Magnificent beach restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of seating with incomparable views and great cuisine - a real oasis

Super friendly staff, even for the loyal four-legged friend who comes along. The best mackerel sandwich I've ever had. The shrimp burger was also delicious. Fast service, good food, and lovely sunshine. What more could you ask for? If the terrace is full, walk to the back because there's a sort of grandstand terrace where you can relax on the cushions.

Beautiful location. Everything looks great. Unfortunately, the staff is too busy with each other. And a beach pavilion that doesn't serve sparkling iced tea, which is a bit of a shame.

Delicious food! Whatever the kitchen serves... I'm always pleasantly surprised ♥️ One star off because we were sitting in a draft inside... I only realized that after half an hour. I'm sure there are plenty of places to sit out of the wind, but I just didn't expect it.

A really nice, relaxed beach bar. That speaks volumes, as we were there three days in a row. :-) Friendly staff and a good menu. The bread with aioli (homemade dip) and the mackerel salad sandwiches were delicious! Drinks: Soof, fresh orange tea with cinnamon, and the sangria too. Comfortable chairs and benches to sit on. Our favorite beach bar on Terschelling!

The conservatory offers a beautiful view over the mudflats towards Harlingen. Good food, but it's best to make a reservation just to be safe.

We had delicious apple pie and cheeseburger cake. Unfortunately, the male server was incredibly grumpy. He didn't see us, and when we asked if we could take the throw blanket off the sofa, the answer was "NO!" The young woman was very friendly, and the atmosphere was otherwise wonderful.

Delicious food. Very friendly staff and a beautiful location. We had a friend with us who has difficulty walking, and the staff helped us right away. Much appreciated. The atmosphere is also lovely.

A truly excellent combination of beautiful decor, good food, and excellent service. The service is well-placed in the various areas. The staff around them are well-aware of their duties. And the kitchen needs to be able to persevere and not slack off. Fast-paced. The dishes are delicious and beautifully simple. The olive/Parmazzan bread is absolutely fantastic. It comes with a nice butter. Burrata, steak tataki, beefsteak, kids burger, pizza, and fries. Everything was delicious. Desserts were to die for: tiramisu, cannoli, and Kinder Bueno brownie (pronounce it quickly, haha). Thank you so much!

It was pleasantly full, a nice spot. The food was a bit disappointing, especially the squid rings. They seemed like they were double-fried. There was very little squid left, and the coating was very hard.

Good burgers and right on the beach

After half an hour, we left because no one came to take our order. The place wasn't even half full. From the looks of it, we weren't the only ones. We won't be coming back. It doesn't have the relaxed atmosphere like the rest of the island and the other restaurants and cafes, which are perfectly fine.

We had a wonderful lunch with a lovely view. The staff isn't always very attentive (probably temporary or new hires) and it's not always clear who you can and can't order from.

Super relaxed atmosphere. Good, friendly service. Suitable for all ages. Easily accessible via a paved road. Delicious food. Freshly baked cake! The hamburger is especially recommended. The coffee is delicious. In short, a place I frequent. And if you're completely in love with the beach bar, they also sell t-shirts... We ate there tonight, August 5, 2025. Very good food. The cod was perfectly cooked, and the sirloin steak was flavorful. Orange panna cotta for dessert. (Recommended) A steep price of 10.50, but delicious. The service was a bit chaotic this evening, probably due to the long hours.

Fantastic spot on the beach! Delicious food, or just enjoy a drink or beer in the lovely lounge. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and a stunning sea view. Simply fantastic – you can completely unwind here!

Great beach bar! Of course, it's expensive, but that's the case everywhere. Beautiful on the beach. The perfect place to watch the sun set over the sea with a cocktail in hand. Nicely sheltered from the wind thanks to the glass walls.

The apple pie was truly the most delicious we've had in a long time. And then it turned out the special fries were just as delicious. Both received a 10, which is pretty special for a beach bar!

I wanted to order something due to being stuck there because of some horrible weather but the whole process was so misleading and confusing so i just wasnt able to order at all. please manage your orders better when it‘s obvious there‘s gonna be more.

The staff‘s unfriendly behaviour appalled me. Even though the drinks are good, as a foreign person they will treat you like a dog.

Waited more than 30 minutes for a few drinks and then called it quits.

After half an hour, we finally asked for the waiters to come. We immediately ordered drinks and food at once due to the wait. This dampened the atmosphere, even though everyone was trying their best to make the most of it. If the service had been faster, we would have ordered more, but now we left without dessert. We didn't feel like it that way anymore.

The kitchen closes at 7:30 PM. It's rude that they keep the kitchen opening hours off the website and pretend they're open later than competing beach bars.

Vurrukkuluk! The combination of sea, beach, clouds, space with this location is a top experience every time. Atmosphere: completely relaxed, very attentive. With a bisque that would not be out of place at a state dinner. (The goat cheese sandwich gains in quality, by the way, when the cheese is briefly seared on the baking sheet)

We spent a lot of time here again during our holiday on Terschelling and what I really liked was that my water bottle that I had forgotten was neatly put aside by the staff. Thanks for this good service

Not all the staff was friendly. The food was very tasty.

It was fantastic! A wonderful atmosphere right on the beach, excellent food, a great Sauvignon Blanc, and above all: very friendly and attentive service. Thank you so much!

Slow staff. It took half an hour before someone came to us because we asked for it ourselves. Already 2 x another waitress had brought the order of another table to us. Despite the fact that we told her that we wanted to order, no one came to take our order. No menu on the table. Also asked for that but it was not brought. In short, this place is not worth repeating. You can better go to De Rustende Jager or to De Millem.

Food was expensive. But good quality. Service on the other hand was very variable. Young girls were friendly, but didn't seem to be very interested. But one somewhat older lady was really grumpy. Was not a calling card for this business.

Even had a nice drink. We sat on the dirty, stained cushions, admittedly on my coat. My dog, also on my coat! But that was not allowed. Not even when I took her on my lap..........even with shorts you were not allowed to sit on the downright dirty cushions! Was told very nasty and unfriendly!. Not recommended!!

Cozy pavilion with comfortable lounge sofas.

A cup of hot chocolate and an apple pie nicely behind a glass screen out of the wind and in the sun. What more could you want.

Order drinks with patience. The first order went smoothly. The second order I think had sea sand in the wheels, which made it take 15 minutes.

We stayed at hotel Paal 8. Walking from the hotel to the beach bar was a piece of cake. Luckily it wasn't extremely busy, so there was always a table for 9 people available. The food and drinks tasted delicious.

West aan Zee is the spot on Terschelling where you can enjoy a drink or food after getting a breath of fresh air! With a large terrace and cozy layout, everyone can comfortably find a place. Something that will make every visitor extremely happy is their fries! Very crunchy, very salty and simply delicious! The food is particularly good! They have a fairly diverse menu with delicious sweet cakes, but also many lunch/dinner options. The lunch dishes are surprisingly tasty and the portions are large! The various sweet dishes are very tasty, the cheesecake in particular is very good. The burger was pretty good. The bread/meat ratio is okay, but the bread was quite dry and a lot of it, which took away the taste of the burger a bit. The other dishes were very tasty. We didn't have dinner, but those options looked really good! The service is extremely friendly and attentive. The service was quite fast and otherwise excellent, we had two very nice experiences. The ambiance in the restaurant is very relaxed and has a chill vibe.

Food was good, but the service took a long time. We felt like we were being ignored. People at the table next to us were seated later, but were helped sooner.

Ate here last Saturday March 22, 2025 and the food was delicious. Service just good. I understand why 500,000 people go to Terschelling every year...

Didn't make a reservation but still got a table by the window, service was friendly and the Rib eye was delicious.

Beautiful place, tastefully decorated. Nice dishes on the menu, not so standard. Very friendly service. The beers and mint tea were delicious. We also had pumpkin soup with coconut twice. The soup was served hot, but we found it very bland in taste. It had some shredded coconut topping on it, but we didn't really taste it. With some salt and pepper the taste was slightly better. It came with 1 slice of brown baguette. The soup is not recommended, the rest is.

Delicious coffee and pastries, nice service, our (re-)order quickly. At most, the hustle and bustle on such a beautiful sunny day creates a slightly hurried atmosphere.

Unfortunately bad experiences with West aan zee. Previously it was a great place with nice staff. Now we came for a drink with our children and they walked through an empty part of the store. They were then put on their number in a very unfriendly manner by the staff (woman with black glasses). When asked, she indicated that children should simply sit quietly at the table. So an annoying experience.

An employee was kind enough to let us into the covered area a little earlier than opening time while it was raining heavily, then the manager came and said that this was not the intention, so we felt obliged to spend those 5 minutes outside in the rain. waiting for them to officially open. So no understanding of the situation at all.

This is the best beach pavilion in Terschelling. They have very comfy chairs with cushions. We had oysters which was out of this world.

Fast service, value for money, clean, hospitable staff

The ambience with a view of the North Sea is really nice - but unfortunately the positive ends there. The prices are an absolute disgrace: €20 for a cheeseburger with a tiny portion of fries? Completely overpriced! The service was unfriendly and showed no interest in ensuring a pleasant stay. Definitely can't recommend such a bad experience.

Wonderful after being sandblasted to stop here for a beer, wine and a snack.

Just a cozy beach bar as you would expect. Friendly waiting staff who were sometimes difficult to contact for a follow-up order. But hey, we're on holiday and the sun is shining, so who cares about us? After placing the order, it was on the table in no time, so there is nothing to complain about. Just a nice no-nonsense beach bar.

Nice location and comfortable seating. Nice atmosphere and fast service. The downside is the Carpaccio salad. Is it a one-time miss or? The salad would be served according to the menu WITH parmesan cheese AND truffle mayonnaise. However, both were missing and there was a completely different dressing on it. This dressing made the Carpaccio soggy and the balance between the amount of salad and Carpaccio was also not good. Staff did pay attention to this and deducted it from the bill. Certainly neat but also in place. Would have preferred a tasty Carpaccio salad.

For me the nicest beach bar on Terschelling, but it's a pity that there is no longer dinner. Getting a spot in the summer can be a challenge

Nice beach tent. Has been at post 8 for a long time. Limited menu but tasty. Wraps are of supermarket quality but well covered. Bar service is slower than the food, great performance.

Oud Zuid on the beach nowadays. Nice beach bar but a lot of cold poop. Jumping with a glass of wine in one hand and a bat in the other. Bring the children, but of course they shouldn't complain when mom and dad are making wine! In short, beautiful, but it must be to your taste.

Nice place with good food, too bad it took a long time due to malfunctions without being told. Update! We ate again last holiday, the kitchen was still in perfect condition. Operation is a lot better. Add a star!

Didn't eat there but enjoyed the beach. Beautiful white beach, only the palm trees are missing, otherwise you would travel to faraway places😀

Great beach restaurant with great food and cold drinks. The decor is uncomfortable and I like it very much. Dogs are welcome and are under almost every table. 😎

Some dishes are indicated on the menu as being gluten-free, but the waitress indicated that unfortunately cross-contamination cannot be taken into account in the kitchen.

A magical place on the edge of the Netherlands. So there is definitely something better than Groningen.
