Very attentive staff and the owner makes sure you have a nice evening as well! The feeling is truely an Omakase dining (staff are Japanese) it sets the vibe as you are in Japan. As with most fine dining experiences it's about the journey and taste...I would strongly suggest not coming here that hungry (I'll just be honest) for big eaters it's definitely not enough but for the moderate eater it's well balanced and enough 🫠. Also if you have any food allergies you can tell the staff and they will change it for you. Especially the Chutoro is very nice After you're done with the course you have the option to order some more sushi 🍣 it will crank up the price if you don't mind breaking the bank 😂 but still everything is excellent even with the 90 euro course. Worth the try in my opinion if you're reading this review and considering Hanabi sushi 🙂

This place is such a gem! The owner is sooo sweet and works very hard. The staff is super good too, our glasses were never empty! And to top it off; the chef is Amazing!!!! Overall was this my favorite dining experience in Amsterdam! I would recommend everyone to visit at least once!! Thanks for making our night very special, we will definitely be revisiting. This is high class omakase. The staff are great, telling us about the dishes and how they were prepared. Do note, that the staff is japanese! So it's in English, and it really helps if you know some small words in Japanese! The fish was really well prepared and the chef knows what he is doing. The ambiance is fine, nothing crasy, nice woodwork and low-FI japanese jazz in tbe background, it was really nice to have a small basket to put your jacket and purse in, it makes the whole room less cluttered.

We loved every moment of it. The chef and staff are such amazing souls, they make you feel taken care and so welcome. The food is simply to die for, they bring the tuna from Spain and I can say hands down, it was the best chutoro and toro I've ever had.

I have been to Hanabi twice now and have tried the two different Omakase menus. They are both worth it. The food is really good and diverse. Sometimes you only get nigiri in other Omakase restaurants but I do like that at Hanabi you get the whole dining experience with appetisers, sushi, soup and desserts. All in all, a truly enjoyable experience. And the new chef is so adorable:)

We visited this restaurant with my wife for the 150 EUR Christmas menu, and unfortunately, I was disappointed by the visit. Starting from the service, it was on a high level, everyone was welcoming, attentive to the details, and it just felt nice, up to the Japanese standards, which are quite high - it's the positive side of the service. On the negative side, the total atmosphere was like at the funerals, totally opposite to the fun; there was no introduction, welcoming word from the chef, he just prepared the food, served it with words like "This is salmon", and everyone ate in total silence. In the other similar place, the chef told a lot about the history of sushi, how to eat it in the right way, where the fish was imported from, and some secrets of preparing it in the right way. Here... just "This is fatty tuna", that's all :( The food was, well, some was very nice, some was very strange. The eel sushi was very questionable, with eel without any structure, like mashed potatoes. The sweet shrimp sushi was with some strange bitterness; the opening dish - egg white in oil - was the worst opening dish I've ever eaten. But all the tuna sushi was on a high level. TL;DR: grim atmosphere, some sushi just meh, very overpriced, don't recommend.

The food was good, lovely flavours!

We made a reservation for 7 ( 6 adults and a child ) for which we had to pay a 10 euro deposit for each person, the child ended up not going. The table and seat was taken and given to someone else ( totally fine ) but then the 10 euro was deducted. ( not fine , you already got the money back that was lost by giving the seat away ) it was too hot inside , staff wasn’t super friendly and food is mediocre and overpriced.

Best sushi I've ever had. All the dishes are unique, delicious and with variety of complex flavors. The staff are amazing, very attentive to make sure you have a nice experience. The place is relatively small, so there is a comfortable atmosphere.

World class omakase experience that delivers on all fronts. Extremely fresh fish expertly prepared in front of your eyes by a chef who demonstrates his focus and knife skills extremely well. Service was at the highest level of what we have experienced in Amsterdam, on par with the experience at Yamazato or Ciel Bleu. We even had the pleasure of being attended to by the owner himself - if you are lucky enough to meet Mr. Matsumoto on your visit you will also get the experience of felling like you are the most important guest and that their top priority is making your experience as enjoyable as possivle. Although there was only one sparkling wine option (no champagne), the saki selection was good and served with extreme care. Highlights were the otoro and chotoro courses which come with caviar that complements the tuna perfectly. Perfect for a date, a special occasion, or just a night when you want the best possivle Sashimi available in the Amsterdam.

Just had a fantastic evening. The staff was incredibly sweet and friendly, and the sushi was indescribably good. You can really tell they put time, passion, and love into the dishes. If you were hesitant to go, I can now dispel your doubts. It's an experience you'll never forget!

We liked the place and the food. The lunch menu is a bit limited but still very tasty. We had two different dishes with chicken and in both the chicken were tender, well-marinated and went really well with the food. I’d come back for lunch!

This might just be the most overpriced omakase in the entire country. The shari was a complete joke—poorly seasoned, wrong texture, and totally mismatched in temperature with the fish, which itself felt like it came straight out of a fridge. The whole thing was rushed like a cheap conveyor belt joint, with zero atmosphere, zero attention to detail, and absolutely no sense of hospitality or craft. An embarrassment to the word “omakase.”

My favorite Japanese spot in Amsterdam. Authentic omakase, with no redundant frills. The rice is just amazing, let alone the quality of the seafood. In my opinion they deserve a Michelin star or at least recognition. I have visited Hanabi Sushi at least 15 times. Let's go back to the rice, perfect texture, acidity and temperature. Something you cannot get elsewhere in Amsterdam. Each dish/nigiri is perfectly balanced. If you miss Japan, come to Hanabi. Great value for omakase.

I have been to quite a few high end omakase and generally Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam and London - Ken sushi, Maru, Rai, Yamazato, Chisou Sushi and Izakaya etc. This is my favorite! Everything is exquisite - the food, the atmosphere and the service. First the food! It’s is perfect! I visited three times and each time all the dishes beautiful, fresh and delicious! Exceptional attention to detail and flawless execution! Some of the best fish I ever had. I always enjoy the atmosphere - it’s peaceful, relaxed and cozy. I truly enjoy my time in Hanabi Sushi. The service is top notch. I feel welcome and , the stuff is very friendly and nice. It’s a real pleasure to dine there. I thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend Hanabi Sushi to all sushi enthusiasts, lovers of quality cuisine and those who appreciate a proper dining experience.

Overall a great experience, my first Omakase experience at that. The food is invariably of very high quality, in particular the sea bass course (second course) was exceptional. Also the squid sushi, blue fin sushi's and eel sushi deserve honorable mentions. Overall price/quality is good but not exceptional, hence the 4 stars Service was excellent and very helpful. Atmosphere is an interesting one, the restaurant is a cute wooden bar and work area, some decorations worked well (typical Japanese items), others seemed out of place. Also the waiting area had a random iron lying around, not a massive detractor but easily prevented. Also the othet guests were all mostly on their phones, I know not the restaurant's fault, so no markdown for this, though it didn't help the ambiance. Overall most certainly a place I'd recommend if you like Japanese food.

Celebrated our anniversary here. The personnel were lovely, the food was great and the atmosphere was very soothing. I think they are a big fan of the Your Name movie as I recognized the songs of the movie playing. We enjoyed the experience and want to thank the personnel for their outstanding work.

The ōtoro with caviar was one of the best bites of food I've ever experienced. As a Japanese speaker, it was a lot of fun to speak Japanese with them. 感謝しています! The sushi was tasty and certainly some sushi was of very high quality. But overall we are not surprised and certainly not blown away. For the price and the concept of omakase, you expect something more special. The room itself is attractively decorated, but we had a noisy group of four young boys next to us who immediately took over the entire room. The host and chefs are very friendly and provide excellent service, but they hardly speak English. As a result, there was virtually no explanation about the dishes and ingredients were difficult to understand. With an omakase you expect a little more background and explanation. The most expensive sake on the menu was also immediately recommended as a recommendation. In addition, we had made a reservation at 9:00 PM, but we were pushed through the menu of 10 dishes very quickly. If we did not leave the dishes for a while, the next dish would be on the table immediately. We were the last at 10:30 PM and the atmosphere was very tense that they were closing. If you want your guests gone at 10:30 PM, you shouldn't offer omakase at 9:00 PM. With such an amount you expect to be able to enjoy your evening in peace and relaxation. In short, the food was certainly delicious, but certainly below par for the expectations we had and the price you pay and a very rushed feeling.

Ok our first experience with omekase, super ok Sometimes it was a bit different and there was something that wasn't necessary (the raw squid). But the rest was really great, fresh and sublimely topped with yuzu, wasabi or soy The photos will say enough and I was really full at the end Recommended, but it is not really cheap Oh yes, we drank great sakes that were also well explained. I just thought it was a shame that everything that came together in quick succession could have been a bit slower

This place has the best unagi don in NL in my opinion. It has quite a good selection of Yakitori as well. I came on a Sunday when the sushi bar is usually closed, will come back to try for sure. The restaurant is quite small and a bit noisy (which is understandable as it is located in the heart of Amsterdam) so might not be suitable for big groups.

I am speechless. The food, the service, the venue itself - 5 stars and more. I am happy we took a full menu as we got to try all the amazing dishes served that night. I would recommend this restaurant to any fish lover, quality is top notch.

Last year this was my most favorite place to eat sushi In Amsterdam. Sadly the chef has changed, and now the prices have increased hugely. The food quality and the experience has totally changed. Not in a good way I will use the word disappointed! Which makes me sad.

This was a fantastic meal during Christmas week in Amsterdam. The service was attentive and helpful, and the omakase experience was intimate and friendly. The chef explained what he was serving at each course, and the flavor combinations were delightful. I was pleased to try such a variety of high-quality sushi.

When you arrive outside, you think you are wrong. Once inside (upstairs) you will feel like you are in an oasis of peace and quiet. The food is prepared in front of you. Each dish is presented per piece, per person and they are told exactly what it is. (you are also asked politely about allergies). Prepare yourself, because here you will eat the tastiest Japanese dishes you have ever tasted! The costs are high, but the service and quality are also high!

We set on the wrong side. We came for sushi but we realised later sushi section is upstairs. Thay said it is different restaurants.. anyway.. we had Japanese grill. It was ok but our expectation was higher depending on the 4.8 rating.

Young chef left, so it's not the same anymore, which is a shame, they were so good, he and her wife, if anyone knows where he works now, let me know, that was a talented chef.

My best Omakase dining experience in Amsterdam so far since I live here two years now. Is was flawless from the service, food, wine, atmosphere especially everyone was happy working and making jokes which was really lovely to see. We spent above 400€ but worth every singel cent, highly recommended if you are a big fan of Japanese traditional Omakase.

For my birthday, my friend arranged the Omakase experience at Sushi Hanabi, and it was a great choice! The sushi chef explained what was served with each course, which made the experience not only delicious, but also interesting. The food was delicious, with refined flavors and careful preparation. As a surprise, I received a beautifully presented dessert with a candle at the end - a sweet and festive touch that completed the evening. Sushi Hanabi is recommended for anyone who enjoys a personal and special sushi experience!

My partner and I had a great time at Sushi Hanabi. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming and the different dishes were all super tasty! We especially liked the total aesthetic of eating everything in the traditional Japanese way and watching the chef at work creating each masterpiece with his knife cutting skills. Let’s start off with that the staff is amazing and will do everything to make you feel at ease. The ambiance is OK, but the amount of food and the taste of the food disappointed us. We did multiple Omakases in Amsterdam and this time on both the taste and the amount of food it didn’t satisfy us. The different sakes we ordered were nice though. All in all we expected more.

The staff is very friendly. The products are of high quality, but the pricing is not acceptable for the amount of food they serve. The pricing is €130 for a omakase course of 9 pieces of sushi and 3 warm dishes. Drinks are also on the expensive side. The atmosphere of the restaurant is okay, but when you pay €130 for a omakase experience you don’t expect they serve all your dishes in 1h10min, the whole experience feels kinda rushed.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Hanabi's omakase at Leidseplein 10, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the welcoming atmosphere set the tone for an exceptional evening. The dishes were a culinary journey, perfectly suited to the rainy weather outside. We began with a warm, sweet steamed custard soup that was comforting and delicious. Each subsequent dish was a masterpiece, from the kingfish with nori and Japanese herb to the bluefin tuna belly that melted in my mouth. Personal highlights included the tuna tartar handroll with warm rice and crisp nori, the rich abalone with sweet sauce, and the prawn topped with caviar, which was so good we ordered it again after the main course. The attention to detail was impeccable—fresh ginger was constantly replenished to cleanse the palate, and each dish's flavors were thoughtfully balanced without overwhelming the senses. The sake pairing, starting with a light Matsuno Tsukasa Kimoto Junmaishu and progressing to a richer Tsukino Katsura Asahi, was expertly chosen by the waitress and complemented the meal perfectly. The dessert course capped the evening beautifully, especially the egg custard flambéed with sugar, reminiscent of a delicate crème brûlée. Mochi with a light sweet sauce and chocolate powder was a delightful and light finish. This was my first omakase experience, and it couldn’t have been better. The seasonal dishes, the flawless service, and the warm ambiance made for an amazing dining experience. I'll definitely be returning and highly recommend Sushi Hanabi to anyone looking for an exceptional meal in Amsterdam!

The general has changed. The atmosphere of the store has also changed. It's delicious. It's a shame that the variety of sake and wine has decreased, and I can't find a pairing that goes well with sushi...

Everything was going smoothly until the Chef randomly didn’t put the gulp of black caviar on my ebi sushi. I like black caviar and asked why. They offer me extra ebi. At the end of the day I hit the bill with €33.50 extra for their random choice. Was a bit disappointed and left puzzled.

This restaurant delivers 9 rounds of excellence with a few surprises along the way. The chef serves each round with humor and is sure to bring a smile on your face. It definitely is one of the finer sushi’s i’ve ever tasted but be sure to pace yourself cause you will burn through the rounds otherwise.

The experience of a lifetime🤍 This is the second time we've been there, and I didn't think it was possible but the chef managed to surpass our first impression (which had already made us want to come back!) Last March I went to Hanabi with my boyfriend for my birthday which was a really amazing evening. We had a really delicious meal and of all the omakase in Amsterdam I think this is really the best. The atmosphere is really great and the people are incredibly friendly and do everything they can to give you a nice evening. We had the 65 euro menu, I believe, which is number 2 of the 3 price categories they offer. We were just full after this, not bloated like an all you can eat. We were surprised with every bite and I didn't really have anything I didn't like. My friend is less into fish and sushi, but even he loved it. It is of course a more expensive experience, but you can make it as expensive as you want, since they have different menus and you could also order separately if you wanted.
