Nice spot for a drink! Especially if you get a seat by the canal!

We were immediately welcomed even though it was 9pm. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was amazing!

We were there for lunch. The sandwiches were a bit mediocre. Not well-seasoned. A missed opportunity.

The drinks were wonderful! I loved the empanada.

We stumbled upon it completely by chance, seeing the Chilean flag outside. My friend ordered a completo because he was missing home, and while he said it tasted more like chorizo, it was incredibly well done. Everyone who served us was Latino, they all spoke Spanish, they treated us wonderfully, and there was a line to get a table outside—it was that popular. We'll have to go back 🙂‍↔️

Chilean food and chilean vibes! Amazing pastel de Choclo served with a Chilean salad that taste like home. The staff was super friendly, most of them chilean and/or Spanish speakers to make you feel like in Chile. Had the opportunity to meet the owner that was enjoying at one of the tables. Wouod definitely recommend to try the other chilean dishes that are unique and tasty.

The staff were very welcoming, and the food was delicious, with homemade products. It was a real treat, especially with the view of the canal. I highly recommend this little restaurant.

Food was great but the waiter a young man was extremely arrogant. I was being nice and friendly and I am not a tourist just a local. Apparently he had seen too many tourists or whatever. I won’t go here again. A shame because as I said the food was pretty ok.

Good location with good venue and ambiance but disappointing experience. Service was bad in general, we were the only table ordering food and it took them +30’ to serve. The burger wasn’t that good, the Angus meat didn’t taste like the ones I had before. + 10€ each bottle of water but dirty bathrooms, feels a bit off.

The staff are of no help at all and shirk their responsibilities. They don’t apply the saying ‘the customer is always right’, even if it is true

I have not seen the inside of the restaurant. Me and my wife were seated outside very close to the canal. While this table for two was small and the seating area very small, the location is a bit to the side and therefore calmer and more private. It was nice to see many boats pass by on the canal while we were eating. The food was ok and the pricing in line with the expected.

The corn cake was delicious. The Pisco Sour was a must-try! Excellent service. I'll definitely be back!

There was a gum in the aperol spritz I ordered, glued on the straw. When I noticed and alerted the staff, they were indifferent to the situation and didn't show any reaction and solution to the problem. Unprofessional staff that reuses plastic straws, highly unhygenic.

Avoid … although the apple pie was warm .. it came 30mins before the coffee .. which although we ordered 2 .. we only got one and the other after asking three times never arrived .. but yeah was still on the bill. Hopeless ..

Comfortable chairs, beautiful on the water, atmospheric

Last Sunday we tried the pastel de choclo and it was very good—we really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the pisco sour was the worst I’ve had in my life. It tasted like pisco mixed with water and was basically undrinkable. When I asked for more lemon, the waitress said they didn’t have any, so I ended up ordering a Sprite just to fix it and make it a piscola blanca. As a Chilean living here for a decade and decided to try this place for the first time, this was very disappointing.

Just like at home c: We ate: Casserole, Italian-style grilled meat, and a full meal. For dessert, we had "Calzones Rotos" (a type of fried pastry). Well, what can I say? The casserole and the grilled meat were excellent, and the full meal was very similar to what you'd find in Europe—delicious! 😛

On a cold day, a warm, cosy and welcoming atmosphere heightened by the vibrant, amusing reception by a young lady greeter; that followed by excellent service by the handsome and charming Colombian waiter. And the food? Also outstanding: a pastel de choclo; costillar - delectable barbecue pork ribs, Chilean style, and a scrumptious dessert. Oh, and all started with traditional pisco sours. Warm welcome! Typical cuisine with vegetarian options. The vegetarian Chilean dish is very good. Calm atmosphere, not touristy, a very good little restaurant!

This is a hidden gem in Amsterdam. The food and service are both excellent. We sat at a table upstairs right next to the open window with canal views. We made reservations, but there seemed to be tables if we had just walked in.

The beer is delicious. The food is okay, too. But the atmosphere is great. You can sit right by the canal.

We had a lovely meal here outside in the sunshine. The staff were very attentive and happy to chat. Lunch was excellent and very tasty! Everything was perfect here, highly recommended!

My husband and I have visited Spanjer en van Twist in the past. So we decided we'd like to go again. We made an online reservation from their website. We got an email saying they had received it and that we were would receive another email to confirmation the reservation. Which we never received. So we decided to show up a half hour ahead of our planned reservation time. We of course wanted to sit outside but we're placed inside. When we asked how long the wait was for outside we were told over an hour. But as we sat inside we watched people get seated outside. Rather frustrating. Service was slow. Servers were friendly. Food was fair. Probably won't be back again.

Menu looked great and terrace very pleasant but we ended up leaving after 20 mins of being completely ignored by the staff - and we weren’t the only ones

We were a group of 16 and had some local beers. It was super good, and we also found a fantastic waiter from Seville who gave us excellent service and recommended some top-notch places.

If you want to try authentic Chilean Empanadas this is the place to come in Amsterdam, great coffee as well

We had a fish dish and a beef dish, and both were delicious, as were the cocktails.

We went one day and returned the next to try more things. All the servers were lovely, but Álvaro was 100% recommended several dishes, such as ribs, empanada, and scrambled potatoes with egg and meat sauce, and they were all 10/10. We finished with 10/10 coffees and a delicious cheesecake. The michelada was amazing!

Worst and most expensive empanada I've eaten, not comparable to a chilean one. The pisco sour was welt done, but the pisco tasted like cheap pisco.

We wanted to have some drinks and snacks here. We sat at a table, I went to the rest room before ordering. It was so incredibly dirty I left the place immediately without ordering anything.

The atmosphere is incredibly great. Boats pass by every minute. There's plenty to watch. The service was okay. The drinks are good.

Terrible waitress attitude, I waited for few minutes to take my order, yet I just go to the counter and request to order the food straight away. Yet the waitress ask me to go back to my seat in a very rude attitude and let me to wait for another 5mins, she didn’t want to take my order first yet she taking her own time starting to clean another table….. she then look at me , rolled her eyes and say “coming!”…. That’s very very rude I can say

This is the worst experience that I had in Amsterdam. The waitress is slow and not polite, I had to ask for 6, but they give me the reason that they can't make it to the table for 6. It is okay, I sort it out myself to separate my family into 4 and 2; however, she still gives me an impolite eye glance at me. When we wanted to order our food, she just took her own sweet time to clean up the table, the most important thing is that no one is waiting for her to clean the table. It just takes like less than 2 minutes to take my order, but still lack prioritize common sense. I worked as a waitress before, I understand the uneasy of a waitress juggling all the work at the same time. But this is the worst experience that I had to split out to the public, to encourage people not to come to this restaurant.

Stumbled across this place tonight when all other places were full and I'm so glad we did. The servers were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was incredible, big shout out to the empanadas! A really chilled vibe and honestly has been one of the highlights on my time in Amsterdam. Special shout out to our server Danny who made sure all the food I ordered was pregnancy safe ❤️

We asked for a menu, and after 5 minutes an ealderly waiter came up to us, asking if we picked something. We said we didn't know yet and to give us 5 more minutes. He responded with :"We dont have 5 more minutes, you can leave." And we got kicked out. The food was too expensive and the outside area was dirty. But mainly the awful service/waiter interaction. Very disapointing

We had a WONDERFUL experience at Spanjer en van Twist during our brief time in Amsterdam! Highly recommend getting a table right along the canal for a 1st row seat to watch boats cruise by! We thoroughly enjoyed the beetroot tartare & the seafood risotto (would only suggest making the portion slightly bigger as a main entrée for the price). Service was superb - we even witnessed some unhappy patrons & the manager handled the situation with grace, kindness, & generosity. We would certainly return when back in Holland! Cheers!

Friendly staff, but the service was a bit slow. The food was good, but unfortunately not plentiful. Ideal on the outside, but the decor inside wasn't great.

Favourite spot in Amsterdam for food and drinks!! You can sit right on the canal and enjoy amazing chilean food and reasonably priced drinks. The ambiance and views are unbeatable, the location is very good and the service was great. We came back multiple times on our trip.
