Nice little place to hang out, 2 handsome bartenders and 1 slightly chubby guy taking drinks, quite sweet.

Strandpaviljoen 't Centrum is a lovely spot right on the beach in Katwijk aan Zee. Its location is especially convenient – ​​just steps from the town center, yet right by the sea. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, the service is friendly, and the menu offers a good selection for a quick break, a coffee, or a leisurely meal. The view of the beach and the North Sea makes it all the more enjoyable. For us, it's a pleasant place to grab a drink or a bite to eat after a walk or a stroll through town, and simply enjoy the seaside atmosphere.

Unfortunately, for the first time, I didn't have a pleasant experience here. I used to come here often, and so did my family... in winter and summer. I was here tonight and someone came to the table, politely asking how things were, but they don't wear the restaurant's name/recognizable shirt or anything like that here, so I was a bit confused. Then another employee came, a man of 30/40? In any case, he wasn't very friendly; he had a very surly demeanor and unfortunately made the atmosphere very unpleasant. And when I gave the gentleman a tip at the end, there was no thank you. I also ordered a red fruit smoothie, but I got a yellow smoothie with strawberry sauce on top???? €6.75 for a very small glass with frozen fruit, apple juice, and a slightly too sweet strawberry sauce that belongs on an ice cream? Previously, you got a good glass with just plain red fruit, so for this price, it is very disappointing. Imagine having an allergy to a certain type of fruit like kiwi. The bread roll isn't what it used to be either... bread to dip in oil and salt? A small bowl of butter? And thankfully we did get a cup of herb butter (which wasn't enough, so we ended up eating a butter sandwich instead...), but there was hardly any flavor to anything. Unfortunately, we had to look for another regular beach bar. Suddenly, the atmosphere here is very uncomfortable.

I ordered some friets with mayo and the portion was very small for how much i paid. No tissue was provided, i had to clean my hands on the table. Service was generally unkind and unbothered. I suggest you to go somewhere else :)

A glass of wine and a beer for us. You’d say that should be pretty easy. It’s still a bit disappointing at this pavilion... a long wait before someone comes to take our order, and then - how long does it take before the order is served? You also have to be patient for a bit before you pay. Well... And... Oh right, the Heineken was okay, but the wine was one of fifteen from the dozen 😆

The location naturally has to be beautiful, but every beach bar has that. What sticks with me is that it took a long time before someone came to take our order, even though it wasn't very busy. Additionally, I found the quality disappointing, especially considering the price. As far as I'm concerned, there are better options for lunch on the beach.

The food is excellent value for money (steak, kids' menu, burgers, spare ribs). There's a slide in front of the restaurant and a nice little play area for toddlers inside. Pleasant atmosphere.

What incredibly bad service tonight. It is a busy, hot day, so we understand that it takes a long time, but after waiting for an hour, we finally asked where the food was. Apparently something had gone wrong, this wasn't mentioned, and we had to wait again. After waiting for 1.5 hours, I asked the English-speaking employee again where my food was. According to her, the owner said that our order was placed at the back of the queue again because a small mistake had been made?! Two hours later, we were finally able to eat. We were eventually offered a drink. Yeah, great on an empty stomach. Ridiculous..

The food was more than fine, but the fact that you have to wait an hour for your order to be taken in an empty restaurant with plenty of staff around the bar is a major downside. However, when it finally happened, the service was top-notch! Ordering via QR code at the beach seating outside was also absolutely great.

We were there at 7:00 PM. We weren't served until 20 minutes later and finally got our food at 8:30 PM (people who arrived later got it earlier). We were surprised by the limited dinner options, but it turned out we hadn't been given the appetizers and cocktail menu (we only found out it was there after we had ordered). The chicken was raw! Also, way too expensive for what you get.

The food wasn't frozen and was tasty. The bakery had fish and it was really expensive.

This was the saddest experience ever. It's often fine here, but when the weather is nice, they suddenly don't have their preparations in order and everything is suddenly sold out. As for compensation, forget it! What an annoying place. And no one who even thinks logically about a solution.

The atmosphere is peak. 5/5 with a nice singer singing lots of songs with support musicians playing music instruments. Service is also good. The waiter had trouble speaking english but was patient and we got past the language barrier Food was amazing. Absolutely peak. But the drinks were the reason that i am giving a 4 star rating and not a 5 star rating. Drinks for 4.5x their original price. Do not buy the drinks at all

A very nice, cozy restaurant right on the beach in Katwijk. The food was fantastic, the view breathtaking. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I highly recommend it.

Great food, very friendly service

My husband and I were just there, chose a free, unreserved table, and sat down. Three waiters and waitresses looked right over our faces; no one came to ask about our drinks or food orders. After my husband politely asked if we could place our order, the waitress walked past us without a word. So, after 10 minutes, we left the restaurant and went to Zee en Zon, where we were served immediately and had a delicious meal.

Beautiful beach pavilion. Very central in Katwijk. I stayed in a Skip Inn beach house myself. Next to this nice beach pavilion. Great service and lots of options. It is a lovely place to sit. Various nice seating areas. And very friendly service on the terrace, but also inside. The service is truly outstanding. I have been helped very well and kindly every time by everyone who works here. Also had some nice drinks and food. Everything was top-notch. I would love to come back. And I absolutely recommend it. Also the nice beach houses next door. ☀️🩵

Lovely spot for a bite and a drink. Enjoyed the Fish & Chips and Texels Skuumkoppe, among other things. Cozy terrace with comfortable chairs and very friendly and attentive service. Right on the beautiful beach of Katwijk aan Zee.

The food was good, unfortunately the service was a bit slow. We even ordered baguette with herb butter but unfortunately never received it; it took quite a long time before the order was taken.

Stopped here during a bike ride. Very beautifully situated on the beach. Terrace with a shelter from the wind (although there wasn't much wind today). We had a Lowlander 0.0% and a fuchsia tea green. For lunch, we had a trio of fish and shrimp croquettes. Everything was delicious. Katwijk beach is fantastically beautiful, we will be back again!!!

Great food and service at this beach restaurant. Staff were helpful in describing in English all the foods. Food came out quick and hot and portions were large. You can sit inside or out but you get a great view of the North Sea either way. Try it out

Great beach bar with young, sufficient, and friendly staff when we were there. Simple menu and prices as you would expect (not expensive but certainly not cheap either). Portions are good and the taste is fine. Dessert surprisingly beautifully presented and tasty. Plenty of seating inside or on the terrace with a direct view of the beach and sea. Parking in the paid parking garage.

What a lovely place for coffee and apple cake. The place is very cozy and nicely decorated. There are toys for children. The toilets are clean. It's spacious. The apple cake was delicious. Friendly and uncomplicated staff. This place is located directly at the beach.

Well, what can I say? Upon entering, three waitresses were standing there talking to each other while we just stood there waiting. It was still very quiet in terms of guests. So we went over to the bar and asked if we could sit anywhere. After about fifteen minutes, we asked if we had to order food and drinks at the bar because we didn't see anyone. Once we finally got our drinks—the oranges still need to be picked, as this took a very long time again—there was a fly in my juice and the glass had a big crack. Next, we waited for the food for more than half an hour, and it wasn't much better. They first put a piece of paper on the plate, and then your hamburger and fries are placed on top of that. I don't know what the point of this is, but I found it very unappetizing, besides the fact that you end up cutting it to pieces because it gets soggy from all the grease. The meat hamburger was weird, by the way, because that wasn't the intention. My veggie burger was decent. Once home, I developed severe intestinal problems from which I still haven't recovered. In short: we are never going here again.

Yesterday was the first beautiful sunny day of 2026, so we went to the beach. And it was pleasantly busy. We were there with our whole family and friends. The service was excellent – ​​we politely asked for our patience because it was incredibly busy. So, we enjoyed a cold, excellent beer on the terrace and perused the menu. Something for everyone and very affordable. It took a little longer, but considering the huge crowds, it was understandable. And it was worth the wait. Since the new chef took over, the dishes are surprising, fresh, varied, and delicious. Bring on the beautiful summer weather! It's wonderful to relax here on the lovely sunny terrace.

We had a reservation, and after sitting at the table for half an hour, we left. Not once did anyone come to take our order.

We went for the first time this afternoon. Ordered two carpaccio sandwiches (€16.50 each). I've never had such a pathetic sandwich. Only one slice of white bread underneath. They should be ashamed of themselves. We won't be going back. There are beach bars where you pay less and get more.

We were at a party here. It was well-organized, the service was great, and the atmosphere was great.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening. It was quiet; only a few tables were occupied, except for one larger group in the back. The atmosphere was otherwise fine. We ordered a starter but had an unexpectedly long wait. When it was finally served, the soup was lukewarm. The taste was okay, but the temperature was disappointing. The main course took another long time to arrive, even though it was still very quiet around 7:30 PM. This raised the question of how such waits can arise with such low occupancy. The drinks we ordered were also delivered late – even after we had already finished our meal. The staff didn't seem overworked; there was no visible rush or stress. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Despite the quiet Saturday evening, the wait times for both the dishes and drinks were far too long, which negatively impacted the experience.

Delicious tomato soup as a starter. The chicken curry was very filling, delicious! Unfortunately, the bavarois was frozen solid and was unpleasant to eat.

We went to Soldaat van Oranje with a group of 11 people and had made a reservation at this charming beach pavilion. We sat down at our table at 5 p.m., having been told we had to leave by 7 p.m. Unfortunately, we didn't get our starters until 6:30 p.m. The table was very crowded due to all the bottles of drinks and empty starter plates, but that was overlooked. There were also a few people looking directly into the sun, but the curtains couldn't be closed. The staff is very friendly, but the quality of the service could be better. It was very frustrating that we couldn't have a decent meal during those two hours. If you know a week in advance that a large group is coming for dinner and the weather is nice, it's also helpful to hire more staff or even help out as a manager. The terrace was full, but the only food coming out of the kitchen was bittergarnituurtjes (small snacks). This is quite a long review, but I hope the beach pavilion will do something about it. Had dinner here and really enjoyed it. The staff are all friendly and fast. My vegetarian burger was superb! The patty was crunchy and was made delicious with all the garnish. The fries were also crispy and the mayo was smooth and flavourful. We were lucky to see the sunset as we ate, and then witness a beautiful moonrise as we left.

We were there on Sunday. Half a chicken was only available from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. And not on Sundays. That was a disappointment. We tried again on Tuesday. Couldn't because it was just after 7:00 PM. And we were there before 7:00 PM. But it took a very long time to get served. All the staff were young. No interest in customers. A slightly older woman looked grumpy. The spare ribs were very tasty, though. The fries had already been broken a few times, very hard. When I said something, I was told: "I didn't fry them." Ugh. You normally pass that on to the chef. The next day we asked for tomato soup. They didn't have it anymore. It was our favorite beach bar until a year ago. Back then, they had a good manager. Good, but somewhat older staff. It's a shame that didn't continue. Now the staff is everywhere, but there's no structure. A real shame.

Everything was great! Very friendly waitresses, who first asked if the dogs needed a drink. 👍🏻 The service was excellent. The food was great. We had a Vegaburger, which was delicious, and the "Early Bird Special" was half a grilled chicken. Juicy and tender. And the sausage rolls were delicious, too.

Hebben na een mooie dag even gezellig een drankje gedaan. T zat helemaal vol maar werden snel en vriendelijk geholpen door t personeel. Gezellig een drankje en een bittergarnituur met een brood en smeerseltjes genieten van de zon. T personeel kwamen meerdere keren langs of t allemaal goed was en of we nog wat wilde bestellen. Het is een eenvoudige kaart maar welke lekkere cocktails en genieten van t strand.

Shabby, with broken parasols from my mother's time. After drinks, no one came back to take our food order. Probably for a reason. Ceasar salad shouldn't be called that. You can also serve grass. The garnish next door looked better. Curry? It was a bit like it, but nothing more. I know all the beach bars in Katwijk, but this is a disappointment... I pointed out that the Caesar salad was a bit sparse, and the comment: yes, that's how it should be... Find a different chef, I'd say. I didn't expect this.

We went there for dinner yesterday, and I was asked if I could perhaps leave a review. I'm happy to do so. So: We were there for coffee at lunch and, because of the nice atmosphere, we immediately reserved a table for the evening. It all worked out great. For dinner, we had the prawn curry, the kip satay skewer, and fish & chips. The prawn curry tasted amazing. The curry sauce was superb, the vegetables were crunchy, and the prawns were cooked to perfection. The rice served with it was a bit overcooked, but with the sauce (and you get a lot of sauce, since everything except the rice is served in a larger bowl), it wasn't a problem. The satay skewer was also very tasty; you can also taste that the satay sauce is homemade. Unfortunately, the fish & chips weren't that great. Anyone expecting freshly fried fish in traditional beer batter will be disappointed, as they only serve deep-fried frozen fish with breadcrumbs. This was very disappointing, especially considering the price of the dish (€18.50), especially since they seem to be trying to somehow evoke the original with a newspaper page underneath. There was too little mayo and too much tartar sauce. 4/5 stars... we'll go back, but not for the fish & chips :)

We went here last week. The lunch menu had already started at 11:00, so we ordered fish and chips at 11:30. To our surprise, there was no fish. And this in Katwijk. So, just fries, because we were hungry. It took forever. The staff was friendly but couldn't say anything more than "they were working on it." At exactly 12:00, fries were suddenly served to several tables. Ours too. It was clear that the fryer still needed to be fired up. Don't put this on the menu for 11:00. Furthermore, the fries were small, salty, and sparse; clearly the bottom leftovers from the container. A waste of money, a waste of time. I'm left with a bad feeling; it feels like you're being ripped off as a day tripper. Next time we're in Katwijk, we won't be going to this beach bar.

After passing by the beach several times, we decided to have dinner here today. The service was nonexistent; the first drink arrived quickly and without any problems; all subsequent orders were only taken at the beck and call of the staff. We ordered spare ribs and a steak, both of which were mediocre at full price, if not more. The second round of drinks never arrived at our table. The staff didn't understand a word of English and made no effort. The promenade is full of great restaurants, all worth a visit, but this one definitely wasn't!

The service was a complete disaster. I can't explain the positive reviews at all. Are they bought? The waitresses ignore you and only talk to each other. We weren't asked if we wanted anything to eat when we ordered drinks. Getting staff to come to our table to order something is basically impossible. After being ignored several times, we almost had to fight to order something to eat. All the tables around us were served equally poorly. The drinks we ordered simply never arrived. No one asks you if everything is okay at your table and if you need anything else. The food was just okay. The fries were bad, however they can't make them well. The staff barely speak English, even though none of them are over 20 years old. The chairs are very uncomfortable and not suitable for long stays.

Today we had a wonderful afternoon at the beach, ending it on the outdoor terrace of Beach Pavilion 't Centrum. The service was excellent and attentive. After a delicious refreshing drink, we ordered a meal, which was served promptly. The food was good and plentiful. The atmosphere was pleasant and the vibe was great. All the more reason to eat there again! Thanks to the team, see you next time.

We went there twice and it was just fantastic 😍 The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and so dog-friendly 😍 We will definitely be back on our next holiday in the Netherlands :)

Het personeel was totaal niet bezig met gasten in het restaurant maar vooral erg druk met elkaar aan het kletsen. 5 hangjongeren achter de bar die geen blik wierpen op de gasten. Je moest actief iemand wenken als je geholpen wilde worden anders zat je er een uur later nog zonder dat er een bestelling was opgenomen. Wij stonden op het punt om weg te gaan toen na een aantal keren wenken (er zat bijna niemand dus druk was het niet) iemand naar ons toe kwam. Een ander stel stapte op toen ze ook lang moesten wachten. Gaat lekker op deze manier daar!

The staff doesn't pay attention to customers. They just stand behind the bar chatting with each other, and you have to actively wave them down to order. They don't even come to you on their own. We were about to leave because no one came to us, even though the staff were all busy talking. Another couple next to us also left early. I see from the comments that this is unfortunately a common practice at this establishment. If they continue this trend, I wonder how long it will last if customers stay away or leave because they're not being helped.

Unfortunately, the service isn't attentive to customers. Our drinks only arrived upon request, and we were only able to pay the bill after repeated requests.

Nice place, but sometimes they forget the applesauce

I haven't had spare ribs in a long time. And they were very good with the sauce.
