This was a fantastic meal during Christmas week in Amsterdam. The service was attentive and helpful, and the omakase experience was intimate and friendly. The chef explained what he was serving at each course, and the flavor combinations were delightful. I was pleased to try such a variety of high-quality sushi.

amazing everything. food was amazing, atmosphere was super calm and perfect. Service was impeccable. Nothing bad to say, worth every single penny.

When you arrive outside, you think you are wrong. Once inside (upstairs) you will feel like you are in an oasis of peace and quiet. The food is prepared in front of you. Each dish is presented per piece, per person and they are told exactly what it is. (you are also asked politely about allergies). Prepare yourself, because here you will eat the tastiest Japanese dishes you have ever tasted! The costs are high, but the service and quality are also high!

We set on the wrong side. We came for sushi but we realised later sushi section is upstairs. Thay said it is different restaurants.. anyway.. we had Japanese grill. It was ok but our expectation was higher depending on the 4.8 rating.

Young chef left, so it's not the same anymore, which is a shame, they were so good, he and her wife, if anyone knows where he works now, let me know, that was a talented chef.

My best Omakase dining experience in Amsterdam so far since I live here two years now. Is was flawless from the service, food, wine, atmosphere especially everyone was happy working and making jokes which was really lovely to see. We spent above 400€ but worth every singel cent, highly recommended if you are a big fan of Japanese traditional Omakase.

For my birthday, my friend arranged the Omakase experience at Sushi Hanabi, and it was a great choice! The sushi chef explained what was served with each course, which made the experience not only delicious, but also interesting. The food was delicious, with refined flavors and careful preparation. As a surprise, I received a beautifully presented dessert with a candle at the end - a sweet and festive touch that completed the evening. Sushi Hanabi is recommended for anyone who enjoys a personal and special sushi experience!

The experience wasn’t worth the price. Bad Shari, powdered wasabi and no atmosphere. Otsumami where good.

Had a nice omakase experience here. The sushi was made delicately by the chefs and the atmosphere was soothing and calm, a perfect spot to relax and enjoy dinner.

My partner and I had a great time at Sushi Hanabi. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming and the different dishes were all super tasty! We especially liked the total aesthetic of eating everything in the traditional Japanese way and watching the chef at work creating each masterpiece with his knife cutting skills. What was especially good was that at the end, if you are still hungry, you can always order more of your favourites to enjoy the experience even longer. 10 stars! Thanks again.

Best sushi I’ve ever had, everything was so fresh and the experience was great

Let’s start off with that the staff is amazing and will do everything to make you feel at ease. The ambiance is OK, but the amount of food and the taste of the food disappointed us. We did multiple Omakases in Amsterdam and this time on both the taste and the amount of food it didn’t satisfy us. The different sakes we ordered were nice though. All in all we expected more.

The staff is very friendly. The products are of high quality, but the pricing is not acceptable for the amount of food they serve. The pricing is €130 for a omakase course of 9 pieces of sushi and 3 warm dishes. Drinks are also on the expensive side. The atmosphere of the restaurant is okay, but when you pay €130 for a omakase experience you don’t expect they serve all your dishes in 1h10min, the whole experience feels kinda rushed.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Hanabi's omakase at Leidseplein 10, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the welcoming atmosphere set the tone for an exceptional evening. The dishes were a culinary journey, perfectly suited to the rainy weather outside. We began with a warm, sweet steamed custard soup that was comforting and delicious. Each subsequent dish was a masterpiece, from the kingfish with nori and Japanese herb to the bluefin tuna belly that melted in my mouth. Personal highlights included the tuna tartar handroll with warm rice and crisp nori, the rich abalone with sweet sauce, and the prawn topped with caviar, which was so good we ordered it again after the main course. The attention to detail was impeccable—fresh ginger was constantly replenished to cleanse the palate, and each dish's flavors were thoughtfully balanced without overwhelming the senses. The sake pairing, starting with a light Matsuno Tsukasa Kimoto Junmaishu and progressing to a richer Tsukino Katsura Asahi, was expertly chosen by the waitress and complemented the meal perfectly. The dessert course capped the evening beautifully, especially the egg custard flambéed with sugar, reminiscent of a delicate crème brûlée. Mochi with a light sweet sauce and chocolate powder was a delightful and light finish. This was my first omakase experience, and it couldn’t have been better. The seasonal dishes, the flawless service, and the warm ambiance made for an amazing dining experience. I'll definitely be returning and highly recommend Sushi Hanabi to anyone looking for an exceptional meal in Amsterdam!

The general has changed. The atmosphere of the store has also changed. It's delicious. It's a shame that the variety of sake and wine has decreased, and I can't find a pairing that goes well with sushi...

Everything was going smoothly until the Chef randomly didn’t put the gulp of black caviar on my ebi sushi. I like black caviar and asked why. They offer me extra ebi. At the end of the day I hit the bill with €33.50 extra for their random choice. Was a bit disappointed and left puzzled.

This restaurant delivers 9 rounds of excellence with a few surprises along the way. The chef serves each round with humor and is sure to bring a smile on your face. It definitely is one of the finer sushi’s i’ve ever tasted but be sure to pace yourself cause you will burn through the rounds otherwise.

The experience of a lifetime🤍 This is the second time we've been there, and I didn't think it was possible but the chef managed to surpass our first impression (which had already made us want to come back!) Last March I went to Hanabi with my boyfriend for my birthday which was a really amazing evening. We had a really delicious meal and of all the omakase in Amsterdam I think this is really the best. The atmosphere is really great and the people are incredibly friendly and do everything they can to give you a nice evening. We had the 65 euro menu, I believe, which is number 2 of the 3 price categories they offer. We were just full after this, not bloated like an all you can eat. We were surprised with every bite and I didn't really have anything I didn't like. My friend is less into fish and sushi, but even he loved it. It is of course a more expensive experience, but you can make it as expensive as you want, since they have different menus and you could also order separately if you wanted. In any case, I definitely recommend it and can't wait to come back soon with my girlfriends!

The food is delicious and the decoration is beautiful. However, it is all very rushed. The large menu costs € 130 per person, excluding very pricey drinks, and for that you expect to be able to enjoy a nice meal, but the service just doesn't remove your plate when you put the last bite in your mouth, and the next round starts. then put it down again. This gave me the feeling that they wanted us out quickly, and even though we ate very slowly at one point, I was outside after an hour and a half. Not exactly the experience you expect from an omakase.

We had an amazing omakase experience here. We were first greeted by a lady in traditional Japanese clothing and then got introduced to the head-chef. The interior was very beautiful & the atmosphere was very calming. The head-chef served us a variety of seafood/dishes. All were very delicious. It tasted very fresh and the combination of each ingredient made it even more flavourful. I will definitely come back again!

Worst experience ever!! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone either, just a waste of money. We had made a reservation at 9:00 PM and were already standing downstairs at 10:00 PM. Everything happened very quickly, the food was so bad, not tender, tasteless and not fresh. It concerns the menu of 130 euros per person. The chef has changed, both the type of dishes and their quality are very poor. The wait staff was constantly walking around the small space, looking around and asking questions, which we didn't like at all. It was also very warm in the room, no air conditioning. We did not get the whole 'experience', as it should have been. We will never come back here again!

My favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. There is a lot of effort that is put into every dish and you can taste this. It is not only a dinner but an experience. The service is friendly and attentive.

One of the best Sushi I’ve tasted in Europe. The staff, Sous Chef, Waitress and the owner were lovely kind. We enjoyed to have a pleasing chats during this excellent dinner.

Counter seats with a sophisticated and clean feel. I was surprised by the salmon dish and Gyoku, which were made with sesame oil and olive oil, perhaps to appeal to Westerners. Also, the mackerel that even the general was satisfied with made me groan. I was once again impressed by the craftsmanship of the chefs, realizing that it is not just the quality of the ingredients, but also the precision and care with which they are prepared that creates such a great dish.

Amazing authentic and personal sushi experience. The whole meal was amazingly personal, the chefs and staff were knowledgeable and polite and very fun to chat to as well. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Best Japanese food and sushi we've ever had!

From the busy Leidseplein, you reach a very small, quiet place via a steep staircase. It's as if you suddenly end up in Tokyo via a time machine, you really step into a different world. One world of sushi artist Kazuya. What we understand is that he will be sent back to Japan at the end of May 24 due to a conflict. That would be a real shame, because he really is a true artist. Every Sushi is a bomb of delicious flavors. It is already a treat to see him carefully preparing the Sushis. Hopefully they find a solution that allows him to stay here, if not then I hope for a replacement who reaches Kazuyu's level. Top restaurant with top service! You can only come here with a reservation.

The best sushi I’ve had in Amsterdam. The quality is just above and beyond and the service spectacular.

Amazing experience. I went for dinner and I have ordered the €65 menu. It is more than worth it. The menu is made up of 11 tastings, mainly nigiris, which are all super delicious: the sea bass and the turbot are exquisite. As well as sweet shrimp and Japanese scallop. Everything has been a delight. You finish the menu with 3 rolls, a little spicy and a miso soup that was delicious. It is definitely worth the duration of the service, which is around 2 hours. The service has been wonderful, and the cooks serve you and explain each dish.

An elegant and harmonious omakase dining experience. Once you enter, the interior is an eye-catcher, the restaurant is small but nice! Reservations are a must! We were lucky with our spot at the table and sat right in front of the chef! For the ultimate Omakase experience, the €90 menu is highly recommended! Even though there is not much talking, the chef tells a whole story with his body, his way of cutting and shaping fish and placing the nigiris on your plate, beautiful! The fish is of top quality, every bite tasted like more! A perfect relaxing and perfect date night! We will definitely come back!

Almost faultless! The nigirizushi are excellent, especially the Hokkaido scallop or the celery instead of ginger to change the taste between each bite. The chef is smiling, very young and lacks a little experience. But, he has within him the talent of a great master. Mandatory reservation.

Overall, the experience was amazing. Each sushi dish was beautifully prepped and presented. One of the sushi’s became one of my favourites. It breaks my heart to say that I have one huge dislike, cause it was almost a perfect experience. It’s even a dealbreaker for me to come back a second, third and fourth time. I found the last dish really disappointing. It broke the flow of the entire menu and its storytelling, which was so delicate throughout. The bulkiness of the last dish contrasted too much, leaving us with an unfulfilled feeling, even though it was obviously meant to fill you up after a starter and 8 pieces of delicious sushi I really hope you change the last dish, or add a couple of more sushi to the menu to compensate, because the last dish is the only reason why it is a dealbreaker for me/us to come back (even though the rest of the experience is worth 5, 6 starts).

Omakase dinner exceeded all my expectations! We went for the most extensive Menu where you don't necessarily get more sushi, but you do get the more exclusive types of fish. It's more than worth the money. What a taste sensation, presentation and service! All types of sushi are prepared individually and each has its own taste. I've never tasted such flavors together before. And to see the chef is like looking at a work of art. What craftsmanship. The service from the other staff members was also very friendly. This is by far the best omakase place in Amsterdam.

Upon entering you will be amazed by the beautiful Japanese style entrance & you will be guided to your spot at the beautiful wooden bar. While you enjoy the different courses of appetizer, sushi & soup, you watch how the chef cuts the fish and makes the sushi. This is a true art form to behold! The fish is incredibly fresh and of good quality, but the other ingredients are also great. A true taste explosion in your mouth. Best sushi in the Netherlands, after this you won't want standard takeaway sushi anymore!

Fantastic! Never thought that sushi fish could be aged. The taste is more refined and complex. Also the chef was really creative. Marinated fish and different toppings added some extra dimension to the sushi. The tuna roll was fabulous. 😍 We will definitely come here more often!

Hands down the best sushi you can get in Amsterdam, and probably the Netherlands. Service is fantastic, sushi is amazing, and the atmosphere feels very private and relaxed. The cost price performance is great as well. Also, the chef is also a trained pastry chef so his desserts are always on point. Run, don't walk.

Thank you to everyone at Sushi Hanabi for such a wonderful and intimate experience. We travelled to Amsterdam for a weekend break, and came across this hidden gem on Google. Impressed with the feedback, we just had to book the 9 course Omakase. It was a couple of months in advance - we were so excited! The chef went out of his way to make our dinner so memorable, and prepared each course with flair and expertise. I had mentioned I hadn’t tried uni before, so he prepared an extra course just for me to try! It’s little things like this that create lovely memories. The service was immaculate from all members of staff, it was smiles all around - an incredibly pleasant atmosphere. I recommend Sushi Hanabi to all, you will not be disappointed!

Lekker gegeten, maar had er persoonlijk iets meer van verwacht. Bij deze prijzen verwacht je op zijn minst verse wasabiwortel op het haaienhuid geraspt. Voor 90 euro pp (voor het eten) verwacht je niet 3 a 4 nigiri met dezelfde lak. Verder zijn de dranken erg duur. Een fles bruiswater van 0.7 kost 9 euro. En een glas wijn tussen de 12 en 14 (de goedkoopste) Verder wel een mooie ambiance.

Essen war Traumhaft. Wir haben den 90 Euro (p.P.) Gang Menü gewählt, welches ca. 2.5 Stunden lang serviert wurde. Ein tolles Erlebnis. Ein Besuch war es definitiv Wert.

Vey limited seating capacity, I must reserve in advance. Knowledgeable staff and vey good prices considering the quality. Recommended.

Gréât expérience and gréât service. Food is tasty some of the pieces were stunning. It is nice to have an actual hood restaurant in the touristic area of the city. The restaurant makes you forget you are in Amsterdam and just invite you to relax and travel.
