The food is very similar to Chilean cuisine, with an extra touch of creativity. The michelada had ice, but it still tasted good. The prices are a bit high, but it's worth it. 9/10 🇨🇱🇨🇱

On a cold day, a warm, cosy and welcoming atmosphere heightened by the vibrant, amusing reception by a young lady greeter; that followed by excellent service by the handsome and charming Colombian waiter. And the food? Also outstanding: a pastel de choclo; costillar - delectable barbecue pork ribs, Chilean style, and a scrumptious dessert. Oh, and all started with traditional pisco sours. Warm welcome! Typical cuisine with vegetarian options. The vegetarian Chilean dish is very good. Calm atmosphere, not touristy, a very good little restaurant!

This is a hidden gem in Amsterdam. The food and service are both excellent. We sat at a table upstairs right next to the open window with canal views. We made reservations, but there seemed to be tables if we had just walked in.

The beer is delicious. The food is okay, too. But the atmosphere is great. You can sit right by the canal.

We had a lovely meal here outside in the sunshine. The staff were very attentive and happy to chat. Lunch was excellent and very tasty! Everything was perfect here, highly recommended!

My husband and I have visited Spanjer en van Twist in the past. So we decided we'd like to go again. We made an online reservation from their website. We got an email saying they had received it and that we were would receive another email to confirmation the reservation. Which we never received. So we decided to show up a half hour ahead of our planned reservation time. We of course wanted to sit outside but we're placed inside. When we asked how long the wait was for outside we were told over an hour. But as we sat inside we watched people get seated outside. Rather frustrating. Service was slow. Servers were friendly. Food was fair. Probably won't be back again.

The empanada had no pine flavor. I don't recommend this place. I thought I could find something better in Chilean cuisine. 👎🏼 The price and quality are "Not worth it."

We were a group of 16 and had some local beers. It was super good, and we also found a fantastic waiter from Seville who gave us excellent service and recommended some top-notch places.

We had a fish dish and a beef dish, and both were delicious, as were the cocktails.

We went one day and returned the next to try more things. All the servers were lovely, but Álvaro was 100% recommended several dishes, such as ribs, empanada, and scrambled potatoes with egg and meat sauce, and they were all 10/10. We finished with 10/10 coffees and a delicious cheesecake. The michelada was amazing!

Worst and most expensive empanada I've eaten, not comparable to a chilean one. The pisco sour was welt done, but the pisco tasted like cheap pisco.

The atmosphere is incredibly great. Boats pass by every minute. There's plenty to watch. The service was okay. The drinks are good.

We wanted to have some drinks and snacks here. We sat at a table, I went to the rest room before ordering. It was so incredibly dirty I left the place immediately without ordering anything.

Terrible waitress attitude, I waited for few minutes to take my order, yet I just go to the counter and request to order the food straight away. Yet the waitress ask me to go back to my seat in a very rude attitude and let me to wait for another 5mins, she didn’t want to take my order first yet she taking her own time starting to clean another table….. she then look at me , rolled her eyes and say “coming!”…. That’s very very rude I can say

This is the worst experience that I had in Amsterdam. The waitress is slow and not polite, I had to ask for 6, but they give me the reason that they can't make it to the table for 6. It is okay, I sort it out myself to separate my family into 4 and 2; however, she still gives me an impolite eye glance at me. When we wanted to order our food, she just took her own sweet time to clean up the table, the most important thing is that no one is waiting for her to clean the table. It just takes like less than 2 minutes to take my order, but still lack prioritize common sense. I worked as a waitress before, I understand the uneasy of a waitress juggling all the work at the same time. But this is the worst experience that I had to split out to the public, to encourage people not to come to this restaurant.

A very nice place. We received fantastic service; the waiter spoke Spanish. The food was very tasty and well-prepared. Located on the banks of a canal with a great view. Highly recommended.

Danny / Dani was such a nice and welcoming server to us. We only have 2 nights in amsterdam and we decided to sit down by the canal and we are so happy we did here at Sanjer & van twist. He happily recommended me a beer i loved after only mentioning i liked pilsners and was looking for something around 5%. Such great friendliness and customer service. Thank you for a memorable time!

Stumbled across this place tonight when all other places were full and I'm so glad we did. The servers were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was incredible, big shout out to the empanadas! A really chilled vibe and honestly has been one of the highlights on my time in Amsterdam. Special shout out to our server Danny who made sure all the food I ordered was pregnancy safe ❤️

Almost like being in Chile. The empanada was a bit bland, but the corn pie was very good. The best thing on the menu was the wine.

We asked for a menu, and after 5 minutes an ealderly waiter came up to us, asking if we picked something. We said we didn't know yet and to give us 5 more minutes. He responded with :"We dont have 5 more minutes, you can leave." And we got kicked out. The food was too expensive and the outside area was dirty. But mainly the awful service/waiter interaction. Very disapointing

We had a WONDERFUL experience at Spanjer en van Twist during our brief time in Amsterdam! Highly recommend getting a table right along the canal for a 1st row seat to watch boats cruise by! We thoroughly enjoyed the beetroot tartare & the seafood risotto (would only suggest making the portion slightly bigger as a main entrée for the price). Service was superb - we even witnessed some unhappy patrons & the manager handled the situation with grace, kindness, & generosity. We would certainly return when back in Holland! Cheers!

Friendly staff, but the service was a bit slow. The food was good, but unfortunately not plentiful. Ideal on the outside, but the decor inside wasn't great.

Nice brunch after the Anne Frank museum visit. Lamb shank was pretty good as was Angus burger. Fish soups good. Service was good. Prices probably typical of Amsterdam near the tourist belt. Appreciated having had a family meal here

Favourite spot in Amsterdam for food and drinks!! You can sit right on the canal and enjoy amazing chilean food and reasonably priced drinks. The ambiance and views are unbeatable, the location is very good and the service was great. We came back multiple times on our trip.

We sat outside along the canal and enjoyed the atmosphere and food! We tried the chicken wrap, churrasco (10/10), costillar, and the pastel de choclo. Every dish was delicious and memorable.

Excellent place, the perfect spot to reminisce about Chilean food. The chorrillana was excellent, just the right size for two people, although a bit pricey. The service was very good; we waited five minutes for our food and drinks. Highly recommended.

After mistaking the flag out front for a Texas flag, we were visiting from Texas, the staff could not have been friendlier. Food and drinks were delicious and service was fantastic. We will definitely return when we are back in Amsterdam.

Excellent location at waters edge. Chose this place because we had such a great time in Chile and wanted to reminisce. Unfortunately, lunch staff leaves lots to be desired. Not very friendly and the glasses provided for the drinks we ordered were wet and even had a bit of water in them. No service outside. Overall disappointing.

We had to ask the waiter for water glasses after a long wait. My glass was dirty and still wet. The waiter did not bring us one of the dishes we ordered. The fries that came with almost every meat dish were pre-made, which didn't please me at all. For 24/25 euros, I would have expected something better.

I had an amazing experience eating here. The service was great and really friendly. Sitting outside near the "Gracht" gives the prefect ambiente, and the food tasted really good as well. I can definitely recommend this restaurant it is worth a visit when you are in Amsterdam.

A tasteful experience at Spanjer and Van Twist Last visit to Spanjer and Van Twist was a party! I chose the tuna melt with fries, and honestly: what a taste sensation! My mouth was watering as soon as I served it, and every bite did not disappoint – delicious, perfectly prepared and served with love. The service was at least as good as the food. From the moment you enter, it feels like a warm bath. The service is friendly, hospitable and makes you feel immediately at ease. Nos encontramos con amigos aquí para tomar unas copas en un fin de semana largo en Amsterdam. El lugar está situado justo al lado del canal y hay asientos al aire libre que hace que sea una experiencia muy agradable ver pasar los barcos. Hay una buena selección de bebidas que no son demasiado caras. El personal era amable y servicial durante toda nuestra visita.

Very tasty Chilean restaurant. Super service and very tasty dinner. Original Chilean appealing dishes that tasted delicious, but also a 'black Angus burger'. Good wine. We could even park on the canal in front of the door. Something for everyone on the menu. The atmosphere in the restaurant is a bit 'dry', but that may be due to the design. We were a mixed group, including small children, and in any case we really enjoyed it.

Have a drink while watching the boats on the canal. Relaxing!

Excellent Chilean restaurant! I was looking for something from my country, and I found this gem! The typical flavor of corn cake is incomparable, remembering flavors and essences of the preparation! The atmosphere is really cozy and the staff make you feel at home! This is definitely a mandatory stop in Amsterdam for Chileans!
