Surakarta Restaurant in Binnenstad-Zuid

Actually the best Indonesian restaurant I know in Europe! Not ideally located, very small rooms, but absolutely excellent cuisine! Highly recommended

We ordered food to be delivered. Not only did it take almost 2 hours (they advertise the “delivery within minutes”) but also instead of vegetarian we got one meat meal. That is unacceptable. Later on we found a fly in the food and suspect it arrived with the meal.. The taste of food was ok although much too greasy for our taste. Very expensive - 45€ for two dishes

The food is fine, but the delivery is not. It takes much, much too long, and the agreed delivery time is not met by a long shot.

Eten is prima, maar bezorgen niet. Het duurt veel en veel te lang. De opgegeven bezorgtijd wordt bij lange na niet gehaald.

At this restaurant I now see the opening hours on the Thuiszorgd website for today at 19:00. I seem to remember that "the times" are adjusted very regularly per day. So in practice I have never been able to order online here.

Delivery guy in company car didn't give me priority today, even though he came from Rapenburg. He also started cursing. Very rude!

Nasi rames thuis besteld. Het vlees direct in de vuilnisbak, vieze dikke vetranden. In een woord ONSMAKELIJK. Meteen daarover gebeld omdat de spaarkaart (vaste klant) er niet bij zat. Wordt afgedaan door de dame aan de telefoon met excuses. Daar heb ik niets aan mevrouw! Commerciële flater, gewoon iets goeds leveren! Desnoods niet met dat vieze vlees!

Ik als indische vrouw kan zeggen dat dit restaurant niets te maken heeft met de indische keuken. Dit was Indisch op z’n Hollands. Totaal smakeloos. Zonde van ons geld.

Good menu with attractive dishes, especially the vegetarian Indonesian rice table is recommended.

Very tasty Indonesian food. The rice table is extensive and fulfills all wishes. However, their preparation is complex and takes time (just under an hour). I recommend not arriving too hungry.

Great food, I recommend the rice tables for the taste experiences. Fast and friendly service. It's a good thing we made a reservation because everything was full and that on a Thursday.

Delicious Indonesian food. We had different dishes, but I liked the Rendang the best. In addition to the food, the service was also good. The prices are also reasonable.

Het eten was smakeloos. De boontjes waren waterig.Alles had dezelfde smaak. Smaakte of het van de diepvies in de magnetron gezet was.

Fantastic and especially complete rice table for 2 people. Can easily be enjoyed by 3 people and still have some left over.

We ate Nasi Rames here. Delicious! Nicely helped. The 2 waitresses were very busy serving all the tables, which they did excellently, but they were running out of steam. The atmosphere is good, but it is not very cozy. We also noticed that the lights and grille in the restaurant were in serious need of cleaning. We found the prices very reasonable. There were two of us, we only ate a main course, a bottle of bubble water, a beer and tea and we paid a good €60. We were more than satisfied and couldn't finish our food.

Authentic Indonesian food. The Nasi Rames was delicious and the service was smooth, friendly and professional. Highly recommended.

This was only our second time eating Indonesian food. The United States doesn’t have it there! We ate at a “good” Indonesian restaurant in Amsterdam but this was way better. And the service was prompt and friendly. Thank you!

What a disappointment! We went to Hillegom to have dinner at an Indonesian restaurant but it was closed. We called the Surakarta Restaurant before 8pm, booked a table and went to Leiden. We parked, arrived at the restaurant before 9pm and the ladies (who had an empty restaurant) said they no longer served food. We explained that we had a reservation. They said they didn't know anything, that it must be a mistake, maybe we had called another restaurant. We show the cell phone with the last call a few minutes ago. They ignored it. We complained saying that it was said on the internet that it closed at 10pm and it was still 9pm. They told us to come back the next day. We didn't come back the next day nor will we ever come back. Be careful, I don't recommend it at all!

Best Indonesian restaurant Leiden and surrounding areas. Ordered often and enjoyed it every time. Always delicious food and super tasty! The food tastes good and you always get a lot. Lots of variety from fish to meat. The rice table is highly recommended. Then you will have many types of delicious dishes! They always call to say that delivery may take a little longer due to crowds. So good service! Definitely worth repeating and highly recommended for anyone who loves Indian food.

Delicious vegetarian rice table experience, with plenty of food and many different dishes. I appreciated that our server walked us through each option as the food arrived. The service timing was a little slow, but we were so pleased with the meal that we didn't mind waiting. It was quite busy so I would recommend making a reservation.

Ever good for service and soul food. Not for a while unfortunately. At 8.45 pm: No, we have a quiet evening, so no, the kitchen is closed. Predictive? Anyway, the tent is done for good. Also for orders as far as I'm concerned.

Delicious food but slow service! We had a great time celebrating a birthday at this restaurant, we ordered multiple combo menus and got to try many small delicious dishes. Sadly it just took a long time for it to be served, over 40 minutes! And since I know most Indonesian restaurants cook their dishes in batches (as the portions are so small) I had a hard time to understand why it took so long. I do have to say that the staff was very friendly! Definitely try their Rendang and Pisang goreng with Ice cream, they were both delicious. Try this place out if you don't mind waiting a bit longer for your food, it's worth it!

Surakarta is a nice restaurant to enjoy Indonesian cuisine. It is not a very large eatery and the decor is somewhat basic. Although they have done their best to create oriental atmospheres. The service is extremely friendly and correct. The food was on the table quickly and, as we expected, it was in excellent condition! The prices are relatively reasonable. All in all a good place to enjoy Indonesian food in Leiden.

Uitstekend Indonesisch eten en snelle service. Toont een beetje oud, maar dat heeft ook wel zijn charmes.

Restaurant Surakarta is naar mijn mening veruit een van de beste Indonesische restaurants in Nederland. De smaken zijn authentiek en in balans. Alles klopt. Mijn Indonesische oma is dit jaar overleden en de familie is vanuit alle hoeken van het land overgekomen naar het hospice. Mijn oma vroeg hier om haar laatste maaltijd met de familie en deze moest en zou gehaald worden bij Surakarta. Jullie hebben werkelijk een ieder teruggebracht naar Indonesië. Namens de hele familie bedankt voor het verzorgen van deze bijzondere maaltijd. En wij komen zeker terug.

Heerlijk. Netjes op tijd bezorgd. Er werd 1 uur ervoor gebeld dat de bestelling op tijd zou zijn.

Heerlijk gegeten! Wij hadden Surakarta rijsttafel voor 2 personen. Geweldige variatie in de smaken heel anders dan bij een chinees/indische rijsttafel.

Verrukkelijke gerechten. Altijd genieten, prima kwaliteit. Supertevreden.

It is the best authentic Indonesia cuisine served in this region. Our server and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful with the selection of our meal choices 😋. We were extremely pleased 😀!

This was our second "rice table" on the trip. Had it been the first, I might have been more generous, but it fell rather short of the established standard. The food was good but all the sauces were on the sweet side, which got a bit much. The portions (for two people) were very substantial and we couldn't finish it all. That helps when the mackerel dish was too fishy for either of us, and we were offered a 'doggy bag' if we had wanted.

Op basis van reviews hier 2 april gegeten. Mijn gerecht (Pangang) was steenkoud. Het gerecht van een tafelgenoot kwam een stuk later dan voor de anderen. De bezorgers (?) zaten vlak achter ons in de bijkeuken en draaiden hun eigen muziek. Zo hard dat de gasten konden “genieten” van stevige jaren 70 rockmuziek. Leek er niet op. Wij komen hier niet meer terug. Ik begrijp niet hoe dit restaurant zo goed beoordeeld wordt. Middelmatig, een 6- en dan ben ik nog aardig.

Het was minder Indisch dan ik gewend ben in andere Indonesische restaurants. Er zaten zelfs een paar gerechten bij waarvan ik echt niet kan zeggen dat ze goed waren. Jammer!

Genoten van een heerlijke rijsttafel, was weer ouderwets goed.

Vegetarisch menu , 1persoon had gevulde omelet en 1 persoon had groente met rijstblokken. Niet bijzonder. Voorgerecht van 3 verschillende hapjes was lekker, wel allemaal gefrituurd.

Binnen een maand of zo 2 x een rijsttafel gegeten bij Surakarta. De eerste keer was prima, de tweede keer was het minder goed. Een beetje mat van smaak, zonder uitschieters. Jammer, want de andere keer was er wel veel variatie in de smaken.

Super Indonesian food The Mackerel wrapped in Bannana leaf is awesome, don't miss the Goat curry. Personally prefer alacarte

Hoe vaak ik er ook bestel, het stelt nooit teleur. Heerlijk!

Het eten is de keren dat ik het heb geprobeerd redelijk tot goed. Kan Surakarta alleen daarop beoordelen omdat ik ze alleen ken van afhalen. Waar ik zeer kritisch over ben zijn de miniscule porties. Jammer want het eten is best goed.

Echt verukkelijk! Altijd smullen, en alles wordt netjes op tijd bezorgd. Heel soms komt de bestelling door omstandigheden iets later, maar dan word je altijd gebeld zodat je op de hoogte bent. Heerlijk eten en prima service!

Mooie uitgebreide rijsttafel. Vlotte en vriendelijke bediening. Compact, maar niet opgepropt. Mooie locatie om de hoek van het Rapenburg.
