce from that . I expected that dessert would now make its entrance.... BUT NO!!! The main course was served🥰 And now we got: On the kamado perfectly grilled kangaroo steak with Indian influences in the form of a lasooni dal curry, sweet carrot, a crispy lentil ball that had a surprising fresh mint flavor and a vindaloo sauce.... Aiaiai😍😍 The buukske was actually quite full, but I was still very curious about dessert. What surprise awaited us? It was a surprise! A summery raspberry pudding with peach sorbet and peach mousse, sponge cake and a crisp of puffed caramelized grains, I think barley. We were allowed to finish with friandes and tea, which would most likely be just as tasty, but we were already more than satisfied. Conclusion; A freakin awesome experience! And we're going to come back, we're willing to do that bit of driving😋

Nice Australian restaurant, you go for the quality not the quantity. Dishes that you won't find in other restaurants. The wine list is entirely Australian too!

Delicious food, 5 course experience menu. In a word, fantastic, both the food and the friendly staff are good instructed operation. What special flavors and a feast for the eyes. No fuss was made about an adjustment here and there. Partly because of this, everything is equally delicious for everyone. Being able to exchange the Iberico for Patagonian scallops, I'll come back for that alone :) Delicious drinks/wine, everything with a Australian twist. We will definitely come again!

I didn't expect a modern Australian kitchen here in Holland. I was told the restaurant has been here for over 20 years. The owner must travel back to Straya quite often as the food is right up to date. It could have been served in a Sydney restaurant yesterday, except for the barramundi being not quite as tender as down under. The mostly SA and Victoria wines were very well chosen with the tasting menu. Impressive and recommended!

Correct, fast but clinically assisted. Tightly organized. Food good and tasty. Barely tasted the fish in the Barramundi fish cakes. Definitely visit again.

Fantastische 5 gangen diner gegeten. De smaken waar zo fijn en toch krachtig. Je papillen ervaren zo veel binnen de 5 gerechten, elke smaak komt aan bod.

Meerdere keren hier gegeten en ze weten ons iedere keer weer te verrassen + vriendelijk personeel.

Mooi restaurant met prachtig menu en goede wijnen

Stuk voor stuk, kleine schilderijtjes op t bord. Een feestje voor de smaakpapillen en alles in combinatie met bijpassende wijnen. Wèl te zeggen dat een 'grote eter' nog wat extra vulling had kunnen gebruiken.

Fijne sfeer. Heerlijk eten. Leuk de extra kaart met al die kleine gerechtjes. Bediening alert, adequaat en vriendelijk.

Vandaag gegeten met een groep in een aparte ruimte. Dat was werkelijk heel erg goed. We kozen voor een driegangendiner. De blackangus-steak viel in de categorie, hoe vond u de steak? Achter de doperwt mevrouw. Dus, heerlijk gegeten. Mooi dessert, maar hoofd- en voorgerecht waren modieus klein. Bediening was goed en voorkomend. Wijn was prima. Maar 80 euro per persoon voor een te kleine maaltijd is niet oké

My colleague and I had a very pleasant dinner at this place. Beautiful atmosphere, highest of service quality you can imagine, nice food. While we went with their 5 course dinner option, we asked for quite a few adjustments to it, and they did it no questions asked. Wine pairing was also on the highest level. We ended up spending around 5 hours there and had very pleasant time. Just don't expect this to be fast - this is not fast food

We hebben hier met ons gezin van 6 gegeten en we hebben een heerlijke avond gehad. Het eten was van zulke goed kwaliteit. Heel bijzondere en heerlijke gerechten. De sfeer in het restaurant is heel goed. Het hele restaurant zat vol en toch heb je je eigen privacy en heerst er een goede ambiance. De bediening nam alle tijd voor ons en was heel betrokken. We voelden ons echt gezien. Echt een aanrader! Ook met kinderen in leeftijd van 9-11-13-15 😁 zij kregen alle aandacht en rust in uitleg van mogelijkheden eten.
